I love this place. First the hot and sour soup is the BEST in Indiana. As good as Mark Pi's Express in Castleton! I order two every time I go here, it's THAT good. Hibachi meals are excellent. I haven't had a bad food item here including accidentally ordering a shrimp tempura appetizer that I didn't know was SUSHI (not a fan) but even THAT was actually very good! Stopped in here for lunch with my gal pal after checking out the reviews on Yelp, and I was pleasantly surprised. Although the decor may be a bit dated, it's very clean and that's waayyy more important. After taking a few minutes to review the menu I decided to go with General Tso's lunch special, chicken accompanied with brown rice and soup and it was awesome! It came out in a timely manner piping hot and fresh! For $5.35 it was a steal! The sushi is very well priced as well although I didn't get any my gal pal enjoyed hers. Recently relocated offices so I was hoping to find a Chinese food spot that also offered sushi around the Greenwood area. Well...that I did! Stopped in to Red Sun around noon and was followed in by a line of people. Good sign, right? This restaurant is nicely laid out as you walk in one door and are greeted by their menu and cashier. No confusion on where to go. Cashier was nice and greeted me as soon as I opened the door. Based on their menu they have a good variety of sushi, bento boxes, Japanese rice and noodles as well as Chinese entrees. I went with their chicken bento box which included: a garden salad, half order of Cali rolls, brown rice (white rice available as an option) and chicken or another protein choice (beef and shrimp also available). All for around $7, obviously more based on your protein choice. Everything was great!! Just the right amount of each item. -garden salad served with ginger dressing, pretty basic. Good dressing! -4 cali rolls (avocado, cucumber and crabmeat) -brown rice was a tad salty even before adding any type of soy sauce -chicken sautéed with a teriyaki type sauce, again a little salty but over good. Browned enough to give you a crunch but not tough at all. Overall, everything was great! Friendly staff and great customer service. I received my entrée within 10 minutes of ordering. Everything I needed was in my to-go bag without asking (napkins, fork, chopsticks, soy sauce and yum yum sauce). My husband and I were in search of a dinner spot on the Fourth of July. We decided to try Red Sun based on reviews. In my opinion this restaurant can be best described as a to-go/fast food spot. You can eat inside but you will not receive table service. My husband was pretty hungry so he decided to try the deluxe bento box. I followed his lead, but I really wanted sushi. I wish they offered a sushi platter or sampler on the menu. I have a shellfish allergy so I was impressed by their vegetarian options. The bento box was okay. I wish there was more meat and less rice. My husband paid for extra meat but still was lacking. I really liked that it is a family owned business but the customer service was somewhat lacking. This is one of the better places to get Chinese food in Greenwood. The food I've had here has always been good and seems to always be consistent in its preparation and flavor, which is something I definitely appreciate. I usually go for carry out and I appreciate that my food is still piping hot and my chicken is still nicely crunchy once I get home. I generally go with the General Tso chicken and fried rice. They make sure to give you a lot of sauce so that your chicken is completely covered and there's enough to mix with your rice if you want. The rice here is possibly my favorite thing on the menu. They give you the perfect amount and it's a lovely texture that isn't too soggy or too hard and it's perfectly flavored so that you can eat it alone or with sauce. I've also had both the beef soba and vegetable soba. The portions of each are huge and the flavor is good. This is a good place to come for Chinese if you're in Greenwood and want something that has good quality. I'm still searching for a place that blows my mind, but for now, this does the trick when I'm craving Chinese. read more

I ordered a few sushi rolls, and my friend did as well. They bring your food out to your table, and the food didn't come out at the same. I had to wait quit a bit longer. This place is awesome! My wife and I came here for lunch and we enjoyed everything about it. We both ordered the Hibachi Chicken entree. It was very good! They give you very large portions of food. The chicken was very tender (no chewy pieces at all) and the mushrooms, zucchini, and onions were very good and very fresh. They brought us out some "yum yum" sauce for our food which was very tasty, too! We also ordered Lobster Rangoon to share. They were excellent, as well! Our 21 month old daughter even liked this restaurant, and she's a tough critic. The restaurant was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This place was awesome for Hibachi food! I think because the place I used to go to in Bloomington tasted great, with salad and soup included, and had awesome specials on sushi, so this place just isn't for me. Tonight we were looking for a cheap place to eat after the holidays but, it had to be a good place too! In comes, Red Sun. Fast, cheap and delish! I had hot & sour soup and chicken with broccoli. Husband had General Tso and we spilt the Lobster Rangoon. You get offered white or brown rice. We both chose brown and noticed it wasn't what we expected. It was brown from what we assume was soy sauce. Which was perfectly fine for us. It was tasty. Hot & sour was really good too! Two cokes, and total was a tad under $27. Can't beat that!! Found this place while looking for someplace to grab a late lunch after my wife's doctor appointment. Pulled up Yelp to see what was nearby and this caught our attention. Looked over the menu and saw two words that instantly grabbed my interest: Lobster Rangoon! We both got the deluxe bento box (beef for her, shrimp for me) which we agreed was the best deal on the menu. The lobster rangoon was very good, I could definitely taste the lobster in it. The miso soup, seaweed salad, and all the rest of our food was also very good. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. They brought out a bottle of "yum yum sauce" with our food. I've never heard of it before, but it was VERY good! It may have crack in it because we were instantly hooked! The prices were very good. There wasn't anything on the menu more expensive than $10.99. We definitely want to come back to try the soba dishes and their sushi. We also found that they will be open Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Update: Went back again and tried the shrimp soba. It was very good! Made even better after I added a healthy dose of yum yum Update 2: Tried the hibachi dishes on my next visit. Ordered the hibachi imperial, a little bit of everything. I saw a photo of this restaurant on Yelp this morning, and since I was going to be in the neighborhood, I decided to grab an early lunch. There was plenty of parking since this restaurant is in the same strip mall as the Kroger on SR135 in Greenwood. I noticed a sign as I entered that informs the customers to place their order at the counter or to help their selves to a menu and place their order when ready. I decided to go for the Hibachi chicken (with mixed vegetables and brown rice) and the Tiger Sushi Roll - Deep fried shrimp, cucumber, topped with eel, avocado and eel sauce with spicy sauce on the side. The chicken was okay but a bit overcooked and drab in appearance. The vegetables were tasty (onion and squash) and the rice was well over a cup. I appreciated the option of using plastic ware and/or chopsticks. Maybe some more colorful veggies or some decorative garnish could help make the meal appear more appetizing. The flavor was fine, just nothing special that you can't get at a fast food franchise. I was also given a bright yellow bottle that looked like a mustard dispenser. I had to ask the cashier what it was since the bottle wasn't labeled. She told me it was Yum Yum sauce and couldn't describe it. I decided to give it a try on my rice and I can't really describe it either. It was tasty, but I still can't place a name to the flavor combinations. Finally, the sushi was on a completely different level (so glad I saved the best for last!) First, the presentation was on a real plate (not styrofoam). The sushi segments were colorfully arranged in a serpentine pattern which made it look much more appetizing as well. And the flavor was delicious! The shrimp was cooked just right. The two sauces added a nice layer of flavor along with the soy sauce for dipping. My only recommendation for the sushi would be to have a lower sodium soy sauce option available. (The plate comes with a small amount of wasabi paste and ginger, as well.) There are quite a few options for Japanese food which I haven't sampled yet. The hibachi chicken is really good and at a decent price. Haven't gone and tried the sushi yet, but heard its really good from others who have. Worth the try for first timers looking for something different and better than fast food. Update: Ok, the sushi has quickly become my favorite dishes here. I brought my daughter to Red Sun for a father daughter date. I was pleased with what we ate(hibachi chicken/beef and hibachi shrimp). When offered brown or white rice, I asked if they had fried rice. She said, that is the brown rice. I agreed and got brown. What came out was white rice with soy sauce. The portion size was relatively small, but so is the price. I would say this is a fair trade off. I do wish they would have mentioned there was a lunch special(I should have seen it...doh!). I probably would have elected this route for my daughter. I asked about a kids option but they don't have one. While it is their choice, everywhere has a kids meal. Please consider this. As a local restaurant, I enjoyed it and will be back. So I walked to the counter asking for the progress. the cashier give me a dirty look as It is my fault for being impatient. Never once apologize for it. The food is cold and very mediocre. Delicious! Went here on a weekend and had to try it out. It is a new business and from what I understand family-owned. They were super nice and patient while they waited on all of us and explained some of the menu items. They do a lot of take-out orders and have it set up so you can immediately order at the counter. We weren't expecting that set-up, so they let us sit down to take a look at the menus. They have a mostly Japanese menu with sushi rolls, bento boxes, and soba, but also have some select Chinese dishes. All three of us ended up getting the bento boxes (two chicken and one beef) and loved it. I agree with one of the previous posters that the chicken was tender with no fat or gristle and it was pretty tasty. The portions are all generous and satisfied our appetites! The sushi, rice, and salad that came in the bento box were all fresh and done perfectly. We also ordered sides of miso soup that came out really hot right before the meal. Our only minor complaint was that the hot tea and soup were served in styrofoam cups and bowls, but they said some actual tea cups and bowls were on order since they had originally anticipated a large take-out crowd. Hit these folks up if you're looking for some good food! Next time I want to try one of their Chinese dishes. I know we'll be back again. I highly recommend it! read more

I've had my eye on this place for awhile. We were finally able to give it a try and I'm really glad we did. We tried the chicken deluxe bento box and two different rolls. The tempera was light and crispy, chicken was cooked nicely and as others have mentioned seemed to be good quality. Nothing worse than slimy fatty chicken. The rolls were equally good. I enjoyed that they were actually "one bite" size. Typically, rolls are over-sized and hard to eat. That's just my opinion. I realize sushi is personal to those eating it. The dining room was busy with eat-in and take out orders. Service was prompt and courteous. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Even though table service is not offered, they check on you to make sure everything is okay. Just a little thing, but appreciated. We spent around $40 for the two of us. We love this place! I always have the Deluxe Bento Box and my fiancé always has sushi and Hibachi Chicken. We work late every night, so we are always their last customers in the evening and they always take good care of us, and we appreciate their hospitality! Food is always great. Sushi is good. I love their tempura vegetables. All in all, it's great for us. We would MUCH rather support these folks than Panda Express or something like that. A family owned restaurant that uses great fresh ingredients. I love that they cook to order so you know is fresh every single time. The price is great and the food is delicious. Everything I've tried so far is fantastic (my seventh time dining); the dish that I love is the Hibachi Imperial with white rice. I use their special Yum Yum sauce and I add it over my rice, the bessssst! I can could easily eat the rice and the yum yum sauce by itself.
