First of all, dog friendly patio- awesome. Even if it is only 2 tables! From the outside, you can't tell that this place is on the fancy/hip side of casual, so you might get a different impression of basic burgers and fries. The burgers were pretty darn good, although the bread was probably 2x the size of the burger! The fries are VERY large cut but they were a bit disappointing, as they didn't have a ton of flavor, and for $5+, it was basically one potato (which unfortunately, they didn't cut the black part out of, and that put a bit of a damper on the whole thing). We ordered a lot, I will mentioned the dishes I liked and had. The Bollywood fries is a must! Crispy curry seasoned fries with a mint chutney dip. Cheap dates is a bacon wrap date dish with arugula salad. Crispy pork belly is chicharron with Asian twist, nice begins. The deviled eggs are okay nothing special. Their salsa and chips is not too special either. Entrees: braised short ribs very tender and hearty dish. Very very large portions! I had the fish tacos which is a very hardy yummy portion. Crispy fish and grilled lemon. Salsa is the same as the salsa chips so not too special. They give you side of grilled jalapeño. SHARING IS CARING... I would like to "share" a comparison to a similar restaurant in HB that I had visited recently - The Corner. Several yfs had rated the place highly. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. Red Table had only been rated by two yfs with mixed reviews, so I was a bit worried. Sadly, HB is not a mecca for good food. This place is a bit hard to find if you don't live in the HB Harbor area. My NAV led my date and I to the front lot of Trader Joes. Red Table is tucked in the back behind TJs and past a pizza joint w/ a special - "Two slices and a drink for $6.95". Great, another let down about to happen. However, this time I was going to be pleasantly surprised. There are a lot of options. They have several small plates, a few salads, three flatbreads and burgers & sandwiches, so you can choose to go tapas style. They also have several entrees - Salmon a la plancha; braised short ribs; flat iron steak; filet mignon medallions; ravioli & daily specials. We opted for a hybrid: Tapas, a salad and an entree. All the dishes are large enough to share. For starters, we ordered the "cheap date" - dates wrapped in bacon ($8), pork belly ($8) and Red Table fries ($4). They have 4 or 5 variations of fries including a stoopid version - one w/ a super spicy sauce. We also ordered a large house salad w/ tomato vinegarette ($8). We decided to split an entree: The braised short ribs ($16). Lastly, my date doesn't drink much and I have been having too much B & T (Beer & Tequila - lol), so I opted for a glass of Spanish rioja ($10). The bacon wrapped dates w/ mascarpone were also accompanied w/ arugula - GREAT IDEA! The combo of the peppery arugula, saltiness of the bacon, richness of the mascarpone and sweetness of the dates was really good. And vs The Corner the portion is huge for the price (shout out to everyone's yf Hazel Q from LBC for "sharing" the tip on large portions). The grilled pork belly comes w/ soy vinegar, tomato relish and pepper threads. OMG, UNF*CKING BELIEVABLE! I love pork belly and it figures Filipino chef Louie Jocson (formerly EC at Karl Strauss) would know how to cook his pork. This version was as good, or better than Michael Voltaggio's version at Ink in WeHo. Unlike my yf Cherylynn N's visit to Red Table's more wealthy cousin (Rich Table in SF) - LMAO!, there was a nice crisp on the outside and it was tender on the inside. The soy vinegar gave it a light adobo flavor. The fries were really good too. Twice fried, properly seasoned and just the right portion w/o getting stuffed if you eat them all. The salad was a large portion and stacked w/ goodies - carrots, fennel, radicchio, tomatoes. We couldn't even finish it. The boneless short ribs were prepared pan demi glace and accompanied w/ root vegetables including parsnips & crushed potatoes. The ribs were super tender, the vegetables were crunchy and the potatoes were smooth and buttery. We only finished half because my date wanted to save room for dessert. We had the broken banana cream pie for dessert - a deconstructed version - w/ caramelized bananas and caramel sauce. I am not usually a dessert person, but I helped my date finish off this huge portion. The crust, custard, bananas and caramel was refreshing and delicious. I didn't have high expectations for the restaurant or my date - but like one of the dishes, I had a "cheap date", but in a good way. The food was really good, the tab was only $84 w/ tip and my date was good company. I am definitely coming back to visit again shortly. We had a good server, but the food was pretty bad. We started with fried calamari, which turns rubbery when it's overcooked. Our calamari was so overcooked, it was not only rubbery, the breading was so hard the pieces clinked on the plate when I dropped then. Next, I had fish and chips, and it was also overcooked, and it was so thin that there was very little fish between the breading. The server noticed that I didn't eat most of it, and she removed it from our bill. Since I was still hungry, I decided to eat some of my daughter's giant meatball and spaghetti. She didn't eat much of it, because she didn't like it very much. I tried it and agreed - it had almost no flavor. It didn't taste bad, it just didn't taste like anything. I can't be sad tonight we decided to try "Red Table" Taylor was our server she was amazing. We dined with another couple, we ordered Smokey ole fashions and a vodka martini with blue cheese olives. The presentation and the drinks were great. Appetizer's ordered were Brussels sprouts and bacon wrapped dates. Both were delicious. Entrees ordered were bacon cheeseburger, filet mignon, and short ribs. Everything was delicious warm and we were not disappointed. It's a little hard to find at first, as they are located in a shopping center, but just look for Trader Joes and you'll find them! I ordered the beef short rib, which came severely overcooked - it was practically impossible to stab with a fork. The dish came with three pieces of short rib, veggies, and mashed potatoes. The veggies and mashed potatoes were decent, but the short rib was absolutely horrible. The waiter was kind enough to remove it from out check. My friend ordered the stragonoff. It was mediocre at best (unsalted and with no flavor). Unfortunately, neither he nor I finished our meals or left satisfied. On the bright side, the Macallen 12 year we ordered was great, and they poured a generous amount - hence the 2 stars. This is legitimately one of the best spots in town. My family eats here on average about once a week. I've tried almost the entire menu and have never had one bad meal. The vibe is great, would work for family night or date night (we do both)! Happy hour has great deals. It's not the cheapest place in town, but also not over priced. I go to this place all the time, it's across the street from where I live.. the food is delicious, I've never ordered anything from here that wasn't really tasty. The staff is super nice and friendly. Being as it's a bit of a hidden gem it's never overcrowded or overly loud. Saw 4 servers all walk outside to talk to two people sitting at a table and we were ignored. Came here for my daughter's 13th birthday. We are from Inland Empire and don't have inside dining available. This restaurant had that option. Servers wore masks. Tables were spread out. We ordered a flatbread pizza (the crush), the cheap date (bacon wrapped dates), steak sandwich and fries. I also tried the tomato bisque. Let me just say that ALL of this food was sooo good. Took my daughter for a COVID night out to enjoy some dinner. Started off well even though we had reservations and had to wait the appetizers were ok. Cheap Date (bacon wrapped dates with marscapone was the highlight curry fries was negative along with the loco moco ordered medium w some pink inside.
