I've been wearing Thorogood soft toe boots for several years now but am going to a new site that requires safety toe boots, so I had to buy a new pair of boots before a work trip next week. I ordered the same model of Thorogood that I've always worn but with a safety toe and unfortunately they got lost during delivery. Having only a day to figure out my boot situation before traveling, I decided to check out Red Wing Shoes at the recommendation of a buddy of mine. Since it's near my main office, I decided to head in on my lunch break and see what options they had. I was immediately greeted by Jen who was assisting another customer, but she excused herself for a moment to get me pointed in the right direction. I explained my situation, what I needed and what I liked in a work boot. She quickly showed me a couple options and immediately I was set on a pair. She used their fancy camera and foot pressure system to measure my feet and quickly pulled the correct size from the back room as well as make a recommendation of insoles for my high arches. I tried the boots on and the felt great, but I felt I needed a different insole with a little more support. She replaced the insoles with higher arch ones and doing so hit the nail on the head. I paid for the boots and was on my way! Jen's service was fantastic and all around this was probably most pleasant boot purchasing experience I've ever had. My dad has had redwings 40+ years, I've gotten them for 15+ years. I bought a new style at a different location 2 weeks prior to today, I tried returning them here because I fly out of San Diego tonight for a 2 week family trip. They scanned my receipt and said there system isn't updated and that I needed to go back to the original location. I am not able to go to that location within the 30 day return and he said "that is not my problem." A combined 55+ years of buying Redwings, and that's how they treat their customers. read more

Did the research watched the videos came in for sizing...guaranteed sale...what I didn't do was look up the store and read the reviews. I know exactly why this store has the score it has. The heavyweight male they got working there came with a disrespectful attitude from the jump. This dude has backroom stockboy energy and shouldn't be talking to customers. If I had read the reviews I would've tried to avoid him. Now I'll avoid the store and probably the brand. Nicks, Halls and Thorogood can have money. read more

Juan knows his stuff!!! I understand he's been working with Red Wings for well over 15 years. He had to order in my 8 inch high size 15 boots. When I later tried them on, they didn't feel more supportive or comfortable than the Ariats I was wearing. I felt sorta bad then not purchasing them but he didn't mind and was still very knowledgeable and helpful explaining how different socks matter and how as well as other extremely helpful points about my $500 orthotics, not wearing them with removable liner, etc (The only reason I mentioned the price of the orthotics is because I received more truly helpful information from Juan than the Podiatrist!....and I didn't even buy ANYTHING!) So, I had been reticent to go into the store because of some negative reviews left from others regarding customer service etc. No, he's not a flashy know-nothing salesman type. But he's a true fountain of experience and knowledge, and if you need to tap into that like I did for my extremely uncomfortable no-arch flat feet, you can't do much better!!! read more

Juan took terrific care of me. I got a slightly smaller size (against Juan's recommendation), assuming they would break in. But Juan was right, I should have gone half a size up. But that size felt too big, even with thicker socks. Juan had the perfect solution: an insole. Now my work boots are so comfortable, I wear them everywhere. I used to get cranky and tired toward the end of my workday, but it was such a relief when I realized it was because my feet were tired and sore in my previous workshoes. These Redwings weren't cheap, but I'm able to do a better job for longer now that I no longer have to think about my feet. Worth every penny. read more

Visited this store today, one other customer in the store and greeted after 20 minutes. Once I was helped the employee showing no sign of customer service skills and acted like I was making their day an inconvenience. Once I told them what I was looking for they asked what size, after telling them my size knowing the boots run big they then condescendingly told me I wasn't the size I was saying I was. They then didn't have the right size and that's it, they didn't ask if I wanted to order or locate them at another location. I just walked out, go online and save yourself the headache. I highly don't recommend this allocation. read more

Juan is straight up disrespectful. Shows that he doesn't want to be there and doesn't care. Seems to laugh everyone off. Sits on his phone when he's not "helping" you. I asked him to dye some boots black for me. He was very against it and just seemed to not want to do it. He originally told me a week which wasn't a problem at all, called him a week later and he "hadn't even touched them and needed another week". Called again a week later and asked about the boots, he laughed and said they've been done. Picked the boots up and it looks like a 4 year old took a marker to my boots. Such a waste of time and such disrespect. I don't understand how red wing can continue to have an employee like this who is disrespectful. I am not the only person who's been through this and actually got warned by coworkers to "take the time and go to an enjoyable location". Definitely would recommend my coworkers advice. read more

Came in today after weeks of researching for some quality boots. There was only one other customer in the store and one employee. After he rung out the customer there was no greeting or acknowledgement of us being there. My girlfriend had to ask about a boot but he said those are only for men. No follow up or consideration! Employee was extremely cold. Don't waste your time coming here. read more

I came here to buy boots 3 weeks ago and they started ripping on the toe and went back to try and change them out or get a refund after just 3 weeks and the guy told me it's not covered and there is nothing he can do what doesn't make any sense because he told me when I bought the boots they should last for a year and a half and already ripping after 3 weeks and on top of that the customer service at this store is garbage Juan the salesperson when I first went in there didn't ask me if I wanted to try anything on or even greet me I had to walk up to him and ask him for a size!! My experience with this store was great. The employees were really knowledgeable about shoes/ shoe fit and spent time helping me find a pair that worked even though I was a more difficult fit to find. The shoes that I purchased became really comfortable after being broken in and are very practical and I couldn't recommend them enough. You may have to wait a little bit outside because of their COVID policy but it's honestly well worth the wait. read more

Brought my boots here to be resoled. I asked that they fix a stitch and clean the leather as well as resole, new insoles, and new laces. Almost 4 months later I finally got them back but they didn't fix the broken stitch nor did they clean the leather. So do I waste another 4 months to have them fix those issues or do I just take them to another cobbler for that one little issue? read more

Walked in a couple weeks ago to the Escondido location. One other customer in the store. I was never greeted or asked if I needed any help. They talked and he got the other guy a couple different boots to try. Meanwhile I'm just standing there looking at boots. Made eye contact a couple times. Then after about 5 minutes I walked out. I was prepared to spend close to 300.00 on a pair of boots that day. For supposedly a high end expensive product your customer service is garbage. read more

Great service! Stop spending money on throw away boots, spend a little bit more and get some quality that will far surpass anything else on the market. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and treated to the full experience. It was really nice getting some customer service that was reminiscent of times before huge box stores. Red Wings are not made as good as they use to. To top things off the employee lied to me and said they no longer give union discount at this location. I went to another Red Wing store and they said all Red Wing stores give union employees a 10% discount. read more

First off I need to let this known that Juan is asset to the RedWing company ! That gentleman had the best customer service I have ever experienced . It was Christmas Eve and for Juan to be at that level of positive energy and courtesy made my day . He took his time in showing me the perfect boot and even went the extra mile to properly make sure that they would fit properly even tho the store was about to close . So happy we have a local Redwing store in North County. My family and I have been there several times since they opened and have found their customer service to be first rate. Still like the Temecula and San Diego locations but having the store in Escondido is great. read more
