I loved the personalized experience and that they were able to make recommendations on what would be more comfortable based on job description and foot structure. There was no pressure to make a purchase and he was very patient with my son who has never owned a pair of boots. He took the time to show him the proper way to lace them and tie them. Went over how it should fit and feel. While my son didn't need the boots right away we still purchased them today because he has a very difficult time finding shoes. I use to hate redwing! (The Nike of work boots) but man. For me. Now nothing compares. As far as the the store? Great spot my go to spot . The ladies here know their stuff and that new fitment machine is bad ass! They take their time and really help you find a boot that works for you. When this place cleans and conditions, they don't just brush it for 10 seconds and condition it like some of the other San Jose locations I've visited. They actually clean it and then condition it. The boots came back to me smelling like a mild cleaner of some sort and looking all [mink] oiled up. It did take several days, but to be fair, this is a busy Red Wing location and the job was done thoroughly. I took the week; so I didn't mind the wait. It's worth the wait to keep the shoes lasting and looking and feeling good. I've had Red Wing steel toe work boots for approximately 2 years and some change. They've gotten many compliments and gone through/over rain, mud, sand, creeks, and up and down steep embankments along creeks and freeways. I make certain to bring them for a cleaning and conditioning every 3-6 months, even though I do that myself sometimes after a muddy day or week. With the cork Birkenstock insole, these Traction Tred Lites are comfortable and all-day-support type of work boots. I haven't been able to say that previously about work shoes. Only con is it does feel as if the cold weather is coming through those moccasin-style seams around the toe when it's raining... read more

I got my Redwing for my birthday. It was a gift but unfortunately my shoes was too big for my feet. I visited there and tried to exchange but they did not have my size so I had wait until the product arrived. They measure your size of the feet and suggest the best option. I have been wearing size 9 but somehow for redwing, I had to wear size 8. It has been great fit, I don't know what's wrong with my feet, but I am loving it. The process of exchanging was super easy and stress free. They did not ask much of details or restriction. Very nice staffs and great shoes. read more

Very helpful. I have the ratcheting steel shoe laces and one snapped off by the dial on my left boot. It was fixed that same day and both boots reconditioned free of charge. You just dont get that kind of service and standing by their product like this anymore. Staff was great! read more

I have never heard of Red Wing until after I told the bf he really needs a pair of water proof shoes that are comfortable to walk around in for traveling since his sneakers always get soaked in the rain. He promptly started researching Red Wing and there was a store here in the Bay Area! Apparently Nordstrom also carries Red Wing shoes though ... and some exclusive styles that are just made for Nordstroms. This store is nice, plenty of selection, lots of sizes and the owner is extremely friendly. He is always eager and willing to help you find the perfect pair of boots even if you have to go through 4-5 different styles and sizes. He's very knowledgeable about the shoes and is able to make you real, honest recommendations and not just try to sell you on the most expensive thing he has in the store. This is the place to go, and the shoes to go for if you need a pair of solid work boots or something comfortable to weather the elements. read more

I called, he confirmed they had them, got my info, I paid and a day later I had my shoes. That gets 5 stars, but it got better. First pair were too big, no big deal. I bought a pair of Oxblood Iron Rangers here a few weeks ago. I had such an excellent experience at this location. Matt helped me out and measured my feet. I got a great fitting pair of boots in no time at all. Another store person, Lucky was there and both of these men really added to the Red Wing experience, very knowledgeable about the product and overall atmosphere. The product speaks for itself but customer service is so important when putting out this kind of money for boots. Not terribly happy with my Red Wing experience. The first salesman I met sized me up, and sold me a pair of 13D boots, but after wearing them for a day I realized they were way too big. Called and they told me to bring them back, and they'd take them back if they didn't show wear. When I returned the second salesman agreed I'd been sold boots way too big. He accepted them back and ordered a pair of 13's after again sizing my foot. Kudos for that! Upon returning the second time, the 13's fit better but after wearing them for a couple weeks I've realized they are never going to fit properly. The width is good but the length is more like a 14. My toe comes nowhere near where it's supposed to and my foot slips around, causing a blister on my toe. I am guessing I need a 12D or maybe Red Wings aren't for my foot type at all. Reading up on the Red Wing Heritage line it seems the sizing issue is well known and most people size down at least one size. read more

Their dealer network is vast and their customer support is excellent. The employees here are knowledgeable and friendly. The store is very clean and modern and they carry a wide selection of shoes and supplies. You can order from their catalog if they don't have what you want. That store had the steel toes that I wanted but the problem was that it had manufacturers glue all over the sides of it. So, the blossom hill workers called up this store and asked if they had the same kind of steel toes and asked if they could have it transferred to their location. I asked them how far Stevens creek from blossom hill and it turned out it was only 15mins away. I kindly asked if they could hold the shoes for me so I could pick it up that day. They said they would and in 15-20mins I was there getting my shoes that I wanted. YES! If you only knew how hard it is to find shoes in my size!! (5.5 women's). When I came in looking for a pair of motorcycle boots I could commute in, but still wear around the office her directed me to one of the last "made in the USA" pair available anywhere! Most of the boots will still be made domestically, but the motorcycle line are already being made overseas and compared side by side, the new ones are the kind of crap you'd expect to come out of China, which coincidentally is where they are made now. There's a lot to be said for american craftmanship. Not to mention the proprieter custom fitted the boots to my feet by stretching the toe box. Red Wing boots are known to outlive their owners and I'm proud to own a pair of the last hand-made in the USA originals. read more

Having a wide foot I always bought shoes that were larger than I needed. But now after getting sized I can ask for my right size. 9 double E. Great store and awesome and nice employees. I would like them to have a wider variety of colors for their heritage brands. I feel like I need to make multiple stops to try each individual shoe. Tips: 1. Check if shoes both shoes look the same I found that the toe of my moc-toe boot looked warped and unfortunately they did not catch it. I asked for a replacement in store and they ordered another one for me. 2. Try it on. This is not Nike. You need to try on these boots and tighten them up. You cannot just go online and assume that the boot size is the same as the other boots you get. The only reason I give it 5 stars is because there is pretty much no other consistent way to get a red wing boot. Each shoe is different and it is difficult to just go online and purchase a boot and assume that it fits. You need to go to a store and purchase them. It is a hassle, but the heritage boots are worth it. I will be coming back when I have a bit more budget in the fashion category. read more

My husband just recently started working at Frys Electronics. This is a job that requires you to stand all day long...He has dislocated both knees in the past so he was in need of an outstanding shoe with good support in order to do his job properly at Frys. I called "Jennifer" at Red Wing Shoe Store and explained to her the type of shoe that we needed in order for him to be comfortable and also within the dress code. She found the exact shoe that he needed and we hadnt even been to the store yet! We arrived to have him fitted and I was even able to bring our small Poodle in the store with us and he sat with me while we watched my husband choose the shoe for him. Red Wings are not CHEAP. But I will say this, The last pair my husband had lasted 5 years! Great quality shoe, and it helps when the service is extremely knowledgable about what they are selling. When I came in the guy behind the desk was totally disinterested, when I asked questions he seemed genuinely annoyed by my presence. Trying on two pairs of shoes with this guy felt like an eternity of awkwardness.
