This place is simply amazing. Amazing wait staff, efficient, and great for your wallet. It's also a nice late night spot; for after you've left the club, bars, etc. I've honestly never been during the regular hours but damn, those late night hours hit different. Let me tell you, this place has amazing grits, eggs, and pancakes. They area also so accommodating to my die (eventhough they charge extra without the waitress specifically letting you know...) I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for dinner based on what we had for dinner. My husband and I both ordered a couple of the hamburger choices with waffle fries as the side. They cook all hamburgers well done. So it was very dry and hard to cut. The waffle fries were not warm at all. Maybe their breakfast choices will be prepared better. read more

My sisters and I attempted to eat here last night. We have a tradition during Ramadan to hit up an all night diner at least once during the month and besides Waffle House, this is one of the only options in town. We arrived and had to wait, as we expected, around 2 am on a Friday night. Finally make it to the front of the line and are told it will be a 15 minute wait, then 20, then 30, as their kitchen was backed up. Again, not a problem, we anticipated waiting and I understand there are staffing issues everywhere. Eventually we make it inside and are seated. We stacked our menus at the end of the table to indicate we were ready to order and after about 10 minutes a server comes by and asks us if she can remove the menus, I replied, "yes, but we haven't ordered yet or gotten our drinks." The response was "oh I'll leave one menu for you." Confused but still waiting on a server, we contemplated if we should stay or go or try to get someone's attention. My sister noticed larger parties that were seated after us were already being served and we were starting to feel slighted so she spoke to the gentleman at the door because she figured he would know the order he let folks in and would agree that the lack of service to us was ridiculous. He was professional and empathetic and apologized and then we saw him go to speak to a server. As he walked by us on his way back to the door he apologized again and I heard the server say "Sorry for what?" That server then proceeded to walk to the entrance of the restaurant, socialize, stare at me, left through the front door... I had enough. We decided to leave and will never give that establishment a penny or a recommendation. read more

Was in town for work and found the Epicenter which is where all these restaurants are at. Wasn't sure what to eat but saw the Redeye Diner and the menu outside had comfort food. Fried chicken definitely got my attention. The food was great and my server John was the best. Super attentive and checked in with me at just the right times. Refilled my drink before I even got to finishing it. If I'm ever back in town I'll be coming back here and hopefully John will be working. Also vanilla shakes was great. Finally made it to Midnight diner sister restaurant. This place is just like midnight diner but bigger. I got the fried chicken and waffles. The waffle is a lil crispy for my liking and you have to use the butter from the packets that on the table. The menu is identified to midnight dinner for those who have been there. They also offer southern staples like collard greens and macaroni and cheese which my fiend got. I went with 5 friends for breakfast on a trip to Charlotte. The ACC championship game was in town, so the wait was about 45 mins around 10am. Overall, the food was good but not great. I ordered a good corned beef hash. The eggs were a bit oily, but the biscuit was solid. The Hasbbrowns (with onions) were greasy, but somewhat flavorful. The pancakes were thick and heavy, if that's your thing. The disappointments were the syrup (gooey and gross) and the coffee (bad tasting). I was torn between this and 3 stars, but the hash and the other food on the table was OK. It's worth noting that a southerner in our group said the gravy was just mediocre. Found this gem while strolling around the hotel. Our server, John, was very friendly and quick and we liked it! Got the fish and shrimp platter with waffle fries and coleslaw. 12/22/18 - We came here to eat over the X-mas holiday of 2018. We had a very good experience as far as the food goes. We ended up arriving in town late and arrived around 1am and were immediately seated. The Diner is in a multi-floor strip mall on the bottom level. There were a lot of party goers ending their night which was noticeable but was not a problem. We tried the chicken and waffles which came with 3 HUGE wings, we tried the quarter dark chicken with broccoli and mac and cheese, and the Philly Cheese steak. We all tasted portions of all and found them all to be very pleasing. The quarter chicken, leg and thigh did not appear to be as fresh as the wings. They were fine but were obviously not recently prepared as if they had been sitting waiting to be served for some time. The Philly was great along with the wings and waffle. We understood that it was a direct result of our being among the 20+ diners who had all decided to come eat at the same time. Even if the kitchen was short staffed it was well worth the wait! Food/Affordable: I saved the BEST for last. The under $20.00 large bowl of Shrimp & Grits with biscuit was not only filling but delicious! The creamy grits were topped with a perfectly seasoned spicy shrimp and gravy. There are many things in life today that can go wrong. There are many stressors and reasons for complaint. Whenever you can 'break bread' with your family at a restaurant that can make you feel at home, safe, satisfied and leave happy, suddenly you are strengthened to fight another day! This was my first experience at this restaurant and it was absolutely amazing! I ordered French toast eggs grits and bacon and the grits reminded you of the shrimp and grits. Our server was very prompt and courteous and our food came out relatively fast. This location offered a 10% discount if you checked in via yelp, however we forgot to use the discount, lol The food came out hot. So i love this restaurant, I usually go in after a night on the town. This particular time i went early on a Wednesday morning to get my favorite dish... shrimp and grits ! Service is regularly competent, but on this Wednesday morning, i was fortunate enough to be taken care of by a charming young server, Braxton. He brought me my favorite dish but unfortunately it was served under temp. I simply told him what was wrong and he shortly came back with a delicious hot bowl of shrimp and grits. Hey! So I went to this place on 1/13/23 and it was AMAZING! Ms Rita was working at the bar and she was VERY Kind!! I had just had cheerleading practice because I was at a competition here and this place was very good! The first night we went we were starving so we decided to try this place. Then the reservation took a bit longer than expected so Ms Rita offered again to just serve us at the bar. We kindly agreed and I ordered the kids Mac N Cheese with waffle fries. My dad got a steak burger and my mom got a veggie burger. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!!!! Only thing I will say is both times we went (and I know they are short staffed) but it did take a while for the food but it was worth it! After our meal I got a 1 scoop chocolate ice cream, my mom got a brain freeze and my dad got a Oreo milkshake and all were amazing! Today (1/14/23) we decided to go again so we went and got a reservation. We sat down and ordered drinks. After we ordered food (again took a bit longer) we waited. Our server was great! She said we were her first table and she did really good for her first time. This place is so good. Convenient location in epicenter and friendly service. We went for dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was great. Pancakes were over cooked and I don't recommend. My wife and I have come here for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night. This diner stays open 24hrs a day and while having sticky tables and slow servers at times it is consistently cheap, open, and tastes ok. This is not a place to go if you are a complainer about little things. The servers are alway super nice but it's hard to get ahold of them after you order and get your food. I've never had a table that didn't have some syrup on it somewhere lol, but yet I go back time and time again because the food is good and this spot is open all the time.
