Our dog threw up 5 times on both persian rugs and a wool area rug. It was everywhere. I called Esteam based on the online reviews. They responded by coming out to my house the day I called them in a panic, which in and of itself earns them kudos, then they proceeded to clean 4 rugs. Everything came out and no problems cleaning the persian rugs which was my biggest worry besides removing the stains. Then we found more vomit 2 days later on another persian rug, they came out on a saturday and cleaned that rug. All told, 2 visits, that was our fault, cleaning 5 rugs and doing a fantastic job. Esteam has cleaned our two-year-newly-installed, high grade, wall-to-wall carpet twice in the past two years. The first time was great. This last time I found that spot cleaning for fresh dog pee with a Rug Doctor vacuumed up dark black-brown dirty water into the waste bucket. This occurred in three arbitrary locations of the recently cleaned carpet. I concluded the cleaning service did not do an adequate job of cleaning and called the service to come check it out. The manager used his opportunity with this returning customer to explain his way out of coming to check the quality of the workmanship--it seemed like he considered it incredulous that I would ask that of him. Instead, he invited me to find another service. Note that the Esteam technician when leaving the job had said to please call them if we were not satisfied and they would come back to fix it. We will oblige the Esteam manager and find someone that will honor their word! read more

First of all, the employee who answered the phone was polite, informative and super friendly - she booked us an appointment with a two hour window of 11am to 1pm. Brian and Paul came out and cleaned my carpet, rugs and upholstery on Thursday. They were prompt, courteous and most of all did a fabulous job. For a reasonable and fair price. I did a lot of research to find someone good , and since I live in Sonoma I thought I might have to use one of the chains which I have not liked previously. I questioned Brian on the phone about the methods, equipment and products they use, as I have a chenille sofa that I wasn't sure could be cleaned without ruining the fabric. He explained that they don't spray and then inject water, as other cleaners do. They use an enzyme pre-treatment with microfibre rags and wipe the upholstery, which cleans off the dirt. Then they have a new hi-tech gadget that shoots a fine spray of water and at the same time sucks it up, so there's no water IN the fabric. The sofas (I had 2) looked and felt terrific -- soft, nicely raised nap, fluffed out down cushions which still are so 3 days later, and literally dry within an hour. The carpeting looked great and they didn't try to sell me a bunch of extras. These are hard-working young men who truly provide the "service" in this service business. Brian also taught me a few new tricks I will definitely use. Today I bought a package of microfibre rags, which pick up dirt, wash and dry better than regular rags. He even buffed out a water ring on my newly finished marble hearth. We have an old dog, and he said that using a shop vac for dog and other stains was much better (more powerful) than my Hoover steamer. I wish everyone I had to do business with could be like the guys from ESteam. I often think I can spot the fake Yelp reviews, and believe me, this is not one of them! read more

I feel guilty for taking so long to write this review, as my carpets were cleaned more than a month ago. I cannot say enough about my experience with Esteam. James (I think I am recalling correctly) was our technician and he was so nice, polite, hard-working and on time. Our carpets, which are now about 25 years old, look like they were just installed. He removed every single spot and stain. He removed spots the previous cleaner (who was terrible) couldn't get out. James cleaned in the morning and the carpet was dry by that evening. After they cleaned my carpets my house smelled like ammonia for 2-1/2 days. In addition, the carpet in my bedroom looked like a dalmatian when they finished it, with big brown spots all over it. I thought it was just water that would dry up but three days later the carpet was dry and the spots were still there. The company said they would take care of it. They made an appointment to come back but didn't show up. Instead they called me, at the appointment time, to say they couldn't come!. They made another appointment to come and re-clean it in a few days. A few days later a new guy showed up. He did re-clean my carpet and this time it didn't smell, possibly because I made him promise not to use any odorous chemicals. In the end my carpet looked ok but it took weeks to get it re-cleaned and my experience until the final visit was not a good one. read more
