Chicken and waffle. The rest is on other plate.

Had Sunday lunch today with mixed results. Ordered chicken and waffles and coffee. The coffee was either old or too strong which I can cope with. While the chicken was beautiful and fantastic, the sausage gravy with zero chunks of sausage was so awful and tasteless it was disappointing. Hardly ate any of the good as the gravy was all over everything. Mentioned it to our wonderful waitress who should have either offered a piece of chicken without gravy or no charge for mostly untouched meal but that didn't happen. No to the wise : consider getting the chicken and waffles without gravy. Note to this wonderful restaurant: please reconsider your gravy recipe.

The people of Reston love Red's Table so I had to give it a try. We went on a Saturday night and they only had bar seating available, so definitely make a reservation. For dinner, I got the Chesapeake Bay crab bisque which was creamy and delicious. I also got an order of mussels that I haven't stopped thinking about. The white wine sauce they were cooked in, I could drink. The portion size was great, I got a lot of mussels. It was very good, next time I want to sit on the patio and look over the lake.

Stunning lake side view at the patio. Requested for one after making a reservation the day before and managed to snag a nice lakeside seating for a Saturday evening. The wait in between food was a bit long but other than that, everything was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious and I've been meaning to try out this spot after moving to the area. So glad that I did!

We used Red's Table private dining room for HS graduation dinner. Food was fantastic (i.e. crab cakes, cobb salad, burger sliders, grilled and fried chicken strips, pasta, and chocolate cake). Highly recommend for all your event needs. Special thanks to owner, Ryan Tracy, who quickly reserving the room and for Dom, our server, for making sure we had a great time!

A modern lakefront restaurant nestled in a busy shopping area. It's officially fall so the fall foliage is in full Autumn mode. This restaurant was massive in size. I noted that it had 3 separate dinning areas, an indoor, outdoor and indoor patio area and the architect designed all areas around the view of the lake so no matter where you were sat, even at the bar, you still had a great view of the lake. The staff was extremely nice and gave helpful recommendations on what to order .8 ended up ordering an espresso martini, shrimp saffron pasta and a brownie Sunday. The espresso martini was made using heated milk, espresso, cinnamon and other natural ingredients with a shot of their smooth house vodka native to Virginia. The shrimp saffron pasta was delicious, smooth, creamy saffron sauce with squash, sliced olives, Parmesan and some spinach. It gave a bold, eastern Italian taste that I thought wouldn't get unless I returned to Italy. The brownie was very decadent, homemade ice cream. It was more of a cake like brownie but still had that flaky top. Classic!! I met the owner while dinning as he noticed how appreciative I was was with every bite I took of the pasta and so he walked over and had a chat with me around the pasta item. It was neat hearing how he had come up with the idea! Parking: free and plenty all around the lot that is located right outside of the establishment.

Like Trios, but even better. Get ready for a bunch of superlatives…read more.. This place has some similarities to Trios in Merrifield. Both Heirloom and Trios are attached to--and share a kitchen with--a Roadhouse Grill, and all of them are owned by the same parent company. However, Heirloom is much smaller, which I suspect makes it easier to control quality. Based on my experiences--one visit here and many visits to Trios over the years--the quality of just about everything is better at Heirloom. My meal consisted of their Smoked Manhattan, the Burrata salad, and the Heirloom Burger. (The burger was so good that they named the restaurant after it!) The Manhattan was one of the best Manhattans I've ever had. It had a wonderfully mellow, balanced flavor that edged toward sweet, despite being made with rye. Maybe it was the aroma--and eventual taste--of the large toasted marshmallow suspended over my glass where the cherry would normally go? I guess, to be sure, I'll have to go back and order another. The Burrata did what all great burratas do: each bite felt like a mouthful of sunshine. The cheese, tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette combined to create pure culinary happiness. The only better burrata I can recall was at Mikrolimano in Athens. However, once you factor in travel time and parking, Heirloom is definitely the better value. The Heirloom Burger was absolutely delicious. This past week I've been waxing poetic about burgers because one of the Hackney's restaurants back home is closing after 70 years, so emotionally, I'm not prepared to bestow any new burger honors just yet. However, check back in a few weeks, and you may very well see this review updated to say that the Heirloom Burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Other logistics... The service was OUTSTANDING. We were seated right at our reservation time, greeted warmly by several staff members, and waited on nearly hand and foot by Alex. She explained the menu, helped us select our beverages, and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the meal. It was attentive service without ever feeling intrusive. Parking is free after 5 and on weekends in a multi-story garage about half a block away. Happy hour is 5-7. They call Heirloom a speakeasy, but it feels more like a small restaurant with an eight-stool bar and a few high-tops. It's intimate compared with the Roadhouse, but not exactly speakeasy-intimate. And, finally, Heirloom is inside Roadhouse. You walk down a hallway, turn left into a very short hallway, open an unmarked door, and then go through a second door marked only by a red rose on the handle. I suspect the obscure entrance is their justification for calling it a speakeasy. But with food and service this good, they can call it whatever they like.

Started with an espresso martini, a smoked Old Fashioned, and the fritto misto to share. Everything was really good. Then we split the lamb burger and the shrimp risotto for lunch. Both were excellent, although I think the risotto edged out the burger. Our server Mike made the whole experience. Before he even brought us water, he showed up with a bowl for Onyx. Come on, that's an instant five stars in my book. We ended up talking wine with him for a good part of the afternoon. He had us sample a few different pours before we landed on a Nebbiolo we loved. Later, after another conversation about wine, he brought over a taste of a white we'd never even heard of because he thought we'd enjoy trying it. It never felt like an upsell. It just felt like talking with someone who genuinely enjoys wine and likes sharing it with people. Relaxing patio, great food, excellent cocktails, and genuinely memorable service. We'll definitely be back, and Onyx probably will too.

Nothing exceptional but good quality, good food And a fair amount of steak in mine for $16. I wish I could say the same about the service or lack there of provided by the two young female servers. For starters, they have zero communication skills. They drop things at the table and just stand there without a word. I did not receive the Vietnamese coffee that I ordered until I asked for it nor was I asked whether or not I wanted it with whipped cream - there's was no description on the menu so I wasn't aware it came with whipped cream. When we placed our order we asked for extra cilantro and received no cilantro at all. Once the runner delivered our food no one came over to ask how everything had turned out, if we needed anything else etc. The lack of communication, lack of attention to detail and quite frankly complete lack of personality turned a pleasant afternoon meal into a disappointment. It's a shame because I saw several other things on the menu that I'd like to try but I'm not interested in being in that unpleasant atmosphere again

The food was beautifully presented and the wine pairing was superb. Definitely recommend having them pair your wines. The grilled shrimp was a great start. The sparkling rose made the shrimp taste even better. The goat cheese ravioli was probably my favorite savory dish of the evening. The sweet sage-maple syrup-tomato sauce was fantastic. The Sancerre was pleasant with it, although I thought the ravioli itself was more impressive than the pairing. I had to order bread so the sauce wouldnt go to waste. I ordered the lamb medium rare, but it arrived closer to medium, and initially it was somewhat underseasoned. After adding salt and pepper and getting some of the thyme from the plate into the bite, the lamb became significantly better and worked better with the Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The creamed spinach underneath was delicious on its own, but I didn't enjoy it with the wine. Interestingly, the absolute highlight of that wine pairing was the braised garlic. The sweet, mellow garlic and Châteauneuf-du-Pape were wonderful together. Dessert was the highlight of the entire pairing. The lavender ice cream was outstanding, the Chantilly surrounding it was light and delicious, and the strawberry sauce wasn't overly sweet. The Sauternes was excellent with the dessert, particularly with the fresh strawberry. This was the pairing where the food and wine truly made each other better. Even though I was one of the last diners of the evening, I never felt rushed. My server was very attentive and social which I love. As someone who typically favors the briny, ocean-forward oysters of the Pacific Northwest, I was impressed by the depth of flavor and refreshing salinity these East Coast selections offered. The grilled Arctic char was cooked with precision, its fattier flesh remaining moist, flaky, and remarkably delicate. Equally impressive were the sautéed soft-shell crabs--fresh, aromatic, and expertly prepared.
