When you enter, you go straight to the counter and order. Then they give you a number and you find your own table. The food came out pretty quickly even if there were a good amount of people there. Friendly, warm, woody environment with a private outdoor patio and even tables on the sidewalk. My veggie wrap was very bland and the lentil soup tepid. My wife enjoyed her chicken and waffles. I tried them, and I thought they were good too. It's a very versatile place. They have the place set up and acoustically insulated for live music performances. They have framed photographs for sale on the walls and even some books for sale. It's a big place. Nice feeling to it. I imagine we will give it another try. read more

I thought I'd try Redwood because it advertised vegetarian food. I had no idea I'd stumble into karaoke night. The place is full of families who are having so much fun singing together. I found myself smiling and clapping for them. What a great place to spend an evening with your kids. I love this place i had the tempeh scramble. I love breakfast for dinner. It was really good. The selection of craft beers on tap was large. That is always good. The staff was nice. If I lived near here, this would be my new favorite place. I ordered the fried chicken and chips my wife ordered an Asian wrap my daughter got chicken strips, I'll give you the good the bad and the ugly on our experience. Asian Wrap: (Good) Was huge and she said it was delicious Chicken strips: (bad) over cooked she did love the fries tho. Fried Chicken and chips: (UGLY) the portions were huge but the chicken I'm assuming is double cooked because the outside was fried but the inside was frozen and chewy as if it's pre cooked and frozen until someone orders then re-dropped in oil. Manager was very nice and apologetic told me to order whatever I wanted (I got bacon and eggs) and he returned $3 (difference in price) and gave my daughter a free desert (NICE SAVE). We ordered some food, we were enjoying our drinks, and appetizers. While we were waiting on our other friends, and food to come. About 7:45pm, a guy walked to our table. Asked if we were staying for the band? We said no, just having dinner and waiting for some friends. He said to us, unless you pay $10.00 each? I'm not let your friends in. I suggest you guys take your Desserts to go! We looked at each other so Confused? because we're still waiting for the rest of our food. No one told us, or was there any visible sign that said there was a cover charge, because they had a band. Otherwise, we would of gone where else. We quickly took our food to go. Stopped here on the suggestion of a realtor we've been working with in the area. We've been here before quite a few times when we lived in Rohnert Park, so we jumped on the chance once reminded. It's been great every single time. Not once have I had an issue. Rare for a cafe and especially one with a delicious scratch menu that never fails to impress. One of, if not the best breakfast in the area. They also have live music and local artists work lining the walls. On par with or exceeds any similar type establishment I have had the pleasure of patronizing. Would definitely recommend. read more

Having lived in Santa Rosa for the past 7 years, I've been extremely disappointed by the really low number of live music venues in Sonoma County. Even then, the number of really desirable acts that roll thru the area has been frustratingly small. This however, changed last night with my introduction to Redwood Café and getting to watch Pablo Moses put on one of the sickest reggae shows I've ever seen.... and I've seen tons and tons. Pablo gets all the credit for his mad hard, root'sy vibe and style, but Redwood gets all the credit for A) finding/ booking him, B) a killer intimate live music venue, C) a very strong sound system and D) a killer staff. Further, I haven't eaten here yet, but everybody I know only gives this place solid praise for which why I will be returning very soon. I just had to give this place a mad shout out and big thanks for an outstanding evening last night. To the owners, I found out about your show thru the dope flyers you put up in my restaurant, La Rosa Tequileria & Grille in Santa Rosa, for which I will make sure you've always got space on our bulletin board. Stopped by for lunch on the way back from Petaluma. Got the turkey sandwich. The bread was soggy, the turkey tasted like an old sock. Even the salad was devoid of any crunch, the spring mix had long ago lost its crisp demeanor. Might have caught them on an off-day but I couldn't even finish 1/4 of the food. My girl friend ordered the French toast which tasted like garlic salt, the eggs were over cooked and no one came by to check on our table or refill drinks. E go for breakfast or lunch but it features many evening events . You do have to order from the counter which is strange based on food type and price. It is a "sit down" full menu restaurant . Ahhh the incredibly built-up Redwood Cafe- Let's start by saying there's nothing inherently "wrong" with this place. The food is okay, coffee drinks are decent, and atmosphere is pretty impressive, but for the price it's nothing to write home about. Staff is definitely friendly and makes suggestions when you don't know what to order, but I just haven't been impressed by their food in the 3-4 times I've been. For $20/person breakfast with coffee, there are other spots in Rohnert Park that offer the same fare with much better quality. Again, nothing inherently wrong with Redwood, but it definitely didn't live up to the best-breakfast-in-town reputation it seems to hold with many SSU students here read more

This place had so many great reviews I had been looking forward to trying this place out ever since I moved to Cotati. It had a nice rustic feel when I walked in but we were never greeted and eventually realized you had to get in line to order your food before sitting. Which, to me, isn't really how a restaurant should be. We got in line, ordered our food and paid, then had to seat ourselves. The food came out pretty quick. My companion said her chicken pesto sandwich was really good. My burger was severely overlooked. We both agreed the ketchup was horrible. It was in Ann old school glass Heinz jar, but we both know our ketchup and both said right off the bat that it wasn't Heinz. An employee only stopped by once to ask how we were doing and that was after he overheard us talking about the ketchup. As soon as we were finished eating another employee swooped up our dishes, making it feel like we were being rushed out. Won't be going back here. read more

The redwood cafe is a must try for not only veggiesaurs but meat eaters alike. They have a wide variety of food to choose from including vegetarian and vegan options. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Their scrambles are amazing for a filling b-fast. I absolutely love their tempeh Rueben. It's like a Rueben but instead of meat, they replace it with tempeh if you couldn't guess by the name ;-). The place has a relaxed vibe. They also have bands play and trivia night at well. read more

Why do my wife and I go back to this place for breakfast? NEVER AGAIN! The latest very poor breakfast was my Joe's Special and my wife's egg dish. She said hers was OK. Mine was tasteless and the WORST Joe's Special I have ever had,and, I have had many. I met the owner some months ago and he is a great guy. My advice to him is to get a good cook and rework his menu. They have a nice little display case with baked yummies and any place that has that pretty much has me. Last night I went for dinner and chose the spinach salad and hummus plate. That spinach salad was just that. Spinach. Add red onion in large rings, tomato slices, olives galore and the equivalent to a pound of feta and that's all she wrote. Simple, you may say - but to me, a little too much so. The hummus plate was sort of the same deal. Huge pile of hummus, loads of olives, tomato slices, cucumber and a nice portion of pita. The hummus wasn't creamy, it is of dryer fair, which is not my favorite. Almost chunky. I know this place has good food, and they've got the fresh ingredients to back it up - it just needs that something extra to get that flavor factor and then it's allll good in da hood. read more

The Redwood Cafe has good food and drinks; but what blew me away was the GREAT music from AfroFunk Experience on the night I stopped by! The band was excellent and the sound system was superb with a very good sound man. This is as good as it gets! Also another thing I loved was the friendly staff, and they saved my car from being towed by posting a warning about parking in the lot around the corner!!! It was very obvious to me that they care deeply about their customers by booking great bands and also looking out for those that did not know about the vultures waiting to tow your car around the corner! This review simply satisfies the basics: coffee and ambiance. I'm not much of a morning eater although I hear the food is amazing. Redwood Cafe is the perfect place to grab some coffee, pull out your laptop and slave away. The walls are covered in artwork from artists local and afar. The muffled music provides the perfect hipster ambiance and motivation to get in and stay in the zone. The front corner of the cafe is a stage for local artists to perform every Thursday night. The cafe's open mic night is not only the highlight of the little town, but brings out the best in Rohernt Park. College kids, locals and strays come to hear the best hidden secrets that lie in between the city lines. Once the sun sets, beer and wine are readily available. Although if you're logic mirrors mine-- feel free to indulge at any hour, after all, it is 5'o clock somewhere. The service is small town sweet, the location is cute and quaint and nothing beats seeing a table of hungover college kids at 9am on Friday and Saturday mornings. read more

My girlfriend and I love this place. We bring the dog and we eat outside. This is our favorite breakfast place. The people who work here are great and very friendly. The food is really good. I like their scrambles a lot and my girlfriend often has their blta sandwich. We both STRONGLY recommend this place to anybody and everybody for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's got a really nice atmosphere. There are a lot of college students during the school year but this doesn't make it less appealing just more busy. Come here and try for yourself. read more

The syrup was obviously very watered down. This place is just horrible now. The cost cutting and lack of anyone who seems to care has completely ruined this place. We will never go back. When I lived in Cotati, this place is where I worshiped every sunday morning at the altar of the almighty breakfast. You can never go wrong with the eggs, toast, potatoes, and chicken apple sausage. Their breakfast dishes have the perfect mixture salt, butter, and grease to warm over anybody's palate.They also have a very diet friendly menu for those in the party who are herbivores and vegans. Along with generous portion sizes and refillable coffee mugs that are the size of a small swimming pools(Good Coffee!) this is an all around good choice. The servers are a motley bunch, but have always been kind and expedient. As was previously mentioned the place can get pretty drafty, especially on those awesome wet winter days.
