I stayed here often last year (and even before that) as a post-bacc OSU student traveling from Corvallis to GP to see family. Then, after several stays the security they hire out harassed me while walking in the front door. He aggressively pulled up with a bullet proof vest on cutting me off from the front door with his car saying the front desk called security on me. Well, it was the middle of the day, I pulled into a spot near the front door, I was there for maybe 5 minutes sitting in my car finishing up a call, there were no other cars in the parking lot, and I have a nice looking car, so please explain why security would approach me other than being completely unprofessional and a bully. I was extremely upset after the encounter and was crying as I confronted the front desk. She swore she didn't call anyone and that security was lying to me. The front desk lady said she had never even seen that security guard before and he was obviously new. I called the main manager the next day and she 100% sided with security. She didn't seem to care one bit and said they were just doing their job. Several weeks later I stayed there again. I was still upset about what happened but I really liked a few of the employees and my bf liked the pool so I gave it another try. The second day of the stay I went to the front desk and wanted to pay for a second night. The supervisor at the time said there were no rooms available and that many were under construction. I knew she was lying. I was very upset later that day, so my father called that night and found out there were EIGHT rooms available. I went in the next day to talk with management (who wasn't there) and the gentlemen at the front looked up my account and said I was banned. He was really accommodating and let me take a picture of the screen showing I had been banned. He even checked my account for complaints but there was nothing and he hadn't heard anything. He didn't understand why that would even happen. Well, it's obviously because I complained about being harassed and lied to. If you're the owner reading this please reach out to me, I'd love to tell you more about what's going on there and the rest of the horrible experience. And if you're looking for a place to stay, don't stay here, there are many other great places to stay in GP. I can't believe this hotel is still in operation with management and security lying to customers. read more

Redwood Hyperion was not what I was lead to believe. Checked in on June 20 to check out on on the 22nd, My sister arrived ahead of me from a different state and asked to be allowed to sit by the pool and read her book. Sandy, the front desk clerk could not see her way clear to use her pool reader card to open the pool door to allow my sister to sit and read. Sandy told her to come back later when I was there. When I arrived 3 hours later I took issue with Sandy kickin my sister to the curb to read, She shoved papers in my face and told us she was 86 ing us as that was HER perogative as the manager while Shelly Beaudin was out of town on a 16 year long wait vacation. As we discussed where we should go since she was kicking us out, she relented to let us stay. Rooms were clean, however; the balcony rooms, one of which I requested was unavailable due to an overflowing toilet. Six balcony rooms unavailable due to one overflowing toilet? Saturday, June21 guess who is there in those balcony rooms "PEST CONTROL". I asked an employee why pest control was servicing the balcony rooms and I was told "maintenance". I think BED BUGS. BED BUGS are the only reason I can think why a block of rooms would not be available. The grounds are lovely but I will not stay again. Breakfast is carb city, possible bugs in the room, front desk Sandy will kick ya to the curb, bathroom doors barely clear the toilets. read more

It's not the worst motel I've ever stayed in but it was very close. The first thing that was obvious was the very rude lady at the front desk. Second was the brown spots and yellow stains on the sheet. I asked for clean sheets and it looks like they flipped the sheet over wrong side out. Thirdly the shower drain is plugged and you end up standing in a foot of water by the time your done taking a shower. I can't recommend this place and won't be coming back. read more

Motels simply do not get any better. We stumbled on this by accident and were beyond delighted. The rooms were so delightful and newly remodeled. Can't say enough good about the property. It is clean, charming, comfortable and the "lodge" decor just rocks. This is a must stay! read more

I hate motels, however finding yellow stains all over the sheets and a dirty ice tray definitely made my stay here less desirable. What makes this place worse is the lady who works at the front desk... She really needs some lessons in customer service or she should really find another job. I will not stay here again. read more

This was my first trip to Grants Pass. I thought the Redwood Motel was wonderful. The girl at the desk was very friendly and helpful when asked about things to see and do here. My room was very clean and quiet. Maybe if you get a room that allows pets you should expect some sort of odor...if nothing else than from your own animal. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone. read more

Suite was very nice and comfortable, however we could not get the one of 2 tvs to turn off or adjust the volume for the two nights we were there. Someone mentioned they were grilled at breakfast about there last name and room number. We were asked but we were not grilled about it and we have been asked that by other hotels it's not a problem.. The breakfast was not good at all. Paying 240 a night for two nights you would think you would get more then store bought muffins and cereal. So due to the breakfast issue I wouldn't go back. read more

Off-season prices are great! Clean, nice updated rooms. Pleasantly surprised. Would I recommend to my friends? Yes! Although the hotel is right on one of Grants Pass main roads, the room is quiet. Includes breakfast which is more than just a cold packaged Danish and juice/coffee. If I ever find myself in Grants Pass again, I will be staying at the Redwood Motel. read more

i should have read the reviews first! The one star is for a beautifully landscaped property. I could tell they really really tried hard to make it look great and they did a great job. I was so disappointed in this hotel. Room clean-up almost non-existent even after discussion with night manager and day manager. Bed thrown together like someone was in a hurry. trash cans not emptied. floor not vacuumed. dishes not washed. And I was told that the person who cleaned our room was the best in the hotel. i will NEVER return. read more

Came up Saturday and stayed till Monday for a funeral. The room was nice and clean with everything I needed. The staff was awesome. Everyone from behind the desk to the servers for breakfast. I had a very pleasant stay. I thank them all for making me feel appreciated. read more

great place. we stumbled upon it at 1:00 in the morning on our way from seattle to san francisco, didn't pay too much attention at the time, but were pleasantly surprised the next day. really clean rooms, well put together, didn't feel like there had been a thousand people in it before us, staff was very friendly and courteous. we liked is so much we stayed on our way home. great place and I would highly recommend it. read a few complaints about the breakfast, but for the convenience of not having to stop and shell out another $20 to $30 for a family of four, for not much better, i'll take the free one. thank you redwood motel! dave w read more

We stayed last night here and I was amazed. Considering it was a downtown Grants Pass, OR, this motel is easily the best value in the area. The room was ample with good amenities. The grounds manicured and the pool/hot tub area was a sort of oasis like setting. Yes, you are on a busy city street, but for $125/night I was very impressed. As to the room, large flat screen, full cable, firm (but not hard) bed and the room decor wad excellent. All things considered we were very pleased. read more

I stayed at the Redwood Hyperion Suites on a recent business trip. My suite was spacious with a whirlpool tub and view out to the pool area. Everything was so clean and well maintained, you can tell the staff and owner take pride in the hotel. The grounds have lovely landscaping and water features. There are also a couple gas fire pits to enjoy as well as outdoor seating (besides the pool area). The jacuzzi was relaxing. They also have a small exercise room and there is a small event center, which I could see being great for business events. They offer a continental breakfast in the morning (I enjoyed the waffle maker). This is small, but they also have really nice soap (not all hotels do!). All the staff I personally interacted with were very pleasant and accommodating. This is definitely going to be my spot whenever I'm down in Grants Pass for business or pleasure. read more

Nice hotel but awful owner. Are family wedding weekend ended with a owner who refused to give a few of us 30 minutes extra to check out on our last day. We had a large group for breakfast that took longer than expected and when I called to ask for 30 extra minutes to check out I was tole the owner said, "no"!! The were not booked up for that evening, I checked. The were just being jerks. So instead 30 satisfied customers you no have zero. 2 of us needed 30 minutes. Unbelievable!! The manager of the Black. Bear restaurant even called on our behalf and was told, "NO"! He said he was going to remove them from their referral list and the owner said, "do what you have to do". The Redwood needs to learn customer service. I feel sorry for there staff. The Black Bear Restaurant manager saved the day just by how much he cared about what was happing. They will be getting a 5 star review. read more

I've learned that hotel reviews can't be trusted. People who rarely travel tend to have lower standards than those who do, and their reviews tend to be better than they should be. I believe this to be true for this hotel. We stayed in a suite and paid about $240 a night for a room that wasn't worth over $150. The outside looks nice but the room was pretty antiseptic. No art on the walls, kitchenette looks like a walk in closet, toilet is dark and in a closet sized room, etc They ask you to please hang up and reuse you bath towels but they don't give you any place to hang them. My wife asked the front desk clerk for more towels but was told she couldn't have them. I went myself and "told" her to give me two more towels and you'd of thought that I asked her to clean our toilet with her toothbrush. The following morning I was given extra towels by a very nice and accommodating housekeeper. There are no wine glasses in the rooms and if you want one you have to "rent" it for a dollar!! Overall, the place is so-so, customer service is spotty (depending on who you ask) and the rooms are blah and way overpriced. Our particular suite was right next to a busy street and our granddaughter was kept awake all night. I won't stay there next time we're in Grants Pass. read more

We called late in the evening after a problem with another place to stay that was unsafe, we were told by the Night Manager to come on in (another 40 miles north) and that they could accommodate us. So we drove even further to their establishment with a promise of a room and when we got there late at night after driving 9 hours (with 2 minor children) that they didn't have a room for us and the person on duty could not get in touch with hotel management. He offered a suite at $100 more a night. That is all! After giving our room away in the middle of the night! Never ever go here! You certainly have choices and this shouldn't be one! The only other thing he offered was to call security on 2 women with 2 young girls in the middle of the night! Just despicable! Thank goodness we met a really nice man when we pulled into his parking lot to regroup and figure out what we were going to do! There are some really amazingly nice people in Grants Pass , that helped us. So avoid this hotel/motel like the plague! There are definitely other places to stay, that have compassionate people working for them. Not people who take no responsibility for their actions! read more

GREAT place to stay!! Tanya at the front desk was so sweet and accommodating. We had a dog with us and she gave us puppy biscuits and a room with a patio for our pup to get fresh air. I don't really know how to feel about this place. It seems like one of the best bets in Grants Pass, but that's not saying much. The grounds are really nice, and the rooms are decently decorated. I was turned off by the mildew in the shower, despite the otherwise clean room. My parents were next door, and their room was more recently remodeled, and the bathroom lacked the mildew that was in my room, so it's a bit of gamble. The room had a musty smell--just like a cabin that's been closed for too long. The wireless wasn't working in my room at all; we had to have our HotSpot (accidentally left behind) FedEx'd to us because the network wasn't showing up on any of our computers (in any of our three rooms). The sheets are less-than-stellar--scratchy, even. The red-haired housekeeping lady is really, really nice, and she seems to take great pride in her job. Kuddos to her! In the end, "Meh. I've experienced better" describes it perfectly. read more

Not sure when all these low star reviewers stayed at this place, but I don't think it was recent. My husband and I had a very enjoyable stay on our road trip down to get married. We were really impressed with the grounds and how updated the room was. We even walked around and admired the pool and amenities, thinking we'd be happy to stay longer than a night. It definitely felt more luxurious than a usual mid-range hotel, and especially upscale for a motel. Staff was very friendly and we appreciated the continental breakfast (even if the food was on the simple side). We tell all our friends and family to stop here and would definitely go back. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here while we were in Grants Pass and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. We just recently celebrated our anniversary and when we checked in around 9 or 10pm at night, the pool and hot tub were closed. The lady at the desk had unlocked the door for us and we were able to use the hot tub for a bit. It was very nice of them do that because they could of easily just said no, but it definitely made our anniversary a little better. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. I really enjoyed the coffee there as well, and I'm pretty particular with the type of coffee I drink. The continental breakfast was very good as well. Overall it was a great experience and we'll definitely be staying here again! read more

Let me preface this by saying I am a hotel snob. I didn't expect to find anything nearly this nice in grants pass. We booked a standard room ton kick off our honey moon and they upgraded us tons king suit. This suit is well appointed and reminds me of the new designer homes in the way it is designed and decorated. It has a pretty compete kitchenette, an office area, and the living area has leather club furniture. His and her sinks sit opposite a whirlpool tub big enough for two and a glass marble shower that's bigger than my bathroom at home; it even has a built in chair. It's incredibly clean, and it isn't that it just looks clean. The entire bathroom area is done in a light tile and mirrors so there's no place where grime can hide. The mattress is comfortable, European pillows, but unfortunately I think the sheets may be blended with synthetic fibers, but it w still breathable. Staff is great and the pool area looked nice. read more

Came from out of town in Sacramento and came to stay here the weekend of the eclipse. Booked the hotel about two weeks prior. Booked for a two queen sized pet friendly suite (unfortunately didn't bring our dog though) for a listed price of $192, but Tanya at the front desk who was extremely friendly and helpful discounted our price down to 173. The outside is very beautifully setup. Nice little falls, a pool and jacuzzi outside which is open until 10pm (but Tanya said she usually keeps it open until 11). The room was very neat and clean, AC kept the room extra cool. The room had a sliding closet with a mirror beside the bed farthest from the door. In addition, there was a little table with two seats and another HD tv to have a seat and drink your coffee. The room had a working mini fridge/freezer, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom has the the sink and mirror beside the dining table and has extra towels and bags inside the drawers. Behind was the door into the toilet/shower which was also very well kept up and clean. And those beds were amazing. Extremely comfortable and fresh. Extra pillow and blanket inside the closet as well as an ironing board. Overall, this was absolutely lovely hotel with a very kind hearted lady working the front desk. Food is just a few blocks from both sides of the hotel (Recommend the Taroko Asian Tapas Bar) and has beautiful scenery throughout. Also a basketball hoop setup on the far left of the property. If we ever come through Oregon and need a place to stay, this place will be where we are staying. Thanks again Tanya read more

i stayed here with my parents and my newborn so we could show her off to our in-town family, and payed $150 for one room. i chose this place because i had seen the beautiful pool and wanted to swim there. as we sat by the pool with a few family members visiting my baby, the desk clerks continuouslly came out to ask us for our keys and names and room numbers. they seemed to be watching us from the window to wait for us to make a mistake they could be right on top of. it was as uncomfortable as it gets and made the pool unapealing and unrelaxing. the rooms themselves were pretty nice and breakfast was ok but wasnt worth the constant attention we were getting and dont get me wrong, we are not a loud or obnoxious group of people read more

Shelly the manager along with the entire staff are rude and unprofessional. The maids do not clean the rooms properly and the breakfast is a joke. The only plus side was when we closed the door to the hotel room and drove off knowing we never have to come back to this over priced and under managed hotel. Instead of focusing on the exterior OWNER please put some money towards better management and staff. You are a disgrace to Keeping It Local. read more

I'm rather surprised by some of the really bad reviews this place has gotten, because my wife and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there! We had one of the upstairs two room suites, 2 big TV's, a fridge, sink, microwave, jacuzzi tub, 2 sided gas fire place, comfy bed. Breakfast was simple, bagels, other pastries, cereal, juice, coffee, fresh fruit, but it was fine. Room was clean, towels were soft. Yeah, it's located right between two of the city's busiest streets, but we had hardly any noise in our room. The grounds are really clean, right below our room they had a couple little watercourses, beautiful landscaping. Our room was set back off the street quite a bit, and we faced 7th street, maybe the rooms on the other side facing 6th and closer to that even busier street are noisier? From what I saw, virtually all the motels are along the 6th street corridor. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Redwood Hyperion Suites in Grants Pass Oregon this past August. After the first night, we detected that our room was infested with ants around the bathroom sink, night stands and table. The assistant manager on duty that weekend offered to spray the room with Raid. We were unhappy with the idea of staying in a room where a chemical would be sprayed extensively. We were not offered an alternate room. At our own expense, we purchased some ant traps to place in the room. However, the ant problem continued. When we checked out, we were given a $20 credit, for our "inconvenience", on a $479 total bill. Upon returning to Portland we tried to speak to Shelly Beaudin, the General Manager, but after calling multiple times over a two week period and leaving messages, she was reported to be "out" and never returned our calls. We have unsuccessfully tried to reach the proprietor, the von Colln family to provide our feedback but also without success. We were treated very poorly throughout our stay at the Redwood Hyperion Suites and wouldn't recommend the property to anyone. read more

Staying two nights. First impression was great. Nice staff, large clean room with two queen size beds and a fridge. Pool and exercise room were both in great shape. The laundry room was a huge bonus for us since we had been on the road for three days prior. The property seems well maintained and I would recommend a stay here. read more

On arrival, the room looked nice and smelled clean. But after a short while, the cleaning fluids became overwhelming. It burned my eyes and throat, I had to open the door despite it being under 50 degrees outside. The bed was comfortable and I had no complaints about the staff or the room, other than the cleaning fluids they use, and use too much. read more

worst. motel. ever. i opted to stay at the redwood motel because it looked nice in the pictures... what a horrible decision! upon arrival, i was overwhelmed with the smell of musty motel room. there was mold along the shower and when i went to use a hand towel, the entire rack fell off in my hand. the bed [a king] wasn't very comfortable, but the mini-fridge was a nice touch. i stayed in a "suite" and it had a tiny patio with a small weeded area. the highlight of my stay was coming back one night at 1030pm only to find they recoded the locks and left a note on the door. long story short, i was ILLEGALLY KICKED OUT because i was in a non-pet room - i am in a wheelchair and have a service dog. i went to the front desk the next morning and had the pleasure of speaking with shelly, the general manager. before this, i was under the assumption that managers, much less general managers, were knowledgeable about laws pertaining to the type of business they manage. boy was i wrong! shelly insisted that i had to leave because i was not in one of their pet friendly rooms even though i pointed out several times that my dog is a service dog and allowed any place that the general public is allowed... shelly was not having it. she continued with the classic "i'm sorry, but..." line over and over. i asked to speak with her boss, but she said she is it - scary! shelly continued on, set on her stance, even though the lobby was full of customers trying to enjoy their breakfast. i had a scheduled appointment to get to, but i told shelly i would be back to take care of my stuff. while i was out, i contacted the ada hotline and spoke with a representative... i gave her the whole story and she confirmed my thoughts - i was being illegally kicked out as it does not matter if my service dog is in a non-pet room. i returned to gather my things because i was so disgusted with the way i was treated that i did not want to be there any longer than i had to and, wouldn't ya know it, the locks were recoded again! i went to the front office, picked up a new key, got my stuff and got the hell out of there. i ended up at the la quinta in grants pass and it was a million times better! read more
