We booked a stay here on our way to California since it was late and we had the worst hotel experience to date. We got there around 12am. There was a couple of things that happened. 1 - We we're given a room key to a room that someone was already in! We opened the door and the door wedge hit, made a loud clunk and someone yelled "HEY!!!" 2 - The second room we got was not cleaned, the soap was used and there were bugs all over the room! Even under the sheets, picture for your reference. Not sure what bugs they were. After all of this fiasco we were promised that we weren't going to be charged through hotels.com I waited a week and still saw the charge and had to call the hotel and hotels.com to get my refund. By far was the worst hotel my family has ever been to, what a disappointment considering we've always had luck at Best Western in the past. Definitely not a standard best western that I'm use to. I thought it was a hotel. Not motel. Check in- oh my gosh I wish I got her name she was so freaking nice and friendly. In fact every staff member was so damn nice it was such a nice relief. Rooms are about normal size. Nothing too fancy. I did like the full length mirror. Toilet room is kinda tiny. Beds were super comfy even the pillows had different firmness so you could choose which you wanted without having to call. And they gave 4 pillows for a queen. That was nice. Probably one of the most tv channels I've been to in a hotel. They don't have breakfast available for you to eat down in the lobby. They have grab and go bags and give you an option on what to pack. I have been to some grab and go hotel breakfast and they are kind of stingy one granola bar one piece of fruit one juice. And usually the stuff isn't very good. Here, they're grab and go breakfast you get to choose juice fruit yogurt muffin a breakfast sandwich or cereal, they give you lots of options I ended up with a breakfast sandwich apple juice banana yogurt muffin and then they threw some cookies in for a treat. My biggest complaint is that the walls are really thin. Like my neighbors woke me up by laughing too loud... usually it's door slams but I could literally hear everything they were saying. So that's annoying. We came during a shut down so the pool was closed but that's ok it was cold anyways. I ended up in a room with a conjoining door and when my neighbors arrived they tried to open it which was extremely terrifying because I am staying by myself as a single lady. I love this cute western themed BW Hotel & the extra peek is it was pet friendly...now granted my dog is a Service Animal it was nice that my girl didn't have to find a place to potty in rocks..this location had a ample grass space which allowed her to have some long line activity for her to fun and play ball her favorite things to do. If it weren't for our exhaustion from our road trip, we would have found another place to stay, but the hotel nextdoor was fully booked. The front desk staff was polite and informative, so this review is no reflection on them. Our room greeted us with a stale, musty scent. It was warm, and the AC unit struggled. We did our best to settle in but immediately noticed stains and streaks of dirt on the bedding top covers. There were Unidentifiable dark spots on the carpet near the sink, and hair belonging to previous guests stuck on the mirror and shower walls. The room hadn't cooled after an hour of changing the settings on the AC unit. Finally, we moved the small table and chairs crammed in front of the unit to another part of the room, and it worked perfectly. One problem solved. Given all the issues though, we still did not sleep well. read more

This hotel should not be branded as Best Western. Ive never been to Best Western this bad before. First off, our room was not clean. Hotel is very old and everything is worn out. Our beds were shot, carpets stained and dirty and the bathroom was very worn out. But that isn't the reason for the 1 star review. This place is clearly having a problem with prostitution. There was obviously people turning tricks out of here. That may sound funny but it wasn't. Lots of arguments going on between "guests." We could hear people having sex in other rooms. There is no privacy as the rooms have adjoining doors, so all sounds come through. You can hear people using the bathroom, talking or anything else. In the few hours I was here the police made an arrest in the parking lot of some women, I don't know why, but it was strange. Also the police patrol this hotel constantly, that can't be a good sign. We didnt feel safe here and ended up leaving after a few hours. And this was in the evening time. I can't imagine what this place is like late on a weekend night. We ended up driving 7 miles south to the Rogue River Best Western. Its a much better property than this one. I would not recommend this place. read more

This particular Best Western is a fine spot to stay for the night when passing through Grants Pass. I can't say it's the nicest or best hotel, but it's passable and reasonably priced so I'd stay here again. They are pet friendly, even for cats, which is why we choose to stay here when driving down to California. The rooms are reasonably clean and the beds are comfortable. Our AC worked well, but the room was wet/humid feeling when the AC is on. There is a good amount of noise pollution due the location near the freeway and poor insulation so keep that in mind if that may be an issue for you. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They do offer free continental breakfast, but it was pretty disappointing even for a best western. Would I stay here again? Maybe. It's conveniently located right off the freeway and the prices are very reasonable. It's definitely a "2-star hotel," but it's not terrible. read more

I was there with 10 other families for a softball tournament. This review is inclusive of the full group's experience. The rooms are functional but this is an older property. Most of our rooms smelled musty. One room had old food from a prior guest in the fridge. Another room had animal poop in it. One of our families arrived at 10pm - nobody was at the front desk to check them in; after calling and waiting for @30 minutes they gave up and went next door to a competitor. I have always had good luck with BW, this time it was substandard. read more

I was born and raised in GP and have stayed here many times when I've come home to visit. I have observed it slowly going downhill with each visit. Last weekend was a holiday weekend so I couldn't be too picky. Hindsight is 20/20. So why 2 stars? I'm giving it 2 stars because the front desk clerk was so nice to generously allow for a very early check-in at 11 am vs 3pm after we drove all night and morning from So Cal, otherwise it would be a 1 star. The room was dirty, carpet stained, odd smell, and last but not least infested with BUGS that devoured us. Between 2 of us, we had over 20 itchy bites in 2 days! I don't know if they were bed bugs (never encountered those before) or merely mosquitoes biting us as we slept but we're still scratching at bites 4 days later. Upon check-out, I advised the staff the room needed fumigation and ironically, their computers crashed so they were unable to add notes. I did not receive a follow up phone call or email. For all considering a stay here, don't. Unless you want to be covered in bug bites, don't stay in #244. Best Western...you lost a customer. read more

Best Western in name only. This is basically a 1950's motel or motor lodge with a fresh coat of paint and a Best Western sign slapped on the side. The rooms are a $59.99 value, but being sold to you for $120ish. There are a few positives, but let me start with the long list of negatives: - The walls and ceiling (if you're on the first floor) are very thin!! You'll hear the person above you walking around from one side of their room to another. Bring ear plugs. - No microwave or minifridge. - No elevator to the 2nd floor. - Towels are those really thin, low thread count ones you would use to dry your car. - The pool and hot tub are shared with the next door Holiday Inn so good luck trying to find some real estate in either to relax. - Everyday after I get back from work my room key gets the red light as it's been de-magnetized and I have to go to the front desk to get new cards. - The door to your room does not close completely, letting in light and noise and letting out the a/c or heat. The positives: - The staff are really friendly. - The breakfast is pretty standard, but they had tortillas along side the English muffins, which is a first for me at a hotel, so I could make breakfast burritos! read more

This is why I gave two stars; the bed was ok and the service at the front seat was great. Happy polite and accommodating. We have a dog so of course we told the front desk and paid the appropriate fees. I know this means we will indeed get a room that accommodates dogs and with that is so times a dog smell. I get it. However, the smell was so horrific I could barely do it! Not so much a dog smell but a heavy duty urine smell. a smell that is kindred to an elder home with urine smells. The carpet felt so filthy it was like waxy feeling against the feet. Even with dogs I need clean. read more

I got a room here in a real pinch when my car broke down in the middle of a road trip. The staff here especially Jon at reception really treated me with kindness in a very stressful situation and got me and my pets in a room right away. The room was clean and very comfortable and we had everything we needed while I had to wait for my car to be fixed. 10/10 customer service here, I would recommend this business to anyone passing through Grants Pass! read more

As someone who travels a lot, I have been to a few dives - but, so few to ever prompt me enough to write a review, but I believe the Best Western in Grant's Pass does warrant the extra few minutes. I am a BW Elite Member, and spend most of my time on the road, traveling for work, this experience tops my list of worst. 1) I arrived at my room around 6pm and there wet spots on the carpet around the room. I figure there is a pool a few doors down, maybe th guest before my wasn't very thoughtful? Who knows, but worth a mention. 2) Overall cleanliness of the room was cause for sorry. There are stray hairs in the bathtub and a strange odor in the room, to say the least. 3) Biggest offense was the noise. All. Through. The. Night. You can hear every sneeze, every footstep, every breath of any one in surrounding rooms. Best of all? I was promptly awoken at 7:30am by the sound of jackhammers outside of my room, which now - an hour later (as I write this review) are as loud as ever as they work on construction on Elmer's, which shares a parking lot - the work being done, literally 50 feet outside of my window. Paid full room price only to be driven out of my room early in the morning so I can get the sound of non-stop jackhammering out of my head! What a rip off. I don't imagine it would have been too hard to warm guests that this may occur?? read more

I wish I would have stayed somewhere else. I'm not impressed at all. After driving all day long, this location is very load with traffic.

Happy as can be with my stay here! I look for just a few specific things in a hotel: location, cleanliness, breakfast, parking and wifi. If that's all covered, I'm good! I don't need fancy, just a comfortable enough bed and solid water pressure in the shower!! And if the price is decent, all the better. This place covered everything I needed, plus some. It was hot in Grants Pass this past weekend, but the room was super nice due to the air conditioner! It was great walking into a cool room after a hot day driving. Shower was great, nice towels. Wifi worked without any issues. Breakfast was definitely better than most! All kinds of options, including waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon and more. And if you want to stay healthy (like I do!) then they had cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit and bagels! Super. Everyone at the front desk smiled, and was friendly and helpful. Finally the location was perfect! Close to downtown and the freeways, and walking distance from all kinds of restaurants. read more

When I called the motel directly to book a room for the next night, a friendly person at the front desk was able to book a room for us. She gave me the feeling that she wanted to help me which I liked. I used the AAA guide book to find this motel. Our room was clean, pleasant, and the price was reasonable. They offered a full breakfast. I decided to call to book another night for our return trip. The same staff person answered the phone with her welcoming voice. Good stopping point from Portland on the way to San Francisco. Have stayed here in the past, but this particular time, it seemed to have "slipped a bit", in my opinion. I had a good giggle when I saw they did such a FAB job of redoing the little breakfast bar but sad they didn't put this much attention in to the rooms. I will say the front desk staff was very nice and professionally dressed. Which I frankly appreciate. Back to the restaurant: Hm, lets see, can we say "cocktail tables" without cocktails. It was so awkward to maneuver the buffet bar and there was no way a person with any kind of handicap, let alone a wheelchair could have managed. The food was pretty bad and the hot food was cold and many of the serving trays were empty and this was @ 8:30 AM on a weekday. I couldn't make it work on any level, not even cold cereal, so off to Starbucks I go, I will eat later. I should also stay I don't stay here for the restaurant, but 2 years ago, it was wonderful and got us started heading south, so we didn't have to stop for another meal for hours. My TV also went off cable and it never did come back on. Front desk couldn't help with this issue either. The room was o.k., nothing to write home about, again. Clean, adequate size, bed's o.k., but I can't see staying here past 1 or 2 nights. Not having a frig and a microwave is a down side as well. Honestly, now worth the bargain rate, AAA or not of $125.00 a night, mid week. read more

Not the fanciest motel around -- perhaps not worthy of the "Best Western" name -- but it isn't terrible either. The rooms are dated but mine was clean. It was missing those little shampoo bottles (they only gave me lotion and conditioner - wtf), but the desk folk rectified it immediately. Breakfast is included with your stay which is pretty solid. It's a grab-n-go bag in the COVID days which is actually decent. You might find a few weirdos milling about but mostly the clientele is fine. For a budget hotel within striking distance of the fabulous Oregon coast, you could certainly do worse. read more

The staff was friendly and everything, but here is a photo of my baby's onesie after crawling on the hotel room floor for TEN MINUTES. We dressed her for the day, put her down for ten minutes for myself and my husband to get ready, too, but when we went to pick her up, she was extremely dirty! That doesn't even include the dirt all over her feet. I understand that the maids have many rooms to clean, but you would think the hotel would make time at least once a month to steam clean the carpets or something. Super gross to think my baby was on that floor, let alone us walking barefoot! (We write this knowing that not all hotels are somewhat dirty, but we have traveled A LOT in our daughter's ten months of life and have never experienced this amount of dirt in the many, many hotels we've stayed at). read more

Check in was friendly and prompt. Our room was clean. The shower had a faucet that was piped improperly, so cold was hot and hot was cold. The shower curtain was too short and thus water could go all over the bathroom. As with most hotels, we are all asked to consider reusing our towels more than one time. That is wonderful, but I am at a loss as to why you would replace the towels yet leave beds unmade when servicing the room. Be prepared for smokers to stand immediately outside YOUR room to smoke. Really thoughtful. So while there are signs designating a non-smoking property, you will undoubtedly have a person smoking immediately outside your door so it wafts inside to you. This was not an amazing or excellent experience. It was a clean room with two beds and some issues that may be easily addressed. My question is merely if they actually *will* be addressed. read more

Literally the WORST hotel I have EVER stayed at. Family of four here, went to check in yesterday and the lady at the front desk said I didn't have a reservation. Wouldn't believe me that I had one until I physically showed her my confirmation...while finding the email I overheard the lady charge the other person she was helping more than once and she made that person prove the double charge to her claiming he was wrong as well. Finally we get our room, but it's a second floor room when we asked for a first floor, we have little kids and no elevator, awesome. It's SUPER LOUD all night long with loading and unloading for the nearby businesses, terrible nights sleep. Fast forward to the next morning- our family goes in for breakfast at 930am (breakfast goes until 10) everything is gone. No eggs, no pancake mix, no gravy, literally 2 kinds of cereal and a couple yogurts. I heard a lady ask for more eggs and the best western staff member told her it was too late for her to make more. I asked a staff member if they would get more waffle mix and she rudely told me that breakfast ended at 10am and 930 was too late for her to make anything...EVERY SINGLE person that works here was extremely rude and clearly hates their job. I will never be back and plan on calling corporate, it was THAT bad! Ps: it takes a lot for me to make a yelp complain! read more

This hotel was such a disappointment. I paid ahead of time to get a deal and I regretted it. The place is generally shabby. The staff was nice, but the place is NOISY--both inside and outside the rooms. The place looks old, and the walls are thin. You can hear everything from your next neighbors. It's next to a freeway and talk about LOUD. There were smokers right outside the doors of the rooms, a guy grilling on a homemade grill right outside my door, and yelling in the middle of the night. OVERALL VALUE: 2 double bed room Save a few bucks, get free breakfast, and don't bother with Holiday Inn. The exterior is kind of aged, but has new paint. It's at the end of a quiet commercial street and generally a nice quiet area with a fun little out door pool. CLEANLINESS; Very clean. No complaints here. And I always check. SLEEPY TIME Bed was comfortable. Pillows were better than many Best Western Pillows that tend to be too thick. BATHROOM; a bit on the small side. Shared the room with 4 adults. It was cramped. STANDARD SIZE TOILET: my package fits (male#2 friendly). AMENITIES (or lack in this case) The flat screen TV is too small. A 42" should be standard in this size of room. Where is the fridge and bottle opener?!?! Very disappointed these items were missing and should be included to show their additional value compared to Whoretel 6. Overall critique; I like Best Westerns, but this should be a few bucks less. I think I paid 110 per night, but this is a $90 room on an average Friday night. read more

I have stayed in a lot of Best Westerns. Ones much older than this one. This one was not worth the money. We had one towel one hand towel one was cloth. Though the lobby of hotel is nicely decorated the rooms are tired. We had an upstairs room. The doors are external only so there was some noise and light showing under the door. There was a smell in the room which was a mix of clean smell and rich history of others. Our room was small but affordable. The walls were a little on the thin side and I could hear the neighbors TV. The bathroom was really tiny. The caulk around the tub was sloppy but clean. The coffee from lobby was good. Breakfast was so so (fake eggs). Bed was comfortable as were pillows We decided next time to upgrade and pay another few dollars and try another hotel for the extra level of comfort and newness. read more

My last layover in Grant's Pass was not great -- I wasn't optimistic based on that exeprience and preferred to avoid the town. My friend insisted so I called around for rates instead of looking on Air BnB and found a friendly woman at the other end of the line, so off we went. The lobby is pretty basic but clean. The lobby bathroom was clean. The ladies at the desk were super nice and friendly. The check-in process was delayed only by me and my friend using the facilities in the lobby. Our room was super clean -- everything was very tidy and well cared for. The beds were comfy and we weren't interrupted with noisy neighbors or traffic. Hot water was plentiful and so were towels. Disgusting! This is nothing more than a Motel 6, with the price tag ($99) of a Hilton. The shower had pubic hairs in it and the front ledges of the night stands, TV stand and the wooden storage closet were caked with dust. The bed was so rock hard, that I was up most of the night. Felt like I was sleeping on the BOX SPRING, not a mattress. Maybe it was the box spring. I paid over $100 for the WORST NIGHTS SLEEP in my 56 years of life. This place blows! There were a couple of small pieces of trash on the carpet that housekeeping by-passed, in fact, housekeeping by-passed everything. MOST DISGUSTING PLACE I'VE EVER STAYED. read more

So, our soccer team from PDX had a game down here. The staff was super accommodating, making sure that we were clustered together, so we could monitor the kids that didn't have parental supervision. The breakfast was fab, and the biscuits and gravy was better than I've had in Portland. They were attentive, clean and on point. I would stay here again if I'm in Grants Pass. Well done ladies!
