I dislike writing negative reviews especially for a product I truly enjoy. However I am so disappointed in the complete absence of Reed's online customer service that I feel compelled to warn others to stay away from ordering Reed's products online through the Reed's website. I ordered crystallized ginger through the Reed's online store. The process was tedious because their online order form was buggy and archaic. Long story short, while it seemed that I was successful in placing my order, received 2 confirmation emails, and my credit card was charged, my online order status showed 'failed' and my items were never shipped. I tried to email their online store and customer service but never received a response. I then tried calling their online customer service and consumer issue numbers but quickly realized no one at Reed's answers their phones in any of the departments. After repeated unsuccessful attempts at trying to reach someone at Reed's, I gave up. While Reed's products may be tasty, their complete disregard for consumers and questionable business practices have soured my view of Reed's. How can such a successful company treat customers so badly? read more

This review pertains almost exclusively to their Flying Cauldron Non-Alcoholic Butterscotch Beer. Don't get me wrong. I love their Virgil's label (including the $5-a-bottle special edition Bavarian Nutmeg Root Beer, with its flavors of anise, honey, licorice, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, wintergreen, cassia oil, sweet birch and molasses), as well as their ginger ale. You've heard plenty about them, however, and yet nothing at all about their Harry Potter-inspired elixir. As the label reads: "Since 1374, the Flying Cauldron has been making this magical brew for under aged wizards and wizards who are young at heart at their brew pub in Hogsbreath England. The recipe has changed little over the centuries. It has the perfect combination of spells and quality natural ingredients." The moment I saw this on my birthday this past January I knew it would be love. There was definitely a market for this beverage. Ever since I'd read about butterbeer in "The Prisoner of Azkaban" I'd been dying to try it. I'd attempted a few batches myself boiling A&W cream soda and butter, with butterscotch syrup and other ingredients, but the concoction usually went flat and while it tasted all right I didn't have much faith in my own handywork. Anything else others have given me which they called butterbeer was pretty much root beer with whipped cream. Now, while Flying Cauldron (gluten-free) isn't quite what I'd imagine butterbeer tastes like and it's not outright declaring itself to be butterbeer, it's one tasty drink. Butterscotch is not a flavor I'm accustomed to being combined with carbonated water, and it's usually looped in with other dessert flavors like chocolate (I really dislike chocolate soda). Flying Cauldron's flavor is light and quite delightful. I have an empty bottle next to me right now and even just smelling its magical aroma is refreshing. I've only found Flying Cauldron at Rocket Fizz shops and Whimsic Alley (the Harry Potter store on Wilshire made to look like Diagon Alley on the inside), sold individually ($2, usually) and in 4-packs ($7.99). If you can find it elsewhere, I definitely recommend giving it a try. Chocolate frogs and Every Flavor Beans optional. read more

Reed's is one of the few (if only) naturally delicious sodas. Reed's has options for any taste bud - from its flagship Reed's Ginger Brew to its delicious Virgil's Root Beer to a healthy, probiotic-rich kombucha line. The Reed's Extra Ginger Brew is my favorite. Once you get over the initial bite of the flavor (because of the natural ginger), it's a refreshing treat. I have multiple food allergies (their products are gluten, soy and diary free!) and ginger is a natural remedy and anti-inflammatory. For this reason, I highly recommend Reed's Ginger chews - a sweet, chewy snack that also does wonders for the every day upset stomach. It has been about two years since I had soem Reed's Ginger Beer. I recently heard that their stock is trading up so I tried to find the review I must have written. Well I can't find it. But here's what I remember. First know that I've known ginger beer and have been a big drinker of that and champagne cola (especially all that Goya) like any island boy in Brooklyn (and Heineken). But I'm not an island boy, I'm worse. A spoiled connosuier, who can't spell. So whereas a number of people get that look on their face like they just swallowed a ball of wasabi, I'm actually used to ginger beer. I really liked Reed's most bully brand with the highest percentage of ginger. It stands up to bourbon rather nicely, and it's a good stiff drink all by itself. Without going into the pansyness of lite beer drinkers, Reeds comes with the good stuff. There is one downside to the whole Reeds scenario. It's got all the flavors of a billion dollar enterprise, but it's still a small company. So you're not likely to run into a wide selection of their products which makes it a hit or miss opinion. If I remember correctly they have at least 4 different ginger beers. If you don't like one, you'd probably like the other, especially the honey sweetened one. Problem is your Trader Joes probably only has one version. The fact is so many of their flavors are hits...how do I know this? I got a factory tour, lucky me. Yes, the ginger candy rocks. Yes they were starting a Harry Potter something or other that was er um, interesting. But they really put flavor into their sodas that make you think - wow, what have I been missing all these years. I can't remember if they pissed off guys at Galco or BevMo, but I get pissed when I don't see more Reeds on the shelves when I go there. Reed's quality on their best stuff is right up there with Fentiman's and the best gourmet sodas money can buy. It's just hard to get your hands on 'em. read more

Have you ever seen so many polarizing reviews for a beverage company. I usually like their soft drinks but I think they've changed their ginger beer formula. There's a weird sourness to it and the ginger punch just isnt there anymore. The ginger chew candy however is still really solid. Didnt realize they had a butterscotch beer or a root beer. As a fan of obscure or less mainstream soft drinks, Ill have to keep finding more of their products. 3.5 stars read more

I love Reed's extra ginger beer! Sometime going found out that they now offer a low calorie version that is sweetened with Stevia. So I placed an order online April 1st. It is now towards the end of me and I still have not received my order nor have I received any explanation from the company as to why my order has been delayed or what is going on? OMG... Reed's Inc. Virgil's line of soda's are out of this world. I tasted the Orange Cream Soda, Root Beer, Black Cherry Cream soda and Virgil's real cola. The flavors are rich and creamy... As they say, "You'll swear it's Made in Heaven" I only could find it at a Whole Foods store in Las Vegas. If you want a nice refreshing spring or summer drink, I recommend Virgil's line of Soda's and Cola. It is even tasty on cold winter days. They also have diet soda. I look forward to sampling other Reed product items in the future. read more

I was recently coming down with a cold. My throat and ears were hurting, I was starting to get chest tightness and I knew I was about to get the phlegm congestion in my chest and be miserable. I got online to look for chest congestion remedies and saw ginger is great. I thought "what better way to get ginger than from the extra ginger brew" and I swear by it. I drank one before I went to bed and the next day I already felt better. When I got out of the shower the next morning, I drank another. Every time my throat tickled or I coughed and sounded congested, I'd drink one. 3 days later, I am still feeling great and I never had to get all that chest congestion that usually accompanies the cold. This stuff is my new go-to drink! I already liked it..but now, I have even more of a reason to drink it! read more

Reed's Extra Ginger Brew is to die for!! However, it is not for the faint-hearted because this ginger brew has a big kick of ginger in it (26 gms no less!). I love ginger ale and hand's down this is the best one out there. Highly highly recommend! read more

After hearing about Reed's ginger chews on WGN radio I tried to get some at Trader Joes. Trader Joes carried a competitor that I tried first, then I found Reed's earlier this week at a Whole Foods. The competitor, for the same price, offered double the amount of chews than Reed's does. Also, I've opened up a few of Reed's chew wrappers to find half of a chew. Yay! Horrible customer service. I ordered a case of the Bavarian Nutmeg Root Beer as a Christmas present for my son. Since I had ordered the same in the past for us, I was anticipating no delivery problems. I found out a couple of weeks after the money for the order was deducted from my account that the order had never arrived. After a lot of e-mailing asking for a tracking number, I finally got one which indicated that the delivery had been made to Washington DC (not Manassas Va.) I keep trying to get in touch with these people, and they are ignoring me. Too bad, as we enjoyed this product very much, and I have no complaints with the quality of their merchandise. read more

The Reeds Crystallized Ginger is amazing! We first bought it in the small bag . Then we got the tin . . many of them. But that can get very expensive very fast. So, I went to the website and found a 11-lb bag for about $36 - which is cheaper than any other website selling it! This is a perfect way to feed our craving for this incredible ginger treat! We tried one competitor that makes it in the factory in Santa Cruz as it was more ginger for less money. But that only applied to the small bags. I wrote them them about buying a larger amount, but it is almost double what Reeds is charging. If you love crystallized ginger - I guarantee you will love this! We also love the ginger soda. Have not tried the ginger ice cream . . . yet! The only fly in the ointment for Reeds is in their order processing and shipping departments. It is my opinion, but a think Mr. Reed needs to clean house and find people who actually care about good service! Now it is over two weeks later and I have not received my order nor can I contact anyone at Reed's, I have left messages with the CEO down to Customer Service with no returned calls....guess next is to hand it over to my lawyer read more

Their Vergil's Real Soda is really good, however their online customer service is severally lacking in costumer service. I placed an order through their online site for a Christmas gift for my husband. I never received a confirmation email, therefore I never got an order number or confirmation number. I tried to contact them through several emails, they were never answered. I tried calling, left a message, never heard back. When I finally got ahold of someone, days later, he said he was away from the office and he would call me back in 30 mins, he never called back. Luckily I received my order, but due to the lack of customer service, I do not recommend ordering from their web site. Go through Amazon, at least they will back you up. read more
