This place is fine and standard. Nothing to really shine or stands out but you'll be happy there. Good place for games easy for lunches too.

I'm 15 and go to reef and beef quite frequently with friends. Since we are young we don't have that much money to spend, but we're always sure to tip at least 15% for good service. My friend and I went for lunch and our waiter told us that we didn't tip enough last time and we should tip 20% for good service. And sis he really had the nerve to say "good" service, meanwhile he was playing cards, on his phone, and we had to ask for ketchup and refills. The service here is HORRIBLE, we waited an hour and a half for our food and our waiter came to check on us TWO times out of the 2 hours we were there. Apps were better then the entrees. Came here with a group for Irish music food and beverages. Appetizers were all delicious including fiery calamari, buffalo chicken wings, and joes beefsteak. Those went down easy with our drinks of beers, reef lemonade and wine etc. main courses were all a hit as well with special corned beef and cabbage, French dip (big), crab cake sandwiches, and steak quesadilla. Nice make over and a decent pour of happy hour wine but their claim to fame 60/40 burger's were OK but not as good as say Harpoon Willies or The Ark Pub. This place (when it was Edgar's) used to have the best burger in my opinion. Then one day it becomes Reef and Barrel and I had to see if the burger was still good. Good news, it was better. Their 60/40 burger is what dreams are made of. Literally, I dream about this burger weekly. It was cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth. I'm a burger snob so this is a big deal. We also got chicken lettuce wraps which were okay, probably wouldn't get them again. There's always this same bartender lady there when I go and she's really friendly so that's another plus! For $14 the 60/40 burger should be 86'd. Supposedly, 60% ribeye and 40% smoked bacon. HOW COULD IT BE DRY? It was. Asked for Medium, came Medium well. That is not a deal breaker but at Medium well it should not be dry. Bun, just average. Fresh, toasted, but lacked any kind of flavor that would add to the burger. Fried onions on top were good. (how can they be bad) One onion ring placed on top of the burger. Obviously, it was just laying around because it was only luke warm and very greasy. Oh, and for the record, the burger was just an average size, and compacted too hard. I substituted sweet potato fries for regular fries. The sweet potato fries were very good. Friday and Saturday night you can count on great music...and not too loud...you can hear the person next to you without straining, but the band is always cool...when it's a big game, they do that right, with sound! Friday Night (8:30-11:00) Experience- I grew up in the "SG" and Edgars had been there as long as I can remember. The "new Edgars" was awesome. Better food, management, and service. Then the name changed to Reef and Barrel. I get trying to fix what is broken, but from an outsider looking in Edgars seemed to be doing well and had a long standing reputation. Can't figure this one out. Atmosphere- It looks like Jon Taffer (bar rescue) threw up on this place. You walk in and there is a "shore theme" everywhere you look from the decor, ceiling fans, to the wait staffs blue T-shirts. It is like when you go in to an old lady's summer house and you know there is a 100% chance of the soap dispensers being sea shell and know there will be some kind of tacky beach "welcome" picture frame. Bar- The bar itself is excellent. Probably a lot of wasted space with the huge rectangle bar, but I like to sit at the bar sometimes so it works for me! The bartenders are friendly and quick. The drinks are strong, they have a decent tap selection, and drink prices are reasonable. Appetizers- Takes forever to come out. The guy next to me at the bar ordered apps and it came out 1 hour later when he was on his way out the door. He didn't push the issue, but the bartender or manager didn't offer to comp them. Really? The apps did look good though. Unfortunately no one tried them. I should of snagged the plate before the bartender scooped it up! Food- After we had a few drinks, my group moved to the tables. Looking around the seating area, 9 out of 10 people got burgers. This is what Edgars was known for. The burgers were still awesome. I don't understand how they came out perfect temperature 1hr and 20 minutes later. It wasn't even that busy. I like how you can pick toppings for the burger, but the add on prices are off. $1 for lettuce and tomato, really? Then cheese is another dollar. Some of the items like avocado slices were $2, which was too far out there. My group thought that this was a little absurd. The burgers were as good as Edgars. Probably best around. Their other menu items were a little on the pricey side compared to Edgars and the menu itself shrunk exponentially. I was tempted to try the ice cream sandwhich, but $7 for it seemed kind of high. Maybe it is worth it. I'll find out one of these days. Service- There were blue shirts everywhere. Bar service was excellent. Table service was bad. Did not see any managers to address the hours people were waiting for the food. It was unacceptable. It just wasn't us, there were a lot of "hangry" people. Echo another review, with unapologetic waitress whose mind seemed to be on another planet. We didn't even complain once, but she should of known that the service was that bad. Hopefully this is corrected. Overall- When I am back in town, I will go there again. I will walk there, drink a few beers, get a burger, not care that it took forever, enjoy it, drink some more, and then stumble to my folk's house. I am a patient person, and that sounds like an awesome time to me. However, if that does not fit your night out, then I hope the lack of service, management, and food wait times improve. Three strikes and you're out. Bottom line, this is sub par food served in a nicely decorated environment. This was the third time and I have to say I'm not wasting money or hard earned calories on this. First if we want to have 2-1 burger night out on the roof, what's the problem? After finding a seat in the only high point of this place, a small roof top with tables and a bar, we go to order the burgers and were told we can't do that. That's for the inside downstairs only. Fine. We move inside and order the 60/40 MR and a classic M. The 60/40 was overdone. The Classic was practically raw. The "cilantro lime" corn cob came plain and the fries were old, soggy and barely warm and I finally met a brioche bun I did not like. The place was empty and our food took about 25-30 minutes. The worst crime.... They put generic ketchup in Heinz bottles. Total bulls*it. In fairness, the manager tried to smooth things over lacklusterl-ly but in this area where restaurants are a plenty with good views, this place needs to tighten it up. There is a lot of inefficiency. Food took over an hour to come out. They have one machine for the servers to input the orders and they all line up. We had the grilled caesar which was pretty good. The meat was cold in the taco's, good quality though. The mini burgers were good. Reef and Barrel will need to work out the kinks of the kitchen. Very overpriced. "The slab" bacon was literally one strip of bacon for 9$. I could have walked to acme down the street and got 2lbs of bacon and cooked it myself by the time it came out. Tried dinner at Reef & Barrel last night and was really impressed with all the changes that were recently made. First off, the new design definitely makes the space more open and inviting. Great job to whoever was responsible. But the real star of the night was the food & drinks. Our group ordered several apps/entrees and everyone was delighted with all their choices. Standouts included the Short Rib Taco and their 60/40 burger which is ground rib eye(60%) and ground bacon(40%). Super flavorful with just the right amount of smokiness from the chipotle aioli. Our group also sampled most of the cocktails that are new to the menu and we found them to be really well done. Service was also super friendly but not overbearing. We will definitely be coming back to R&B...sooner than later. read more

Had a very frustrating and disappointing experience last night at Reef and Barrel. My two male friends and I decided to check out the bar and when we arrived we were greeted by not just one, but four security guards at the front door. When entering the restaurant you can either walk up one step to the door or up a longer ramp. One of the security guards stopped us and asked that we walk around and up the ramp to the door instead for no reason at all - there was no line or anything. We get up the ramp and my two male friends got in no problem. When it was my turn, one security guard took my ID, tried bending it again and again and then asked for a second form. I am 24 years old with a valid ID, but whatever...I gave him my credit card and he then asked for a third form of ID that had my picture on it....Luckily I had my old collage ID on me, but if I didn't would he not have let me in? What did he expect me to just have my passport on me or something? Completely ridiculous! Anyways, I gave him my college ID and he then called his buddies over to take a look and give their opinion, one of the security guards said, "It's obviously a fake!" And then they started joking around, asking me to smile to see if I have the same amount of teeth as I do in my picture...this whole process took about 5 minutes. Finally, one of them just said it's fine and allowed me in. I have never encountered behavior like this before and it really ruined my evening. I will most definitely not be back. read more

I wanted to like this place. I really did. My food was terrible. I'm so upset I spent so much money on slop. I don't like my food burnt or over cooked. I am very specific about this. I ordered French onion soup and asked if they could please please be careful not to burn the cheese on top. It come back sizzled burnt brown cheese, so burnt it was almost an insult after asking PLEASE. I am very polite and a generous tipper. I have waitressed and bartended for a long time. I'm not picky. I just HATE burnt food. I ordered a fish sandwich. The brioche bun was burnt on top. The chips it came with completely burnt. The flavor of everything was just blah. The bartender who served it to me said something about how they needed to cook it like that so blah blah blah....she knew my food came out all wrong. I still stopped her 25% or more and paid my bill. What a waste of money. There was four other costumers there and no one else was eating. ZERO excuse for why my food was so bad and so over cooked. I will never go back. I have never dealt with a ruder service. The people there are very nasty and mean. I am a doordash driver and they had a problem with door dash and were so mean and nasty to me for no reason. I have been a customer there forever and will no longer go there again. I had an issue with the manager and they called me with a very malicious attitude screaming at me telling me that I was in the wrong and telling me I was the one who was mean when that was not the case at all. I will never ever go there again. Their "manager" was ignorant and repeatedly screamed as I tried to explain what the issue was. This restaurant will suffer due to the lack of customer service. I will never return and hope no one else does. If there was a rate below zero I would give a negative 349379 because of how bad my experience was. I hope they learned a lesson on how to treat people because clearly, they have no idea how to have a civil conversation. They also screamed at my girlfriend who was trying to help the situation for no good reason. I am sincerely disappointed and will not be back. read more

I have to say that they serve one of the best burgers we have ever had. I had the classic burger and my husband had the 60/40 which is 60% beef and 40% bacon mixed together. This 60/40 is truly that darn good! My daughter had the chicken fingers and they were good nothing more nothing less they were good. The french fries with the garlic and cheese were very good and the onion rings they were fair. We ordered the short rib tacos and to be honest we weren't fans of this dish or the chicken lettuce wraps but that's ok because again one of the best burgers were found here. We also had an order of the spicy barbecued wings and they were delicious! Oh and let's not forget the fantastic fried goat cheese balls..... yessss so good, my daughter would have been happy with just another order of that and nothing else. I would pretty much say this is a perfect spot for a GREAT burger, delicious wings and yummy fries. The atmosphere is laid-back and casual. The staff was very attentive, very sociable and professional. I would definitely recommend stopping and checking out the spot and ordering that 60/40... You will not be sorry, I promise! read more

I went on a Thursday for 2 for 1 burger night and was excited to try it. First we sat at the bar because there was a bit of a wait. The bartender came over to us right away. The bar was really nice, too. I was disappointed that my beer wasn't filled all the way, though, as the bartender didn't wait for the foam to dissipate. Regardless the bar was a nice atmosphere with a new and happy vibe. Both me and my friend ordered the 60/40 build your own burgers. My friend ordered his burger medium and it came out well done, and I realized when I got mine that I was never asked how I wanted mine cooked (it was medium). It was so stupid that we had a pay a DOLLAR extra for lettuce, tomato and onion. That should come standard with a burger (is it weird this actually offended me?) It would be nice if they could spring for a pickle too. The onion was fried and displayed on top of the burger with a toothpick and was limp and cold which seemed to be the theme of this meal as you'll see. The fries were seriously the biggest disappointment! They were completely limp and cold- AWFUL. You see "hand cut" on a menu and you think fresh, flavorful, and crispy but these were the exact opposite. In fact everything was cold on the plate. The bun should have been hot and toasted and it was also limp and cold just like the fries. The burger was luke-warm at best. The flavor of the burger was just okay, nothing special at all. Both me and my friend had to salt everything (burger and fries) and neither of us ever do. The waitress was nice but this place just looked unorganized service-wise. Food was slow and all the servers were crammed in the corner of the restaurant in a line waiting to use the POS all night. I will not be recommending this place to anyone, a definite disappointment. What a place. Came here for dinner the day the nerds were there, we ordered fried calamari, the Joe's famous beefsteak and the short rib special with the potatos ontop I forgot the name. Calamari was good. The Joe's famous beefsteak was so sad. They put the beef on 5 pieces of cut Italian bread, if you put it all togeather it would be a 2 inch sandwich, someone put a photo of it in a tin pan here its embarrassing. And the short rib was very salty. The worse part we had and the death of the night was with the waitress. After we pay on 2 cards she comes back and ask if there was a problem. We said no. She said because the bill was 220 dollars and we gave her a 25 dollar tip (I know low I messed up on the math) but the real bill was also 180 because she added the cover for the nerds and wanted to make extra off them also. She came back for 10 extra dollars. Then when it was time to collect it a second time she sent someone else over. The food isnt great drinks are ok, and the people who work there suck. read more

I waited over 30 minutes for a drink, and then was told that they were out of what I ordered. Couldn't you have figured that out 29 minutes ago? The food took forever to come out....I ordered the ¨allegedly¨ great burger, and mine was raw. Not rare. Raw. I really want to like this place because I'm local...but it was bad. Staff seems unapologetic or maybe apathetic. I dont like writing negative reviews but this place is under new ownership and they need to hear it. I ordered a salad that supposed to have walnuts and a bunch of other toppings as well as steak. It was drenched in dressing with almost nothing but mixed greens and a small piece of steak...it was sad...and after 15.00 later I felt robbed. The rest of our table had similar complaints...tiny portions of mediocre food. Tacos were anemic....nachos were also sad with velveeta cheese. The only thing decent was the dish they didn't change from the last restaurant...the burgers that a couple other people at my table had. About a month ago I went to this place kinda late in the evening for some takeout... I ordered the twin Fillets on English muffins and some fries. There was next to no one in the place so service was prompt but not very friendly. The food smelled delicious but when I got home it was a different story.... the meat was an odd almost grayish color and had a strange spongy texture. I ate one fillet and couldn't get the other one down. I ended up throwing it out. I was sick to my stomach about 4 hours later! I know everyone has an off night so I didn't let that sway my decision to go back when an artist I wanted to see was playing there. I called a few friends and we ended up eating somewhere else when 4 out of 6 of us had bad food experiences with this place. So we went to the show and it was a packed house. I had 3 Heineken bottles that were cold and delicious. I ordered a 4th and it tasted " skunked" I wasn't going to drink it and I waited about 20 minutes ( the place was packed, so I can kinda justify the wait) to catch the attention of the same bartender from the first night. She had the same not friendly I don't like my job attitude as my previous visit. I asked her if she wouldn't mind replacing the beer because it tasted terrible ... she replied back with a miserable attitude " well what do you want?" I was a little shocked that she was so short with a customer, I mean it was a beer! That was bad! It happens, no biggie n my book I just wanted a fresh one.... I had literally taken 2 sips, first sip was awful and I took a second to be sure...... I did not blame her, insult her or even take a less than pleasant tone with her and I felt like she acted like I was not a paying customer! She snatched the beer off the bar dumped it out angrily and said very nastily " THEY'RE ALL FROM THE SAME BATCH, THIS IS GONG TO BE THE SAME! " she then slammed a fresh beer in front of me causing it to foam and spill over never once looking at me or apologizing or even acknowledging me further. The crowd at the bar witnessed this, some had pretty bad things to say about the place and staff in general but that's their story to tell. I hate to leave a negative review but I rely on yelp when I'm looking to spend my hard earned cash on food and booze and hope this can prompt some change. read more

First time at this restaurant & we really liked it. The decor is beachy but not over the top. They weren't too busy except for the bar area. We ordered onion rings and cheeseburgers which came out perfect. Our fries were cold but they were replaced in about 30 seconds. Kudos to the bartender who made a delicious blackberry margarita with a sugar rim. Wait staff & hostess were all friendly and even the guys cleaning the tables wished us a Happy Easter. Giving this a one star is being generous! I paid $10 for a tiny grilled cheese sandwich that was cold when it came out. On top of that, they don't even give you fries with your sandwiches. You have to pay $2 extra for those!!! Otherwise, you just get chips. Also, I paid $2.50 for a cup of coffee that you could clearly tell was instant. Either that, or it was just old.
