Recently went to Mantoloking Road Alehouse for the first time. Outside was nice with tables & umbrellas on a nice day. It was a scorcher the day we visited, so inside we went. A relaxed atmosphere with dive bar vibes on the inside. Our server, Pat, was awesome...a chill guy with great recommendations. We ordered 2 entrees. The special of the day was filet mignon sliders, which were soooo good. We also ordered the open faced Reuben sandwich, I am so excited to say it was one of the best I've ever had. Both came with fries. We had Guinness (on tap) & a Pina Colada from their new frozen drink machine. Look forward to returning to this restaurant & definitely recommend giving them a try! read more

The place was way too loud server never came back to bring me water. I had to go to the bar and get it myself do not order the calamari. It was not good quality calamari very greasy over bread. It tasted disgusting. I ordered the French tip sandwich FYI, it comes on garlic bread. They should mention that in the description also, the bread was stale. read more

The Ale House is a good bar and grill. It is large and has seating both inside and outside. I have only been here twice but thought it was exactly what I expected, the food is a solid offering with a large variety and the items I have tried have been cooked properly and have good flavor. I have never witnessed a more disrespectful encounter with an owner towards customers and his employees & I have been in this business for 10 plus years. I feel so bad for the employees , if that's what he does in front of a full bar I can't imagine what goes on behind the scenes. He just lost multiple customers due to his poor actions I hope he thinks about that the next time he berates customers and employees due to an issue that could have been resolved with a simple conversation even after being yelled at the customer stayed calm, apologized , paid his bill and left. Then the owner continued to scream at his employees after the matter was already resolved. Every time I've been there his staff are nothing but kind . I will not be returning which is disappointing because I live locally and this is the closest bar to me , unfortunately I can not support an owner who shows such a lack of professionalism and hostility towards his staff and patrons. read more

I have been coming to MRA for years, and my boyfriend even longer than I have. We have always loved it, and have never had any issues whatsoever. Until tonight. On 3/22/24, my boyfriend and I went into MRA at about 925pm. The place was packed with college aged kids for March Madness. Was pretty awesome to see! I love a good sports vibe. I'm more of a hockey girl myself, but I love all sports. I digress. The sign by the hostess stand said to seat yourself, so we did just that. We tried to sit at the bar, but there were no 2 open stools together. In fact, I think the entire bar had 2 open seats TOTAL. We opted for a booth on the right side of the bar. We were spotted by both bartenders, and atleast one other employee. We sat and got comfortable. We were planning on ordering an appetizer and a couple drinks each. Now, I have been to the MRA in the past and have definitely ordered food after 9pm. I of course wouldn't have ordered if the kitchen closed at 930, having arrived at 925. I worked for years in the service industry, as a waitress and bartender. I know how frustrating that can be for BOH. I spotted the blonde bartender chatting with a group at a booth, sitting down with them at one point. When she made her way back behind the bar, both bartenders were looking at us periodically, with a busboy or waiter passing by us. We sat for 20 minutes without anyone saying a WORD. Not a nod, nothing. I finally asked my boyfriend to please go and ask the bartender if we needed to order up at the bar. He was met with, "The kitchen is closed" by the brunette bartender. He asked, "At 930 on a Friday?" and she responded curtly, "YEP! Sorry!" We collected our things and left at 9:45. I hope that you see our issue isn't with the kitchen having been closed. We moved to TR in June, and I think stopped in once since then. When we lived in Eagle Point, we were there much much more often. It's entirely understandable if your kitchens hours have changed since then. What we don't understand is how a party of 2 can come into a restaurant/pub, be looked at over and over again by multiple employees, and NOT ONE come up and acknowledge them. We would have gladly left for food elsewhere, or ordered a drink. No problem whatsoever. To be left there was extremely embarassing and I would call the customer service tonight an atrocity. It saddens me to say that, as I've shared many great memories there with friends. I hope this review atleast cuts down on the embarrassment of other patrons in the future. read more

We ordered a drink ( good selection of nice brand vodka) and a bar pie. We got half plain/half sausage pepperoni. Delicious! Crust and topping were exactly the way we prefer. Sat at a high top table, bar was full and upbeat. The waiter was efficient , friendly, accommodating , kept checking back in. Various Sports on tv. They also have an area away from the bar which is quieter to eat. We were there about 5:30 on a Friday in early May and it looks like a very busy, popular place. I have frequented MRA for a few years now. They just keeps getting better and better. I've tried many items on the menu, all absolutely delicious and the service is wonderful from the second you walk in the door. The burgers are great and I truly love the meatloaf. I follow them on Facebook. They update their specials and they have a lot of fun events to attend. They even had a bagpiper the day before St. Patrick's Day! I really wanted to like this place, but my experience wasn't great. Decided to have a later dinner on Sunday night, so we went around 7:30. When we first arrived, we were told the kitchen was closing at 8 and that they didn't have any of the entrees available- just appetizers, burgers, pizza. My boyfriend wasn't a fan of his drink and I also had trouble making a selection, so it would have been nice to have a drink menu of some kind. Food and appetizers came out at the same time because they said the kitchen was cold and the food would get cold if it was back there too long. We also couldn't really hear each other talking because the tvs were super loud. The food was excellent I will say- but overall we probably wouldn't be back. What a waste of money. We went to White Castle for dinner after. The calamari came out and was soggy sent back I did t even try, the margarita pie had sliced tomatoes on it, there was no flavor at all. I forced down a slice my wife had half a slice and that went back. The pulled pork nachos would have been good if all our food wasn't sitting waiting for god knows how long before they brought it out to the table. I'll be honest- as a woman I'd like to see some eye candy at the bar but apparently the owners think only men sit at bars so all the bartenders are girls with tight jeans and puffed up lips. They're nice enough except I've had my drink refilled without being asked and I've been ignored while they flirt with guys for tips. That said, it's the only spot in the general vicinity. But seriously, even my guy told me he thinks the girls are a bit much and service could be better bc once they find their bunch of dudes to flirt with, getting them to turn around requires a crane. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Honestly solely because of the way I was treated walking in here. It was my first time and I come from NY I asked for a drink at the bar and the process for out of state IDs is to scan them. Unfortunately the machine they have didn't work and they couldn't scan my ID so because of that they wouldn't serve me. The bartender was nice enough to try and ask the owner about what to do but that's where it went south. The absolute nastiest man I have ever met. He talked down to me and threw my ID back at me across the bar and said "I'm not serving you" and walked away. Now I did go over to him and tell him I thought he was very rude in the way he handled the situation it was my first time there and I respect the process/that the ID needed to be scanned but he didn't need to treat me like that and put his hand up to my face when I walked over to then say again "don't bother I'm not going to serve you". I don't care about the drink it's not a big deal but he was just so disrespectful I will never go back. Hope this serves as a warning to some people. My wife and I are on a mission to find the best local places to eat. This is by far the worst. I want to make this and every review straight to the point. Food was a 2 out of 5. Ordered the Mac and cheese bites, Grilled Chix Czr wrap and Rodeo Burger. The cheese for the Mac n cheese bites were crusty. The lettuce in the wrap was hard as a rock. They were advertising certain beers for a 1$. I ordered one and found out it was way past the date and skunked. The server who brought it to me announced "Ice cold and fresh" as if I wouldn't taste or read the date on it. On top of that there were bugs that was biting our ankles. Wow where do I begin. To go out and have a bite to eat during this pandemic is truly a reward so to go here tonight and experience this is such a disappointment. The food was Horrible! My daughters pizza was SOOO cheesy that I was afraid she was going to choke on it (she's 6) and you can tell the dough, cheese just everything was cheap products. The shrimp parm I had tasted like frozen shrimp just fried and doused in sauce and cheese. My husband had the steak sandwich on garlic bread but guess what? Not on garlic bread! Regular stale bread. The owner or manager whoever he was was so drunk and yelling in the restaurant. Just horrible! However our waitress was a sweetheart, no complaints about her. We took the food home because we're not those type of people to make the waitress feel embarrassed or bad but as soon as we got home I took photos and threw it in the garbage. $105.00 for this??? Decided to try a local "dive" place tonight and this one came highly recommended. Atmosphere is very laid back and fun. Theres music and a lot of things going on. Our server Ethan tonight was super friendly and attentive. We started with the pub pretzels which were super fresh and delicious. Then we got a pizza and Buffalo chicken wrap. Both were really good and fresh. Was also pleasantly surprised how kid friendly they are as well. They offer booster seats, kids menu and non spill kids cups which is a huge win. The menu has lots of different options so I'm sure we'll be back to try some more stuff out. read more
