This was surprisingly a pretty good movie theater. We wanted to see The End of Oak Street and after checking about 17 theaters this is the only one with decent seats lol. It was still pretty full, but we were able to sit somewhere and be comfortable while we watched our movie. The snack line was long as hell, but they had every single register open and the cashiers were so nice helping us get our food. The prices were a little cheaper than most movie theaters I've gone to. We ended up getting an icee, large popcorn, nachos, and some red vines for under $40. I was also able to get my popcorn seasoning as they had those right at the register! The seats were recliners, they were very comfortable and they didn't make that weird noise when you lean back lol. I definitely enjoyed my time here at this movie theater and can't wait to be back! read more

What I'd expect from a theater. Got a ticket for the Spiderman movie in IMAX theater and arrived a few minutes before the start time. No time for concessions and I enjoyed the recliner seats. They really laid back! The big screen and the sound were both great to watch this action packed movie. Went to the Odyssey Seat C-10... I'd avoid it for Row A-D. The perspective for any row before Row D is really off and comically skewed. The IMAX format doesn't fit well in this room as seating is too low, it's too small and the screen is too big. It compromises the huge screen poorly compared to a proper Imax with more distance, and rake of the screen for optimal viewing and listening angles. I asked for another seat but it was sold out so I just bailed before it even started so I can watch on a screen where people's faces and legs don't look 2X as long and skewed with odd perspective. Should have asked for a refund. If you do go here for IMAX try for seats in row F. Seating was very nice, it was clean, and people were friendly, but that IMAX format simply doesn't work in this smaller room format. read more

We rarely go to the movies anymore because there are so many great films available to stream from home. However, while my brother-in-law was visiting, we decided to take him to see Supergirl at Regal Gateway. It wasn't our first choice, but there weren't many other options playing at the time. To be honest, the movie pleasantly surprised us. It was very well done and went beyond the typical sci-fi storyline. The film explored themes of revenge, friendship, protection, and compassion. One unique aspect was that Supergirl didn't actually put on her iconic costume until the very end of the movie, which was an interesting departure from the usual superhero formula. By the time the credits rolled, our family left the theater happy with the outcome. One thing that really stood out was the ticket-buying experience...it was completely people-free. Instead of purchasing tickets from a cashier, we used kiosks located in the theater lobby. You simply select your movie, pay with a credit card, and receive your ticket. In fact, you can even order concessions through the kiosk. Times are certainly changing! Gone are the days of standing in line at the box office to buy tickets. Today, you can purchase them online or at a kiosk when you arrive. I have to admit, though, that I miss the personal interaction. There's something nice about speaking with a real person and not having to navigate the technology yourself just to buy a movie ticket. read more

I rarely go to the movies these days because "the way my bank account is set up..." (in my Kevin Hart voice)! So when I got invited to a screening last Tuesday for a movie I'd been wanting to see, I jumped at the chance. I was surprised and genuinely impressed by the recent renovations at Regal Gateway. The new reclining seats are super comfortable and fully recline. Each seat also has a rotating lap table with a cup holder, which made it easy to snack without balancing everything in my lap. I also appreciated being able to get in and out of my seat without shimmying past a fixed table. The updated layout gives every seat a great view of the screen too. If you're a Regal Crown Club member, Tuesdays have additional perks. Members get 50% off popcorn, and yes, I absolutely took advantage of that and grabbed a large popcorn. Don't forget the free refills. The only thing missing for me is clarified butter for the popcorn. That would absolutely elevate the experience. There's plenty of parking, the restrooms were clean, and they have a really good adult beverage selection. The staff has consistently been helpful about sharing specials, discounts, and upgrades I can use with my Regal Crown Club credits. Overall, this was a really enjoyable experience, and I'm looking forward to returning. read more

Saw the Odyssey here in IMAX recently and had a great experience. Our theatre had nice recliner chairs that were all clean and in good condition. The bathrooms were clean as well which I appreciate since that's not always the case at some movie theaters. Overall, no complaints! read more

It had been quite a while since I had been to this Regal Cinema and it's gotten an upgrade! I'll always knock a point for the high prices at the concession, but I'm not so nieve that I don't know that it's how they make their profit, so it is what it is. But they had sold good wine and beers for $11 each. Not horrible I guess. The reclining seats were so comfortable, but if you were on a date, you could still be close enough to get cozy :) read more

The Regal Gateway is an antiquated movie theater that severely needs a Kris Jenner facelift. The carpet patterns scream the 90s, there's no self-serve butter, the hotdogs weren't ready when we arrived (6:00 PM), and the electronic screens displaying the menus change too quickly. Overall, a hot mess, there's just no pizazz here. I'm not going to even dive into the pricing of concession items, because.. I don't need to state the obvious. I won four tickets to the prescreening of Lilo and Stitch (shoutout to the best CM, Tomas), and the process to check-in was easy. Just as the email from Yelp stated, "your seats are guaranteed for the event until 6:30 PM.. arrivals after 6:30 PM will be directed to the general admission line where seating is available on a first come, first serve basis". Y'all, they were not kidding!! The general admission line was insane! I spoke to one group and they stated they were waiting from 4:30 PM! If you ever get the opportunity for the next movie pre-screen experience, PRO-TIP: Arrive on the dot for those tickets! Though we weren't immediately allowed in once we checked in, we were able to snag the seats we wanted since we were near the top of the line. Note: For those who came late, copped a band, and hopped in the line as we were moving, SHAME ON YOU!!! We've made some upgrades here. The outside, the inside, the chairs, etc. Regal has put in the money to give their Gateway location an update. All the theaters have the reclining seats and they don't make a ton of noise when you push the buttons. There's a layer of clean over this place now. A ton of stuff is now so shiny, so chrome. Take a look if you haven't been here in a minute. It's definitely worth the two new stars to my updated review. Staff is nice and helpful and they move fast. I don't have to worry about missing anything from my film. The seats are cozy now! I can lay back and be snug in my spot while I watch. I'm happy they have evolved into this extra comfy space. I hadn't been to Regal Gateway in about five years, and it might actually be my favorite theater in Austin now. The seats are incredibly comfortable and recline farther than any others I've used at a theater. They go almost dangerously far back. If you're tired, you might actually fall asleep. The whole place feels clean, updated, and well maintained. If you wrote this theater off a while ago, it's worth giving it another shot. If you've never been, it's definitely worth checking out. I used to frequent this theater often years ago until other theaters upgraded their seating to stadium style seating. Sadly, Regal Gateway did not keep up and stayed with the old style of seating. During this visit, their front lobby area had no AC and most of their theaters were cordoned off with caution tape. I can only hope they're upgrading to stadium seats! I had the opportunity to take my wife for the opening of Lilo and Stich at the Regal Gateway. The employees were very helpful herding all the people that were there to see the movie premiere everything was nice and orderly, the movie snacks were plentiful along with a comfortable setting. The movie was great, my wife is the Disney know it all, I was along for the show. Overall, we now have a theater that hadn't been to in the past, we'll be sure to keep them in mind for this summer. read more

I went to watch a movie last month (Send Help) and had a great time. Movies are like $8 on Tuesdays and half off popcorn too. We go to this spot pretty often for movies since we live right by it but it could definitely use a revamp. We did see some of their theaters undergoing construction so hopefully they're upgrading some of the seating - most theaters these days tend to already have reclining seats but not this one. The bathrooms are adequate and could also use an update. I do appreciate that this theater tends to not be overcrowded so it feels like somewhat of a hidden gem. We haven't partaken, but they also have IMAX/4DX options. Their staff is generally friendly and the popcorn is decent. read more

This movie theatre desperately needs a remodel. I entered the viewing room and was instantly hit with a musky moldy smell. It's really super strong. The seats don't decline so are your typical sit up straight type. Don't come for a 2+ hour movie. The ticket prices are probably the cheapest around so I guess that's what you are paying for. I really think if you are just going to the movies every so often you are better off paying more somewhere else for a better quality and comfort. read more

Interestingly, each chair had 4 cup holders - a lower set of 2 and a higher set of 2. I came for an advanced screening of Joy Ride. (This is not a review of Joy Ride). I felt that the theater outside where you get food is nice and large but inside the room is small and I barely had room to stretch my legs. It's also really dirty. The audio of the movie was good and I like the hand dryers in the restrooms. This theater can be cleaner overall. read more

DONT GO HERE!!! You would think a movie theater would close down for construction, but no, obviously that's not common knowledge. I went to go see a movie at this location and I've never been here before. It's definitely the last time I'm going to this company. They had so much construction they had to turn up the movie so loud I almost walked out in the middle of the movie bc my ears were almost hurting. I could still hear the construction so it doesn't even matter how loud they put it. The construction was in the room next to ours so ridiculous. I couldn't even enjoy the movie. A person in front of me literally put on headphones because it was so loud. I asked the manager on duty for a refund and he said no because I saw the whole thing. We watched Avatar in 4DX and WOW what an adventure. I don't think there is any other way to see the new Avatar movie except in 4D. From the vibrating seats, to the wind, the fog, and the water droplets, we felt like we were in the movie! Bring a jacket, you will get cold. The 4DX gets a 5 star. I can't rate the rest of the theater since I've never seen a movie at this theater. I'm not sure about the regular theater seating, etc. We also didn't have any popcorn, snacks, or drinks. The seats are threadworn, small and tightly placed. The sound was put of control and a couple of the speakers were bad! This place needs an update if they want to charge standard prices. This is your classic multiplex theater. Nothing fancy. I've been going to this place since the 2000s and it's still mostly the same. Sodas will cost about $7 and add popcorn or candy and you will be shelling out a couple of Andrew Jacksons. Seats are the same basic chairs but they work unless your planning on watching a 3 hour movie. They also have a 4-d imax. It's not the biggest imax just the normal one you'd find in any suburban multiplex in America. It looks like now have a subscription plan as well. read more
