Regal Cinemas has made the AD devices for the Visually Impaired and blind completely NOT usable for them! We're furious. In the past they had a set of headphones that have tactile buttons that blind person can use to connect and adjust settings, they were great, easy and no fuss. Now it's an all in one device that's huge arm that comes out of cup holder with a touchscreen to choose between CC, subtitles and audio descriptions. The screen can't be seen by the visually impaired at all; and when setup by a sighted person (embarrassing, considering they were independent in the past) there is no way for sighted poeple or not to know if the audio is working till the movie starts; so when our device was not working we missed the entire beginning of the movie while they "reset the receiver"! We're angry on so many levels; they refunded our money, but clearly said these where the devices from here on out and that they were not allowed to continue to use the old one. This is corporate wide- so No Regal has Audio Description devices for people who actually have vision issues. read more

I went here to see the 25th anniversary of Titanic in 3D. I wasn't too impressed with the 3D aspect, but I guess the use of glasses is pretty old school at this point. Unfortunately the person that scanned my ticket at the door neglected to give me the glasses, but thankfully I remembered before the movie started that I was missing them. The theater itself and the experience was nothing special. They have the overpriced concessions that you've come to expect. But for $6.29 for a hot dog, I'd suggest going to an Alamo and paying a few dollars more for an actual meal. read more

I came here for a Sneak Preview of Wakonda Forever. Marvell continues to astound us by remembering that a good story is needed before any special effects. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll keep it brief and generic: a good job was done addressing the death of the prior king and the plot that follows was great for someone who hasn't read the comics. The theatre venue was nice and actually pretty cool for trying to look like the Alamo. I love the smell of popcorn in a theatre. Seats seem a little dated, but I was comfy. 4 stars. read more

Today I came to watch an early screening of Spies in Disguise courtesy of Yelp! It sure is neat to be Elite! The movie is family friendly and is about a top rated spy who gets inadvertently turned into a pigeon. It's filled with action and funny moments. This is a must see film if you have kiddos or even if you don't. 5 stars! This 2 star rating is for the movie theater and not for the movie. The chairs here are uncomfortable and dirty. Additionally, the movie theater itself is musty. During the movie, my allergies were triggered as the dust mites and allergens in the theater were quite strong. Last, the theater chairs are small and squeak with the smallest of movements. I'm not sure I would revisit this theater if given the opportunity. read more

Me and my boyfriend got tickets to see the sound of freedom movie. We come to this theater only to realize I purchased the tickets at the wrong location, the lady checking tickets kindly told us to go to the desk they will just switch them for this location. The manager walks up to us asks what we want obviously we were not important to her and her attitude proved it. I didn't grab my receipt immediately from her because I was putting my card away and she slammed it on the counter and scoffed and walked away! As we were watching the movie the side lights were on the whole time! Horrible experience here. Never again. read more

My go to decent theater when I can't get showtimes needed at my Alamo Drafthouse. Nothing exceeds but nothing meh either. The employees there have always been good to me. The concessions lines can get LONG during peak showtimes so be warned if you're trying to make your way to a show with a drink and food. Note that Regal now serves ALCOHOL! Yay! But they're very particular and strict and require you to only get 1 drink at a time and there seems to only be ONE person that can service you when doing so. Moviepass got me to keep going and Regal points help keep you rewarded with returning visits. Hopefully, someday, they'll upgrade their seats to the reclining kind! It would make this Regal then 5 stars! read more

I attended a pre-screening of Wakanda Forever last night. The move was great however my neck is sore. Hopefully, the movie outings start to get back and they have the ability to update the seats. I'm on the short side so my head was in an awkward position sitting up in the chair since the headrest sits above my head. The place was clean, lobby was clean and the staff behind the counter was friendly. Would I ever come back with the current seats? Probably not. read more

This theater, which is in my old neighborhood and is a little drive from my new location in North Austin. But I really wanted to treat myself to this 4D 3D, and what better movie, then the Jurassic movie! My word. What an amazing experience. I don't want to give away the movie, but let's say, if you're riding in a car on a bumpy road, your seat will bounce to fit the scene in the movie. If it's windy, fans blow at your face. And if there is mud kicking up, you feel air blow on your ankles. Hope I didn't ruin the movie for you. Let's just say, it's very interactive, and a super experience. A little negative point. There were a few water scenes and I think there was some missed points. The water feature wasn't working. Should have been misted by water a few times, but it didn't happen. I think there could have been a missed moment or two when there was a wooded area. Could have had the smell of trees or something. But other than those two things. Great experience. Tickets are more than a standard movie, but the effects are cool. I wouldn't do it for every movie, but once in a while would be a nice treat. I would love to do this again. I am a member of regal unlimited, and I have been a customer for more than 15 years of this movie theater. Unfortunately, the customer service at this location is becoming the worst. The manager Jeffrey Joyce is a bit of a schmuck. I have one of the regulator cups that allows you to buy a drink for a dollar, and I usually use it to get my drink, but this schmuck is refusing. He makes me waste my time with his petulance. Generally, as regulars that come to the movie theater, we try to avoid him because he's always dirty and has a bad appearance, dir in his nails, and it stinks, mainly because he stinks! I'd rather lose my money on the membership that I already paid for unlimited than come back to waste my time with this schmuck. read more

This movie theater sucks so bad. The employees seem to have no idea about any of the products they are selling or what they have in stock. Also, the food is lack-luster and over-priced. I spent $30 on a hot dog, nachos, and a beer that was not even cold. Also, they had to get three employees and a manager up front just to ring up a single beer, because they didn't know how. Here's a little snip of our convo: My boyfriend and I were going to see Topgun having a fun date day and ending it with a movie. Went to a movie last night at Regal Gateway, and the experience was horrid. It wasn't the movie itself, or the facilities, or the staff. It was the 15-20 ministers of commercials after the published starting time, before the 10-15 minutes of previews, meaning that the movie started half an hour late. The previews are traditional, but if there are going to be outside commercials, they should run before the starting time. Ironically, there was a piece touting how much better the theater experience was to watching at home. Sorry, but feeding us a diet of commercials reduces the theater experience to television. read more

Been to the theater many times and it's cool. The thing I really dig is the concessions, so many of the other theaters have the same things but Regal has a bit of a twist; instead of the dry, almost stale nacho chips you can switch it up and get Doritos or another type. The wait is not ridiculous like it is at Tinseltown. The seats aren't as comfy as some of the other theaters I've been to but that may be a plus..def decreases the chance of falling asleep. read more

This theater is in massive need of an upgrade. We went to see Oppenheimer in the IMAX theater and it's the first time in over 15 years I sat in a theater that didn't have stadium seating. The rows were cramped and there was no way to extend my legs. People were literally falling over each other making bathroom trips and runs to the concession stand during the movie and I felt like I was flying in coach. Great sound and great picture quality but it's hard to enjoy a movie when your knees are aching and your feet are repeatedly stepped on. read more

I have been going to Regal Gateway for many years and have been troubled by how expensive they have become. I know, movies have become expensive but with Regal it almost seems disrespectful. My 70 year old brother and I (66) went to a matinee showing of Deadpool and Wolverine a month after it's opening. Tickets for standard feature came out to over $32, my brother bought small popcorn,I had Nachos and we both had large sodas for $38. So for 2 seniors to go to a standard screen showing cost us $70. Last week, I went to Lake Creek 7 Southwest theatre on North 183 to see Aliens Romulus alone, had a large drink and Milk Duds and it cost me $15 and they have the comfortable plush recliners. Regal said 4 years ago that they were going to change out their seating to the plush recliners, but they have not. Southwest Theatres gets my business from now on Regal is no longer going to rape my wallet. read more

The 3 stars is only for the theatre. I would give the movie a 4 and the yelp experience a 5. But since I am to review the theatre I have to give a 3 due to some confusion once I got there. I was given 2 tickets for a special viewing of The Call of the Wild last night by Yelp Elite Squad. There was a huge long line starting at 5:35 for a 7pm movie and people in line said we are all to wait out here. I've never done that for a Yelp Elite screening. So I went in to ask if that line was for yelp elite because in my email it says 'don't wait in line'. The people working at the theatre including some managers weren't that helpful. They had no idea and told me that yes everyone wait out there so I ran back out to hop in line because the people in line said they may close us off due to the sheer numbers. I lost my spot of course. Out in the cold I go until around 6:15 when the film reps came around saying they need to pick up all the phones and if there's any Yelp elites out here they need to go back inside! Ahh so I ran back inside and of course another shorter line but many were confused there too. Plus the person checking me off said he was just informed that they have to take up phones too. It was all a bit disorganized. I know I am not with the press but I wanted to snap the theatre for reviews but they were pretty adamant about the no phones policy and even wanded us going in and threatened to kick anyone out who snuck a phone in. At this point I am wondering what kind of movie is this? Call of the Wild must be extra good lol I've never had to give up my phones for other yelp elite screenings. All in all I truly enjoyed the movie. I like the location of this theatre. Seats are comfortable but I didn't love the reception of the workers nor the disorganization and confusion about the whole thing. It makes for more chaos and less of a satisfaction with the entire venture. We were packed in like sardines. Movie didn't start until way past 7 and they were confused again as to how many seats to block off for press causing more delay and chaos lol that part all was a mess. But I loved the movie and grateful to Yelp Elite for allowing me to go watch it for free. Just hopefully Regal here can get better communication and make the process smoother for all. I went to see Top Gun - Maverick in 4DX paid the 21 bux expecting to experience TOTAL 4DX as advertised. Well, First of all.. The movie started and the interior lights where left on for almost 20 minutes. 4DX Is supposed to have the capabilities of water, Snow, smells, air, strobe lights, fog and of course movement of the seats. All that worked was the movement of the seats, strobes and air blasts.. I feel I was ripped off because the regal Gateway didn't live up to their advertised movie experience. The seat movement and air blasts where cool but I was expecting more for the cost of my ticket. Unless they fix their 4DX I don't believe I will be going back or spending my money on something that just don't completely work right read more

As I recently celebrated my birthday and my family has a birthday tradition of going to the theater together to celebrate before a birthday dinner, this was the only location with enough availability to seat 5 people together on The Lion King's second day post-release. I now understand why. This theater is quite large but remains mostly empty for multiple reasons. First of all, the price is absolutely exorbitant for the sub-par seating available. The chairs are not comfortable, do not recline in any way, shape, or form, and squeak most obnoxiously as you adjust to get comfy... can somebody please remember to bring some WD-40 next time? Thanks in advance. Second, the cleanliness of the theater is questionable. Sticky floors and scattered popcorn were a huge theater trend in my childhood, but the 90s have left us and our movie going expectations have risen with the years. Kind of like a crazy college party back in the day, don't wear flip flops or any other kind of open-toe footwear and bring some sanitizer. My third and final point is the cost. This theater is *slightly* less expensive than better theaters in and around the Austin area. Personally, I would rather pay a little more for the comfort and cleanliness of a higher-priced location. Cost doesn't always equate quality, but in this instance it certainly does. All in all, we were able to watch the film on the big screen and it was a good film, but in the future I would rather fork over a few extra dollars and enjoy the theater-going experience as well. I went here for the first time after my son raved about it. He's seen three movies: Creed III, John Wick and tonight we saw Super Mario Brothers. Now I know what you are thinking... why Super Mario Brothers. Honestly my son (19 yrs old) was so excited to take me here that we found a movie to go see, just so he could take me to this theater. To give you some perspective, I like elevated cinema experiences. So we go to AMC Dolby as a baseline and Alamo Drafthouse on Slaughter is my absolute fav. This, however, was not my cup of tea. Tons of parking and when you enter it's a typical menu. It's got some old school soda fountains with six basic flavors (Pepsi not Coke) and popcorn. Some interesting items like dipping dots, Nathan's hotdogs and Doritos nachos. I got some Butterfinger minis in a box and they tasted stale but the popcorn was fresh. However don't get too excited yet. If you know about this theater, the seats move to the action in the movie. So if a boat is on the water...the seats moves like waves or if it's raining, water drips from the ceiling, if a punch flies your seat jerks and a gust of wind sprays you in your ear and your face and if a car tumbles across a highway the seats will damn near throw you and your popcorn across your neighbors. While it sounds cool, think about these slow and sporadic radical movements for TWO HOURS. If you get sea sick this is not for you. Any motion sickness issues, don't do it. Now I do not have motion sickness and come the last fifteen minutes I was tempted to go sit on the side stairs. You can barely eat and definitely be careful trying to take a drink for fear of launching it. The kids around me seemed to love it and my son does too but I won't be back. My boogie ass will take a glass of wine and dessert an hour into the film while I recline and tap my card to pay. If you love a two-hour theme park ride... this place is for you. read more

I've never been to this location and the Yelp Elite preview of Stuber was the first time. The outside of the building appears to be new, and then you walk inside and it's open and has a long row of concessions where you can order food. Then when I walked into the theater I could smell mold. The entire movie I had to smell that, and I'm sure other people could smell that funky smell. I had a really bad headache after the movie. I live north so I most likely will not be coming back to this theater. The movie Stuber was funny and my favorite part is the male stripper talk. Thanks yelp for the opportunity! read more

The theater is dated for sure and it took about 25 minutes to get anything at the concessions. The IMAX was great though.

My first and last visit. Went to see a movie in iMax 3D with my 2 grandsons. The sound was so loud it actually hurt our ears. A couple of other people went to find a manager to ask the volume be lowered, and I gess they found someone becasue about 15 minutes later, it was lowered a little. The screen wasn't much larger than the screen at a regular theater, so definitely not woth the extra price they charge for iMax. Then the movie looked cloudy until about half way through when I discovered the 3D glasses were were scratched and you had to raise them and look through the bottom 1/4 of the lense to see a clear picture. One of the grand kids complained of the same thing when we were leaving. This is a little drive from where I live and we only went here because the nearby theaters were sold out. I'll make sure I don't make this mistake again. read more

I have to be fair and call this a three-star for nothing really bad happened, but I'm not sure it was as good as it should have been. First things first: we went to the movies Friday night for the first time in more than six months - we were apprehensive and excited all at once. [Side note: We went to see Unhinged; for the love of God save your money. Has to get a Golden Raspberry for one of the worst films of 2020.] Regal, like just about everyone else now, let's you pre-select seats so that was easy. There seat map also shows blocked seats (for social distancing) so that's nice too. You have some idea who's going to be around you. Entry was easy - show your online ticket to the ticket taker at the door. I will say his phone had trouble reading our screen (on a big phone no less) so I had to get within two feet of him - not cool. We bypassed the non-existent line at the concession stand where the four attendants were milling around and talking much much closer than 6 feet apart from each other. Not. Cool. The movie theatre itself seemed fine although I noticed the seats were somewhat dingy. Obviously they cleaned the hard surfaces (I hope with a sanitizer) but if you're going to close for several months why not get the seats (cloth fabric covered) cleaned too with all the money you saved on the wages you didn't pay. Doesn't add up. Again; nothing bad per se, but taking our temperatures before we came in (as Alamo does) or ensuring a way to check in with a remote screen or monitor rather than standing very close to a complete stranger might have made it more comfortable. So, can't say it was a bad experience (I'm rating the theatre, not the movie) but it could have been better. read more

I absolutely HATE giving bad reviews as I'm in the industry that's review driven... BUT we came to see Thor in 4DX and Screen 1 had NO A/C!!!!!! Incredibly HOT. We come from an older house that has no central AC, so we rely on window units, and using the movies (which is normally cold in nature/reputation) as getaway from the Texas heat (it's 105 today not including the heat index) was hotter than our house! It was so hot, my husband started to get sick and we head to leave early and not be able to enjoy the $50 plus popcorn/drink etc we happily PAID for... Worse experience ever and I can't ask my husband to come back again or we risk him getting sick again... We should get a refund or a rain check or SOMETHING! Call this theatre BEFORE buying tickets so you don't risk going thru this as well! read more
