Went here for brake inspection/quote for comparison as a recommendation. Made an appointment online easily, but they don't tell you that it's one of those drop your car off by 9:30 AM and pick it up before they close at 4:30 pm (very limited hours for closing). This place printed out a quote for me and unfortunately it was actually about the same amount as the dealership, which are notorious for exorbitant prices. I asked them for a breakdown of the price and the man who performed the service insisted that the amount of labor hours (1.75) was already on there. Nope. Very steep price for the labor, which oddly is almost exactly the SAME as the raw parts. I probed them about the cost being higher than the range I was expecting and the only response I got was that they do not use the "cheapest" parts so theirs will last longer. Again there's no way for me to dis/prove this so pick for yourself? Alright... well I don't know this place or their quality that well. I ended up getting a 3rd quote at Tony's and it was $120 less and he gave me the price over the phone. Also more flexible hours for pick up before they close by 6 PM. Gas here is also fairly expensive. read more

Honestly, disappointed at their service. I went in for a simple car inspection, and they told me how I failed light and tire checks. They refused to tell my why, but told me how much it'd cost. I wasnt going to pay for any services when they dont even tell me what was wrong. So, I went to TWO different places, and they all told me how my car was 100% fine. Literally showed me all the numbers required to pass. Went back to this place, and asked them to point out why I failed and for a refund. He insisted that I fixed the car light before AND the tire was still not passable. Mind you he did that just by looking at my tires whereas other places proved with numbers. After that, he just went into his office. I'm going to submit a inspection complaint form. I'd avoid this place for inspection unless you like paying someone unneccesarily read more

I certainly did not experience the alleged great service and professionalism by other reviewers when I went. On my way in the morning at 8:30, I noticed my tire pressure light on, so I made a detour to fill up my tire that was causing this. I didn't have any change either, and the machine there only accepted coins. The young guy at the shop told me to see a woman inside the store. Upon arriving, I was welcomed by her rude demeanor, checking me out up and down. She kept rephrasing my sentences as if I were a toddler who couldn't speak properly. She , then, refused to help, not even offer to have me buy a snack with my card and give me the change. She just said with her eyes rolling, "go over to that side of the shop and see if they will help you at all." Wow. I went to the other side of the auto shop/garage and it wasn't packed. I finally got the older guy's attention, and he said to ask the woman at the shop. I told him she told me to go see him, and he was so surprised that she wouldn't help me. Then he said he was "so busy" that he can't help me either. You know, with their machines, it only takes less than a minute to fill up a tire. And the whole time, nobody even said sorry, but they really acted like I was a total annoyance. I had never encountered such rude and unhelpful people. Even a busy (or much busier than this one) auto shops have been more helpful. It really struck me that all 3 employees there refused to help with anything that did not give them any money/profit. In these times, I understand many businesses are hit hard, but some decency would be nice. I would never go here knowing that all they care about is money, and that they did not even bother try to help someone whose one tire needed air during the rush hour. I live w/in 1 mile of Regan's. The staff is friendly, professional, & responsive. Regan's can be very busy so app'ts can be tough to get.

Coming home, fighting traffic and construction at every intersection in every town, my car started to give me trouble. I had to pick kids up from school, keep dinner plans, etc. I got the car to Regan's at 3pm on a Thursday. They said they wouldn't be able to look at it that day (understandable) and they were booked the next day too. Since it was a long weekend, they wouldn't be able to get to it until Tuesday. I was upset, not at them, but at how complicated things can get so suddenly. They saw I was upset and said they'd try to get to it the next day, I told them not to worry, I knew they were booked solid. They gave me a quote on a new alternator and explained that it wasn't the cheapest brand, but it was the brand they preferred and had a good warranty. I agreed and walked home to call a ride to get the kids at school and to cancel my dinner plans. While in traffic (it was a horrible traffic day with the Harvard and high school graduations), I received a call saying my car would be ready at 430pm! They found the part locally so didn't have to wait for delivery. If i had waited at home instead of calling a ride, I wouldn't have had to cancel any plans. I couldn't get back to the shop until 9pm, but they were open & my car was waiting for me. Unbelievable how this played out... my car didn't die in traffic or some busy intersection, they were able to fix it SAME DAY. I have never had such speedy service, I was so grateful and appreciative. What nice people, and a great neighborhood shop! read more

If I could give these guys 10 stars I would! This family run business was recommended to me by a friend of my wife's and I gave them a try about 12 years ago. I live 4 miles away and had to drove past a few other garages to get there but the recommendation was so strong I had to try them out. She was right and I'm glad I did. Since then we have bought 5 used cars (I do close to 50k miles/year for my business!) there and had all of our service work on both of our cars done there. I would not go anywhere else, ever! Went to Regan's to renew my inspection sticker. I have a 2017 Forester. Was told by tech that one of the C-light or Daytime Running Light bulbs that wraps around front headlights was out. Tech said my car will NOT pass inspection; he said charge for a bulb & labor will be an extra $15. I told him I'll replace the bulb myself. Did some research on the web if C-lights or DRLs were really necessary to pass inspection. They're considered accent/decorative lights. The only lights around front headlights that are considered critical to pass inspection are turn signals, side markers, and low & high beams. Long story short, I didn't replace the dead bulb yet but I took my car to another inspection station in Newton that same day. Passed inspection! No mention about a dead DRL bulb. Next day, I picked up a pair of replacement bulbs for $7 at AutoZone, and swapped them out. Never going back here again to renew inspection sticker or even for a service repair. After reading some negative repair reviews, I can see why this station may play you for a sucker and try to up-sell unnecessary repairs. Maybe I'll still stop by for a fill-up if I'm desperate. Lesson learned - trust your gut, and save some $$. read more

I have been getting my car inspected here for years but had always used the dealer for repairs. They had graciously handled a small repair, which allowed me to pass the inspection this year so I decided to have my brakes repaired here. The cost was $200 less than what the Honda dealer estimated. They also noticed my license plate did not have a current sticker. (I forgot to put the sticker on when I renewed the registration.) I don't know why they noticed it but it probably kept me from getting pulled over later in the week when a Newton Police car pulled up behind me at the stop light. I appreciate the attention to detail. Finally, I have always been impressed by how nice everyone is who works there. This is a very well run business that I would highly recommend to friends. read more

Have been going to Regan's for many years and have always received great advice and service at a reasonable cost. This was starkly highlighted after an experience at Direct Tire where after installing 4 new tires, Direct Tire said the alignment couldn't be completed because the tie rods were frozen and would need to be replaced, estimated at $700. I went back to Regan's and asked for help. The mechanic at Regan's was able to free the tie rods by applying heat and completed the alignment. The cost of the alignment was $10 more than what Direct Tire would have charged, but I avoided a huge repair bill. Thanks again Regan's!! read more

Not very good diagnostic skills. Towed car here because would not start. Location was close and reviewed online reviews. After a couple hours of diagnostics (at $125/hr), they called and said they believe the timing chain stretched, yes the chain, not a timing belt, but the chain had stretched so timing was off and that is why would not start. A timing chain lasts well beyond the life of the car. Replacement of chain would be about $2,000 mainly labor. They recommended taking to dealer. Towed to my mechanic and he diagnosed within an hour to faulty solenoid. Regen's might be good for inspection stickers and oil changes, but if any kind of diagnostics work is required, go elsewhere. Seemed all the mechanics were gone by 3 PM as well. Not very much business if mechanics can leave by 3PM. read more

This is the ONLY place I take Trixie (and yes, my SUV is named Trixie, what of it?!?!) I get great service, a fair price, and it is always done right and on time. Seriously, how often can you say that about a car repair shop? The technicians always make sure Trixie is in top shape and they let me know when bigger repairs (like brakes) are on their way out. Its nice to know ahead of time, then I can save and plan for it! Oil changes are always quick and efficient and the price is competitive. I'm pretty sure they even have loaner cars if you need it. A good place for car service. Honesty from a car repair place goes a long way and is more important to me than finding the cheapest spot around. I've been here several times for minor repairs, oil changes, routine maintenance, and new tires (which were competitively priced). Prices aren't super cheap but the service is good and reliable and they've even let me know when work i had thought was needed was not. That honesty means that you should not come here for a car inspection if you think you may not pass for any reason. Gas prices are average. The Hess down the street is usually a few cents cheaper. read more

I have never been to this service station until today. It was a wet miserable day when my car drove over a pot hole on Grove St during lunch time where the city is paving. My TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) alert came on soon after I ran over the PH. I stopped and confirmed that the tire is deflating. I remembered there was a service station near by and decided to drive there. The tire was almost completely deflated by the time I got there. I went into the service office and Paul was there to greet me and knew that I had a flat tire. He told me the mechanics are out on lunch but should be back within 15 min. He told me my options: 1. remove the tire, inspect it, and see if it's repairable. 2) Pending on the finding, put on the spare, and see if a comparable tire can be ordered for the next day. 3) Put on the spare and I can deal with the replacement tire. I appreciate the honesty and I went off to lunch at Tom's Pizza. 30 min. later, I returned from lunch and I found my car was in the service bay and they had put on my spare. The original tire is punctured on the edge beyond repair. They spent about 15 min. looking for a comparable tire but would not be able to get one in until tomorrow. I decided to deal with the tire on my own since I do have a regular mechanic near my home. I have a 40 min. commute and didn't want to drive on the "donut" tire coming back tomorrow. During my wait, I observed that they are very courteous, from Paul, to the service mgr, and the mechanic that worked on my car. They look like they enjoy their work and also knowledgeable. They are very up front about the work that needs to be done, and on top of that, the place is very organized and clean. My confidence level is very high from dealing with them and would not hesitate to bring my car for service or to recommend it. read more

I had trouble with my car starting and needed it checked. I'm 8 mos. pregnant and didn't want to get stranded. It's Monday and there were no openings until Thursday. They said they couldn't estimate how long the wait time would be but they would get it done today. I came in anyway, instead of going to the dishonest place that I had an appointment with. They had the car ready in 1 hour. They have always provided professional, efficient, honest service for us. If you can't do it yourself, here is a good place that does good work. read more

Couldn't be more honest people.... I go to my dealer for warranty work only. My dealer tries pushing every maintenance job in the book on me (new brakes, tire rotation, etc). I have told Regans about the recommended service, and they have multiple times told me that I did not yet need that service, and that it wasn't worth the money at the current time. They could have made a decent buck off me multiple times and did not until it was absolutely necessary. If you want honesty, then go to Comm Ave in Auburndale. A lot of peace of mind. read more

I have been a customer of Regan's Service since 1993, and they have always been wonderful. I have had multiple cars serviced there over the years, always with satisfaction and a caring, positive attitude, and have bought two used cars from them over the past two years. Needless to say, I could have given them five star reviews every year for 25 years, but today Steve, Jeremy and the team at Regan's went beyond even stellar performance! Two days ago the engine light on my work car came on, the engine was clearly mis-firing and the car could not reach beyond 30 mph without the tachometer going wild. I called the station off the usual work hours, and the attendant put me in for the earliest appointment they had available - this coming Friday. This morning (Monday) I stopped by to have Steve listen to the car and tell me if he thought I could drive it at low speeds. Before he even listened to the car, he asked me if this was my busiest week of the year (which it is), because he knew I was in the real estate business and September 1 is traditionally the time in Greater Boston that most tenants move in and out of their apartments. He also explained that the mechanics were flat out and that they could work on getting me in earlier than Friday but not today. Then he listened to the car and said he would not drive it until it could be serviced, as the engine could seize and/or the catalytic converter get damaged with use. I was two minutes out of the service station, going to rent a car, when Steve called me to say that he had arranged a loaner car for me. Elated, I came back, got the loaner and went to work. Less than three hours later I received a call that they had diagnosed the problem and could fix it by noon. I am writing this review from my office at 12:59 pm with my fully functional vehicle in the driveway. Thank you, Regan's! This is the best service I have received from any business! read more

I use to love going to Regan's for gas and oil top off all the times. This time I went there to get the sticker on my car done, the Mechanic did not even ask if I want to change the lights that was out on the car replaced, He just fail the car. When I asked him why he would not relate the problems with me first! his answer was because the Tint on my car was too dark anyway. When I returned to my car this guy locked up all my seat belts in the car together. I found that very strange.!!! I went on line few days later to see this nut took pictures of my car and posted it on line. I will never go back to Regan's!!! not even for gas. read more
