I was so glad to see that Regency Cleaners has re-opened a few weeks ago! I'm just a few blocks away, so I have really been looking forward to the convenience of having a dry cleaner so near. My God I have never received a nicer, warmer reception in any business establishment in my entire life. Both the man and the woman (they must be the proprietors) greeted me warmly, welcomed me to their store, and the woman held my hands (awwwwww!) and thanked me for giving them my business. I haven't been treated so nicely (even by my friends! lol) for a long, long time. :) Their rates are fantastic, the parking has always been easy, and the female proprietor held my hand again (awwwwww!) the second time I came to the store. It took me a while to decide to write this review. I was initially very impressed by reviews I had read here on yelp, so I decided to leave my blankets, pillow shams, comforter and quilt at Regency Cleaners while I was on a business trip. When I went in, I explained that I would be away all month and asked if they would keep my items until I returned. The owner said yes. When I returned to pick up my items 40 days later, they could only find half my items. None of my blankets could be found, and the female owner explained that it had been over 30 days since I had left them. I didn't squawk. I thought that perhaps she didn't understand me when I said I would be gone all month. I left with the understanding that they would ask the weekend workers what happened. The owners suggested that they donate items left over 30 days because they have limited storage space. I thought that that made sense. However, when I went in the third time to check and see what the owners found out from the weekend workers, the female owner insisted that she remembered my picking up the items. I was incensed because that was not true!!! I would have been okay if she had simply said we gave your blankets away because you were late picking them up. She insisted that she was right (about my picking up my blankets) and wouldn't allow me to respond in defense. Finally, her husband took over and was much more accommodating. He said he would search for the items and call me but he never did. As another former customer stated in her review, if you have a complaint, expect a "defensive, negative, scornful attitude" from the owner. I thought I had found a cleaners I could trust and rely on. Unfortunately, that's not the case. This saddens me because, as most others have commented, the owners have great personalities as long as they produce good work on time, without anything being lost. There is a recurring theme at Regency Cleaners: "we despise white men". It's sad for me really, because I like the idea of this place - a good quality dry cleaners on the east side. But I am absolutely not exaggerating by saying that EVERY time - from the moment I walk in there - the older Asian woman (I think the owner or owner's wife), literally frowns. It's like I'm the invader force coming to destroy her village or something. And when I say literally, I mean literally, not figuratively (which nowadays is what "literally" has come to mean). She literally loses any-and-all joy in her face when seeing me. This is strange, because I'm there for her. For her. There to support her business by giving her my [not easily-earned] money. As this is happening, the Woman will kiss and hug and kiss (on both cheeks, by the way -- wasn't aware this was a Parisian cafe, but whatevs) a certain type of FEMALE customer. Said type is usually dark-haired, fair-skinned and slender - of paramount importance is the dark hair; I saw a poor blond gal in there waiting by the door sheepishly as the Asian woman doted over a [very attractive] half-Asian woman in her mid-20s. She must have been one of the regulars, whereas the blond was probably just there to cause trouble. So I'm in there recently and the Asian woman is kissing-on-both-cheeks this one female customer while this other young woman is waiting in line. Then, the Woman brings out this box of candies (from her homeland I guess) and generously offers them to both young women. Curiously, I glanced over to look (in hindsight most likely punishable by death in her book), and get this: the Asian Woman glares at me before guardedly clutching it to her chest and hiding it behind the register area. If looks could kill, holy shit... Anyway, wanted to update this to share my most recent experience. It's funny - the past four or five times I've been in there, the Woman doesn't even deal with me - she'll see me coming, scowl, then scurry off to the back pretending to do something while another employee 'deals' with me. This dry cleaner steals clothing. I dropped a very expensive shirt that Regency cleaners it was on the receipt that there was a black blouse dropped off for the other items the black blouse is gone the owner refused to look for it. And she was verbally abusive. read more

The people that own this place are amazing. Its a husband and wife and the wife is super sweet. Every time I come in she comes around and gives me a huge hug. I come in usually with a huge amount of clothes to have clean and she thanks me for thinking of them. I tell her that her place is amazing. My old cleaners destroyed at least one peice of clothing everytime I dropped it off. I think it was because they used a 3rd party plant that cleaned the clothes, so there was no quality control from the owner's part. Regency does their dry cleaning on premisis and the husband does it all, so each thing is taken care of by them. I was so happy to have found this place. GO here! This place is amazing. I guess there's a first time for everything, including a negative Yelp review, my first. So, here goes... I wanted Regency Cleaners to be my go-to neighborhood cleaners. I really did. The lady who works the front counter, Jenny, is a real sweetheart. Unfortunately, I've had terrible experiences every single time I've brought my laundry here - no exception. The first time I came, I picked up my beautiful Anthropologie blouse that I'd gotten as a gift - stretched beyond recognition (not sure how that happened?!). Other times I've picked up pieces with stains, missing belts and buttons. I'd really like this business to succeed, but have to warn others out there! You may have had better luck with this place, but A) DON'T count on them to deliver your clothes on time as promised and B) IF you have a problem with the quality of you drycleaning expect a defensive, negative, scornful attitude from the owner. As for me, sadly, a neighborhood business I totally wanted to support has been crossed off my list! read more

While pricey, this place beautifully cleans my delicate blouses, dresses, and work pants. Everything is pressed and ready exactly when they say it will be. They even take card for purchases over $10! I came once, was almost turned away by the price, but the quality and convenience couldn't fail me. read more

I've been bringing my clothes here for alterations but after the past two experiences will be taking my business elsewhere. The price for pant alterations jumped to $25 and they ruined 3 out of the 4 pairs I brought in. I got fitted but somehow they made 2 pairs too small (literally can't button them) and decided to put what can best be described as butt darts on the other. Not a solution for jeans ever. read more

The staff are very nice and accommodating. The prices are cheap and service is definitely 5 stars. I had this long coat that was super stained and grungy which I had no hope to bring back to life. I will add my voice to those lamenting the loss of this business. The owners were always courteous, gave me a discount now and then, and always did a good job. No leftover stains, not once (more than I can say about other such establishments). I did lose a pair of pants in the fire, and now I have a mismatched suit, but what the heck. It couldn't hurt to write another rave review, especially when the business is run by such wonderful, hard-working people. I bought some fancy thrift store items (wool skirt, 2 nice blazers) that I wanted cleaned before I wore them. Normally I can't seem to get the "thrift" smell out, no matter how many times I machine wash the items but the ones I got back from Regency smell like nothing which is how it should be! The only thing is I forgot to tell them to go light on the starch but it's my fault for not specifying. Not like the blazers were overly starchy, just more than I would like. The prices are dirt cheap. The service is like no other place. The owner even walked my clothes out to my car and hung them up for me. You're not going to find another place as good as this in LA. I plan on getting some pants hemmed from here real soon. read more

These guys are first rate. My girlfriend's dress zipper broke the morning before a wedding. Four tailors at other cleaners refused to even try to fix it. These guys were incredibly nice, understanding, and persistent! They were able to fix the zipper and save the day AND their price was extremely reasonable on a weekend no less. Ruined by new management. Previously great dry cleaner is now run by clueless new owners who know nothing about clothes, fabric, or how to keep track of inventory. I've been a regular for years but now have to find a new cleaners because it's been one mishap after another: clothes lost, shirts pressed poorly, and - the final straw - a wool sweater washed like laundry and totally ruined. Worst of all, they try to hide their mistakes and dont even offer to waive the charges! read more

This place is so great I had to post a review. I went here based on such positive yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint. I have now been here many times over the past few months for a variety of alterations, including a formal gown, casual dresses, and tailored pants, in addition to regular dry cleaning. Everything turned out beautifully (and was so inexpensive for such detailed work on delicate fabrics!). The turnaround time is also quick and they really accommodated me when I needed something important to be ready in a couple of days. My boyfriend ended up having a suit fitted and tailored too, and he has also been going here since. In addition to the workmanship, the owner is incredibly pleasant and friendly, like so many have noted before. I would definitely recommend this business to others for both tailoring and dry cleaning. read more

This is a great Echo Park business with excellent service. I suddenly found out I was going out of town and needed a bunch of thrift store shirts hemmed to my size. I popped into Regency for the first time and was treated really well by the incredibly friendly owner and staff. They took my measurements on the spot, taking the time to pin every shirt to my exact specs, even tho I had no appointment. They did the work fast and delivered it as promised, within 2 days. I miss Regency so much. Kris and Jenny were so amazing. If your clothes weren't up to snuff, they redid them for free, and the one time I had a shirt damaged there (a seam was pulled out--really no big deal) but they paid me the full value of the shirt! That's customer service. The cleaners down the street is no substitute, and after losing my clothes and not even offering to pay I now wish even more that Regency was back. read more

I design clothes in downown LA. When my samples came back stained and stretched from a fashion show, instead of making a new set of sample which could easy cost me two grands, i took them to Regency to try dry cleaning them.. Let me tell you, my samples don't look pristine- they look BETTER than pristine. I was blown away with care and outcome. Their customer service is phenomenal. There is nothing like it anywhere. They even make sure your change is crisp! The prices are great, and so is their work. The people here are so nice. They gave me a discount the first time I came in and she gave me a coupon for the next time I come. The lady is super friendly and will help you out to your car with your clothes. The prices are cheap and they are really good at taking out stains. They removed some bird poop from my jacket and some pen stains on my skirts. The turn around time is fast. It is also great that they are open so early so I can take in my clothes before work. They also do alterations, which seemed to be pretty reasonable so I may do that next time. read more
