I had 4 things hemmed with 'invisible' hemming and only one or two times after wearing it the hem fell out. too loose thread unraveled the whole thing. they refused to redo it on the 4th time I went back and said it must have been my fault and I had to pay $40 again to redo it. not great practice. never get invisible hemming there. read more

An average to below average dry cleaner. Don't expect anything of high quality from here. Dry cleaned multiple cashmere sweaters and they really damaged the fabrics. Nor were they cleaned. The price is also very non-kosher. They would automatically round up your bill or charge you for services you did not request. For example, I dropped out a few work shirts that were meant for laundry, and they automatically billed them for dry cleaning. No way I'd return. read more

Took 5 different very expensive hoodies and sweatshirts, when I got them back all of them were shrunk and seemed almost a size smaller and one of them was damaged. The point of over paying around $100 to get them cleaned was to avoid any damage being done or harsh temperatures that would shrink it. I could've had better results just using my machines at home and air drying which is what I'll do now until I find a decent dry cleaners. read more

I recently came to this dry cleaners, since I was not happy with my former dry cleaners, as they switched owners and are just NOT the same anymore. I was looking for a green option in my neighborhood. This is when I came across Silver-Glen. Located in the same parking lot for Starbucks and 365 Whole Foods, I thought, why not? I had a couple of sweaters, tops and two sleeping bags that needed cleaning. My items did come back clean, however, one of my tops was still a bit wrinkly. But what really put me over was the price! MY GAWD, $144 for a few items?!?! This is INSANE! I have NEVER paid this much for dry cleaning, even when bringing in such items! If I was expecting to pay this price, I might as well have gone somewhere else where prices like these are customary! I am NOT coming back. I've been here twice, one for an alteration and one to get a white bodysuit dry cleaned after staining it with red lipstick. They're extremely attentive and provided great customer service. I initially picked up my bodysuit but the red stain from the lipstick was extremely visible, they explained that they would try again but I had to ok as my garnet could potentially get damaged as it's a delicate lace piece. I picked it up yesterday and although the stain is still minor, it's almost not visible and they reiterated they did their best and I could tell. I will definitely continue coming here! read more

This is sad coz all these years I come to you guys to get my clothes dry cleaned. I trusted you. But the last couple times, I came home with them NOT cleaned at all. You didn't not even touched my clothes. You just hung them up on hangers and put plastic over it and tricked me into thinking they were clean. The dirt on my pants are still there. She offered to replace the damaged shirt, and explained that accidents do happen (though they go to great lengths to ensure they don't). I know accidents will happen, that's fine - What matters most to me is feeling like my money is going to an earnest, good-hearted business owner. She has a big heart and I will continue to give her my business moving forward. --- I sent a collection of 5 silk shirts to be drycleaned last week, and one of them was washed in blue ink and completely ruined. She immediately offered to replace the shirt, and acknowledged it was an expensive brand (retails for $230 new). I called back a few days later to follow up, and they informed me they can only give me $50 drycleaning credit. What the hell? She tried to say it was no longer worth $230 because it wasn't brand new with tags on. She said this kind of thing happens "all the time" and they can't afford to replace every single shirt that gets ruined. I am appalled. Beware, y'all. You may be sending your nice clothing to the lion's den if you go here. Anyone giving this place a positive review has been super lucky to not have an article of clothing damaged. Once your clothing gets damaged (and it happens "all the time"), you're screwed and they offer zero customer service. FIND ANOTHER DRYCLEANER. This is the kind of place where you always leave scratching you head and wondering if they made a mistake and overcharged you. But chances are you weren't overcharged. They're just psychotically expensive. Dry cleaning cost per shirt: $5.50 Laundry cost per shirt: $3.50 That would be tolerable, but shirts often come back poorly pressed with wrinkles in the shoulder area. That's fine at discount prices, but you pay all premium prices here. The people are friendly enough, but that doesn't do much to alleviate the sticker shock. Come here if money is no object. I LOVE Silverglen Cleaners. I can go as far as saying they are the BEST in LA. I was shocked to read some of the reviews and it just goes to show you that you can't please everybody all the time. You can trust my review as I have been using them for years and also use them for my retail store. Alterations: 5 Stars! I ripped a hole in my D & G Suit jacket in the arm and they somehow mended it and saved my entire suit from going to waste. Not to mention hundreds for alteration jobs for my store. Never an issue. Dry Cleaning: Once again, 5 stars. I recommend all my clients to take their items there as our merchandise is delicate and easily ruined if not careful. Never had an issue. I also use them to clean all of my business attire. Fabulous. Staff: Amazing. Family owned. So sweet. Always helpful and polite. I will always use Silverglen, even though I don't live in Silverlake anymore. Don't believe everything you read on Yelp. Some people just don't get it and never will. Omg I cannot believe how RUDE and incompetent the owner of this store is, her name is Mary. My blood is boiling right now just writing this review!!! I have this beautiful, expensive maxi dress that i bought and it's too long. I brought this dress to this sh**ty silver glenn cleaners to hem it. I picked it up a few hours before my party where I was going to use the dress. When I got home after taking a shower, I realized the dress was still 4, not one, but 4 inches still longer!!!!!! I couldn't walk in it!!!! But how can this be when i tried it on in front of 1 of their staff and they measured so it will be the exact length that i want! I even wore the shoes I was gonna wear it with! So anyways i loved this dress so much that i just had to wear it that night so i ended up cutting it MYSELF a few mins just before my friends picked me up. UN freakin BELIEVABLE!!! So i paid 20 freakin dollars ( for a 10 dollar job elsewhere ) for nothing!! It's like i threw away my money, and wasted all my energy just driving there to drop it off, then driving back to pick it up!! And to top it off, a few days later i called to at least get some credits, and guess what?! That stupid Mary even yelled at me, did not let me talk and said she could not do anything about it, that they did their (sh**ty) job and of course they have to get paid for it!! She just went on and on and she didn't let me get a word in!! NASTY. They suck BIG time. I hope their business closes down because obviously they do not know the term " customer service " . Soo RUDE. These guys are fantastic. Family owned, and very friendly. The owner even brings his cute little dog to work. They are quick, and they do good alteration work. Recently, a ticket fell off and so she said I didn't have any shirts to pickup, but sure enough she went looking just in case, and the next day I called and she had found my shirts. I guess they actually know what my shirts look like after all this time! I definitely recommend them, I feel a lot safer taking my clothes to them than anyone else for sure. read more

the Silver Glen crew is first rate, friendly, and fast. Most importantly, they seem to be able to handle some pretty varied stains with relative ease about 95% of the time, which is damn good. I find their prices a bit on the high side, but not outlandish. ultimately, when you can count on your drycleaner, you gotz to pay to play just a bit. and like i said, it's only a slight premium. meantime, they do some good alterations, though i have reverted to my regular tailor for that on more complicated jobs. finally, WATCH OUT for the kamikaze drivers in the parking lot! it's a huge lot with many entrances/exits, but quite narrow. i've been almost torpedoed on several occasions, and for some reason there's always some clueless zoned out moron or three on 'ludes who either backs out or barrelasses in indiscriminately. cuidado! read more

SIlver Glen is my dry cleaner. I have been a customer since they first opened. Okay, let me break my review down: *5 stars* for personality and customer service. I love the family that owns--and works at--Silver Glen. They are friendly, outgoing, and EXCEL at taking care of their customers. *4 stars* for the dry cleaning: sometimes my clothes are retuned to me in fabulous condition, other times they look like a rushed job. *2 stars* for the tailoring. The man is just not very good. He hemmed my $200+ BCBG pants and the lengths were uneven. I took my curtains there to be shortened: they also came back uneven. When it comes to sewing holes in my husband's beloved tees, this is my tailor. But for everything else, I go elsewhere. Either way, I must admit I -heart- SIlver Glen Cleaners. read more

Somehow this place managed to get a coffee or hot chocolate stain (can't remember which it was) out of a dress- the stain was from at least a year and a half ago. When I took out the dress to wear I noticed the stain and was super sad- especially because I know I washed and dried it after it got the stain and I thought I got it out when I washed it. I took it to Silver Glen Cleaners and now there's no stain whatsoever! I'm so glad I took it in. I love the dress and my mom gave it to me so I figured it was worth an attempt- but I didn't expect it to come out completely! Worth every penny. read more

I've lived in the neighborhood for 10+ years and overlooked the couple of mishaps with Silver Glen until now. A favorite vintage coat - one they had cleaned without issue previously - was ruined. I get things can unfortunately happen, but expected much better customer service, especially for the prices they charge and the many years I've been coming here. They can be friendly, but do be sure to double check your clothing and bill before leaving. read more

They lost a dress shirt and one of my favorite suits (they gave me back a different suit and dress shirt that were ridiculously large for me 40 vs. 32 pants and 17.5 vs. 15.5 dress shirt) and had the audacity to suggest I somehow lost the suit at another dry cleaners, like I would go and drop off clothes to them that weren't mine for cleaning. Then they claimed I should have returned the clothes in 24 hours because that's their "policy." I only would go to this location for dry cleaning and I was incredibly disappointed at the way they treated the situation. They lost years of business over their handling of one suit. Hopefully my warning will prevent you from getting screwed over. I tried handling it with them informally several times and they told me there is "nothing they could do" and told me to go search my closet. Honest mistakes are fine, but the way you handle those situations speaks volumes about what kind of business you run. Thanks for losing one of my favorite suits Silver-Glen Cleaners. While not a frequent dry cleaner, I have been going to Silver-Glen Cleaners in Silverlake for 13 years. Two years ago the ruined my fiance's dress, but we chalked it up to the unusual fabric, and that even though we said do not press it, they decided to do it anyway. This morning I went to wear a suit that had just come back from them yesterday and it was just a disaster. It looked liked someone had rolled it on the ground. I asked for no creases, and it looks like first they creased it and then tried to press the crease out causing press burns. When I went back to show them the suit and get my money back, they accused me of "wearing the suit and then bringing it back", or that "maybe I stepped on my suit with my shoes or something." They would not refund my money. That said, I will be taking my suit somewhere else and hopefully it will be able to be fixed. I am so mad that if it can not be fixed I will be taking them to small claims court. I will never go back to this place, it is expensive, their service has gone from okay to bad over the last few years and I have let it kind of slide. I would beware of taking any quality garment to this place. EDIT AND UPDATE - Amazing. I just took another suit out that I had cleaned at this place. I have not worn it since before the incident from above. Simply put. WORST CLEANERS EVER!!!!!! Do not take your clothes here unless you want them to be ruined. This place used to be decent when I first started going there over 13 years ago, but from what you can see from others, and my past several experience this place now sucks. EDIT 9-07-2016 - After taking my suit to two different dry cleaners and being told that it was ruined. as well as very clearly ruined to being pressed to hot, and some sort of chemical reaction I have filed suit against this place in small claims court. They do a great job for very reasonable prices. I've tried several shops in the area for dry cleaning and alterations, and had some bad experiences, but not here! I once brought in a blanket with cat puke on it that I had previously taken to another cleaner where I was charged a lot and left with a crusty vomit stain. I thought it was hopeless, but at Silver-Glen it was no problem to make it good as new, and for less $. What a useful resource since though my cat is healthy, he pukes often and without warning...I know living in LA is stressful and we all deal with it differently. I haven't tried this place for alterations, but if they do as well with that then they deserve 5 stars! read more

Some of you all need to chill a little bit. I am straight-up poor, so every penny counts. Sure, this place is a little pricey, but they came through for me in a real way this week. I realized at the last minute that I had NO IDEA how to press trousers and I had my first ever grad school interview at my #1 choice for school the NEXT morning. I brought my suit in to be pressed in a rush and it cost me only $`17. In my mind, that's a bargain because I am from NYC. When I got home, I realized that my shirt was still a little wrinkly, and I thought I even saw a stain and this shirt was brand-spanking-new. I called Silver-Glen and explained the situation and i'm sure I was not at my most polite. Despite this, the lady who answered was incredibly nice to me and offered to re-press the suit. She even asked some of her employees to stay a bit later to do this for me. This was on the back of a week during which everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong in spectacular fashion. I went into Silver-Glen to get my shirt re-pressed (Freudian?) and I was a total mess. Not only did the lady at the counter hear me out and offer to "fix" (there was no stain, I was just that stressed out) my shirt free of charge, she also offered me some words of encouragement and reassurance. This was at the end of an incredibly hot (like, 100 degree) day when the last thing she probably wanted to do was deal with some neurotic pre-professional student on the verge of a breakdown. So yes, I am writing a multi-paragraph review of a dry cleaner because sometimes you are having a terrible week and all it takes is one person's kindness to bring you back from the edge and as dramatic as it may sound, that's what I got at Silver-Glen cleaners. GREAT Customer Service! The folks at Silver-Glen are such a pleasure to work with. I brought in a dress to be hemmed but after I dropped it off they called to let me know the dress needed to be hemmed with a very special machine that they didn't have. Instead of returning the dress to me un-hemmed, they went above and beyond to call their contacts and personally drive my dress over to a different tailor who had the machine. Not only did they make sure my dress was finished on time (even early!) they also kept the store open a few minutes late so I could rush over and pick it up before they closed. Truly amazing service and I will continue to visit Silver-Glen for all my tailoring and dry cleaning needs! read more
