Went back to Regina's on a Sunday for brunch. The place was packed, but the wait wasn't too long (reservations are recommended though). We had a great version of shakshuka, this one containing not just (poached) eggs, tomatoes and zug sauce, but also roasted sweet potatoes. While the taste was great overall, the sweet potatoes are what really made this dish outstanding. We also had the lion's mane mushroom sandwich with fries. The lion's mane mushroom had a nice outside coating. The weird consistency of the mushrooms was more noticeable in this dish though than in the dinner entree we had here before, where the lion's mane was used in a gnocchi pasta. But the taste was still quite good. The fries here are always good, whether their basic ones or the Japanese-style seasoned Totoro fries. Service as usual was excellent -- friendly and efficient. You will need a reservation and it will be worth it. If you are the person speeding on Paton Ave in the west side then you will miss the pink building and the amazing experience within. Our small group of friends chose to celebrate a Valentine's dinner. It is a limited menu but you will find something that will make you want more. Several entree's serving portions are presented large enough to share in a family style. A variety of influences from different cultures and many options of protein are from farms in North Carolina. It didn't take long for me to choose the burger with a side of Pecorino fries. After eating the focaccia bread, I wasn't able to save room for dessert but all the reasons to return. the food was absolutely 10/10. the kitchen staff absolutely know what's up. HOWEVER the front of house staff is absolutely abysmal. We were left alone the whole time and the server made us feel like a burden. it wasn't even busy or anything i think she just didn't like us? we didn't see her until we were pretty much done and i gave up getting anything else (like a refill). This was my first time at this restaurant. It's fairly cute and in a retro style. With retro pictures on the wall. The waitresses were lovely. They explained everything and they were very kind. We noticed them chatting with other people at other tables throughout our meal.. I ordered the chicken and waffles and I am sad to say that the chicken was very bland and the waffle was downright dry. My daughter had an egg dish our waitress recommended to her and she said it was absolutely delicious. So I just may have chosen badly that day. I came here from a recommendation of potential new boyfriend. It was pretty dead inside but the service was very good. I got a Hugo spritz and some rose drink, the Hugo spritz was a little dissapointing. My boyfriend god chicken and waffles and it was great. I asked how the flank steak was prepared and I was told medium, which was true, but it was also coated in sauce, which I hated. The steak itself was great, the sweet potato fries it came in was great, but I wish I knew it would be drowning in sauce. Stopped in today for lunch based on a Yelp search near me. When I pulled into the parking lot I was a little underwhelmed, but decided to give it a try. I walked in and was immediately greeted and after a quick look I thought this could be good. I had a wonderful wait person who when asked made a few recommendations. A nice surprise. My family and I were driving around looking for a place to eat dinner when we saw Regina's. I enjoyed the atmosphere the second I walked inside. It's warm, cozy, comfortable, and relaxed. My wife and I shared the chicken and waffles and were very impressed. It was the best we've ever had. My daughter enjoyed her cheeseburger, very much. We tried Regina's on a rainy week day and easily found a seat. The waiter was extremely pleasant and competent. The pink interior walls are a bit jarring but the banquet was quite comfy and welcoming. Honestly one of the best biscuits I've ever had. It came loaded with bacon, scrambled egg, and gooey cheese. My husband had the biscuit with perfectly seasoned gravy. The local roasted coffee was also delightful. I was really excited to try Regina's because I love little local spots! There's a precious little area out back with tables if you choose to be outside, also seating throughout the restaurant. After reviewing the menu and asking the server a few questions, I was a little bummed as there wasn't really a vegan option listed. I did really appreciate that the server offered to double check items for me (this is unfortunately pretty rare). I was going to just go with a nice iced latte, but the chef offered to cook something for me with fresh veggies from the garden! They made a really nice sandwich that was the perfect lunch. Regina's is a hidden gem. It's off the beaten path, but very accessible. Somebody had a brilliant concept to level-up a comfort food diner, and they executed beautifully. Do yourself a favor and order the home fries for the table in addition to whatever else you're ordering. They are SPECIAL. We had chicken and waffles, breakfast burrito, and a make-your-own-plate including bacon, avocado and toast. When a diner is acing all the basics like this, you can't go wrong. Bacon is crispy. Avocado is ripe. Toast is warm and served with room temp butter. THE WAFFLE TASTES AMAZING BECAUSE THE BATTER IS FERMENTED FOR DAYS BEFORE GOING INTO THE IRON!!! Also, I've rarely had service as good as the staff provided. We mentioned an ingredient sensitivity at the beginning of our meal, and each server we interacted with was aware and responsive. Although this place just opened they are hitting hard on all sides. The decor is on point, modern, timeless and charming. The food is wonderful. They have a smaller menu but honestly I don't even think it needs to expand. It hits all the flavors, textures and traditional diner foods. But modernized. The waffle had very little taste beyond a standard Eggo one could make at home. The service was mediocre and the dishes, including drinks, were very overpriced.
