For over 30 years we've been trying every shop in Chicago and the burbs and we ALWAYS return here because Rehman Sweets IS THE BEST! Honestly, No shop can top them. They are the same family that used to be Pak Sweets on Devon years ago but are no longer part of Pak Sweets. Now they are Rehman Sweets here in Villa Park. All the delicious flavors, quality hand made items, authentic age old recipes and friendly family service carry over to their customers. When we go to visit relatives in other states they always special request for us bring 2 dozen Rehman Sweets samosa's even though they have famous Desi snack shops in the cities where they live! All the sweets (methi) from here are fit for a king. The halwa puri is amazing and now we don't order it anywhere else as it always ended up a disappointment. This was my first visit to this place. Simply put this place is ok to subpar range. Went there on Sunday at 10:30 AM to try their traditional Halwa Puri breakfast. They are located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Restaurant is small with a fast food style feel to it. We ordered two Halwa Puri with two Chai. Had to wait a few minutes to find a table. After getting seated I felt claustrophobic with the extremely tight seating arrangement. Waited about 45 minutes for the order. Bit on the pricey side i.e. $13 for Hawla Puri that normally sells for $8 at other places. Once our order number was called I picked up the food with around 10 people gathered around the front desk. Felt like a mini chaos to pickup the food. Food itself was ok. I would rate just the food 3 out of 5, compared to the overall experience of 2 out of 5. Halwa Puri was served like a platter with various items in the plate. Presentation was good. Potato salan was really good, perfect balance of spice and flavor, Chana salan (chickpeas) were bit undercooked but the flavor was ok, Halwa was very watery and diluted and lacked the texture but the flavor was decent. This was served with yogurt and pickles and three Puris. Generally speaking at other places Puris are very oily but theirs was just right. They were out of other breakfast items in the morning such as Unda (Egg) Pratha (Bread). They had a small section of traditional sweets in the display case. My goal was to try them but I got overwhelmed by the rush and mini chaos in there and opted to leave after finishing the breakfast. Overall this place has a potential to be an excellent South Asian breakfast restaurant but at the moment they lack the customer service, organization and lack of staffing. I could tell the staff felt overwhelmed and stressed there. If you are not looking to drive to Devon Ave for good Halwa Puri and are ok with rush and extended wait time you can try this place. Based on my experience I will try other places first before going back there. read more

I decided to try the Chicken Tikka Pizza, Papri Chaat and some mix mithai, all to go. Wow I was impressed by all of them. There isn't many desi shops that are good. No need to go to Devon to get snacks and mithai. This place lives up to some Devon restaurants . The price and quantity is great. The taste of their food is great too. If you are looking for the best halwa puri come to this place and you won't regret it but be ready to wait because the lines are longer over the weekends. It is almost $13/person and you get 3 puri, potato curry, chickpea curry, halwa, yogurt and mango pickle with it which for the taste and quality of the items is a very good deal, $2 more and you get yourself some nice hot milk tea. If they can work on the wait time and the cleanliness of the place it would be an amazing experience but the quality and taste of the food is superb thats why it would be unfair of me to take any stars away. read more

We were in Lombard looking for a mithai shop. Found this one and decided to try it. Turned out a bad choice! None of their Mithai tasted like it should. The price was high and they have incorporated 20% tip in their computer as well. So whether you like the mithai & service or not you have to pay the tip as a courtesy. Hands down the best papri chaat i have had ever since i came to Chicago, and their sweets are way way better then those synthetic tasting 'tahoora sweets'. Our family treated us to Halwa Puri here, everything we ordered tasted amazing except for the puri itself which was very oily tasting and turned hard very quickly. The chana, aloo salan, papri chaat, bun kebabs, mathai and mango lassi were all on point. The chai, which I did or taste was average per my family members. The service was amazing, there was only one person working the front counter and it was pretty busy however the wait for food wasn't long. I was craving pani puri and heard that Rehman Sweets was the closest place to me that offers it so my husband and I decided to check it out. We ordered pani puri, gulab jamun, motichur ladoo And a beef paratha roll. The food took a little time to make but it wasn't that bad of wait and I understand they're a new business so in the beginning, things take time. Everything we ordered was delicious! The food was very flavorful and the prices are reasonable too. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the beef paratha roll was too dry. I had to add lots of chutney to it to be able to swallow it easily. I would suggest adding more sauce to the rolls in the future & the boy at the counter should be more friendly and smile. read more

Just picked up 30 black jasmine, price tag was $34 so I commented to the person at the cashier so it's over $1 per jamun and he said yes it's about $8.99 per pound still trying to figure out how fried dough that's the size of a golf ball can cost a dollar. This place is like black hole , where time seems to be immortal and universal laws of time and space don't apply.There is no efficiency or acknowledgement of us being in their Area 51. The cashier will stare at you without mentioning why there is a delay and as you casually sit with your family discussing your family matters and then also it seems like you have time to kill.Last time we were there , they took their sweet time to bring our food and to kill our stay there we all were able to celebrate our birthdays and then call our family members on whatsapp in different time zones.We forgot what we had ordered and we honestly did not remember what we had ordered as it seemed like a decade had passed. read more

I love this place. Owners of Pak Sweets on devon Avenue have opened this restaurant. It has great halwa puri, and their mithais are very yummy. And we do not have to drive that far out also. We are bought their Nimko which they make themselves, very good. Also their papri chat is delicious, they may over do the papri on top and they make it both a spicy and less spicy version. read more

Recently heard about this place and decided to check it out after reading the reviews. Went in for a samosa chat and beef paratha roll. Decided to get some for my in laws as well. They loved it and asked where it was from and will be heading over there this weekend. I thought the samosa chat was good and the paratha roll was excellent.
