I went in for the 30 minute chair massage today and it was the best massage I've ever had (and I've had plenty). The massage therapist (Mae) provided very firm pressure and knew where all the knots were in my back without me saying a word. When the 30 minute massage started, she went straight to work. This is the place to go. Nice modern clean decor. Staff is very good at what they do. You may need to tell them what you need - since they don't normally ask. The prices are exceptional, especially for the prepay deals on Sweedish and deep-tissue massages. The masseuses are very communicative. They must have taken the other yelp reviews about the massages being too hard very seriously, because every one of my masseuses has asked me about pressure, and then checked frequently with me during the massage to see if I wanted the pressure changed. I will note that one masseuse, JJ, was the first to really explain to me the difference between a deep tissue and Sweedish massage and why with my level of knots I might want to try a deep tissue in the future. No one at any other parlors had bothered to explain the difference to me before and why I might prefer the one over the other. The service is excellent. On one occasion, during a specials week, my massage was late, and the staff was exceedingly apologetic and offered me a free essential oils upgrade to compensate me. I appreciated that both the lateness was the exception rather than the rule, that they were aware of it and made me aware of it, and wanted to try to make it up to me by enhancing my massage. Today was my first time trying this place out and I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. The place was very lovely and clean from what I could see. I was politely greeted and then shown to my chair where I would begin my reflexology massage. My masseuse was very nice and attentive. She started the massage and then I started to hear some noise and I realized that the other coworkers were rearranging the furniture. They were swapping out the old chairs for new chairs and making a bunch of noise as if they had no idea I was sitting right there. I looked at my therapist and she just sweetly told me she was sorry several times. The Coworkers continued to move furniture around and talk to each other. I could not relax. Although my masseuse was very sweet and apologetic I have had better massages in the past not just because of The noise but because of the lack of pressure I started to wonder if she really did have any credentials. I was also cheated out of 10 minutes from my one hour massage. It felt very rushed and she just didn't seem to be into it. I would like to come back and try this place at least one other time. I hope that it's not as loud and I hope that the other coworkers can show some professionalism and consideration. I really wanted to like this place. I was hoping to purchase my husband a gift certificate but after my experience today I know that he would be very upset and not relaxed. Maybe it was just a fluke but really it's just common sense. Went in last Sunday to purchased a gift card. Lady ran my atm card then said it did not work so I let her run it again. Find out I was charged twice. Went in to spa with bank records and receipts and showed spa manager. Spa manager refusing to refund the extra charge. Now I have to file a fraud case with my bank to get my money back. Beware using your credit cards/ATM cards at this shop you may be paying twice as much as you think. read more

I was searching through Groupon for a good birthday present for my best friend and settled on a massage (she deserves it!). Looking through the local spas, I came across Relax Ave so I went to Yelp and saw the glowing reviews and decided to buy the Groupon. On top of that, I checked out their website and saw that they offer a free 30-minute foot massage coupon that you can redeem during the week of your birthday if you sign up for their email list. Seeing as my birthday was coming up, I decided to give them a trial of my own and I was so glad I did! Relax is close to my work so I headed there and found the place easily. It was dimly lit and quiet inside, with a Zen-like atmosphere. The receptionist quickly took my coupon and ushered me to the lobby to wait while my hot water was prepared. Shortly I was taken for my 30-minute foot massage and honestly, I have never fallen asleep during a foot massage but this one was heavenly! I didn't catch the masseuse' name but he was terrific, always checking if his pressure was fine and when he noticed I had a bruise from some birthday shenanigans, he asked if he should avoid the area. I now have first hand experience to recommend this place to my best friend when she redeems her Groupon and I can safely say I'll be buying a package deal for myself as well! read more

I called and got an appointment same day. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and wanted to try some foot reflexology to activate acupressure points. I've had it done at other places, but this place was the best I've had. The staff is very friendly and the environment is dim, quiet, and feels private for an open room since the front desk is separated by glass doors. The head massage was heavenly! You have to check this place out. I got this deal through Groupon for $29 for 60 min. Swedish. I usually go for deep tissue as my job (dental hygienist) demands it. So I wasn't sure what to expect. I've had Swedish before and they were not enough for me. I LOVED it. I had Tom (usually I have female masseuses), so just a wee bit unsure what to expect. The place was clean, very zen/Asian decor. Clean linens, very quiet. Tom didn't really ask my trouble spots, so I figured I'd let him find them. And boy, did he. I really feel he wound up doing deep tissue. Warm towels placed 3/4 of the way through was a pleasant surprise. Bottom line? Way more than I expected or usually pay 3 x as much for elsewhere. You need to try it. You will love it. read more

I still love this place but had a scary experience yesterday. I was getting a chair massage before the foot massage and she was digging really hard into my skull and neck. I thought it was too hard but I figured she has a license so she must know what she's doing. Within about two minutes I started feeling nauseous and my hands were clammy and I started feeling extremely lightheaded. I thought it might pass but it quickly got worse. I knew I was going to faint so I got out if the chair saying I don't feel right. Something's wrong. And laid down on the floor next to the chair. I thought I might die. It was really scary. Ive fainted once in my life and this felt like that but much worse. There were suddenly four people attending to me trying to help. They were really nice. Got me some water and tried to give me sugar. I kept telling them she pushed up into my skull and probably cut off oxygen to my brain. Finally it passed and I said I could get up. They said let's forget the chair and just do feet. I said okay thinking they would get someone else since it's pretty serious what happened. I assumed they would not let her work on anyone else after all that. But she did my feet! It wasn't good. She basically just rubbed the same spot over and over like she would take the skin off. Not a real massage. For the first time I just wanted my massage to be over. Super sweet lady but she doesn't have the touch and she clearly doesn't have the knowledge of the human body so that she doesn't make you pass out. No more chair massage for me here. This review is strictly for the bizarre foot reflexology massage I got from one gentleman here. Before I begin, I will say that I was sitting in a large, extremely quiet room with other patrons and didn't say anything to him to avoid disturbing the silence for everyone. To begin, he massaged my head by digging only his thumbs down into my scalp. My eyes started to water and my scalp was sore the next day. For my feet, he had a gentle touch, but there was no method that he used. For instance, he wouldn't use the same massage pattern on each foot. Like on my left foot he pinched the tips my toes very hard, which was awkward and uncomfortable, and ran his thumb up and down the outside of my foot. On my right foot, he massaged the same exact spot in the middle arch of my foot for like 10 mins and didn't touch my toes once. I noticed that during the entire massage, he would slow down almost to a complete stop. After a few seconds, he started again. He did this over and over. I opened my eyes and noticed that it's because HE WAS FALLING ASLEEP! His head was hanging down and he would catch himself and wake back up. I was genuinely concerned and asked if he was ok. He did it so many times that his colleague next to him took notice. At certain times, she had to show him what to do, like it was his first day. Maybe it was. I get it - it's a warm, relaxing room with soothing music and lots of calming effects. But still I went there thinking I'm getting reflexology when I really just got a tired attempt at a regular foot massage. I paid my bill and tipped him 18% and walked out laughing to myself about it. read more

Today I went for my second 60 minute Swedish massage and if I could give them a "10 star" rating I would. Linda focused on my shoulders and neck which is where I carry my stress. She seemed to intuitively hit all of my tight spots. She also massaged my head and scalp, which I love. At the end, she gently stretched my arms and leg. I am writing this review after a bad experience... I have had great massages and not- so- great massages at this location. If you find a therapist you like then try and rebook with that person for future. This is a no frills spa with nice decor and occasional good deals. (I am not comfortable with the signs in every massage room which request you give the therapist 15-20.00 tip. I DO tip my massage therapist that much because I CHOOSE to, but take issue with being told to do so.) One of the nice things they have offered is a half hour foot massage for your birthday. I have used this in the past and many other specials as well as pre purchased packages over the years. My experience today was terrible customer service! Do you ever ask yourself, " What the hell happened to people caring about their customers?" And....," Are you kidding me?" -- Again, I have been coming for years and continue to return even after being occasionally unhappy with massages. One time they over-booked for a special they were running and I happily agreed to be squished into extra room that was used for storage. I didn't vent until I called back to ask for the manager and was met with the same ,'I'm not real concerned about your unhappiness', attitude...no ability to contact a manager...no apology .... no solution. I absolutely love this place! I just got my first treatment and Lisa was so awesome! I was so nervous about how painful it was going to be and didn't really know what to expect at first. Lisa calmly explained everything to me as she was doing it and asked me what pain level I felt. It did hurt briefly but it only took about 15 minutes and the pain was gone right after. I have pretty much no pain tolerance and I wasn't in that much pain during the treatment. I highly recommend this place, and I am looking forward to my future sessions! read more

I found this little gem from purchasing a GROUPON deal....I never noticed it was even there. I love the quiet, dark and relaxing atmosphere. Everyone whispers. My first experience was the one hour foot massage. I was in HEAVEN....OMG. I brought my Mom the next time and we both had a hour foot massage....she couldn't believe how wonderful it was. She's 91yr and she said she had never experienced anything like that before. I've been back many times since then. I've had different people each time. I've had 60 and 30 minute foot massages, 60 and 90 minute massages. The majority of those experiences were heavenly. Even though I always requested a female with a gentle touch I've had a few massages that were way too deep for me. They really don't speak English so it's hard to communicate with...they are all so nice. They have great deals to keep me coming back. The setup is a little different if you're used to the fancy "spa-water" day spas. The foot and chair massage area is communal, but nicely done and very quiet. The private rooms are more standard. I saw "John" today and he was FANTASTIC. But don't expect customized service as no one here speaks a word of English as far as I can tell. The monthly Specials are very good deals, as are the pre-paid combo packs, and if you sign up for e-newsletter you get a free massage for your birthday. Relaxing, Relaxing, Relaxing! Bought certificate on living social for the 60 minute massage and 30 minute foot reflexology. We arrived and were checked in and taken directly to these really comfy recliners. The massage therapist came over with a wooden bucket of warm water and I put my feet in, I was draped with a comfy blanket and the seat was adjusted so I was forced into a relaxed mode. Nancy made sure that my arms were relaxed before working on my feet, it was awesome! Then moved into the massage room which was very tranquil and got a very deep tissue massage, it was great! The owners of the spa did a great job with the decor, it's very luxurious and inviting. The living social deal was great, and the regular prices of the spa are very reasonable as well and they do have specials all the time. It's no frills, but quiet, great ambience, and the price can't be beat. I called to make a full body massage appointment. The guy on the phone mentioned that they have a special going on for a 75min massage Aug special for $40. I booked the appointment for my husband and I. We were both looking forward to the massage and a relaxing evening instead we received a mediocre service: 20min chair massage 55 min of foot massage. The whole time it felt like we were receiving an oil bath. They simply spread oil all over our feet and just stroke it non stop. No massage technique what so ever. It was the most uncomfortable 55mins of our lives!!! The staff who are not working kept talking and gigling and we hear doors being slammed non stop. The room body massage was $50 and I wished I booked that instead of this nonsense foot "touching". When the "massage" was over I gave the ladies $10 each and they both complained!!! We just paid them a total of $100 for a 75min of uncomfortable touching and they have the nerve to complain. What these Chinese Massage place need to understand is that in America, tip is optional and it all depends if the customer was happy and satisfied with the service. I was being polite for giving them $10 per person, but instead they reacted in such a rude way!!!!! Ah I feel like I was robbed. Both my Husband and myself have been coming here for two years on a weekly basis and I'm happy to say that we have great massages here :). The staff is always very friendly and the spa is always clean and inviting. You immediately feel relaxed just walking in as you are surrounded by the peaceful noises of their waterfall. I'm a firm believer in having your massage suit your needs so I never feel bashful about asking for more/less pressure, more/less attention to certain area, etc. and I'm never disappointed by the end of my appointment.
