I had an appointment for a massage that I needed Re-scheduled and I spoke with the front desk associate she had scheduled me for the following day of the prior phone call. I had not received a conformation upon rescheduling but I thought nothing off it. I called on the day of my service to be met with the information that I did not in fact have an appointment. When I called the individual on the phone was more concerned about talking to her colleague as I heard when she took my call. That she didn't confirm on her end for the rescheduling. Mistakes happen and people are human but when I spoke to a different associate on the day of my service, she stated to me that I was scheduled for a different day at a time that was completely different from my intended time which to me proves the lack of listing. With Danville opening up I will be conducting my business elsewhere. Therapist are fantastic which makes the situation all that more unfortunate. read more

I had my first experience at The NOW yesterday and booked an 80-minute prenatal massage with David -- I was so grateful they were able to accommodate a same-day appointment. I went in with severe neck spasms and very limited range of motion. Since I'm pregnant and unable to take prescription medications, I was really uncomfortable and hoping for some relief. David was absolutely amazing. He listened carefully to what was going on, worked thoughtfully and intentionally, and focused on the areas that needed the most attention. I woke up this morning completely pain-free with full range of motion -- something I honestly didn't think would happen that quickly. It made such a difference. He also took the time to show me a few stretches to help prevent the issue from coming back, which I really appreciated. The space itself was clean and smelled wonderful. It has an open concept with draped private sections rather than fully enclosed rooms. While it's not 100% soundproof, they play ocean sounds at a volume that makes it very difficult to hear anything else, and I still felt relaxed and comfortable. The pillows on the table were incredibly comfortable too. Overall, such a positive first experience. I will definitely be back and highly recommend David ! read more

I've been struggling with knots on my traps and shoulders and severe neck pain due to third tri pregnancy heaviness. I signed up for the membership to try it out. The ambience of the place is actually really great - you walk in to a friendly person at the desk, healing crystals and a nice, streamlined interior - slightly rugged but clean-rugged if that makes sense. The masseuse will sit you down and talk to you about what you need prior in a super whispery voice which gets your brain prepped for the upcoming relaxation. There's soothing ocean wave sounds in the rooms that make you feel like extra mush. All these are great! Now the massage itself, I think I have to go and try again because I simply fell asleep. I asked for medium to firm pressure and vocalized again during the massage but maybe she was afraid to go hard since I'm pregnant - because I didn't really feel much pressure at all. Her touch was so feather light that it put me to sleep pretty much the whole time. I don't think any of the knots on my shoulders were resolved from this session but I did feel uber relaxed afterwards. I think I want to try one more time though... and since I signed up for the membership I guess I can go next month when my credit's in. I've been to a lot of massage places while pregnant and this was by far the lightest massage I've had, and I'm not sure I feel that much relief from my sore neck and shoulders after. I had an amazing year long membership here at the Now. I moved so that's the only reason why I no longer have a membership. I get massages 1-2 times a month and I am PICKY. I can honestly say with the 24+ massages and multiple people I brought in as guests, I only had 2 mediocre massages! Nicole the owner is so sweet and I truly think she hand selects each of her employees with the customer in mind! I have also tried lightwave and would have loved to add on a membership there but was moving 1 month after they opened! End of the day - this place is your go to for massages !! There was a problem with my app, apparently, & I booked under the assumption that I had 1 credit. When I checkout the girl at the desk says "okay that'll be $135" and I said "there should be a credit that was used" she looks and quickly tells me she's going to run to the back to talk to her manager. She comes back and says "There's no credit. I can't pull the payment because your membership is at Danville so there's nothing we can do. Your total is $135." I then proceed to tell her that there was in fact a credit showing on my app or else I wouldn't book. She said she didn't know how to use the app and there's nothing else she could do. I explained that the credit was clearly showing on my app when I booked, otherwise I wouldn't have scheduled the appointment. She then said she didn't know how to use the app and couldn't help further. I first found out about The Now when I was living in LA, and it quickly became my favorite massage place ever. It's no surprise then that when I found out they were opening Bay Area locations, I hopped on that right away and got a membership! In general, The Now is the most aesthetic, clean, and calming massage place that I've been to. The interior is earthy and minimal (think linen, jute, and plants), the studio itself is scented with this luxurious jasmine scent from their signature candle, they always have lemon/cucumber water ready to offer you, and ocean waves are the soundtrack to your massage. It truly is the best place to unwind and relax all your senses. Some specifics for this location-- MASSAGES/ADD ONS: I usually get the Stretch or the Now massages, would recommend Stretch if you work out often, whereas the Now is more of a standard massage. I also like the herbal heat therapy add on. Scalp add on is nice too but be prepared to have lots of product in your hair, and the scalp portion does take time away from focus on other parts of your body--I don't get this add on as much for these reasons. Gua sha can be nice as well, though can also be a little painful LOL. I did like that it taught me some gua sha techniques that I can use at home. Overall PROS: - everyone is so friendly and accommodating, you feel welcome right away upon stepping inside this location - I like that they check in before your massage and ask about what your goals are/any problem areas - membership is cost-saving, would recommend if you frequently get massages. - parking is very easy - it's located pretty close to the outlet mall and yummy Asian food, which makes for a perfect massage/food/shopping self care day Overall CONS: - Some of the massages I've had were great, and some were just okay. I wish there was more consistency but also I tend to be more picky when it comes to massage therapists, so maybe this is just a me problem. It took some trial and error, but eventually I did figure out which massage therapists worked best for me and my own needs (lots of shoulder and neck tension, TMJD), and now it's a great experience every time I visit The Now :) read more

I had been wanting to check out this place, and I finally got my chance. The location was easy to find, and there was plenty of parking available. My best friend and I arrived 25 minutes early. The reception area was clean, modern, and quite spacious. However, it was odd that there was only one bathroom, and no toilet seat covers were provided. This seemed a bit unsanitary, especially since it's a gender-neutral bathroom and is also located outside the massage area. We signed up for 80-minute massages, which cost $175 each. The massage therapist for my friend was on time, but mine arrived a few minutes late. There is a common seating area behind a large wooden sliding door, but neither of us had the chance to sit there. Instead, we were taken directly to our massage rooms, which were also the same rooms where we undressed. Each of us was provided with one basket and one hanger. My massage therapist spent a considerable amount of time being hands-off--fixing the sheets, preparing more oil, etc.--and her technique was not very fluid or smooth. It's important to note that your time starts the moment the therapist calls you, which includes the time it takes to undress and dress afterward. Overall, the massage was just okay; I didn't leave feeling fully satisfied nor was it a full 80 minutes. IMHO, I think Woodhouse Spa in Walnut Creek offers better service. read more

The massage "rooms" are completely open, separated by curtains. The "Ocean Sounds" are so loud you can't relax and the massage person while nice, was in and out of the room and not particularly good. Their contract policy is not clear. You can "cancel anytime". As long as you pay TWO months membership. I cancelled in person after my first massage, filled out the required form, explaining that I wasn't comfortable with open room concept at all and was told I'd get a confirming email. None ever came. Thankfully I took a picture of the form. I've been charged again and I went in today to get charges reversed and was told I would have to pay TWO months to quit. I talked with the manager Ari and asked for confirmation of cancellation by email, as well as contact for the owners. I was told she'd give me the district manager's contact. I haven't received confirmation of cancellation.This is a franchise, they have a dog care place in the same complex. I should have known better, I have gotten massage for 40 years and this place is just a slightly dressed up, more massage envy. My apologies the excellent, independent massage folks in town. Heard of this place from my SIL. I'm not a big massage person, but wow how this place has changed my mind and perspective. First off, very clean and minimalistic aesthetic. Very open, and doesn't look sketchy like other places when you look up massage. Front desk was very friendly and offered me water and cared about how I was feeling that day. My massage therapist was very caring and asked me questions to customize my experience to my needs. The massage itself was amazing. I found out about problem areas that I didn't know were problems till she got in there. Afterwards she explained why these areas hurt or don't hurt till you touch them, and it all sounded like a lot but very informative. She gave me recommendations for next time or stretching to do at home to help prevent certain muscles from hurting or over working. This place is truly amazing. I have had 3 massages from Sarah at Now Massage in Livermore. I am a former professional massage therapist (well 25 years ago), and I get massages regularly, and I like to try new places. Sarah is one of the best masseuses I have ever had and that includes about 30 years of getting professional massages from all over California and beyond. Her pacing, pressure, multitude of techniques, knowlege, professionalism, and most of all her sensitivity, is phenomanal! She has a very special gift. I suspect others of their staff may be quite talented as well, but for now I'm sticking with Sarah. I also like the atmosphere at Now, it is hard to describe, but lots of fabric and low lighting and very inviting. And the staff there are very friendly, professional, and respectful. We had a fantastic time at The NOW! I was blown away by the cleanliness and serenity of the spa. It's been a while since I've been to such a nice spa, and this was definitely needed in the tri-valley! They have 3 different types of massages - the now, the healer, and the stretch. They also have plenty of add ons such as gua sha, scalp massage, deep tissue, etc. I did the now massage and my husband did the stretch with deep tissue. Both were wonderful. Our masseuses were Kayla and Sandra and they were both very professional and friendly. They kept checking in how the massage was going, pressure, any specific needs. Our massages were great! The rooms are set up in "cabana style" with drapes rather than doors, which is pretty cool. They have a no phone/talking policy once you enter the massage area. I really appreciated that because sometimes you'll go for a massage and the masseuses will be talking to each other or other guests are talking loudly and it distracts from the relaxation. The staff does a great job at maintaining the tranquility of the spa. Overall we loved it and will be back again soon! read more
