Wow! We really enjoyed our time here, and the staff could not be anymore accommodating. I called the same day that I was looking to schedule an appointment, and had to shift it around multiple times, even right up to the point of the appointment. I'm grateful that I was able to get into their schedule. We did the Fall Special that consisted of a 30 minute foot massage and 60 minute Swedish massage. Both massage therapists were wonderful. They provided the perfect amount of pressure and met us outside our door with water. The ambience of both rooms (one for the foot massage and the other for the body massage) was perfect; dim lights, so quiet and quiet music. Located in the downtown area of Livermore, this massage parlor looks small from the outside, but is actually quite large. I received the Ashiatsu DeepFeet Bar Therapy, which is usually $80 but if it's your first time you get a $20 discount. The massage was about 65 minutes, done in a private room, and about 80% of it was applied using feet instead of hands. Don't worry, they make sure to clean their feet properly with an alcohol solution before massaging you. However, one thing I did not like is that somebody accidentally opened the door and it was left open in the last 15-20 minutes of the massage. I'm not sure if this was their standard practice... Every time I've been here it's been a spot on massage. It's not a super fancy spa, but it's priced well and they have very quiet massage rooms. You do have to ask to turn on the heat on the table, but they will if you ask. Also the foot massage doesnt have you flip over so no back massage involved (which is a bummer to me). It would be nice if the front area could be quieter for those enjoying foot massages, but again, it's not a super pricey place. Awesome service! Oh, my gosh. Best. Massage. Ever. My wife and I went in for a couple's massage special on Father's Day 2013. We added essential oils said to help with sore muscles (for my wife) and requested two women massage therapists. I don't have any serious aches and pains, so I can't speak for effectiveness in that regard. But it was seriously, ridiculously relaxing. The ambience gets 5 stars as well. The music was tranquil and unobtrusive--I remember classical, but my mind was drifting and there was probably a mix of genres. The decor was classy and clean with water sculptures and dark wood flooring. Oh, and the table: I'm a decently tall guy (6'2"), and some tables don't fit me well. The table at Relax Ave was comfortable head to toe. All in all there wasn't a part of the experience I didn't like. My only regret was that I didn't bring more for tips! read more

The girl at the front desk: soft spoken, hates her job, didn't ask how my massage was, didn't even say thank you after I paid-She seemed depressed, so sad. The 1-hr foot massage: If you've ever had the privilege of getting actual foot reflexology then you'll be sorely disappointed here. SAVE YOUR 30 bucks and go out to a nice meal. I basically received a soft lotion run down of my foot. I get a lot of foot massages at higher end places and my feet were aching and ready for the precise pressure and "squeezing" of the toes, ankles, etc. I asked the masseuse to up the pressure twice and not only did she not do it, she acted like I was asking for the moon and stars. I'm 5'5 and 110 pounds btw...the massage was 30 bucks and in this case the mantra "you get what you pay for" certainly holds true. I guess it's back to using my disposable income at actually skilled massage places. Ugh...my feet and ankles are saying "uh Mom, wth was that? We need release we need a foot massage". I'm writing this mostly on behalf of my boyfriend. I live around the area and my boyfriend often visits me here. He lives in San Francisco. One day, he asked if there were any good massage places around here and I looked it up on yelp. This place popped up and the reviews looked promising, so decided to give it a try. We both went in to get 30 min chair massages. They are open to walk-ins, so we were able to get the massages no problem. For me, I'm not a huge fan of massages in the first place, but the massage here was fine. As for my boyfriend, he really liked it and he said he felt great. After this, whenever he would visit me (which would be almost every weekend), he always wants to go back. He's had several massages here already (30 min chair massages) and he says this is his favorite place. And this is coming from someone who lives in the city, where I'm assuming there are very many spa/massage places! The service is always excellent. The entire place is so professional and really relaxing! Nice music is always playing, it always smells good, it's extremely clean, it's just a really place for a massage! I have been going here for awhile now and I highly recommend it if your looking for an inexpensive but still effective massage. I always ask for a female and each person is slightly different in their technique but they each tend to pay attention to my reactions and ask if the pressure they are applying is okay. Recently purchased 4 - 30 minute chair massage package. I got two very disappointing and two very good massages. I originally booked the massages because I just started working out again and my arms (esp. triceps) were very sore. On my first visit, I asked to pay special attention to my arms. Most of the time was spent on my neck and back and the female masseuse spent maybe 2 minutes per arm before returning to my back. I think she had very limited English so she may not have understood my request. On my second visit I asked for a different person and got James. He did a great job so I requested him on my third visit. Another great job. For my last visit, I just did a walk in and James wasn't available. So I just took who was available. My only instructions on this visit was that I like very firm massages. She looked confused, but then said "more pressure?". The chair that I had was incredibly squeaky. Not a huge deal. After spending a loooong time on my back, I was surprised when she told me my time was up when she hadn't touched my arms at all. I'm not sure if this was the same person who did my first massage. Very inconsistent. I think I'll find some place else to go next time. read more

Booked a deep tissue massage and it went ok, felt like the therapist could have done a bit more on the parts where were tight. I had an urgent call during the session and had to leave 10 mins early before the session ended. The therapist seemed very worried if I would leave a tip or not. She proceeded asking me if I wanted to tip her in cash or with the card. When I was at the cashier paying and the therapist was standing behind the receptionist telling her that I haven't paid the tip yet. They were speaking Chinese and i could understand it all. Just to be clear, out of courtesy, I always give gratuity for services provided to me but to ask the customer right off the bat, that just tacky and unprofessional. Got a foot massage and a couples massage here. Foot massages are good and the pressure is okay. As for the couples massage, we got the Swedish massage and it was nothing like a Swedish massage I've had before and I have had a lot! The masseuse's pressure was never enough even when I would tell her. I don't think she understood what I was telling. At the very end she decided to put all of her weight into the massage as she went up and down my SPINE. pretty sure that's not supposed to happen. I felt horrible afterwards as well as my husband. We left a 5% tip because I felt they did not deserve anymore but didn't want to not tip. And then the girl at the front asked for MORE in tips because they "worked very hard"... My husband purchased a gift card for a couples massage for Valentine's Day for $99. We redeemed the gift card last weekend and I won't be going back...ever. The salon was very clean. The receptionist asked if we had a preference for a female or male masseuse and I quickly responded a female. My reasoning being that I prefer a lighter massage and females tend to have weaker hands so you naturally get a weaker massage. My hubby and I discussed this before the appointment, but I didn't ask him to call back to clarify after he made the appointment. Big mistake. Interestingly the receptionist said they only had males...why ask then!?! So I conceded that a male would be fine. As expected the masseuse used too firm of a touch, I asked him to lighten up but that didn't seem to make a difference. I have issues asking a masseuse to lighten up throughout the entire massage so I lasted through it and take accountability for not stopping the massage completely. I am so sore that I haven't had a good night's sleep for the last six nights and cannot sleep on either side. This was by far the worst massage I've ever had. With that said, if you like a very, very, very firm massage (by a male) this is the place for you. read more

Relax Ave Day Spa is my go-to spot when I've had a stressful day, or I've been on my feet all day or my neck and shoulders are just protesting the fact that I've sat at my computer for 10 hours straight. I've been here about six times already and I love the fact that it's open 7 days a week 10-9:30. It's also brand new with great zen decor. I'm a bit of a massage snob...any ole back rub just won't do. But the massage therapists (Sam in particular) get right down to business and works out the deep knots in my neck and shoulder area. A 30 min chair massage is only $30 and I always leave feel less stressed. I would easily give up my Starbucks habit to have one of these every week! I've also tried the 60 minute foot massage and that is definately worth it! You sit in a comfy reclining chair and start with a foot soak for a few minutes while they massage your neck and shoulder. When I really want to relax I go for the 60 minute deep tissue massage. I've decided I'm taking my staff here for our next inspiration day...who wouldn't be more inspired after an hour foot massage! read more

Heaven on earth! I have never had a massage before so i had no clue what i was doing or getting myself into. The front desk is super helpful and super sweet. I had mentioned over the phone when I had called in to do a walk in instead of an appointment that I had a pinched nerve front desk was able to direct me in which massage I should get to help with the pain I was having in my neck. I ended up doing a 60 minute Swedish massage with a gentleman named Tom. He did an amazing job his touch was just enough pressure and strength to relieve the pain I was having. Not only did the massage help with the tension and pinched nerve but it also put me in a great mood after I left the salon. I will definitely be back for maintenance I really enjoyed my massage and the price is very decent. I don't know why I didn't do the sooner, five stars all over the board. I love massages. And somehow after many weak and relaxing massages, I thought it was time to "woman up" and not always request the "low level" of pain tolerance and ask for the weakest masseuse. They were very accommodating when I called to make a reservation. They were even more accommodating when I came over an hour early =) Yes, they still took me in. Plus! I had Jon, who was very nice. It was actually my first time getting a full body, clothes off massage from a man. I usually request a female if it's that type of massage, but it ended up working out fine. There was a blanket & towel between us for the most part, and it wasn't awkward at all. Jon was very professional, and I didn't get a beating. He made sure to check with me a few times whether the pressure was alright. He was also very attentive to double check again every time I made a slight movement (such as scratching my face). Be aware that the employees don't speak very good English; they speak Chinese. But who needs to talk that much anyway during a massage? Prices are very reasonable, and this place is very nice. Everything looked new, clean, and modern. The beds have heaters on them, and the music is soothing. Foot massages are outside, private rooms for body massages, and I saw a couples room as well. This was a first for my boyfriend and I. We have never, ever done anything like this before and the closest I've come is the occasional mani-pedi. We decided that we could both benefit from a nice, relaxing massage. We were a little nervous because, yeah, you're naked during a full-body Swedish massage, but the masseuses made us feel very relaxed so we were able to enjoy ourselves. My favorite part was when the hot towels came out. Holy heaven, that felt amazing! When we finished and the masseuses left the room, my boyfriend and I looked at each other and our immediate reaction to each other was "oooohhhhhhh, yyyyyeeeeeaaaahhhh!" We will DEFINITELY come back again! It's understandably a little expensive for us to do all the time, but it will most definitely be a treat for us every now and then. Perfect place to have your "me time" and pamper yourself. Their foot massages and Swedish massages are lovely. My fave masseuse is Lisa. Their ambiance is on point. My husband and I came here a few days ago for my birthday. When I started thinking about what I wanted to do for my birthday I thought about how people have told me that foot massage places are amazing. For not much money you can get a really relaxing massage. So I decided to try and find one near us in Livermore. I found Relax Ave on Yelp and liked the convenient location and great reviews. I went to their website to check their prices and noticed that they also offer full body massages at VERY reasonable prices. They even offered a coupon for a FREE 30 minute foot massage the week of your birthday. I was SOLD! I called and made an appointment for both me and my husband. I received a 90 minute deep tissue massage and my FREE 30 minute foot massage. My husband had a 30 minute foot massage and 90 minute Swedish massage. Our appointments were on a Wednesday at 11am. We found parking in the small lot next to the building. When we got inside I could tell the quality of the place was very nice. The décor was very clean and relaxing. When you enter there is a small closed room with a reception desk. We checked in and the lady walked us to our chairs for the foot massage. When we opened the doors from the reception room we walked into a small waiting area that was separated by a large curtain from the main foot massage room. It was very quiet, there was only one other person getting a foot massage. They sat us across the room from them, which was nice to still feel like we had privacy. They played very relaxing music. It sounded Chinese. The chairs were very comfortable. Because I was receiving a deep tissue massage my massage therapist was a male and my husband's was a woman. Bill and Alice. I highly recommend them! Bill was great at finding my knots and pressure points. He had strong hands, but very soft skin. They soak your feet first and massage your head. Then they massage your feet. It was so relaxing. The only thing I felt was missing was some sort of cover for my eyes. Either a sleep mask or cucumbers would have been amazing!! After the foot massage they guided us to the couple's massage room which was through another curtain into a hallway. There was a GORGEOUS and very large fountain in the hallway. There seemed to be a lot of massage rooms. I used the bathroom before my massage and was impressed with how clean and nice it looked. Very classy. The massage room had minimal décor, but that's not important when your sole purpose is to lay there and RELAX. Bill worked very hard on my massage. He used the perfect amount of pressure. [I prefer very firm massages, I like to feel sore, bruised and beaten the next day!] Although he did not make me feel pain at all during the service. He was able to find and work out all of my knots. He focused a lot on my back and arms. I'm a hairstylist so my back and arms hurt the worst [you would think it is my feet, but it is not] He also massaged my head, butt and legs. It was AMAZING! One of the best massages I've ever had. I focused a lot on my breathing and releasing tension throughout my body. I would find myself clenching my jaw or my hands. I felt like I was doing yoga or thai chi... emptying my mind, releasing tension and focusing on my breaths as he did his work. It was very zen. I was very impressed. I felt 3 inches taller after the massage. My posture was much improved. So much that I had to raise the rearview mirror in my car! I was relaxed. Not sore. Even the next few days I felt amazing. I'm actually glad that I don't feel bruised. Bill used the perfect amount of pressure. I am very happy with my massage. Had my first visit there on Mother's Day and I didn't care for it. The staff was unorganized. I prepaid a week before and they were asking me if I have a package or a gift card. They had 5 customers sitting and waiting. My masseuse was walking way in front of me as she led me to the room. She wasn't relaxing at all when she spoke. My massage - felt like I was getting a beating and I told her a couple of times when she asked me to lessen the pressure because it hurt and she kept going. I couldn't relax at all because it hurt so much. I realize I have knots but a massage should not hurt. Instead of rubbing oil on my back, she decided to take the bottle and pour oil straight from the bottle onto my back. read more

My wife & I were running errands on our day off. My wife had a coupon for $10.00 off. So we stopped off just to look over the business. Very nice, very clean, very unpretentious, next thing I know is we both try a chair massage. WOW, you don't get cheated, we both got a half hour massage that was deep, thorough, the back, shoulders, head [ahhh], neck, arms & hands. When Sam was done he had to gently tap my shoulders a couple times as I was deep into my [3rd eye] & awoke. First thing I said as I stood up was, FABULOUS. I was in such a relaxed daze, Sam had to gesture to remind me to get my hoodie. I was blown away & I will be back as often as possible as my work at our local Livermore business demands that I'm on my feet all day & I use my upper body a lot. Relax Ave Day Spa is a Godsend.
