Stopped here on a quick overnight trip to N.Adams. Renee herself was our waitress. She is so kind and takes a lot of pride in her restaurant. I ordered the country fried steak. Wow! It was delicious. The gravy was perfect. A lot of places have gravy that is too salty. Hers is just right. The homefries were yummy too! They were deep fried not griddle fried, so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was a nice morning, so we sat outside on the patio. Renee told us that dogs are allowed on the patio! We didn't have ours with us unfortunately. Everything was top notch. We will definitely be back when visiting N. Adams. read more

Currently staying at an Airbnb in Williamstown with my boyfriend. We woke up this morning hungry and looking for a good, close breakfast spot. Found Renee's on yelp at took the drive 8 minutes away. Small and quaint with a friendly, homely atmosphere. Waitress was nice, coffee was hot, but a little bland (no big deal, I've had worse!). The food however was great. Thoroughly enjoyed the bacon and how crispy and well cooked it was. I got the thick sliced French toast since it's always my go-to breakfast food. I'd love to have lunch here since they have my favorite, pastrami! read more

I went to MCLA and I graduated in 2018. Renee's is one of the things I miss most about being in North Adams. Renee is passionate and LOVES what she does and you can feel that in the whole place. I came here twice during my visit to North Adams. This place is amazing! This place was crowded on both days that we came for breakfast. The decor is simple, although a bit dated. The service was amazing, and we because "friends" with Renee who walked around often. The menu is very nice, with everything you need, all the basics, plus daily specials. Everything here is inexpensive. Their coffee and hot chocolate are amazing. I had got the Belgian waffles with blueberries, and then two eggs with bacon, home fries, and toast. The waffles were fresh and delicious. The blueberries were a nice additives. The eggs had so much taste. The home fries were excellent. The bacon was a bit overcooked, but it was still good. We had also got a full stack of pancakes, which were delicious. Very fluffy, not too dense, and as good as they get. We also got the corned beef hash with toast and home fries. This dish was amazing! While this diner is off the beaten path in a modest strip mall, there's a lot to recommend it. There's ample parking, and a good solid menu. We eat low-carb, and it was no problem getting a 3-egg cheese omelet, cooked well-done (to our specifications.) Only drawbacks: cash-only, limited hours and a very basic atmosphere. The biscuits and sausage gravy are MADE FROM SCRATCH. I live in the South, and I can't remember the last time I saw made-from-scratch sausage gravy at a diner--literally. The other five people in my party loved their food as well, and I really enjoyed the bites they shared with me. The only disappointing thing was a minor issue: I ordered the fresh fruit cup and am pretty sure it was pre-packaged and purchased from the supplier that way--not my definition of fresh, but the price and the listed fruits put me on notice that might be the case. The Mohawk Trail is a beautiful scenic drive in Massachusetts. I had visited before and decided to interrupt my drive (ultimately going to Maine) for a quick breakfast. Little did I know that Renee's Diner is also a place for spotting celebrities. Constance Schulman (Yoga Jones) of Orange is the New Black was there, together with some other lesser known (but not lesser talented I have been told) actresses. Gone were my wishes though for a quick breakfast and 30-45 minutes very quickly became 1.30hrs... Not sure how much the food suffered from the sudden rush, the excitement and the havoc but the bacon and the French toast of my Hungry Man breakfast (appropriately named I thought given my long drive from Philly) weren't entirely convincing. Perhaps not the most optimal moment to visit and if I ever pass through again I plan to give this place another chance but for now this is what it is... read more

Well, my wife and I were really looking forward to a great breakfast on our weekend away. This wasn't it. First of all, as far as I can tell, they don't serve corned beef hash. They serve "country hash", which was peppers, onions, potatoes and a dusting of corned beef bits covered in cheese that looks like it was thrown in the microwave, and then topped with eggs. The eggs weren't anything special - I would think that a breakfast place in the farm country of the Berkshires would have access to fresh eggs, but I suspect that they shop @ Big Y down the street. (BTW, I never heard of country hash before - I wonder if it's clever wording to get around the fact that the corned beef is not much more than decoration). My wife had pancakes, which were leaden, served with artificial maple syrup. Again, given their location, I wonder why they are serving that. This also was not a cheap breakfast - it was almost as expensive as 2Cats in Bar Harbor (which is worth every penny and then some), but not nearly as good as Denny's. read more

What a incredible surprise. We called to make sure they would be open by the time we arrived and they made us feel like family from that point on. I was impressed with both the incredible food and the wonderful staff. The owner made a point to welcome us, introduce her self and and find out a little about us. This is a real gem. We came through for a dive meet and from the second we walked in, Renee ushered us in and made us feel welcome in her restaurant. I tell you, there are not many other diners that make you as a costumer feel so comfortable. It is like the good old days are alive and well at Renee's. And the food? TO DIE FOR. I had black coffee, a cinnamon bun, and two eggs. The coffee was always filled to the brink of the cup. Someone in my party got the country-fried steak and it felt like we were in the Deep South and not in Western Mass. If you find yourself anywhere in a 30 mile radius, make the trip. This small, clean, comfortable restaurant exemplifies everything a great restaurant should be and the owner bills it as a diner! Yes, it serves diner/comfort food but everything is done exceedingly well. Outstanding attention to detail, excellent food made from scratch and attentive, even doting service make this place a treat. The restaurant would be easy to overlook due to its location but this would be a big mistake. Eat one meal here and witness the super friendly owner in action. She clearly cares more about her patrons' dining experiences than just about any proprietor I have ever encountered. A rotating variety of muffins are made fresh daily. Turkeys are roasted on site for something as mundane as an open faced turkey sandwich. I can't say enough good things about this owner and her special restaurant. Way overpriced for CHEAPLY MADE food...home fries are from a bag they throw in the frier, portions very small, bacon from a food service box thin as an apple peel, cheap frozen link sausage, frozen generic sweet potato fries, did I mention the tiny portions! If this meal cost us $20 I wouldn't be bitching...but it cost $40! WTF! Come on...it's like they don't even care about the food...how hard is it to prep a 10 pound bag of REAL potatoes, throw them on a flat top or pan with some oil, salt and pepper and cook them! Same with the bacon! Use REAL, thick bacon or take it off the menu! The owner/ manager argued with me when I told her there wasn't any bacon in my sorry excuse for a sizzle meat platter...I showed her and she finally brought out that crappy slice of apple peel bacon that she microwaved! I ate here with a group of friends after winter backpacking at the nearby Mt. Greylock State Reservation. Perhaps the reason I liked this place so much was because I was completely famished, but I also can't complain about the fast and incredibly friendly service, fairly generous portion sizes, and reasonable prices (~$7-12 per breakfast entree). The only complaint I have is that my eggs were cooked over easy instead of over hard, as I had ordered, but such a mishap is small beans compared to the great experience I had here. Solid place for breakfast. We had ham& eggs and a veggie omelet. Over-easy eggs were perfect, nice piece of ham and rye toast. The home fries were very regular cubes, and deep fried. I prefer hand cut, grilled, but the cook used a light touch on the fryer, so ok.. The veggie omlet was packed with, as you'd expect, veggies. Decent coffee. Went to Big Shirl's this morning for breakfast after finding them on Yelp. They make fantastic breakfast. They serve very tasty traditional fair like country fried steak and banana stuffed french toast. The ambiance is also very quaint. Small, rustic, charming. Not a fancy place with a lot of fuss. The only complaint would be that they only offered egg beaters and not egg whites. Egg whites are my favorite for breakfast as regular eggs can be very caloric. I agree with the last review. I met the owner of the restaurant who lived in our area for a couple of years. This is great little breakfast place located in the Berkshires. The service was outstanding and the staff exceptionally friendly. The food was wonderful with a nice selection. I overheard other customers complimenting the waitress, so we were not alone in our delight in this place. Since we went there during the summer, we sat outside and enjoyed the patio. Ordered the corn beef hash & eggs(which can be a bad choice in some places), happily I did, best hash & eggs I ever had. All served in a small frying pan with fresh little potatoes, fresh corn beef, peppers and onions diced small, you could see & taste the freshness.
