We recently wanted to replace a double French Door so we set up in-home consultations with three companies. The first company was overpriced and did not offer the French Door hinged screens we wanted. Our next consultation was with Renewal by Andersen of the Capital Region-South. Robert, the sales rep, promptly came to our house to give us an estimate and was very responsive to our concerns and desires. He was quick to provide us with a very reasonable estimate and was very easy to work with. RBA had the exact product we wanted, so we happily signed a contract with them. We cancelled the third consultation. An appointment was set for the measure tech (Tony?) to come out to lead test the door frame, and confirm the exact measurements needed for a quality build of a custom-sized door. We had a great time sitting out by the pool while he completed the paperwork (shh, don't tell anyone!). The next appointment was immediately scheduled with Dale, the install technician. I cannot tell you how professional Dale is - plus he completed the installation in a no-muss/no-fuss manner, and cleaned up the entire site in record time. The night of the installation, we noticed that there were a couple of missing screw cover plates (even though Dale had used all the plates that actually came with the door) and the door 3-lock latch mechanism seemed to be "off". I called Dale and he went out of his way through several phone calls with a Manager, Terry, who came back the very next day with additional cover plates and an entire new door latch locking plate - he mentioned this latch problem had only ever happened about 4 times over the years. He completed this fix in a completely professional manner, and the door now works great! Robert, Tony, Dale, and Terry went out of their way to make themselves available to answer questions that came up before and during and even after the installation process. Special thanks also to Karlen Murray, Customer Concierge, who provided us with her direct contact info should we have future needs or concerns. We are very happy that we made the decision to go with Renewal by Andersen and were quite pleased to work with everyone, who did a very professional job, were courteous, neat and efficient. Anderson windows are high priced, however after reading a number of reviews about a variety of other window companies I decided to bite the bullet and go for more guarantee of quality. I definitely could have gotten the job done cheaper but as I said I didn't want to take the chance and went for quality and experience first. I only scheduled Pella and Andersen to bid the job and chose Andersen. I was more impressed with a lot of the aspects of the composite double hung Andersen product and with the explanation of the experienced installation teams that would do the job. I was extremely pleased with the job. Installation was very professional and efficient. The installation team was on time worked very carefully and efficiently and cleaned up perfectly. They also pointed out that the method in which my siding had been installed allowed them to avoid removing the shutters for the new installation. They also helped to ensure that I received a credit for this in the installation cost. I am very pleased with the finished product. I see other negative comments on this site and I agree that it appears that the replacement window industry does have a lot of the used car sales feel to the experience. I did not like that aspect but it does not appear to be unique to Andersen. Overall could do without the used car sales experience but I am pleased with the final product. read more

I had all my windows and a patio door replaced and I was very pleased with the work that RBA did. My meeting with Lee, sales rep, was informative. He gave me all the options possible and listened to what I wanted. He was very honest and at no point did I feel pressure from him. He showed me samples, colors, designs, heat test, everything. I think I kept him longer than he wanted to be here as I asked a ton of questions. I thought if I'm going to be spending a substantial amount of money, I better know what I am buying. During the install, he took time out of his schedule to visit to make sure that everything was to my liking. I am very impressed with his service. When installation day came around, Robert and Lukas were timely, polite, and detail oriented. The work they did was superb. The windows and doors operate exactly as advertised. Everything fit well and have a very smooth operation. They showed me how to operate the windows and patio door and any special nuances with them. They covered my carpets, floors, furniture, and appliances with a tarp to prevent dust getting on them. When completed, they cleaned up after themselves and wiped everything up. Great installation guys. Overall, I am very happy with the product, sales, and installation. I would recommend them if you are considering new windows and doors. read more

We replaced several windows that had spontaneously cracked over the years (just one pane of a double pane window), plus a bay window in our bathroom. We had planned on getting several bids, but the sales rep, Chris, made a good case for going with RBA, so we decided to go with them without another bid. Our experience was great. We had to work through a couple of issues (I wanted a shelf in the bay window, which was not the usual; and the installation turned out to be more difficult than was originally anticipated), but both were resolved to our total satisfaction. The installation itself couldn't have been smoother or less painful for us. The team completed all the work in a day, much to our surprise. They were pleasant, professional, and made a couple of good suggestions that really improved the job, even though it added work for them. And as my wife noted, the house was cleaner when they left than when they arrived! We've only had the windows for a few days, so can't really say anything about durability, but they look great, and overall we're very pleased. read more

Every window and sliding glass door needed replacing in my home. I already had 23 year old fiberglass replacement windows that were decently energy efficient but they were a dark brown and were extremely thick with too much frame. They really detracted from the appearance of the house both inside and out.I was delighted that I could now get replacement windows that were white on the inside and a different color for the exterior and with a narrower profile. I also took the opportunity to change from all sliders to casement, awning, and picture which improved the look of my home, too. The work was done in two days as promised and the site was kept clean. I had some patching and painting on the inside on a few windows which I expected. The workmanship was very good and they showed up when they said they would. I'm very pleased with the results and now people say "wow" when they walk in. read more

If I could leave a zero I would. They were super happy to take my money but have not completed the job and it's been almost 2 years!!! They quality of craftsmanship stinks but what's absolutely the worst is their customer service! They did not use the right framing wood to begin with. They left some holes in the framing while others they put in wood filler, making it impossible to stain nicely (imagine dots all over the wood). They CAKED wood filler in areas where they did not cut it correctly to meet the other piece of wood. Uneven beveling. Awful Awful awful. There are holes left in my walls. They keep giving me lip service about coming to repair and fix. They have been out 3 times, never with the right materials and never to finish the job. They will not return my calls now. Fabulous experience. I have tried to repair my existing wood doors for years, putting off the inevitable replacement. Renewal by Anderson came out and estimated and priced the replacements, then sent a measuring estimator to confirm the details and then when the doors came in an excellent team came to do the installation. The installation required detail measuring and fitting to respond to different trims and threshold conditions. Everything was done expertly and efficiently. The team was on time, worked hard and quickly and protected our home and furniture from any damage and cleaned everything up in record time. We could not be happier. We are using our doors again and the doors are performing beautifully! We can already see a difference in insulation, and UV impacts. We should have done this sooner! Wonderful experience from start to finish! Yetta Rushford spent quite a bit of time explaining the ins and outs of the Anderson windows. We had lots of questions which he answered in great detail. We appreciated that and could see he was quite familiar with the products Anderson sells. We knew we had made the right choice when we ordered the windows. We also were able to take advantage of a very good sale. Installation was very smooth. The 3 person team (apparently longtime friends and co-workers) arrived on time in the morning and were done by noon. Neat and tidy! They worked well together, were very polite and friendly. They even resecured some of our shutter screws that were lose. We tipped them because they deserved it! Great product, great company. We made the right choice. read more

The initial meeting with Anderson Windows was conducted in a professional and friendly manner and included actual samples of their replacement window product line, w/ material types & colors, and their custom glazing products (UV filering, glare, etc). Installation day when very smoothly with a 4 man crew working all windows simultaneously -- which helped keep the entire job to the quoted 4 hours - and that included a quik home made pasta and spaghetti lunch we made for them. Prepping the interior by laying ground cloths under each window as well as the path(s) to the outside door. We have hired Renewal by Anderson several times, for pretty expensive jobs replacing the single pane sliding glass doors in our 1965 "modern house." As small issues arose, they have continued to service them with satisfaction. When windows and doors are replaced, often ugliness from the past is discovered and the technicians from Renewal by Anderson have pretty much done very good work. My experience differs from others because I knew pretty much what I wanted and everything was pretty straightforward. The only complaint that I have is that the trim on one door was a little crooked. Perhaps I dealt with different people in Maryland. read more

Everything cleaned up, all painting done well, follow up to fix minor things, etc. We had 30+ windows replace in a large house, some had to be custom, and all we done well. We love our windows, our gas & electric bill has been cut in half and the house is so quite. They are beautiful windows and happy that we made the choice. Other bids and companies we met with did not compare to the quality of Anderson and in the long run the price either. We had everything included in our cost so it was a turn-key proposal. Although the session with the salesman to review and understand the product was a bit long it was informative. Both my husband and I were present. We had numerous questions regarding the product and the cost estimates and asked the salesman to compare the advertised price in the newspaper and as offered by the salesman. Our windows look great and perform extremely well blocking the heat from the sun and reducing the noise from outside. Already planning the next phase. The installation crew did a great job installing the windows quickly, removing the old windows, and leaving all areas as they found them. read more

Great quality windows and doors. Yes there is a sales pitch but very few expensive products are sold without some sort of a sales presentation. You just have to know when to say enough. Either you had me at hello or please leave now. If you waited through the presentation even though you were not interested and then just wrote mean things on yelp then you really do know how to waste your time. I am 100% satisfied with the work that Renewal by Andersen did and am already noticing the difference the new windows make. I seldom have to turn on the A/C to cool my home even though it is ninety degrees outdoors. I did my research before buying new windows. You get what you pay for. Worked for eight hours to remove existing door and window and reframe the space for the new door window combination. Their woodworking and metal work was absolutely first rate.
