As stated by another reviewer, we have been long-time supporters of Window Man and have recommended them to others. That said, we had a couple windows that have lost their argon gas. Very cloudy and ugly. Contacted them about our "Lifetime" warranty and they said they would not honor it. Soooo what good is a warranty when signing it then? They said they are using another manufacturer and they simply cannot replace it now. Well that's not my fault. Their only suggestion was to pay for a glass company to fix it. Hey, how'bout if Window Man pays the glass company fix it and replace it? Unfortunately, our recent experience has been disappointing. One of the windows installed by Window Man developed a serious leak. Based on the assessment of both myself and a licensed contractor, the root cause was an installation defect. Photographs, videos, and the contractor's report confirmed improper installation. Since the repairs were completed, the leak has not returned despite several heavy rainstorms--eliminating other possible causes like roofing, gutters, or drainage issues. We contacted the company under their 10-year installation warranty, providing all documentation, including an invoice for $5,500 in repair costs. Despite this evidence, Window Man denied responsibility. Mistakes can happen, but what matters most is how a company stands behind its work. We are still hoping Window Man will honor its warranty and reputation by reimbursing the repair costs. Until then, I cannot recommend them with the same confidence I once had. read more

Had 18 windows installed by The Window Man and reported that the installation was lacking in quality. Just discovered an issue with one of the windows and reported this to Jon Schoenike. He told me if Sandy did not call before noon to let him know and he would get things moving. Did not receive the call so I sent an email. Still did not hear from anyone. Called to see what was happening only to find out Jon is now on vacation. Seems kind of difficult to get things moving if you are on vacation. Again poor customer service. I had a large project for my house. 33 builder grade vinyl windows to be replaced and removing and replacing 2 windows and a sliding door with a 4 panel sliding door. I was particular in what I wanted. Unlike most folks who replace their windows with vinyl, I wanted to go fiberglass with wood interior. I spoke to several window installers who sold Marvin windows and finally settled with the window man. From the beginning Nick, the sales rep, was always ready to answer questions and was not pushy in selling. He wanted to make sure I was an educator consumer and took his time to go through the Marvin line of windows and provide me options. I ended up doing a full tear out with Black Marvin windows and words cannot describe how well the project turned out. The Window Man sent their entire installs crew out for 5 days and they were an awesome group who knew what they were doing and took their time to make sure the windows and door. We had a storm door installed by The Window Man in 2020. The door itself is great but the screws they used to attach it to the door frame were way too short. A storm came through not long after it was installed, and because it never closed quite right, the wind blew it backward and pulled the screws out of the wood frame. They came out to fix it once - and used the same screws. They knew they were too short but "nothing we can do about it, we've told the manufacturer many times" the guy said. So buyer be ware: The warranty supposedly includes limited coverage for installation....but apparently, not really. I've called many times to get this resolved, to no avail. I replaced 18 windows in my home this year that were original Anderson windows from the 1985 construction. I interviewed 4 of the top local brand window vendor names/installers. A number of them had hard sales and/or would have required me to take out a second mortgage based on their extreme price quotes!! I was pleasantly surprised by the Window Man, products & pricing. Jeff came to my house, took measurements, and provided me with a variety of window options that I hadn't considered. I then went to their store, looked at their products and Jeff explained in more detail a number of the various product features and offerings. I went ahead with the purchase and very pleased I did. A work crew of about 6-7 men came to my house and installed the windows in less than a day. Mike and his crew put protective wrap on all the floorsto keep the area clean. The group was professional, regimented in their assignments, and courteous. Mike mentioned in passing during the install how much more quiet the (Marvin) windows would be vs what i had. I hadn't been aware of this feature however it is now like night/day from the sound dampening after install. Additionally, my upstairs bedrooms that got the brunt of the afternoon sun and felt like solariums are now so very comfortable with the the UVA /sun guard protection in the windows. Mike informed me that two of the windows had small measurement issues that didn't prevent install but would need a different size insert piece. He ordered it and within 3 weeks Window Man contacted me and they installed the right size piece within the next few days. The sales portion went well with Jeff Albert. We stayed in touch for months as I had difficulty getting other estimates because most required both responsible parties present for the presentation. The Windom Man matched another proposal plus added several other features. Upon signing the contract I was given an estimate of ten weeks for delivery. After fourteen weeks I stopped by to see what was happening. I was informed the windows were in however the door was undetermined. The next day I was called and given the impression the door was in and an installation date was established. Upon arrival for installation I was informed the door arrived the day before and the shudders were not. I was disappointed in this information as I would have waited for the shudders. The installation went well except for a repair that was not completed (painting). They informed me that they do not paint. This repair was made without my knowledge even though I was on-site. I also had issues with the seams on the trim work for the windows. I was given the impression that they would correct before leaving. They left without correcting. The last issue for the install was an incorrect screen was delivered. I contacted the Window Man about the seams and they said they would correct when they installed the shudders. I was given a date for the delivery of the shudders. This date was missed with no contact. A week later we schedule a date for the installation of the shudders. The shudders were installed and the seams were repaired. However, the screen was not delivered. Two months later and I am still waiting for the replacement screen. read more

My only regret is that I wish I had ordered an awning window in the kitchen (in case of rain) rather than a regular one (casement) :( When one of the crew pointed that out, I realized he was absolutely right. I originally worked with The Window Man in 2013 to replace the original builder-grade windows in my 2003 townhouse, and I was very happy with the Marvin Infinity windows and the install. The amount of heat that the windows blocked on my south-facing rooms was unbelievable. My AC actually could keep up! When my old front door would no longer open easily due to water intrusion and rot, I contacted their sales rep that I had worked with previously (Jon Schoenike) regarding replacement of the front door, storm door, sidelights, and upper transom. Jon had great suggestions on glass tints, door color, and worked within my budget. The installation in May 2023 went smoothly, and I am super thrilled with the end result -- it looks fantastic and Jon's suggestions really make the front entrance look nicer. I also wanted to replace the original sliding glass patio door and transom that leads to my deck, which of course was not standard sized. I sent pre-drywall photos to Jon and his installer, and they determined that i did not need a very costly, special-order patio door because there was adequate space before the door header to fit a standard size but taller sliding glass door. Seriously, super helpful customer service. The installation occurred in August 2023, and the 2-man team was professional, friendly, and did a superb job as expected. The new patio door has more glass area and makes my house look bigger, brighter, and airy -- i love it! About 15 years ago we got Mon-Ray replacement storm windows from the Window Man. We've had no problems at all since then, and everyone at The Window Man was very helpful. Recently we wanted to expand an existing window in the walk out basement for more sunlight. This required cutting a hole through a 1946 brick and cinder block exterior wall. We needed a mason to cut the hole, Window Man to install the window, then a finish carpenter for the interior. It took a lot of measuring, planning, and scheduling and Jon walked us through the whole process. We only bought 1 window but Jon and Sandi treated us like we bought 20. We've got a few more windows to replace or expand and will definitely buy from The Window Man again. We paid a little extra for the "invisible" screen, or whatever it's called. I contracted with the Window Man to replace our front door and sidelights. Cost was $11,400 of which I paid $6000 upfront, balance after installation. Door installed July 24, 2020. That afternoon I received a bill for the balance, which I paid July 28, and which was a terrible mistake. The same day I paid the balance, and just 4 days after installation, the door developed a terrible groan, so loud and unpleasant the door was unusable. I contacted Window Man via email- no response. A week later I emailed again. This time I received a response, and finally a team examined the door August 31, and yes, you have a problem. I offered to pay for the new hinges at my own expense. My only recourse now is litigation, naming both the Window Man and ProVia as defendants. We will install new windows in our home next spring, but we won't hire the Window Man. I recommend that hire another firm for work to your home. read more

In conversations with others who have had experience with this company and subsequently reading more in depth reviews on Yelp, Angi's list and Google it seems they do not have time for a "small" project like an entry door. We just had all the original windows replaced in our 1965 Alexandria townhouse by The Window Man. Ham gave us a quote for Marvin double hung windows. The price was very reasonable. The windows came in faster than expected. We delayed the installation because of the pandemic and they could not have been more flexible and accommodating. We just had the installation today and the crew was fabulous. They were fast - 11 windows in four hours, start to finish and left the house totally clean. The crew was very professional and courteous. Ham came by to check the job and make sure we were satisfied. Best of all, the windows look amazing! They are a huge improvement to the look of the house and having windows that are all easy to use and maintain is the best. We can't recommend replacing old windows, and definitely using The Window Man, enough. I scheduled an appointment for 1/13/18 to get a quote for several windows. One had been damaged so to make sure everything was even, I decided to replace all of the windows on my ground floor and possible the arch. I provided my name, phone number, address, and even the parking location and had an appointment booked with Ham. I even got a description of his car, to ensure he could fit into my parking space. Saturday arrives and no one shows up at 9 AM. I called at about 9:20 AM and was told I was not in the system and not on the schedule. The person who answered the phone had no explanation for this. If replacing 4 windows is not enough work, just tell the customer that and I would not have wasted my time setting an appointment and getting up early on a Saturday. No need to just not record the appointment. I can only imagine the type of work this company provides if they can't even come out for a quote. read more

It was a terrible experience. To be sure, it could have been worse: they did take responsibility for their numerous mistakes and they did finally finish the job. That said, I feel like they should practically have paid me in the end, it took so much work to get this done right. And it took 5 months. I had two storm doors installed: an extremely simple job. But their technician, Brian, kept showing up and only doing part of the job, or not having the correct equipment or parts. Three times we had an appointment for him to come back and redo, and he didn't show up at all. Even when I finally persuaded them to start sending a somewhat more competent employee to do the work, he ended up putting the handles of the two doors--which are right next to each other--at wildly different heights, making the whole job look freakish. I used these guys because they were well regarded on Angie's list, but from my experience they have serious coordination problems. Not sure if it was just the size of the job,but frankly they shouldn't take on smaller jobs if they are going to do a poor job with them. Later I noticed that all the fussing with the door handles meant that they left the inside of my door frame with giant holes that I will have to fill in and paint. They also left discarded door frame parts on the site, and I just had another window technician in for another job--not using Window man again--and he was amazed they didn't bother to use foam or caulking to cover the area between the door frame and the storm door to maximize sound reduction. read more

Terrible customer service. A salesperson came to my home, took measurements, educated me, and advised me to go to his office and see what many good windows really look like in person. I drove to the showroom, reviewed windows, and settled on X windows and I was promised to receive Y quote in 48 hrs. At least a week later, I received a quote, and I then countered asking for another manufacture. Then I never heard back from the salesperson. I'm not going to rant about other issues that were red flags during my experience, but I think the main issue is that if you are small potatoes (14 windows or less), you might want to look elsewhere so that you are a valued customer - even if you go Marvin, Pella, or Anderson. read more

We had The Window Man replace three old, partly broken storm windows in one bedroom. Originally we had considered total window replacement but after doing some informal research, learned that from an environmental perspective, adding good storm windows is usually more effective. This is because the air pocket between the regular window and storm window is larger than the air pocket between the two panes of double pane windows. Apparently it's the air that provides the main insulation, not the glass. So we called The Window Man and an estimate was quickly scheduled. "Ham" (Hamilton Smith) was professional, efficient, and no pressure. We briefly considered one other company but I felt that the quality of the MonRay storm windows sounded better than other brands, so we signed on with The Window Man. Ham had explained the whole process and it unfolded exactly as described. A technician came a few days after we signed the contract to take precise measurements. (We didn't have to be home for that.) Then there was a waiting period of 8-10 weeks, which I feared would be extended by some winter weather conditions, but I got the call that the windows were ready right at the eight week point. We scheduled the installation for a few days after that. (We did have to be home for the installation, even though they only came inside the house at the very end of the process.) Installing the three windows took less than two hours. They come with 10-year warranties on both the windows and the installation. And they are beautiful. They have narrow edges, so they don't block a lot of light or view. The screens are somehow made so that they're very see-through. Everything operates well. Most importantly, the bedroom switched from being very drafty to being very warm - it's a really dramatic difference and I'm certain is saving us heating costs. A final note: By chance a neighbor in an identical house had new storm windows installed by a different, smaller company at the same time. Their windows took longer to arrive, cost more per window, and required several follow-up visits to correct installation errors. read more

I went to The Window Man because they sell ProVia doors, which are pretty expensive but have a stronger steel gauge and other security features. The first salesperson with whom I interacted was nice and promptly served my husband and me. The second salesperson, however, could not answer any of my questions about the products and did not know how to use his computer. I ended up going to a different location of this business just so I could avoid this unhelpful salesperson. There, I ordered two entry doors and one storm door. The installers did a terrible job, with the knobs on the entry doors not being installed properly. One knob had a gap between it and the door because it was not screwed in the whole way. The other knob was not screwed in straight, so the door would not close. I pointed these problems out to the head installer (he should have noticed them!), and the installer then fixed the knobs. Afterward, for months, I was having trouble locking and unlocking the doors. The key would not fit in and turn. I contacted the store, and they sent someone out to fix the lock. Finally, my doors functioned properly. I enjoy the ProVia doors very much. They are a high quality and look nice. I am sort of split between giving 3 stars and 4 stars. The service at times was terrible with the one salesperson and installers, but some other salespeople valued me and provided excellent customer service, quickly and thoroughly addressing my needs. And I did end up getting my very nice doors. read more

the " correction crew " , attempted to address the many issues I had with my 4 new sliding doors ..the cheap , rippling, vinyl stripping along the interior framing was removed around the sliding doors and replaced with wood molding / framing...sooo much cleaner and solid ..the sloppy caulking / sealant was removed and replaced properly .. 1 of the 4 sliding screen doors had to be adjusted so there was not an 1 gap at the bottom of the door and it did not pop off the track ..screen door locks adjusted so they will lock properly , screws that were missing were installed one of the door locks , apparently , it was installed with 1 screw instead of the 2 required , as well adjusting the locks to make them operable . ...I was told the problem with the 1 sliding screen door popping off the track and the 1 inch gap at the bottom is from a design flaw ..that is odd because i have the exact same door in another spot and it DOES NOT have that problem at all ! .THAT RESPONSE WAS A COP OUT AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED . .I was also told by the installers that the 2 large sliding doors i purchased will never glide easily because they are BIG & HEAVY , that is unacceptible , why was I guided to those doors by the salesman IF THEY WERE NOT GOING TO FUNCTION WELL and WHY DOES MARVIN WINDOW CO. MANUFACTURE A DOOR THAT HAS FUNCTIONAL FLAWS FROM THE OUTSET ., THERE IS NO LONGEVITY OF USE HERE . I AM NOW DEALING WITH MARVIN WINDOW CORP. IN HOPES OF AN AMICABLE RESOLUTION TO THIS UNFORTUNATE SITUATION .. Overall this entire purchase has been extremely disappointing and frustrating to say the least .. I should not have had these issues with new installation to begin with ..one would assume a "walk through " by the installers would be completed to ensure the doors and windows were installed properly , and functional , before they left the job site .not leaving it up to me to have service people come out to remedy sloppy installation ( which took 6 weeks to orchestrate ,) not to mention using a day off to meet with these people . .in closing the guys who came to address the issues were expeditious and efficient in correcting the "cosmetic " issues for the most part . but basically did nothing to resolve the " functional " issues of the 2 large sliding doors or the sliding screen that still has a gap and still pops off the track ... .. also noted the salesman , Hamilton , also came by to appease my angst about the problems i am having ....he did present me with the " gift card " which i will consider a reimbursement for the heat register that was broken by one of the installers during the installtion of one of the windows . . read more

I cannot begin to recommend this window company high enough! So many companies say that they offer great customer service and stand behind their products, but if a problem occurs down the line, it's like pulling teeth trying to get their assistance. Not with the Windowman! I bought my house 14 months ago, knowing that the windows were original and would need to be replaced. Half of them didn't close properly, were rotted wood and super drafty. Soon after I moved into the house, I realized that I had water leaking in from the sliding glass door, something that the home inspector missed. I interviewed about 10 different companies and ended up going with the Windowman based on my neighbor's experience with them and how impressed I was by how much time they took to educate me on the difference between vinyl and fiberglass windows. I have to be honest that the fiberglass windows are more expensive, but they look much better than vinyl and have a lifetime warranty. You get what you pay for. I set a start date for the project in early fall, with the Windowman replacing not only the windows but the rotted sills. Once the project got underway and the siding removed, we realized that the whole back of my house was basically rotted away! The scope of the project was much bigger than just windows, and the Windowman helped me find a contractor who could fix the back of the house so we could install the windows. Long story short, the project took months longer than anticipated and the Windowman was fabulous about working with my schedule and coordinating with the contractor. Due to weather delays and other unforeseen issues, the Windowman made several trips. On the day some of the windows were installed, it started to rain halfway through the installation which could affect the spray foam they used. They came back another day to fix the insulation to make sure my house wasn't drafty. Unfortunately, stopping the water coming into the house through the sliding door wasn't an easy fix. After trying different caulking materials ect I still had water seeping in. Both the Windowman installers and the other contractor came out multiple times over the course of 7 months to try and fix the issue. Finally, Tom the owner of the Windowman came to my house and realized that the concrete slab which the sliding glass door sits on is unlevel and slightly slanted downward towards the house instead of away from the house. A level barely showed this and you can't tell by just looking at the door. At their own expense, the Windowman worked with a metal company to have a custom made "pan" that the entire 8 ft sliding door sits on, removed the door and reinstalled it. And it solved my water issue proven after a week straight of rain! The Windowman promised to solve the issue and they stood by their word and I am very grateful! Because I replaced 14 windows, a huge sliding glass door, an entry and storm door plus rebuilding the back of my house, I couldn't afford to do the front door (which is framed by 15 small windows - thus expensive!) this year but plan to do so next year. And I won't hesitate to use the Windowman once again! All my neighbors have said my windows look fabulous and I have recommended the Windowman to everyone. It's a rarity these days to find such excellent customer service and they truly care about their customers. read more

We contacted The Window Man to replace the windows on the front of our house. Our house faces south so we get direct sunlight on the front windows all day long. The rooms on the front of the house were always a lot hotter than the rest of the house. During the summer, the kids bedrooms in the front of the house were unbearable. In the winter you could feel the cold permeate through our old windows. The Window Man showed us several different windows to choose from and explained the pros and cons of each. We selected the Infinity from Marvin. When it came time to install the windows, The Window Man contacted us to set an installation date that was convenient for us. The day before the install date they contacted us again to remind us when the installers would arrive. The next day the installers arrived on time and got started immediately. The installers were polite and cleaned up after themselves. The new windows look great and they are easy to operate and clean. Beyond the looks and functionality of these windows, we could immediately feel the thermal benefits of our new windows. The rooms in the front of our house are much more comfortable now. Our baby no longer sweats during his mid-afternoon nap on sunny days and the kids don't need that extra blanket on those cold winter nights. The Window Man came out to do a quote. He was prompt and courteous. He took a look at my windows and suggested that I do not need to replace them, rather I can have them repaired. Prior to having the Window Man come out, I had another big company come out and advised me that they are not repairable and since their company can not match the almond color frames, that I should replace all the window instead. Window Man gave me a recommendation on a repair company and they came out and are able to repair it. He could've easily told me that I can't repair the glass and made money off of replacing them. So I'm in the middle on this one. I contemplated giving three stars, but our experience hasn't been A-Ok. We replaced the windows in our home back in December. Our experience with those was pretty good. Communication was lacking, our salesman isn't wonderful about returning our phone calls or getting us information, he was also lacking in the memory part of his salesmanship, but the windows were installed quickly and efficiently and we're happy with the product. Since we had a decent experience with that, we decided to use them again for a window we were replacing with a door. Again, communication was a bit lacking and a mistake was made on our order, which held things up (he didn't add in a fee, not my problem). We ordered the door back in May - it was FINALLY installed the end of August. Along with the door, we had ordered a retractable screen. Apparently we should have asked that it be installed along with the door because when they were done, there's no screen. I ask about it. The installer says, "Oh, that's done by the company that manufactures the screen." Huh, no one told us that. So, our installer gets on the phone, calls the office and tells them that the door is installed and it's ready for the screen. They tell him that they'll call us to let us know when the screen company will be out. Two weeks later, on a Friday, no call. I call the office and nothing had been done, they tell me they'll make contact and then give me a call back yet again. I did get this call from our salesman, only to tell me that the people from the screen company will be contacting me on Monday. Gee, big shocker, no call on Monday but I did get one late Tuesday afternoon, asking if they can come out and measure on Thursday morning. Measure?? It's a standard exterior door installation? This morning, screen company comes. Yep, you guessed it - we'll wait even longer because now, they apparently have to BUILD the screen and it'll be, in his words, "at least two weeks, maybe longer". Door ordered in May and our door installation will be finalized probably sometime mid October. Ridiculous. Do I like their product? Absolutely. But their customer service, communication and installation is lacking in far too many ways. As much as I'd like to say we'd use them again, it probably won't happen. read more
