Although the sweet non English speaking young lady did a very nice service on the 60 minute reflexology treatment they advertise on their outdoor sandwich sign for $29.00, when I expressed my thanks they asked me for $39.00 and told me the "owner" had changed "their" prices and the cost was raised as the sign was 10 years old and they forgot to change it!!! I'm not understanding this, Charlie massage was good but when it's about time to pay, I paid and didn't have much for tip and the woman at the cash register telling me how much I should tip, after I tipped her. That messed the whole experience. Why is that? The massage fees were paid, I'm talking about tipping? That rubbed me the wrong way. She was really telling me to tip half price of what I paid for. I went there so I can feel better because I had tension on my body but unfortunately they don't know what they're doing, the lady who was giving me the massage was so unwelcoming AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ended up HURTING me super bad, the massage was supposed to calm you down not hurt you, she was using her elbows on my back which REALLY HURT ME to the point that now I feel pain on my upper back and my legs because she was applying waaay too much pressure and just rubbing around with oil WITHOUT ANY TECHNIQUE WHATSOEVER. Then the WORST thing happened that I never experienced it before They DEMENTED a tip, I'm like WTF? , I always always tip people even in the supermarket because let's face it, we're not gonna get broke for tipping somebody 5 bucks but if that somebody 1.Is not welcoming 2.Doesn't even know what they're doing 3. Loved it! Clean and simple set up. Relaxing music. The pressure was nice and their technique is a mix of pressing, kneading, patting, in circular motion, straight ups and downs. I can feel my masseuse changing pressure and motions based on my muscle tension. The hot stone at the end was amazing, I've never had hot stone massage in a regular full body massage session. I have had 3 massages at Renewing Wellness and they have all been amazing! The space is very clean and relaxing with friendly staff. Each private room has a door with hooks and hangers to hang clothes. Despite being at a busy intersection on the corner of Houston and Varick, the spa was very quiet. Charlie is excellent with deep tissue massages finding stress and knots in places I didn't even know existed. I walked in twice with no wait, and once with an hour wait, but it was around 6 on a Thursday so to be expected. This deep tissue massage was the best massage I have ever had, much better than various resorts and upscale spas I have visited. The best part is the price was fantastic, $45/hour!!! This is about my second time back at the Massage place. After this Massage, I was left feeling unpleasant and ended up having to go see the doctor and also $200+ poorer. I had an appointment at 6:30 and had requested a female masseuse. So I was settled down into one of the rooms and began my Massage. And then half way into it a guy just comes in all of a sudden starts talking to the girl when I was half backless without notice. And then basically they told me someone had booked her for 7 and he was going to replace her for the remaining half hour. Well, I had also made an appointment for a female masseuse so why was his appointment more important and also when she was already halfway through it? I was reluctant but was left with no choice. And I was asked why I didn't want a male masseuse. Personal preference, do I have to explain? (I am female btw) Anyway, I was ok with the Massage until I felt like the dude was literally breaking the bones on my back, which is actually also one of the reasons I had preferred a female masseuse. Anyway, I didn't want to make a big deal out of it so just shook it off. Until I left the place and I felt like I had trouble breathing. And I couldn't sleep that evening. I was hoping it would get better the next day but it didn't. So after a second night of poor sleep, I decided I had to go see a doctor to make sure something wasn't really broken. And also bc I was traveling in 2 days. I am not of one to leave negative reviews and had really wanted to leave it on a positive note. And I wanted to get a Massage to relax, not create more problems for myself. But the bill costed me $200+ and the business should take responsibility. I am deciding if I'm going to file this complaint with groupon or someone else. read more

I've been to every cheap massage place in this area, and this is my new fave. Bonus points because it's so close to my apartment! The massage was EXCELLENT. They were able to take me right away at 5pm on a Sunday. It's brand new, so everything feels really clean. The cleanest + nicest bathroom I have seen in a spot like this. It was also really warm (not always the case, as a lot of these places are drafty) and each of the rooms are individual, rather than just being separated by sheets. They offer a card where you get 10 massages and one free. For $45 an hour, can't be beat! read more

Overall pretty good for a typical Chinese massage place. The only drawback is the location. You can hear the traffic on Varick Street honking to the Holland Tunnel. So that's not really necessarily their fault but it would be nice if it was a little more sound isolated. A good value definitely though. You could see erratically get 3 hours for $120. 120 minute body work is $90 and a 60 minutes foot rub fir $30. read more

So relaxing, very clean and nice and tranquil space, and incredible massage!
