We stepped onto wet carpets in the basement. No! Our drainline is backed up! We called Renstrom Plumbing. Chris and his crew came out on the same day. The crew cleared an obstruction then sent a camera through to survey the old drain pipe. It's no wonder our hedges were so healthy. There was a hole in the drain line to the City's main sewer line. (The drain water from the hole in the drain pipe was feeding the hedges!) Renstrom's Plumbing crew cut open the concrete, repaired the drain lines including a new vent on the sidewalk. A concrete Cement company came and sealed everything up. Great work! We would hire Renstrom Plumbing again! read more

Fast, friendly, reliable. I've been using Renstrom for years. After buying a home, you get to be on a first name basis with some companies. For me, it's Chris. He excels at diagnosing over the phone, saving me a lot of $$$. For example, had them install a fancy motion sensor kitchen faucet. Six months later it stops working. Called Chris. "Did you change the batteries"? Ah, no, I thought it ran on magic dust. This time my garbage disposal stopped working. Chris asks if it makes any sound. If it does it's clogged, if not, it's over, time for a replacement. So next day Alexey shows up right on time with my new Badger Insinkerator. Our 1940 built house sprung a leak! The kitchen faucet mounts straight out of the wall, not vertically from the sink! Back in the 90's, we had a commercial faucet installed, as commercial had the best fit for our old pipe set-up. The cylinders in the faucet have been giving out from old age, and the faucet dripping. We ordered new Moen parts, but they were in transit. Then ... the faucet wouldn't turn off! We had to turn off the water for the house. Renstrom came straight over. They couldn't find the part locally either! They installed the only faucet they could find that would fit our pipes. At least no drip and the faucet works! They came back the next day to fix our main turn off (which only turned off about 90% of the water flow since it was a 1940 valve!) with a modern 1/4 turn valve and to put in a turn off for the kitchen, and - our parts arrived, so they re-installed my wonderful commercial faucet! Renstrom Plumbing is friendly, hard working problem solvers, professional, prompt, all around a great company. They quote the price for the job before they start, so we knew the costs. My husband found Renstrom after we had flooding in the crawl space following the torrential rains past few weeks and the heating furnace stopped working after being submerged in water. Chris, who we spoke to on the phone was very empathetic and understanding. He asked the right questions and helped send the perfect team member for the job, with all the right equipment. Special kudos to John Walton, who came to our place and resolved all the issues in a matter of a couple hours. He identified the issue (which was essentially a built in sump pump failure that caused the flooding and stopped the heater), shared detailed insights and information on what needs to be done to resolve, provided guidance on the different options and did a thorough job installing a replacement. Not only that, he looked at the heater furnace, when that wasn't a part of our original ask to Renstrom and got it back to working smoothly! John definitely saved us a lot of headache dealing with other hvac contractors as we weren't sure if the furnace was going to work after being submerged in water for a while. We had some old vent pipes and a drainage pipe that were leaking. They gave us a quote, came, and did the work in 2 hours. They were very fast. Chris the owner was very responsive and came by himself. They cleaned it up great! That afternoon my sink was not working. I called. Chris let me know they would come by at no charge and as long as the clog got fixed with a snake there would be no charge. They came by at no charge and tired to snake it. It was not snakable. Jon diagnosed the area and took out the pipe and it was flowing again. It was completely blocked with rust and corrosion. What had happened was some of the corrosion from the other job got stuck further down in some severe corrosion. Chris gave us a discount and only charged for an hour of labor. It was a good deal. He even answered questions from me and my neighbor since it was an HOA expense. This is the second job I used them for and I would use them again. read more

We had a major plumbing failure in our 1900-built San Francisco home with the main sewage pipe being affected by tree roots and deterioration from age. Renstrom plumbers did an excellent job both diagnosing the problem and repairing it. They were very responsible and helpful. They also replaced our water heater and were able to install the new heater and fit it in a cramped space while adhering to code regulations - - something other plumbers were unable to do. Mr Renstrom was also very responsive to our needs to write-up our sewer line repairs with the details that our insurance company required to provide appropriate coverage. He pinpointed the problem immediately and provided me with a realistic timetable and estimate, outlining exactly what needed to be done (scope of work included replacing leaking old pipe behind the ceiling and an upholstered silk wall). Highly not recommend. The hot water in my apartment shower is not working. My building manager said I might have problem with the mixing valve. He referred 3 plumbers to me and I picked Renstrom cause Chris answered my phone. I told him the problem and he said the charge will be around $260 plus parts. He send someone over in next 2 days, came around 9am, removed the mixing valve, said he need to go buy the part, came back replaced it and somehow said my whole shower unit has failed. Even damaged the new part ($160). He forgot a tool and called another plumber to bring it over and help work on the job. Conclusion: Charged me 4.5 hr work ($605 labor) plus $160 part (they damaged it), total $765 for NOTHING done, not able to fix anything!! At that time, the plumber said they charge $750 to change a new shower unit, but minus $200 if I have them come back and do the job. I talked to Chris again and he quoted me $1150 (labor only) not $550 his plumber told me. I researched on Yelp and found another plumber, Aquastar. They came with 2 people and replaced a new unit (I bought the unit myself) for $600 in less than 3 hours. So I will not work with Renstrom again or refer them to any of friends. Not reliable and very expensive!! read more

This was by far the worst plumbing company I've ever used. The 10% off offer is not honored, so don't even bother. Chris bid one price, and his crew invoiced at a higher price. When I disputed, I was merely threatened to "pay up." Worse, several plumbing aspects of the job were done incorrectly and the company attempted to charge me more to fix the incorrectly done items. I consulted with other plumbers and the city, who said this was a completely weaselly practice. Steer clear of Renstrom Plumbing. read more
