We found out the hard way during the recent heavy rains that our sump pumps stopped working properly when we discovered that our basement had flooded. I called three plumbers who all came out to give us estimates. It was easy to schedule the visit for the estimate with Yazmin. Once we met with Mo, it was clear we were going with Alansi's. He was thorough, pointed out some deficiencies with the way the previous sump pumps were installed, and explained to us the work we needed to get done. He also answered our questions in terms we understood and with a good attitude. The estimate also came out to be almost exactly the same as that of another plumbing company that is highly rated on Yelp. But the plumber sent by that company could not have been more apathetic or disinterested in our issues or our questions, and that made us nervous about the quality of work he would do. Mo went above and beyond by squeezing us in on his schedule to make sure that our pumps were installed before the next round of storms. He and his assistant worked steadily for several hours and tested everything thoroughly before they left. We will definitely call Alansi's again in the future for any plumbing needs. read more

This is a busy time of year and I had a fairly basic set of tasks that a handy person could probably do themselves. I'm not handy. My cousin who is a real estate agent recommended them and they responded asking for us to send photos of the issues with a description of the problems. An appointment was scheduled for two days later with a timeframe of arrival from 1-3. They called around 1:30 to say they'd be arriving around 2. Ivan showed up wearing a mask and booties. During a recent very heavy rain, we discovered that our garage and basement area had several inches of water. We called Alansi's after hours and they immediately called back. They were able to get someone to our house in an hour to unclog the sewer line and remove the standing water. Alansi's has been our go-to plumber since 2011, and they have done a variety of jobs in our owner-occupied duplex: repairing older water heaters and toilets; installing new water heaters; repairing and replacing toilets and kitchen faucets; unclogging bathroom and sink drains; replacing garbage disposals; and repairing leaks. We've been using Alansi's for our plumbing needs since 2015-first in San Francisco and now in Berkeley. This week Omar came out and added a dual-valve shut off under our kitchen sink, installed a water purifier, and replaced the leaking hot and cold water valves in our laundry room. He told us ahead of time what he was going to do, gave us estimates, protected our hardwood floors, and got to work. Our house was built in the early 1900s and then gutted and rebuilt after a fire in 1996 so there are lots of surprises (and shortcuts) when it comes to some of the past work. Under the sink, the pipe he needed to cut to install the dual-valve shut off (so that we could turn off our dishwasher in case of an emergency without having to turn off the water to the sink) was too close to the cabinet wall. He expertly removed the cabinet wall, made the repair, and then fitted a board to close back up the wall. He had to cut out an old box and put in a new box in the laundry room. To do this some of the sheet rock needed to be removed. He told us and gave us the option to leave the pipes exposed as the plumbers don't do Sheetrock work. Knowing someone would be finishing the space he could have just opened a great big hole. Omar made clean cuts so that patching will be a simple DIY job. Absolutely love that Omar told us what to expect, gave us options when what was in the wall didn't match, completed the work we needed in a timely manner, and left the work area spotless. read more

I contacted Alansi's plumbing because my hot water heater stopped working. I tried to re-light the pilot light on my own with no success so I figured there was a major problem. The owner called me back and walked me through step by step how to do a proper relight of the pilot. On the last try it fired right up! I appreciate them taking my call and helping me troubleshoot the problem as it saved me some money. Old buildings such as our Edwardian in San Francisco are full of charm but they can also present plumbing nightmares! We experienced one recently when the 100+ year old main bathroom pipes in the upstairs unit started leaking into my downstairs unit. Our usual plumber was not available. What to do? Turning to Yelp, Alansi's' Plumbing checked out with excellent reviews and comments about fair prices. So we hired them. I want to second other positive comments and especially thank Khaled who managed the job (with support from Mo the second day). The company responded promptly to our call for help and Khaled arrived to start the job less than an hour later. He quickly identified the problem and went about the multiple steps to replace the leaking pipe after removing the sheet rock in the upstairs and downstairs units. This turned out to be a time consuming two day job. Khaled was courteous, clear in explaining his work process, dedicated to completing the job in a timely manner and very clean in managing every stage of the job. Mo and team were great! We had to replace pipes under the sidewalk leading up to the house. Because it was an unexpected expense and I wanted the other home owner to go in with us, I reached out to six different plumbers. My instincts were that Mo was the smartest and his pricing the most fair. I was right. Mo stayed in communication with us throughout the process (you can't predict the weather and can't pour concrete in the rain). Additionally, he was very thorough with safety precautions as part of the sidewalk had to be blocked. I was busy at work and he locked everything up when they left daily. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL - Apparently Some Customers Are Not Good Enough Alansi gave me a verbal estimate for a laundry sink install. It took them over a week and many phone calls to get a final written quote. The final bid said extending the dryer gas line and installing a faucet was suddenly optional work (more $$$), which was not "optional" in person. I called the contractor who agreed the gas line should have been included but not the faucet because we didn't "explicitly" discuss it. I said, umm, of course anyone installing a sink assumes it includes a faucet install! Yes, my issue was drainage but if I'm buying a new utility sink I'd expect a faucet installed and not just an empty tub! Apparently this common sense perspective was unpersuasive and he said the manager would call. An hour later I get an email back (see photos) saying they don't want my business because I'm changing the terms (not true). I called them back and let's just say it's clear there is something they don't like about me as a customer. It seems to be going around these days. The whole experience was demeaning and very unprofessional. Keep in mind, they didn't come back and say "Hey, it looks like there is some miscommunication about the faucet install. It will cost an additional X to do it." That would've been reasonable. Instead, they just told me to shove off. From other reviews it looks like they do good work, if they approve of you as a customer. Well I didn't pass the test, so I'll never know. Food for thought when you select your next plumber. UPDATE: The owner called the next day and left a voicemail hoping I would delete this review. When I didn't, he left his comment below. With regard to his comments. 1-We did not do any work for you. Yes, that's true - I never said you did. This review is based on your treatment of me as a prospective customer and misleading me on the quote. 2-You did not agree to the contract price. Yes, you are absolutely right because any normal person getting a sink installed assumes that includes installing a faucet. 3 -you did not want to resolve discrepancy but rather argued how the additional work should have been included in the bid. See #2 above. Also, I would have loved to resolve the discrepancy but you decided that sinks don't need faucets and I was trying to fleece you. Instead of offering me an updated quote, you just told me to shove it. Good luck to your other customers. 4-You had been rude on the phone and raising you voice. Well I wasn't happy spending weeks to track you down only to find out that Alansi sinks don't come with faucets and when I raised this issue, you dropped me like a bad habit! 5-you made threats to write bad reviews. Absolutely because you have horrible customer service and you don't think installing a sink includes a faucet. Finally, I don't think I'm out of bounds trying to find the best plumber at the lowest price. If it hurts your feelings to discuss/negotiate pricing, perhaps you should find a new line of work. read more

Other companies will make excuses for the problem and try to charge you more, not Alansi's they are honest and loyal to your plumbing needs. We were trying to get a refrigerator delivered but found out that our valve was broken and needed a plumber to come ASAP. Alansi was amazing, even helped identify the problem through pictures, so we were able to figure out what was happening--something a lot of plumbers won't do over the phone, and instead will say "they can't give you a price/diagnosis unless they're on scene, but there's a $$ charge to go out and inspect it" They were even able to schedule us an appointment within the hour! Amazing service and customer service! The young lady who answers the calls (jasmine I believe- if I'm wrong sorry!!) is so kind and very helpful. Literally had someone out to my house within the hour! Dante arrived so fast and was so sweet to my three year old who was just peppering him with questions and wanting him to play. Dante is one solid, solid dude. Dante fixed my leaking shower head and saved me from yet another ginormous water bill yay! Dante unclogged my basement drain which had mysteriously stopped working. The culprit- a wee toddler sock!! Dante is outstanding. He was super patient, kind and engaging with my three year old, Dante arrived so fast and was so professional and fixed all our plumbing problems in the blink of an eye. The reason we're giving it 3 stars is because Yahia and Mo deserved 5 stars when, a couple years ago, they installed a water heater. Last year, they diagnosed a leak and repaired the pipes that caused the leaking from a bathroom shower. (Earlier, another plumbing company mis-diagnosed the problem and quoted us an astronomical fee.) So when we had a kitchen sink problem we immediately called them (they gave us two numbers). I left messages and no call back. A couple days later, I called again on both numbers. Again no response. I tried their website: not up. Is everything OK? We miss you. read more

I used Alansi's Plumbing to fix a gas leak in the garage identified by PG&E. Of the three plumbers I contacted, Alansi's was able to help fix the problem. Ivan bought replacement parts, and was familiar with turning on and off the gas lines and the water heaters. He also had a meter that help reconfirm and identify the leak before he started and after to make sure the leak was fixed. All in all in took 3 hours to pick up parts and repair the leak. Yaz at the office was also helpful in scheduling and getting me the quote and invoice for my files. I will use them again for future plumbing issues. read more

Noe was awesome! Not only did he make it out the morning after our hot water heater broke, he was also able to install a new one that day. Sadly that heater was defective but he took the time to nag the manufacturer until they allowed him to exchange it for us. These have been our "go to" plumbing guys for years now. Just wanted to give a shout out to Mo on the great job he did on fixing our drains and sewer lines. It started with our dishwasher backing up that led to snaking out the kitchen drain. This then caused sewage to come up in our downstairs bathroom. It turned out our main sewer line was clogged that Mo quickly diagnosed. He snaked out our main sewer line and got us up an running again. Discovered all our 20 year old plumbing shut off valves in the bathrooms were no longer working correctly. Mo did a great job of installing all new ones, better quality and very fast. It was a building-wide water shutoff so other neighbors asked for some help and he nicely advised or took more work. And then he tightened and. cleaned out my sink fixtures.
