It didn't have the fuel efficiency if a compact car and it was much larger than I expected. The window visibility was lacking so I returned it. The clerk said my only other choice was a Kio with a boxy build. It was actually a compact SUV but I snatched it as it was better than the first car in many ways. Well, I can't complain too much since I only paid $40/ day but it wasn't fuel efficient.

Side note: uber/lyft round trip for us would have costed us the same price of the rental if not more, we were able to skip the valet fees at the resort, take the tour as long as we want and just loved this setup. I have traveled a lot for work/pleasure and know how to navigate rental car agencies pretty well. Every once in a while they get one over me, especially recent with the electric vehicle push. I also almost always avoid off airport rentals as a rule. Given the price and the glowing reviews I thought I would give Lucky Owl a shot. I'm very glad I did. The pickup process was super easy, just walked across the street from the southwest baggage claim where the pickup spot #4 was designated. Made the call and they were there rather quick. At the counter there was no sales push or tactics, they just verified my ID and CC then handed me the keys. Their rules were clearly laid out next to the window. They took photos of the cars condition and encouraged me to do the same. I also received the exact car stated on my reservation. No issues with the car for the 2 weeks we were there. Someone mentioned you blend in with their cars as a local, I don't know how but it did feel that way, hahaha. I especially liked the rubber floor mats which made cleaning easy. My one recommendation would be a trunk/hatch rubber mat. I know they are much harder to come by, but it would help with sandy beach gear. Speaking of, they even offer to rent beach gear! My airbnb came with some, but its great to know for next time. Drop off was just as easy as pickup. Their rental terms mention excess sand has a fee and there is a Texaco close to their location with vacuums. I wasn't sure if we had reached the "excess" level but why not treat the car with respect and clean up after yourself since Lucky Owl treated us well. When I got back they took a couple photos of the condition just like the pickup and had the shuttle ready to take me to the airport. No question I will be renting from here again next time in Oahu! They also have some friendly cats to greet you.

The lines have gotten longer and longer, which initially led me to start exploring other rental companies. For this trip, I ended up shopping based on price and was surprised to find Budget's rates were no longer significantly cheaper than the competition. I reserved a Toyota Camry or similar, only to be offered a Nissan Maxima or Chevy Malibu upon arrival. When I asked about the Camry, the agent told me that Budget doesn't carry Toyota vehicles. That response left me confused--if that's the case, why are Toyota models featured on the website? I understand that specific vehicles aren't guaranteed, but advertising vehicles you don't even carry seems misleading. The bigger disappointment was the condition of the car. While it looked clean from the outside, the interior told a different story. There was trash under the seats, mud in the trunk, and dust across the dashboard. It was obvious that little to no attention had been given to cleaning the inside of the vehicle before it was rented out. Everyone can have an off day, but this experience felt more like a lack of pride in the product being delivered to customers. With pricing now comparable to other rental agencies and service quality declining, I'll be taking my business elsewhere on future visits to Oahu.

When you arrive to the airport, you'll have to hop on a shuttle that will take you to the rental car center. Once we got there, we got in line to check-in for our car. Once you are checked in, they'll give you a spot number which has your car. This line moved pretty quick. However when we got to our car, we noticed that the seats wouldn't fold down, which was an issue for us because we had our golf clubs and needed the extra room. We went back to service counter near where the cars were and they were able to switch us into a bigger Jeep at no extra cost. It took a little bit of time as there were a lot of people in line here but it was well worth the wait. The new 2026 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was such a nice drive and was easy to navigate while driving. Definitely a car worth getting especially if you have some bigger pieces of luggage. Drop off was a breeze and everything went as smooth as one could want for a car rental. I wouldn't hesitate renting from Budget again.

Not only is this rental car much closer to the Cutter Dodge dealership, but the service was OUTSTANDING!!!! Upon walking into the rental car agency, the friendly clerk greeted me & processed my rental within 5 minutes. I was totally stunned at how efficient she did this, and upon having me sign a few electronic papers, she then told me to go into an elevator & head up to the "L' floor of the garage. Upon heading up to the "L" floor (or top floor of the garage), another clerk had my vehicle ready, and upon doing a quick look around the vehicle, I just jumped in, and took off. Easy peasy my friends!!! When I returned the rental today, I didn't even need to go into the Enterprise office, as the clerk who processed my eental vehicle return in the garage, did all of the closing of the tab. To top it off, the staff even gave me a ride back to the Cutter Dodge dealership! There's something to be said of great service.........that's how you keep loyal customers! Easy pick up and return. Their cars are on the lower level of Ala Moana Center. They will escort you to the car when you pick up. At drop off, park at the designated parking spots, take the keys to the office and they will check the car out while you wait in the office. Definitely using them again!

It's located upstairs in the parking garage adjacent to the airport (very convenient). The car itself was in mint condition, clean and practically smelled brand new! Plenty of legroom and luggage space. We definitely felt like we were driving in style around the island! So thankful to SIXT and their staff for kickstarting our vacation on a happy note! He came out of nowhere to tell me, aggressively, why they need to check an id that had been scanned multiple times previously. I don't understand what even happened! Because I was confused and upset about being wrongfully attacked, I asked him to clarify his accusation. He escalated by repeatedly telling me, "you can't even admit that you said it" and I said, yes, because I don't ! He would not engage with me or my husband in coming to a meaningful understanding. My husband and two teenage children both said they did not hear me say this and came to my defense. He would not admit he could have misheard. He shut me down and repeated that I was denying it and that I couldn't admit that I "cursed" at his employee. He ended with sarcastically saying, "why don't you leave and enjoy your vacation." I don't say the word crap, because it's a crap curse word. I use better, more adult curse words. If I was frustrated, the room would know. What manager is trained to escalate? This person should not be in a front facing position. I'm kinda floored that he chooses to be in customer service, because if he is starting g a fight with a not that annoyed middle aged lady, how does he handle an enraged man? I doubt he would have had this interaction with a man. I wasn't even mad, it came out of nowhere I think he must have heard my kids or another customer say something 'cause it's not what happened and my whole family was witness. My insurance company set up the rental authorizations and I have never had any problems during the rental process. The first time I rented, my Hyundai was being repaired out in Waipio. My Enterprise rental car was waiting for me at the repair shop when I arrived to drop off my car, and the agent had me sign papers there, so it was very convenient. Upon return, they told me to just leave the car at the Tony Hyundai Collision Center when I picked up my repaired vehicle. How great is that !! The second time, another vehicle was repaired at Nakamura Body in Moiliili and I got picked up and taken to the 1221 Kapiolani Blvd Enterprise location. This was my least favorite Enterprise branch because although in a convenient location near Ala Moana Center, the actual return spot is on the 7th or 8th floor of the Blackfield Building parking structure. As I drove up in the long oval lot, I realized I had forgotten to refill the gas tank so had to go back down, fill up, and then drive all the way up again to return the car. During my last rental through Enterprise, I was driven from Unibody on Mapunapuna St. to the Enterprise branch on Nimitz Hwy. when I went to return the rental car, I was driven back to Unibody to pick up my repaired Tesla. Each time I rented a vehicle, the Enterprise agent maxed out what my insurance carrier was providing as a daily credit, which I appreciated. The drivers who picked me up and dropped me off were prompt and efficient. Enterprise agents were also thorough and efficient in getting the paperwork done. Five star service !!
