This his one of those places that all the parking is in the back, and it looks empty in front. Don't let that fool you. The "front" door is in the back with the large parking area. There are peacocks and peahens in the back, so it can be an experience for the kids. Even they are tired of looking at the walls in the house/apartment. The interior is very large, so, you can fit in a large group of your friends. There is beer and wine for your taste - a large area is on the far side of the rooms, so there is a large variety for your taste (also for you to take home. Seat your self, and peruse the large menu. Fish, shrimp, crawdads in season and it is all cooked very well - fries of course, are part of the menu. Check out the ceiling in this place, it is unique! I've been here a few times with friends who live in the area. I get that it's a local institution and folks have an emotional attachment to it. I do not. So if I offend anyone who has such a relationship with it, I apologize. When the place is busy service is slow, inattentive and haphazard. We joined a couple friends who had already ordered and had their crawfish. After finally flagging down a waitress who didn't notice us sit down she seemed aggravated that we were there and left before taking everyone's orders. Then things came out bit by bit. I get they were busy but still...go at an off time and it's much better and the food comes out all together. I was hoping to get some crawfish. I was very glad I tasted my friend's before I ordered a couple pounds. They were W-A-Y too hot. Don't get me wrong, I like a little spice. But when you can't feel your lips after just a couple someone has been heavy handed with the spice. The boudin balls were terrific and the boiled shrimp app is always good. The froglegs are good and the green beans are usually really tasty. I have always liked their fried pickles. The beer is cold and I would have had more than one had the waitress every come back to check on us. If you sit in the big back room do not expect to be able to hear anyone at your table. It gets loud and louder as people pack in. There is a patio on the back too. It never seems too loud but it doesn't have a lot of seating. Be sure to go out back and check out the peacocks and hens in the cage. The kids will love that. Parking can get crazy when the lot fills up with trucks. And don't be surprised if you get trapped in by double parkers. You pay at the register. Just go up and tell her your name and they'll ring it up. Look, it's lots of fried fish and cold beer. We found this little gem through Yelp. It was great! Started out with onion rings and some sort of shrimp appetizer and really enjoyed it. We were in the mood for fried food that day and had all sorts including alligator, frog legs and catfish. Ended with chocolate meringue pie and loved it. Took some pie home to my mom. If you're out in the middle of BFE, check this place out. It would definitely fit in the "hole in the wall" category, but the crawfish are actually pretty good...they're not the best I've ever had then again, I am from New Orleans. From what I understand, Repka's is the only place around (this area) to get crawfish, which could explain the crazy wait times. Service was good. We ended up moving outside because our party grew and there are big tables out back. It worked out because that place was freaking HOT inside and it was cold out that day. We asked what was going on with Repkas trying to bake everyone like potatoes and our server said it was because of the amount of patrons inside...this tells me I probably don't want to come here on a summer day. I'll give it a five star because I think it is top notch as a Southern/Cajun style restaurant for the greater Houston Metro area. This is definitely a country type of restaurant. When you walk-in, you see pool tables and electronic games along the walls with the dining tables in the middle. There are large group dining tables in the back and tables outside if you wish to eat outside in the back. Something unique about eating outside is your very close to the chicken coop. You might think this is a little redneck but it is really very family oriented and definitely in the country. It is a little difficult to find. Tonight when we came in through the back, zydeco music was playing, the chickens were clucking, people were laughing and having a good time. This is definitely not a chain restaurant. It is down-home and lots of fun. We have eaten here maybe 10 times in the last six months. We meet our children and grandchildren over here so we have a group of 6 to 8 every time we come. Service is a little slow because they are so busy. Considering how busy they are, we are just happy to get in and get a table. You have to wonder where all these people come from. We know a lot of them come from the west end of Houston like we do. We frequently meet people we know. Bottom line; it has lots of atmosphere that you generally don't find in the city. The food is good and the service is good even though it's a little slow. And, the price is right. When they are in season, we always get 5 pounds of crawfish as an appetizer.m read more

My family and I have been enjoying the great folks and great food at Repka's for the last 8 years. Up until this past December we lived 10 minutes away. Now that we've moved we live almost an hour away. We're still going to make the hour drive to enjoy the best folks and absolutely the best crawfish in the State of Texas. We've eaten crawfish in probably 25 different locals including the wonderful State of Louisiana and Repka's is by far the best. If you like it done right without a lot of distractions and disguises on the crawfish get on over here. We've eaten almost everything on their menu and it's all super good food! Great food, 4 out of 5 times, so the 4 stars. I haven't had anything bad on the menu, and I've tried most of their menu items. There is not going to be much in the "healthy options" department. Everything they make is cooked traditional southern style. Don't be scared of the drive. Just plan on making a day of it. You won't regret it. Biker friendly, and the route is a great bike trail, so if you take a Harley out on the weekend, go check out those roads, stop and have a cold beer and some awesome grub. read more

I can't believe I have lived in Waller County for 25 years and had never been to Repkas!! Really fabulous Boudin Balls , Fried Alligator and fried crawfish tails!!! Tails were huge, and my friend ordered fried oysters and they were gigantic!!!! He said they were great as well. I'm giving 4 stars because the Fried Shrimp wasn't great but I will give it another try and change to 5 stars in a heartbeat. The service was excellent and it's a very cool place all around! I have dined at Repka's several times while my group is out riding motorcycles. Their crawfish are usually better than most around although they are not as good as when I am in Louisiana! Their cracklins leave a bit to be desired, just cook them a bit more guys until they crack and they would be great! What a cool piece of pure Texas. Repka's is located... hmmm... I don't know where because I wasn't driving but we were close to Bellville and it was down several winding country roads. We were there for a birthday dinner (my brother the honoree) and we had a big table in the back room. Fried anything is fantastic -- but especially the oysters. They were amazing. And my daughter even ate the fried alligator -- pretty adventurous for a 2 1/2 year old! Out back is a big coop with roosters, hens and even pheasants. Pretty outside area with old signs everywhere. Just a good casual place to drink a cold beer and enjoy some fried food (and my mom even said their steak rocked!). We'll definitely be back come crawfish season... read more

Really 3.5 stars. I had a few friends tell me about this place and thought I would give it a try as I was in the mood for crawfish. Based on the comments on yelp I can only guess that this place is hit or miss based on busy hours. I was able to walk in and pick a table but 30 min later you had to wait to be seated. There was easy an hour wait. Plenty of seating it just gets busy. They have outdoor seating as well. I personally liked everything we ordered. There is a sign that reads during busy hours food can take an hour to get during busy times. So don't complaint and be patient you been warned. Why you wait the kids can go outback and see the bird farm they have there and play in the field out back. If you do walk out back the spices from the crawfish will get you. I heard some people saying the spices were to much. Not for me I like it that way. I did have an issue peeling my crawfish as where I usually do not but still enjoyed. They have different gumbos and boudin balls depending on the day. We have shrimp and crab gumbo and it was GREAT. I eat alot of gumbo so they did something right the day I went. Fried pickles were good to. It's a drive for most was 23 miles for me but I liked it. I would go again one day. read more

We saw on Repka's website that they had crawfish in season. We drove about an hour because we were craving crawfish. We arrived at noon. We were then informed that they don't serve crawfish until after 5:00pm. Would have been handy to post that on their website. We ordered alligator instead. I ordered a side salad and my husband ordered a small bowl of red beans and rice. He said it had no flavor/seasoning at all. My salad was super small and they served it with the tiniest container of dressing I've ever seen. We ordered ice water and were informed they only have bottled water. The alligator had no flavor either. The bathrooms were dirty with no soap. We will never go back. read more

This place is definitely in the middle of fucking nowhere, but that's an important aspect to the entire Repka's experience. I've been patronizing this place for the past 9 years, and it rarely disappoints. I frequent Repka's the most during crawfish season, and they are THE best you'll find in a 100 mile radius. Spicy. Prepared correctly. No bullshit vegetables unless you specifically ask for them. It's all glory. The beer selection is nice, all domestics, and all cheap ($2.50). Smoking is allowed, but for the pink-lunged sissy, there is a non-smoking section in the back (service is a lot slower if you must sit in the non-smoking). If it's not crawdaddy season, the food is still pretty damn good. And almost ALL the food is fried (minus the gumbo and etoufee, both of which are pretty good). Highlights include the chicken fried steak, boudin balls, pork cracklins, fried mushrooms, and fried pickles. The shrimp jammers are top notch as are the alligator nuggets! The fried catfish and fried quail are up there as well in terms of quality. The one miss on the entire menu is the fried frog legs. Personally I'm a big fan of this dish, just not here. Make sure to get their early on the weekends. This place gets SUPER packed. I'm talking 30 minutes or more. Service is slow at times, but once again, that's an important aspect to the Repka's experience. The entire staff is really friendly! Also, expect a lot of bikers on the weekends. Truly a great place. This was by far the worst place I've aye at in years the place was filthy. Cobwebs in all the windows. The decrotive lights on the ceiling were half covered in diet and dust. To the point that the color of them had changed. The crawfish was so over cooked my girlfriend couldn't eat it. So she ordered a boudain link. When it showed up it wasn't cooked all the way. I use to ride my bike down to this little country store before the Repkas bought it out. They transformed it from a honky tonk dive to a country gem in the middle of no where.
