In any type of retail, especially if medically related like your eyesight/vision, customers should be provided all options for any type of lenses and the beauty of being the one paying is that THEY get to decide what to buy and how much they want to spend. That ability was taken away from me here. My prescription is very very minimal. I've had corrective eye surgeries so I don't need much at all. I picked out a pair of frames that I liked and told the person to go ahead and place my order. I had to come back in to get measured and she said they'll call me when the glasses area ready. I didn't realize until pickup that somehow, for this very simple and very minimal prescription that the glasses were $300-$400!! Say, what??? I was like ok... I paid it and I said I'm going to be checking with my insurance because this isn't right. There's no way for what I was getting it should cost me that much. I also asked for a more detail receipt, not just an amount, but give details on what exactly I was charged. Well, what I found out in the emailed detailed documentation that the person who works there who took my order decided for herself that I was going to buy the MOST expensive lenses possible. I am very upset she did that and never ASKED me what I, the person paying, wanted to buy. She never gave me any options. She never explained anything. I mean, that's your job is to lay out and describe to me what my purchase options are. She just went ahead and ordered the most expensive thing on my behalf. I didn't think of it during the purchase process (why isn't she showing & explaining lens options...) because that part is their job #1 and #2, I haven't purchased glasses in a really really long time due to my corrective eye surgeries. I didn't even think of what she was *not* doing correctly. So, I called and has this discussion and I needed some of this money back. No way am I paying almost $400 for glasses that barely have any prescription to them, thus I will barely even need/use. I liked the frames so I wanted to keep them and she offered getting the lenses remade. And I'm feeling like, I don't know that I want to do business with them again. So that wasn't my preference given what just happened, how nothing was explained and I was just charged without my consent. Next I said what if I just return the lenses and she said she would refund me. So, that's what I ended up doing. To me it's really ridiculous that she couldn't refund me the difference for the less expensive lenses and allow me to keep the lenses already manufactured and in the frame. -- THAT would have been the ideal response. -- THAT would have saved losing me as a customer for life. So, now we are just going to fully waste the most expensive, perfectly good lenses, sized only for my frames, and with my own prescription for absolutely nothing? Great. How stupid. She is the one who grossly messed up and she should have allowed me to keep those lenses for her mistake instead of being so wasteful. I'm out.

This was my second time trying to avoid the absurd pricing for glasses and lenses that even "discount" brick and mortar stores charge. The first was quite successful with another online store that offered both frames and glasses. Bolstered by this good experience, I purchased replacement lenses for two pairs of glasses from ReplaceALens, and if there was a "6" rating, I'd give it to them. From the online website, to the folks that I talked with about questions I had, to the ordering process, and, most importantly, the product, perfect! I had normal concerns about the accuracy, quality, fitting, and more, by doing it online, but when I talked with a young lady there (can't remember her name - sorry), I decided it was a minimal risk. The lenses are the best I've ever had ... period, regardless of price. I had them checked locally for accuracy and they are spot on, and the tech that did it even commented positively on the "quality" of the lenses. I wear trifocals; something that's not in great favor these days. Most have gone to the progressive lenses when they need multi-focal products, but I've stuck with lined lenses as they work great for me. But if I were to try progressive lenses again, I wouldn't hesitate to order them from ReplaceALens. They offer the full range of lens materials, coatings, and technology; some that one can't get at all regular stores. Of special note: these are the first set of lenses, EVER, to get the segment lines straight with each other, right to left, and aligned properly with the frames. Not once before has anyone got this right and I have found that trying to "turn" the lenses to get them straight doesn't last: since they are shaped to the frame, they just go back to crooked after a few hours. This may not be bothersome to many, but, with as much astigmatism as I have, having them off only a small amount affects my vision. All this air to say: I ReplaceALens is great. I would highly recommend anyone that wants high quality lenses at a reasonable price, give this a go. The most difficult part of the process is getting the pupil distance (PD). Where I live, the none of the eye doctors provide this, and won't! You have to go to a store where they measure it as part of the frame purchase. If you already have a pair you can send in, ReplaceALens can determine it from them, though. If not, they guide you through doing the measurement yourself or sending them a picture of your face with a reference object and they'll estimate the PD. I will do business with them again for my next lens change. While I've, happily, not had to deal with them on any problems, from the reviews, it's clear they are customer oriented, should there be an issue. I did talk with them before ordering the lenses about getting the PD, special requests I had about segment height, the process if there were a problem with the lens, and a discussion of the various options. Excellent Customer Service, Price and Product This review is about using the experience as a remote user who found ReplaceALens on the internet. Although you can find ReplaceALens' services via their internet site, keep in mind that they are an US-based, old school kind of place where the work is done at their Colorado facility. You can read about their services and lens types on their site and then download a form that you fill out and enclose with your frames that you send them. I would recommend using the internet to read up on the diffeent types of lenses, the pros and cons of the materials used, etc.. to better decide what you what to purchase. I have no doubt that you could call RePlaceALens' Customer Service and they would help you as well. From the East Coast, it took about 8 business days before they sent me an email to let me know that they had recieved my frames sent via US Postal Services. I called a couple of times to see if they had recieved the frames and the staff was always very polite in providing a staus. I expected the frame to arrive more quickly (as letters I send to CA get there in 3-4 days) but the length of time might have more to do with the postal service or the fact that I was able to pay via an out-of-state check that would require a couple of days to clear. The processing and return via Fedex 2 day (a extra cost) took about 6 business days. Why am I rating them so high if this process seems slow? Because these lenses are perfect. I'm very happy with the workmanship. I like these lenses even better than the (twice as expensive) ones that my othomoligist's office provided at my last check-up. A real qaulity job! read more

This is the third time I have purchased from 'ReplaceALens' and I had problems, this time around: Frames had been shown by USPS as delivered, but were lost by 'ReplaceALens'. They replaced the lost frames with a used frame of the same design, that they purchased on 'Ebay' (no longer available from manufacturer). Lenses were eventually made, but Alex said there was a "glitch" and had to be remade. Frames and lenses finally arrived back to me months after they were first sent to 'ReplaceALens' and there was an obvious bright yellow dust/particle all around the edges of the lenses and in most of the crevice's of the frames. The frames are black, so this would have been noticeable, had anyone looked, before sending them out. I'm sorry this experience happened. To his credit, Alex was responsive to correct some of the mishaps, but after all that occurred, I specifically asked if he could check the lenses/frames before shipping. Given the very obvious remaining yellow particles everywhere, that didn't happen. I will be bringing these frames/lenses to my optician since, after all these mishaps, I've lost faith that the lenses were made to specifications. Just too many errors along the way... read more

I needed to update my prescription glasses. I use bi-focals with transition/ trivex lens. I really loved my ray-ban eyeglass frames so I only wanted to replace the lens. I also wanted to use transition/trivex lens again becuase I spend alot time outdoors. I also wanted anti-scratch and anti-glare features. I originally purchased my ray-ban rx eyeglasses at sears. It cost me almost as much as an new ipad. I was reluctant to go back to sears because it cost too much. So I decided to look elsewhere. I searched online for a while and I came upon this business. I saw they have really good reviews and their price for the type of lens I wanted was 1/2 of what sears wanted to charge me. I was hesitant about using an online service for my eyeglasses. But I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and the other optical services are just as pricy as sears. And I didnt want to put more debt on my credit card. Thus, I made my order and mailed my eyeglases along with rx paper. I just got my fav ray-bans with new lens. They did an awesome job. I am so impressed. I am wearing them without any problems. Due to several eye surgeries and other reasons, my prescription frequently changes. I have accordingly utilized ReplaceALens on several occasions and they have never let me down. Not only are the lenses always well within specifications, the customer service is second to none. I previously used other places to re-lens frames and would not recommend any of them over ReplaceALens. My prescription is one of the more difficult ones and not within stock range of any lens. This means the lenses must be ground, which is more time consuming. My recent Rx includes prism, which most places will not do, cannot do, or charge extra fees to do. Costco has some of the largest labs in the United States and even they could not manufacture (maximum six prism diopters) the amount of prism specified. Quite frankly, I am shocked that anyone could even think of rating ReplaceALens less than five stars. If anyone has questions about my experiences, please contact me. read more

I can't say enough GOOD THINGS about ReplaceALens.com. I've been getting new lenses from them for about 8 years and they are EXCELLENT. All you need do is send them a current prescription from your optometrist, your eyeglasses, the order form which you print off thier website, and a check for the amount calculated off the order form. In about 10 days you get your glasses back with the new lenses installed and your old lenses returned. They do single vision, progressive bi-focals, tri-focals, prescription sunglasses, tints, mirror coating, anti-glare, anti-scratch and pretty much anything else you might want at VERY LOW prices. Progressive Bi-focal lenses from the optical dispensary at my optometrist cost more than $300, but from ReplaceALens the EXACT SAME prescription with all the same options cost only $89.50, (saving me $210). If you want to save money on eyeglass lenses, this is the place to go. GOOD JOB ReplaceALens ! ! ! read more

I read all the positive reviews before giving them a try. The most positive reviews were accurate. Price was my main criteria, followed closely by service and craftsmanship. Replacealens gets highest marks from me on all three. PLUS they were fast (10 or 11 day turnaround between my post office in Houston and return to my mailbox at home) and they sent emails keeping me informed of receipt of my frames, work progress and shipment. They really do things right, and I am pretty particular about service. So if you are looking for the right company to do business with online - you've found them! No, I am not a paid spokesman. I am just a (late) middle-aged dude in Houston, who used his all vision insurance on new contact lenses. I bought a few frames on eBay and will be sending more to these guys. I'll likely splurge for a pair of prescription sunglasses in the process. Never had a pair. read more

WOW! Value, professionalism, advice, and service at a reasonable price! I was counseled (by telephone conversation with the friendly and experieced staff) to use the 1.74-index Seiko lens. The results are spectacular (considering the Rx is -7.5 with a coulple diopters of cyl on each), and the anti-scratch and anti-glare finish a beautiful product. Maybe some like the "2 pairs for $99 deals offered by eyecare franchises, but for high-quality lenses for demanding presciptions, look no further than ReplaceALens. The staff are friendly, professional, and helpful...don't be afraid to call them. The results are extraordinary at a fraction of the price offered by major discounters. I just finished my order with ReplaceALens, and couldn't be happier. Granted, I was a bit nervous, never having tried this type of service, but all turned out wonderfully. I started by buying a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses, RB2132 wayfarer, purchased on Ebay. Frames came and all was fine. Next I needed to get the lenses. Next was ordering the lenses. I went to Costco, where I buy all my glasses, and since they don't add lenses to Ray Bans, I found ReplaceAlens. But, Costco people were great. Helped me get the proper PD numbers, measured my new frames for Bifoculs, a very important step. I then placed my order for polycarb, polarized, bifocul dark lenses for my new Ray Ban sunglasses. I never write reviews.....but this needs to be known! Replace a lens is the most amazing eyeglass company around. The reason is because they were lightning fast with my order,very nice and curtious, and did the most amazing job ever!!!! I had 6 pairs of vintage eyeglasses and wanted reading lenses put into the old frames, I thought that out of the 6 that a couple of them might not turn out right because of the old lenses stuck inside a 55 year old frame. Rest assured, they all turned out excellent, and not only excellent but perfect! And at a great price! I would give them more than five stars if I could. I purchased 2 pairs of designer frames online and sent them off to replacealens to have my prescription put in them. Well, the prescription that I got from the doctor was incorrect so I was very disappointed. Even though replacealens was not at fault in the slightest (the script as written was accurate in the lenses they put in) they did discount me 50% to replace the lenses again. They even sent back one pair first to have me check and make sure that the new script was accurate before processing the second pair and upgraded my shipping to get them to me quickly. The staff were very friendly and professional through this whole process and the manager that I dealt with (Martina) remembered my name and situation each time we spoke. This company took my glasses frames with lenses that weren't the exact replacement and were only just close to fitting in the frames (they're from France and wire rims that are without screws and made of titanium.) because I had to use the old lenses in $1.00 frames I glued to fit the old lenses so I'd have something to see with. Given all that and I hand wrote the prescrition and measured my eye distance they did a super excellent job! I was delighted to get them back especially after having been turned doen by 39dollar glasses.com who said they wouldn't make lenses because my titanium rims were too fragile! As flawless in their execution of precision lenses as they are, this excellence is dwarfed by the emphasis they put on customer care and satisfaction. After covid I was put on oxygen and my sister bought me glasses frames with oxygen tubes built in. She dropped them off at ReplaceALens and, understanding I could not come in for a fitting, they figured out everything on their own from my last prescription and sent them to me (for less than a pair of glasses at shopping mall eyewear). My experience with ReplaceALens was beyond anything that I could have expected. It turned out to be a rather lengthy process requiring their optometrist to see me several times as well as several attempts to get the correct lenses. The prescription I originally took to them was not correct. I dont usually write reviews, but was so happy with ReplaceALens I thought i should. I got a frame from Morgenthal Frederics in NY, but balked when they wanted over $800 for 1.74 lenses. So I decided to do a little googling, and found this place. As a prior customer of Warby Parker, I guess I was comfortable in ordering glasses (lenses) online, but all the same, was thrilled when I was able to get the exact 1.74 lenses for $150 and everything worked super smooth. The only caveat in turn-around time, BUT 1) they let me know that, and 2) when I called to asked if they could try to send the glasses before I left on vacation, they made sure I got them. I HIGHLY recommend ReplaceALens for quality lenses and outstanding service! I have very unique rimless frames that I just love and I always get a lot of compliments on them. I could not find anyone, or anyplace, that would make replacement lenses for wireless frames until I researched online and found ReplaceALens (located in Denver, CO). After ordering frames from ebay, I searched online for a lab to make some lenses for us and discovered ReplaceALens. They provided service beyond expectations. On one pair, progressive polarized we saved $80.00 over WalMart Opitcal and the other pair was Drivewear Bifocals and we saved almost $100.00 over the nearest online offer, not available from WalMart . Use this company! I haven't received such great customer like this in a long time! This place is the best. The turn around time was phenomenal! They kept me informed of the progress of my glasses and even called me to discuss the lenses. I sent them 2 pair of frames that did not have lens. These frames were discontinued years ago. (Ray Ban) They had to make these lenses from scratch with only a photo on line to go by. They are held on by a tiny screw in the corner. They do not have a lower rim. This was the BEST deal in town. I wanted to keep my old frames but upgrade to progressive lenses. At the local store in my area they said it would cost me $400 and would actually be cheaper for me to buy a whole new set. I checked out Replace a lens and they did it for $64!! I just got them back (within a week) and they are just as good if not better than the pair I had done earlier this year for a lot more money. Their cutomer service was amazing. Over the years the office staff has changed but the service and care is top notch. They have all the current diagnostic machines. They accept all standard insurance plans including VSP. Their in house lab and eyeglass retail space have been served by Julie & Kyle as long as I can remember. They continue a standing policy that you can get your eyeglasses adjusted for free Mon-Fri and Sat till 1pm. They continue to hand out free microfiber cleaning cloths and alcohol cleaning sprays. Free parking around building with handicap ramps. Nice seating area.
