Wow! This was better than I expected. I've never been offered so many kisses!!!! I only went on to browse and found it to be entertaining. A good distraction to my day. Large to mini sized turtles, lizards and snakes. Lots of varieties of each species and they also sell tanks and supplies. Large to mini size blue worms, hissing cockroaches, and there are a bunch of large turtles! Not the best scent inside, but I'm not a reptile fan, and I don't frequently go to these types of stores. The people here are really kind and really helpful BUT a lot of the animals are in dirty tanks or too small of tanks. I just think they have too many animals to the point where they have to make the tanks smaller to fit all the animals. I've been to other reptile stores where the animals were in decently sized tanks and they were clean and happy looking. A lot of the leopard geckos here looked really sad with little to no energy it kinda felt like I was in a petco or something. read more

My dad and I have a 35 gallon frog tank and I also have a tiger salamander (separate tank). We were looking for a dumpy white's tree frog because we only had one and wanted to get her a boyfriend. So we stopped by here and we were so glad we did! Not only did they have an entire tank of dumpy frogs, but the overall store is awesome. The tanks and animals are well taken care of and I did not see anything that made me uneasy. So we bought a dumpy tree frog in hopes it would be a boy. The next day he croaked so we knew we got a boy and that was pretty cool. He is happy and healthy and loves his new friends. (I'll attach pictures.) We also bought dubia roaches and the frogs love them. We will definitely be back! read more

I was very excited to check out a reptile store by me, and I am really sad to say this was not the best. I saw a bearded dragon with thousands of bugs in its enclosure, even visibly walking all over his body. Animals were sitting in feces, had greens that were going bad in their enclosures and many looked sick. The chameleons were in sad conditions and some were sitting in ways indicating illness, and overall I just saw more unhealthy and unhappy reptiles than happy ones. I hate to give a bad review but Reptile Island needs to know that their store is sad, and they need to do better! I was so shocked that I didnt approach anyone when I was in there, but please clean your enclosures and do some research on the animals you are selling! read more

This place is pretty cool. They seem to have a large variety of different reptiles and amphibians. I'd definitely recommend this place because of its nice selection of aquatic turtles that you cannot find at places like Petco or PetSmart. Like albino red-eared sliders or musk turtles. Decently priced compared to online websites that sell turtles. The workers at the shop seem to have a piece of good knowledge of the reptiles in the store. I got my musk turtle Elon from here. Hands down, my favorite reptile store. Period. I've been coming here for years. The employees know what they are talking about, and they are super nice. The animals look happy and cared for. I bought my very first tarantula here a few years ago. I have purchased a couple other tarantulas from this location since then. I've never had problems with my purchases. This place was awesome!! Came into this place today from out of town checking out the variety of reptiles they have, which is quite extensive. Even saw a red eyed crocodile skink! (Dragon Skink). Snakes, insects (tarantulas, spiders...even praying mantis!), turtles, tortoises, frogs, all kinds of lizards. Quite a selection. Had some questions about feeding my day geckos and a helpful young lady pointed me in the direction of some feed that I hadn't tried before. Great selection of vitamins and supplements for your reptile along with a lot of accessories. If you are into reptiles as your pets, this is the place to come. Love this place! This place is really sad. The tanks are dirty and the animals just look unhealthy. The leopard geckos look skinny and they had African fat tail gecko in a regular enclosure like a leopard gecko one but they need high humidity close to a crested gecko environment so I hope that little guy isn't suffering. I'd never buy an animal from here only to save it if I had enough $ to treat them. On top of that their feeders are trash. I asked for 50 meal worms definitely didn't get 50 not sure if the guy at the register can count but it was close to 20 (I counted). Most of them were brown and rotting. Within a 2 days all of them turned brown. That's never ever happened to me when I get them from other places. I'd stay away from their feeders because it can potentially get your reptile sick. read more

Mites, Starvation , Dehydration. I have seen many different cases of reptile abuse having owned my own reptile rescue for two years now and nothing compares to this. They had two nearly full grown woma pythons stuffed into a 12x6 enclosure with so much moisture I could smell disease. They also had a group of ball pythons, one pinstripe ball python in a cage all by its self. The animal was skin and bones, eyes swollen from an apparent mite infestation. Next to this poor boy was a group of ball pythons, juveniles maybe 500 grams each , 4 stuffed as tightly as they could go into the water dish. One of the worst being the albino I posted the photo of. His breathing was labored and he had massive mites on him. Not even able to soak to relieve some pain because the bowl was so tightly packed. I also saw a pastel that showed no signs of being alive. The worst that I saw was a male green tree python with old dry shed stuck to his dehydrated body. His skin was so dry it was creating rolls on him. No water dish was present nor any humidity systems. Completly disgusted and wouldn't recommend this place to even my worst enemy. read more

I got my bearded dragon from here as well. He did have pinworms and light coccidia, but I imagine with many reptiles around it's a difficult thing to contain. The staff is very helpful, and it was a pretty easy process acquiring him. He was my first reptile, so I had done my research before hand. They always have interesting new reptiles to view, and I've been very very tempted at the leopard geckos. I buy crickets here as well, they have a pretty good deal going on with their punch cards. If you have any concerns or questions, the staff is more than happy to answer them for you. I had a guy clean the dead shed and mites from my beardie's eyelid, something I definitely could not have done on my own. They will also clip nails, and generally give you a peace of mind that yes, you are still caring for your lizard correctly. :P read more

I don't own a bearded dragon but my very hip friend does. She needed some roaches and a different store was too expensive. More nutrition than crickets and for the same price, she said. K, I said. So we go in. Turtles immediately to the right. We go in further. Humping giant tortoises in the middle. I was allowed to pet them. They were friendly. I showed my boyfriend some videos of the action. "Gross. What zoo are you at?" Around the middle of my visit, there were four tortoises getting it at which point an employee flipped over the two males. One wiggled its legs frantically while the other accepted defeat. Who knew I would see human nature illustrated in the form of sexually frustrated exotic pets? My friend seemed very satisfied after the visit. $10 for 40 roaches. She also got thermometers, tongs, and vitamins for decent prices. The employees seemed kind and informative and smiley when she spoke with them. The animals seemed well-kept and most cages were clean. The inventory seemed well-stocked and extensive. Her "large" roaches ranged in size which was misleading, but her beardie, Lemon, was impartial. When I was younger, my mom used to take me to a local reptile store where she would allow us to feed the lizards. Here, I saw families using tongs to feed worms to the turtles in their plastic pond. There were numerous options to feed most animals there (e.g. $2 lettuce for the giant tortoises). Nostalgia. I can't wait to return. Better alternative to pet store chains and with 100% more action. read more

While the one in Yorba Linda is nice, the space is very limited and it is fairly cramped, but the people are nice, just like the staff here. No one pressures you to buy more than you want, the staff is polite and kind and provided everything I needed (large Dubai roaches and a hopper rat.) One additional thing I really liked about this place is the selection of ball python morphs. They have quite an assortment at decent prices and also offer specials. I got my first two critters a year ago from an expo and have been coming here weekly for some feeders. It's a 30 minute drive on a good day but it is always worth it as the staff are always kind and incredibly knowledgeable. I get my creatures from expos but the most important stuff from here: heating supplies, misting systems, lighting supplies, food bowls, substrate, etc. It's a one stop shop. The taller and slimmer gentleman has made me a long time customer; he's helped me with my first tropical species set up, advice on invertebrates, and the best recommendations on gecko products and care. read more

I like how this reptile store has a variety of insects for my bearded dragon. I buy my baby bearded dragon the small dubia cockroaches from here, and it devours them. The reptile store itself, is very cramped. It has too much going on! The staff here is very informative and knowledgeable, but I understand how some people can find them unapproachable and rude. Love this place!!! We bought a Marginated tortoise for my son for Christmas from here and Ryan was so helpful and got us all set up and did so kindly and with a smile! We recently went back looking to purchase a leopard gecko and once again Ryan offered his knowledge and helped us get all set up and in saying that we ended up going bk later that day to purchase another leopard gecko for my other son AND my brother decided to get one as well! Been here since I first got my ball python from the super show. This is the only place I get my frozen mice and the staff has always been nice on my many visits. They've given me tips on ball python care and check up on me as go around their store. Plus they have a jungle carpet that I love to admire and hope to get one day haha read more

To properly review a reptile store we rated based on reptiles, products, enclosures, and customer service. Reptiles: The store is fairly large, allowing them to have a high selection of various reptile species. If you're looking for a commercially popular reptile species, they have them. Obviously, if you're looking for a more specialized species, then go to a breeder. We were impressed with their selection of various turtle species, and a big plus for having any type of newt or salamander available. Products: There was a large stock of products/ feeders to choose from and prices were reasonable. We were happily surprised to see the wide selection of Pangea crusted gecko food and accessories. If you like grapevine, there was a large selection to pick out your preferred pieces. Also, it's always nice to see stores with a selection of used reptile cages/ equipment at a discounted price. Enclosures: For the most part, most of the enclosures were sub par. Granted, enclosures can always be bigger, cleaner, and have more accessories. For Reptile Island specifically, some of the tropical enclosures had calcified water on the sides making visibility poor. For those on the shorter end, there are many enclosures that are too high up to see for the average 5'2" individual. Customer Service: Most reptile store employees have many tasks that need to be done through out the day so we try to give grace on their attentiveness.We were not greeted or asked if we needed any assistance when entering the store (this is a common issue with all the reptile stores we frequent). However, this does not mean that the customer service was poor, when approached workers were friendly and even knowledgable about lesser known reptile species (which is very high in our book). P.S. They're located right next to a Kelly's Cookies! Just get some. read more

place is in horrible condition, everything is dirty and every tank is cloudy. every lizard is sitting there looking like it's dying. looks like 50 mealworms are dumped in a bowl and not changed for a week and molting. the place smells bad and there's dirt and dust where it shouldn't be. most of the reptiles don't have the right lighting if they have any at all. employees were laughing behind the counter and nobody approached us, this place needs help and so do the reptiles. read more

The staff here is absolutely amazing. I called them to see if they had any jumping spiders in stock, and they were quick to answer the phone. The gentleman who spoke to me was so nice and helpful. I went in about a hour later and he instantly asked "are you the one looking for jumping spiders?!" It was great he remembered me. He provided good information as this was my first pet critter. His dog was also so cute, lol. There was a gal who was also extremely sweet and helpful. There was another man (who may be the owner?) that helped me pick out a starter set of isopods and springtails. He definitely knew his stuff and made me feel a little less stressed about being able to care for these little guys. Thank you so much everyone! I'm giving this place an extra star only because the people who work here are very nice and try to help. But coming into this location is a death sentence for animals. I walked into the most awful smell. I tried rescuing a pacman frog from them and it died a couple days after i got it. They were nice enough to give me another one half the price. However, 2 weeks later this one died too. I am very experiences on frogs. I knew both these frogs were sick when I picked them up from there store. The second time i went in there to rescue the second frog from death I realized they had one tree frog with a prolapsed anus and 2 pythons were dead in there enclosure. Not recommended for people looking for animals. So sad. I will not be coming back unfortunately and I Hope this place gets better at caring for the animals. The only reason why I grabbed these frogs from them is because I'm partial to pacman frogs, and wanted them to be comfortable and maybe try to save their lives, i was not successful. read more
