I did a partial kitchen reno and needed to match the existing quartz counters that Mona's team installed last time. Ran into a problem: they didn't have any remnants in that color, and I'd have to purchase a whole slab just to match a little section. Mona came to the rescue! She offered me a remnant of a different color that she promised matches really really closely the original color. And since the new section was to be installed across from the old one (not contiguous), it would be very hard to tell. Sure enough, it worked out perfectly and Mona saved me a lot of money by finding a creative solution. Just like last time, I was doing this long distance without seeing anything in person. With contractors there is always drama or miscommunications, especially if you are not there to supervise. Not with Mona. Her reliability, attention to detail, and smart problem-solving in every project, no matter how small, give me total peace of mind. And the prices are still very reasonable, even years later! Then came the build process, in which we were fortunate enough to work with Steve Costa who not only juggled a third-floor walk-up, a building from the late 1800s, but also an extremely pregnant woman who was keen on getting this project off the ground and completed as quickly as possible. Steve led a fantastic group of NKB employees and subcontractors, but I would be remiss to not give a special shoutout to John and Mike who were our dream team carpenters, kitchen décor experts, and mental support during the project. Additionally, Kelsea from the PMA team was a huge help in keeping the schedule/accounting on track for us. Bob helped us select a double sink vanity, linen cabinet, single sink vanity as well as cabinetry for a wet bar and a matching kitchen cabinet. Bob helped us address a particularly tricky area next to our refrigerator and under a support beam where we wanted to incorporate new cabinets including a trash cabinet to match the rest of the kitchen. He also helped us with ordering coordinating trim and moldings. At one of meetings, he realized he had overcharged us $80 in the calculations and told us and lowered the price! It was so refreshing to work with someone so honest. Bob delivered all the cabinets in a timely fashion so the carpenter onsite could install them. I wouldn't hesitate to work with or order from him again.

I went to Lowe's today to purchase smoke alarms. A very friendly associate approached me and…read moreoffered to help. His name is, Austin. Not only did he explain the types of smoke alarms I was looking at, but he helped me to figure out the cost of buying in bulk or buying single units! He calculated the cost on his phone and helped me to decide by choosing the ones with an adapter for our wired system, so I could avoid having to hire an electrician! I like to do projects myself so this was extremely helpful! I shop at Lowe's often and I have a Lowe's card so I get 5% off of my purchase. Lowe's has lower prices from my viewpoint. I am lucky to live close by!

The people are basically ok, but becoming slowly less helpful and a bit less trained and a bit more overwhelmed, and there are some serious usability problems now. A recent interaction rivals the now closed Cragie on Main restaurant for making the largest possible number of mistakes in the shortest amount of time. 1 phone tree madness, that can and will hang up on you, and take longer to help you than the fine folks at the desk 2 caller ID on phone tree, to help track you 3 the call "can be recorded", again to track you BTW, the interactions can then be used to train the model BTW, it could not provide me with a recipe for a chocolate cupcake, but I know it could have 4 a long wait time, 25 min. in the end 5 that numerous ads during those 25 min. that had a strong push to have a shopper card, again for tracking (1000 points is $5!) 6 they are pushing an app, but not providing a phone to put it on, again to track you, and would like you to provide the hardware to shop with them. 7 Flock cameras on the way in, again to track you so, I'll go back when I have to, but I'm going to check out some places in Cohaset that might be less keen to get into me. And, Nantasket Hardware has more than I thought.
