My wife and I have been loyal and highly satisfied customers of Hancock Appliance for over 40 years. When our refrigerator failed last week we immediately went to Hancock Appliance and met the store owner, Bill Trafone. Bill spent over two hours reviewing our family needs and displaying over 10 different models and manufacturers in order to find the make and model refrigerator that best met our needs and that was compatible with our kitchen specifications. Mr. Trafone was very knowledgeable; patient and kind. With his guidance, we finally selected a wonderful Frigidaire model that met all of our needs for a very competitive and reasonable price. I had a very frustrating experience purchasing a washing machine here. First, I submitted a request for information and never received a response. After waiting three days, I had to call the store myself, only to be told they never saw my request. When I scheduled delivery, I explained that I could not be home at 3 PM. I was assured they would put me on the truck as the last stop so I could meet them after work. On delivery day, however, I received a call at 1 PM saying they were already on their way. I left work early, only to arrive and find they had already left -- despite telling me they would wait. I tried calling the store repeatedly, but no one answered. I finally drove down in person around 1:45 PM, and was told that all deliveries for the day were already finished. This was not only inconvenient but also completely contradictory to what I had been promised. In the end, I had to cancel the order and get a refund. Overall, the lack of communication, broken promises, and poor customer service made this a very disappointing experience. read more

I went to Hancock Appliance in Quincy to find a dishwasher for my parent's home. My Dad had previously used Hancock and raved about the quality and service. I was looking for a "One Stop Shop". This is EXACTLY what I received. I walked in on December 10 thinking that I was going to be there for a while deciding what to choose. Bill, the owner, greeted me, asked me a few questions about my needs and suggested a model. It seemed fine to me, and I decided to purchase it. I met with Maya who completed the paperwork. I was in and out of the store within 30 minutes. Delivery was originally thought to be before Christmas. I called and was told that delivery was tentatively scheduled for Wednesday the 31st in the afternoon. (I was in no rush, so it was not a problem.) Delivery was then scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, between 8 and 10. I was contacted the day before by Jim to ensure that someone would be there. I confirmed the delivery. I could not be there, but my niece was going to be in the house. Since I was not there, I asked her about the experience. Delivery was on time. They arrived around 9:15. They were courteous, professional, and efficient. They asked her if she wanted to look behind the old dishwasher. It was cleaner than she expected! Everything was completed within an hour. A Hancock TV and Appliance salesman did not verbally tell us at any time the refund policy on refrigerators and now we're stuck with one that we don't like, and wasted $1,000+ on it. I immediately contacted the store, asking for a refund, but the salesperson notified me that as soon as the refrigerator is in the home, NO refunds. Other stores have refunds, why not Hancock? Unless you're 100% know what you're looking for, BEWARE. Don't assume Hancock has a reasonable refund policy because it doesn't. read more

Top load washer after 15 years stooped working so on MA tax free weekend looked on line at the small business stores for a washer. Looked at GW Toma, New England Appliance and Hancock Appliance websites. Chose Hancock Appliance due to location had make and models that Consumer Reports approved of. But due to tax free weekend, store was busier than usual. I did notice a sales man helping out another customer and when he was giving his pitch to a client, I needed to look at other models in store since most washing machines only come with a one year warranty and LG brand that Consumer Reports gave thumbs up to were cheaply made IMO. Found a model that was assembled in the US that came with a limited 5 year warranty for materials and workmanship and a limited 10 year on the motor (I'm responsible for labor and cost) Only reason location got 4 stars is salesman did not mention anything about financing that website lists. If that's only for online purchases, that's fine. But it would have helped the budget to have that 6 month/12 month option. . I try to get away from using the big box stores. read more

We originally bought our (4) appliances at Boston Appliance, Woburn, MA as we live in Peabody, MA. As we close to the delivery date, Boston Appliance, a once repeatable family business stopped returning our calls and then within a week closed their doors and went bankrupt. We needed the exact same appliance to fit into the design of the kitchen. We called many stores and prices where much higher and in most cases not readily available. Not only could he get the appliances, meet the original schedule and new the position we were in he matched the prices from the bankrupted Boston Appliance. I purchased my oven from Hancock Appliance during Covid. So, of course it took a while to get it. Hancock Appliance kept me informed and up to date on the shipping issues. New Year's Weekend I had an issue with the oven locking and I wasn't able to unlock it. I cannot tell enough just how helpful the Hancock Appliance people were. It was a holiday, a weekend and most people just want to get out of work and celebrate the holiday. I received so much attention from everyone I spoke with. This time, when I went in looking for a new gas range, the salesperson suggested that I just take a look at their website. He said they only have a few models in the store, but hundreds on their website. He seemed to have no interest in helping me. Not satisfied, I went to a competing appliance store where the salesperson listened, found what I was looking for on their website, and then showed me a better model that was on sale. He had this model on the sales floor and went through the features with me. He made a sale. When I relayed my Hancock experience to neighbors, I heard similar stories.
