This is the worst service I have ever used. Starting last month, my garbage has missed picking up for multiple times. Called the company around 430 pm and waited for 30 mins until the service line automatically shut off at 5. Even I was able to talk to someone and was promised driver would come on the next day, my can was still full by EOB. It's so frustrating to complain to them for the same issue over and over again. Worst customer service. My garbage was supposed to be picked up on 1/17/18, it was not. I contacted them via email and voicemail. On 1/18/18 my garbage still had not been pick up. I spoke to them around 3:30PM, and was assured that my garbage would be picked up by 6:30PM. I checked at 7:30, garbage still has not been picked up. A LAUGHABLE SITUATION: I have just moved into a place. It was upon me to figure out the waste management service. The trash bins name lead me to their website and there I got their phone number and email. 1. I called 3X ranging in long periods of wait time. Once I was on the phone for an hour and fell asleep, woke up and still no answered. Then I emailed them to get an account to pay for the services. They responded once trying to figure out if my HOA covers the service through a series of questions. The service did not respond back and lead me to a dead end again. I gave up and 3 months later from when I first moved in, I received a warning to deal with the courts if I did not sign up already with the waste management. I was calling and emailing in a 2 months span. 2. A neighbor stole our trash and recycling bins, when Republic Services was switching out the bins for new ones. I called the custom services twice once notify them about the situation. Again to remind them to give it to us before the pick. They gave trash the day before when I was called the second time. 3. They gave the trash but not give the recycling. I had to wait another week for it. I came the day of the pick up, after they picked up the recycling. 4. I had to recycle the cardboard in neat bags by myself. I went to tri-recycle in Union City. They are a headache. That girl Noni is rude and unprofessional. read more

I requested my account be closed, repeatedly. I moved and don't even live in the same county anymore. I kept having the bill forwarded to me and noticed the amount increasing. I called again and the same thing happened. I called again, this time demanding to know why my account is STILL open and being billed. I was told if I do not give my forwarding address (I will not give it to them) they will continue to bill me, even if I ask services to be stopped. I've always paid with my card, services at my new address are with a new company, and there is no reason for them to have my current address. They still refuse to close the account. I recorded my phone call with them today and they admitted refusing to close the account. I also filed a complaint with the better business bureau. It's really getting old to have my scheduled pickups not be picked up and to have to leave my garbage/recycling/compost bins or bound cardboard out in the street for days because "oh you're on the route for the day, don't worry." Sure. I wait on hold for 30 minutes, the same people tell me I'm on the route for the day, the day ends and no pickup. Repeat as necessary for a minimum of 3 days. This is a complaint in regards of my business account. It's a restaurant and they haven't pick up since Aug 22nd. The phone number 1-800-299-4898 seems to work for automatic payment only. I was on hold in the morning for 20 min, in the afternoon for 40 min and I gave up. I sent emails and emails that they missed the pick up but it seems like Republic Services is out of business or something. Now I am receiving quotations from other companies as the trash smell is killing my business. if they are still in business, owner or management is not monitoring at all.. How can you charge $400 a month and provide such a poor service. Half the time I come out to retrieve my trash bins to find them lying on their side or 3 feet out from the curb, and trash lying in the street which I then have to pick up. We bundled our cardboard correctly, neatly, and according to standards. They came after 5pm on our pickup day and did not pick up the cardboard... Now I don't even want to call to ask about it due to the multitude of other reviews that show my situation is not an isolated case.. and I would probably just end up on the phone for hours. At the same time, I will probably receive a response to this comment asking me to email an email where customers say is simply a place to "dump" all of our complaints with no response. Please don't instruct residents with: "excess cardboard should be flattened, cut into 3ft x 3ft pieces, bundled, and placed between carts", if you do not intend on picking it up. Republic was supposed to pickup an old dishwasher. I had to schedule 2 months in advance. They didn't show. I called the following day and the customer service representative stated that they pick it up that same day. Republic failed to show again. I am going to get a fined for having it on the street. Gina is the route manager for Fairfield, CA, and she has failed to keep her department running efficiently. Worst service ever and the ability to resolve your problem is non existant. 1. When the can replacement happened two weeks ago my recycle and yard waste cans became 64 gallon when they had been 96 gallon. Called to inquire from work. 37 minutes on hold to get a very rude man who told me that without the can number he could do nothing. I asked if the bigger cans were a different charge and was told no but without my can number he could not even swap them out. 2. 8/28 regular pickup day cans were placed out and when I returned in the evening trash can was missing, others were empty. Called Republic and left a message. 8/29 No return call. Called again 32 minutes on hold before Edith answered and informed me that they had High Call Volume. Best she could do would be to deliver a can next Wednesday. In the meantime I should bag all of my trash and set it at the curb. It seems ridiculous that I can't get a can before that. 3. Do you read your Yelp reviews? It should be obvious that your wait times on the phone are out of control, hire more people. Republic has a contract with the city of Fremont to provide garbage services. Perhaps if all the people making these Yelp reviews were to contact the City Manager to launch a complaint or show up at a city council meeting and complain something could be done. I called customer service and claimed driver came on Sunday and garbage was not there. Hmmm? This was not true, garbage has been sitting out there since Friday. Really I'm not even sure where to begin with Republic Services aka Allied Waste aka Fremont's only trash service because they've monopolized the market. Seriously, not even sure why I'm writing this review. Republic doesn't care when their customers are upset or don't get serviced because they know that there is no other company for us to call. The city of Fremont has worked hand in hand with Republic to ensure there is no one else to go to for trash service. It is sickening how corrupt this joint partnership is. I have a file filled with confirmation numbers that our trash will still be picked up even though the drivers running late, and then more confirmation numbers for when I have to call in the next day for credit for them not coming after all. The only good thing I can say about Republic is that the ladies in customer service have a good attitude. But that doesn't make up for the fact that Republic is unreliable, corrupt, inconsistent, and expensive (because they have a monopoly, why wouldn't they be). It's gotten to the point where we are considering just loading our trash into trucks and doing a garbage dump in another city once a week. It would be cheaper anyways, and would save us the headache. read more

Third time this trash company (that Fremont has let monopolize the city) has screwed us. This time my wife contacted Kathryn Harlan (a costumer service representative) to order a large dumpster for our home on March 28th, we had to sign and send back a service agreement which we did on that same day. The Dumpster was suppose to be delivered on March 31st in the morning...I waited till noon to call the service desk as we still had not received it. Kathryn got on the phone with me and said "I don't know what happen, I just got the email in just now"..."We will schedule it for next Tuesday" This is not true for 2 reasons: 1.) If it were true there would have been a bulk of emails that she did not receive, not just mine and would have said so. 2.) This is the number one reason given if someone didn't see or ignored your email and decides not to admit it ("its the computer, not me"). So I'm losing 2 days off as I was going to work on our home with a huge cleaning project and I will now have to take an additional 2 days off because of there bad organizational skills and management of there services...(4 days of no pay). And absolutely no compensation to the bill or your time...no, "will give you a free day" or we will take a % off due to our making a mistake"...nothing. And the best thing about this.....all the complaining on this site does nothing because there is no one else to call and get this service, no competition to worry about so why try harder to please the customer, its a joke and they are the ones laughing at us. Oh, and the other 2 times we got screwed: 1.) Took our big blue trash bin and replaced it with a small black one, we never asked them to do that (but then they just do what they want). 2.) We ordered a smaller Dumpster years ago for yard waste and didn't get it till 2 weeks after the date they scheduled it. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. Some of the worst service I have ever received in my life. Their service is awful, their customer service is equally awful. This is a company happy to charge for services, but not so keen to provide the service it charges for. It took around 7 phone calls, each lasting about 20 minutes and *4-5 weeks* for them to provide me the trash and recycle bins collection bins. Absolutely horrendous in every way! I live in a townhome community and in the past 8 weeks the driver has failed to pick up at one dumpster or another every pick up. Call after call we are promised they will come back out to do it, it doesn't happen. This week because they failed to pick up the previous week, we have a horrible overflow - have called 3 days in a row to no follow through!!! There are ants, flies, gnats everywhere and it's disgusting. It is beyond unbelievable that a company charging $5k a month to just us can get away with such horrific behavior. Change the driver, fire hem I don't care just do something because this is a job in its own staying on top of this company to simply do what we pay for!!! And you best check your bills closely because they charge for things we don't have and I've just uncovered that too. Horrible. My pick up day is Friday, my gray recycle was not picked up, called them & they said it will be picked up by 4. No one came, called back & they said it will be picked up Monday by 4, no one came, called back & was told someone will be out on Wednesday since Tuesday was Christmas. The customer service lady from the Fremont Office (white lady) was rude, mean, condescending and unhelpful. Keeps hanging up the phone in the middle of the call, very unprofessional. Called back while being serviced by another representative (The other lady was much more helpful) and heard the first lady howling with laughter on what's definitely a personal call. The company does all the trash pickup in Fremont so I guess they see no point or take no pride in hiring decent quality or customer service representatives, nor do they give a damn about their customers. (take it or leave it you are stuck) . If this were any other business they would fire her immediately as she would undoubtedly ruin the brand. I called to schedule for my twice a year bulk pick up. The lady scheduled me for Tuesday 6/1. I advised her that they usually pick up the same day as my trash day, Monday. Still, she told me it was scheduled for Tuesday. I left my items out Monday night. By afternoon Tuesday, the items still sat by curbside. I called them and was told that the lady who scheduled me made a mistake and now my new pick up date was 7/5, Monday. 1st, if she knew she made the mistake then why didn't she call me back to schedule me for 5/31, Monday. By not calling me back, I unknowingly set the items out in the street. 2nd, she rescheduled my pick up to 7/5 without notifying me! This is incompetence at work at Republic Services. Employees like this give the company and their responsible co-workers a bad reputation. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and they transferred me to Customer Relations. Keisha advised me that she would try to schedule for a pick up later in the day. She asked for my number and said she would call me back for an updatde. She never did call me back and the items are still in the street. To top it off, she told me that I was only allowed 2 items for my bulk pick I up. I advised her that I had a plasma tv screen, a basketball hoop and board, a BBQ grill and a duffle bag. She insisted that I was only allowed 2 items. I told her I had scheduled pick ups in the past where they were within the guidelines 6'x6'x6' pile. She was still adamant about the 2 item policy and I didn't want to discuss with her any further because I knew that this wasn't going anywhere and I had to go back to work. I then took everything out not the street leaving only 2 items out. I later called them back and asked about the bulk pick up guideline. The nice lady said that I was correct about the 6'x6'x6' guideline and said the items I had in the street was within policy. I then took them back out but unfortunately none of the items got picked up by the end of day. Last week I was pulling out my trash bin down the driveway, the driver was coming down the street I waived to him to ask where he wanted me to drop the bin so his mechanical arm could grab it, he looks at me, smiles and then speeds right by. Republic Services is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with and the worst part for customers is that we're stuck with them if we live in this area. SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT: -Don't bother doing it online. I submitted a request online then got an email from a representative who followed up. I replied time and time again and got no reply. Then I finally called to finish setting up my account and they basically didn't even work on it at all. The guy who helped me on the phone finally got it set up after I was on the phone with him for 30 minutes. WHY DOES IT TAKE THAT LONG? 20 of those minutes was literally me listening to the pitter patter of this keyboard strokes. I really think he was just typing for fun. TO CHANGE BIN SIZES: -First call: I requested that my 64-gallon recycling bin be reduced to the smallest size. The rep said yes and that the new one will be delivered on the coming pick up date but nope nothing. -Second call: I made the same request. Instead of delivering the smaller recycling bin, they delivered ANOTHER 64-gallon recycling bin and didn't pick up the existing one. So now I have two 64-gallon recycling bins. Should I throw a recycling party? -Third call: Because the extra 64-gallon recycling bin had been sitting outside for a week, one of my opportunistic neighbors thought it was a free for all and swapped it out with their smaller bin. As for my original 64-gallon, a smaller bin was finally delivered. I don't even want to get into costs. I've been quoted so many different costs. One rep told me that downsizing the bin would save me $3, another rep told me that it wouldn't change the price at all. Obviously no one there knows what's going on. All the reps I've spoken with on the phone seem somewhat competent but they're probably apathetic. Sucks to go through life that way. It's unfortunate that I moved to city still serviced by this company. Tried to give them another chance, but what a waste of time and effort. I called customer service again for a question about my bill - unfortunately I talked to that same lady - that all she said is " I don't see that on my end"- okay thank you- I tried calling again - I know she knew my number coz this time she didn't mention her name. I told her I wanted to speak to someone else, she said that this is a call center - whoever is available will get the call...BS! Call center with only one person answering- I asked to speak to supervisor- AGAIN! same answer as before " They're away from their desk" Are they ever available???? My advice: do not use them if you have a choice!!! Apparently they are a monopoly in this area and we have no choice but them. Picked up only 1/4 of the trash on a regular trash pick up date. We left them comment on the same date and told they will send someone to take care of it in one business day, of course it didn't happen. Called again two days after and the customer service told me we have to wait till Monday and there is no guarantee someone will come. You probably won't even look at Yelp review as apparently customer satisfaction is on the bottom of your list. But please imagine if you ever encounter such a crappy service in your home. The good news first....They pick up the trash fairly consistently. Now the bad....Very unresponsive customer service. Had to make multiple calls to resolve any issues and the customer service seems to mainly want to get you off the phone and make excuses rather than try to resolve any issues. Their drivers are the worst that I have experienced. I have businesses located in several different areas of San Jose and the driver all seem to be the same. They try to find any excuse not to pick up the trash. Most of the time, the drivers are in the wrong and should have picked up the trash, but because they thought they had an excuse to not do it, they didn't. To resolve the issue, it takes multiple calls and talking with the supervisors in order for them to agree that they made a mistake and come back and pick up the trash. In the meantime, what are we supposed to do with full dumpsters? Seriously, why wouldn't the drivers just error on the side of caution and service the customer rather than trying to prove some kind of point by denying our pickup and ultimately causing us so much work and effort to get the service that we pay for? I wish we had options so that didn't have to deal with them, but I guess this is the quality of service you get when you don't have any other options. read more

I wanted to have my landscaping debris to be dumped. So I called Republic service. These folks take 15-20 minutes to pick a call or you need to schedule them to call. Once in a call, it takes easily 1/2 hr to have something done. In my case call dropped so I need to call again and spend 1/2 to continue. Later they sent an email saying that your payment didn't go through. So I need to again call and provide payment details. Now all these done, it now afternoon and still they didn't show up. They suppose to drop it in the morning. My contractors are waiting for them to show up since morning. I called them, again and again, the same cycle, they will schedule me to call back. We are still waiting. Horrible service, worse than any govt office. They are supposed to be a private company? the city has given the full liberty and contracts to do anything, they don't care about the customer as they are the only one whom the city has chosen and we don't have any option. The worst! And you are required as a homeowner to use their services. - Billing is poor. Assessed a late fee after I made a payment but my account shows $0 balance. Then suspended my account and charged an additional late fee for non-payment of a late fee before the due date on most recent sent bill (which does not reflect the late fee)? - Our recycling driver is always late and before he gets to our house the garbage and compost drivers have knocked the boxes all over my street so the recycling guy just leaves them. The only pro is that they always take the garbage so I guess they do their job at a minimum. Too expensive for a poor job though. read more

They just added $7.50 to your bill for the privilege of recycling even though they now take many fewer items. Overpriced and they have no motivation to reduce waste as smaller container which is 1/4 size is barely cheaper. If I could give 0 stars I would. I talked to Kerry about a week and half ago who said she would give me another trash can after it was stolen. I've been waiting a week and half and it did not come. She said she's made a note where they would pick up my trash to just leave it outside by the sidewalk. I did exactly that and no one picked it up. They are extremely unprofessional and the lady on the phone brushed me off but I will be leaving my trash for them to deal with.
