I am very happy with Republic Services, they have gone above and beyond to help out my elderly father-law. They delivered and pick up dumpster on time. It doesn't matter how many times you call to point out that they 1) don't fully empty your cans 2) drop trash all over the street 3) drop the cans on the ground or out in the street 4) leave notes on your cans to tell YOU the bill payer how to set the stage for THEM to do their jobs easier. The reviews and one star ratings speak for themselves. However, I will still be pasting a copy of the letter that I wrote to this company regarding the terrible services this company gave. In this letter is a timeline of the events that unfolded almost IMMEDIATELY after I hired this company. Dear sir/ madam, This letter has surfaced out of sheer disgust resulted by the utter lack of professionalism and customer service that your company has provided. I signed up for services from your company on June 10, 2021. Almost immediately after signing a 36 month contract with your company is when the problems started arising one after another. The following is a timeline of the many phone calls, missed pick ups and complete chaos that ensued after this date. · June 10 When signing up for service, I intentionally picked the soonest date for can delivery due to the fact that I had recently relocated from out of state and had a lot of packing material and boxes to dispose of. The date given to me was the following week on June 18 · June 18 The cans were not delivered. · June 21 I called the customer service number and asked why my cans had not been delivered. They did not have a clear answer as to why I had not received them and said that they would be on the schedule for the following day. · June 22 The first can was delivered, the second can was not. I Called customer service who again did not have an answer as to why I only received one can. They told me the can would be brought out the following day which would also be our regular pick up day. (Wednesday) I put the can out this night for scheduled pick up the following day. · June 23 The trash was still not picked up and I still did not have my second can. I called customer service again. Yet again they did not have an explanation as to why my trash was still not picked up and I still did not have my can. I filed a complaint and was told that I would receive a call back the following day from a supervisor as well as get a pick up and also receive my second can. I was also told by this customer service representative that she would put a credit on my account for two weeks of not having the second can. To this day, the credit is still not showing. · June 24 My trash was picked up in the early afternoon and the second can was delivered. · June 30 The trash was not picked up again. I called that evening and was again given no explanation as to why this was an ongoing issue. I filed another complaint and was told that I would receive a call back from a supervisor the following day. The customer service representative put in for a missed pick up and said the driver would be out the following day also. · July 1 The missed pick up was completed but I did not receive the call from a supervisor that I was told I would get. · July 7 The trash was not picked up again making this the third week in a row. I was told that they would come complete the missed pick up on the following day-July 8th  and filed another complaint. I was told once again that I would receive a call the following day from a supervisor. · July 8 My trash was not picked up as promised. I called the customer service number this time and told the Customer Service Representative that I wanted to speak directly to a manager since I had not received a call back any of the times that I had filed a complaint. Once transferred, I explained the situation to the supervisor and also advised him to look through the many complaints on my account. I told him that I wanted my trash picked up and then I wanted my contract canceled with no fees. He said our trash would be picked up the next day- July 9 (Friday) and that he would cancel my account but could not waive the fees, which I explained to him is totally ridiculous considering the amount of time I have had to spend on the phone with your company. He finalized our conversation by solidifying the fact that our trash would be picked up the following day and they would return on next Wednesday- July 14 to pick up the cans. He told me I would receive a bill in 2 weeks with a fee of $32.50 for the pickup which I told him I will not be paying. · July 9 My cans were not picked up as I was told they would be. I called customer service and was told that because my contract was canceled that they would not be to my residence to pick up my cans until our scheduled service date- July 14. I relayed to the customer service representative that I was told by a SUPERVISOR that our cans would be picked up today. After placing me on hold, somehow she was able to confirm that this was in fact the case. At this point it was 4:40 PM and she said they would be out in the next 20 minutes or first thing TOMORROW morning. I hung up without realizing that tomorrow morning was a Saturday. Obviously, I was lied to and just hoped that they would be here on Monday July 12 to pick it up. So here it is Monday July 12th. My trash still has not been picked up. read more

Day 2 update - box finally got delivered per escalation. Only getting a $35 refund for delivery charge (from a total $600 weekly rental), instead of prorating the weekly rental from 7 to 6 days. ** Original review ** If there was ever a way to give negative stars to a company, this would be it. This is exactly what you get when a company is the biggest (or only?) game in town with no competition. They don't care about customers, or their time, or what they can charge. HORRIBLE company to deal with in every way. I ordered a large garbage bin (30 yard) from them. The lead time was 2 weeks. Then when the day came, and I had to work from home since they don't give a time window at all, the WHOLE FRIGGIN day went by and no delivery. On my 5th call for the day, i got an awesome agent (thanks Nicole) who looked into this and then tried to schedule a delivery "first thing the next morning". Reading everyone else's posts, I'm just over here agreeing and getting more and more frustrated. All things Covid considered, and not ever having an issue with the call takers as I know they are limited in what they can do and were also very kind when helping me, SOMETHING ISN'T WORKING!! I waited over a month for my yard waste to be picked up. Called every week. Got the same spiel. Left a message with a "supervisor" who probably just added me to list of "not worth my time" messages. Now, weekly, something isn't getting picked up. I'm literally calling Republic Services, and asking them for a service that I'm paying for and that I HAVE to pay for. How many times do you have to report a missed pick up before they collect bins consistently? Republic Services is terrible. The worst thing is is that there is no competition, so they can continue their terrible services with no consequences. Recyclables were not picked up on our Tuesday (June 19, 2018) scheduled pick up day. I called Republic's service center at (510) 657-3500 on June 19, 2018 at @ 3:45 P.M. The duty person said she would write a "ticket for pickup tomorrow," Wednesday, June 20, 2017. She gave no reason for the missed pickup. This has happened several times in the past. My pick up days are Thursday and the green waste in our entire neighborhood in Fremont CA. has not been picked up, we will be going into the weekend with all our green waste not serviced. This is the second week in a row that either my neighborhood or another neighborhood in the area has been missed and serviced on a Saturday. I don't know about you but I don't like to be awaken on a Saturday by a truck servicing my carts that should have been picked up on a Thursday. Then I read a comment from one of there drivers on Next door stating that they are having issues with staffing and not having enough trucks??? I helped my parents schedule a bulk pickup through the Republic Services website at the beginning of May 2017. We never got a response back from them, and luckily we checked the online account to see there was one scheduled for June 8, 2017. The day before the pickup on June 7, 2017 at 2:43 PM, Jennifer (who did not disclose her last name, her job title with Republic Services, or have any contact information) e-mailed my mom to say that there was an error when they sent an e-mail to us back in May from Dominique Higgins and "apologize for the delay". That e-mail was sent less than 24 hours before the pickup was to happen, it took more than a month for Republic Services to figure out their mistake. Fortunately we stayed on top of our request and saw the pickup date from our online account, otherwise the mistake from Republic Services would have caused a huge inconvenience and struggle to have the bulk pickup rescheduled or canceled per their "at least two business days prior to your scheduled date". When making the bulk pickup request, the website says they will pickup "mattress, home construction debris, furniture, and large appliances." Upon coming home today, very little was taken and left they left flier stating they don't take "construction and demolition debris". We will now have to find another solution to this problem because that information wasn't given to us by Republic Services due to a problem with their staff not emailing us in a timely manner. Our regular trash pickup has been fine, but this experience with the bulk pickup has left a bad taste in our mouth about Republic Services and this confirmed the overall bad customer service from all the other Yelp reviews. read more

Update: I left the same complaint on BBB, Yelp, google map and Fremont city. The fastest response is from BBB, on the next day, the GM of Republic Services called me told me they received my complaint, applogized to me, explained the situation and gave me the solution. The container is replaced on the same day, and all the containers are empty on the next service day, which is today(8/12). So I'm pretty happy with the result now. The second place is Yelp, the republic services responded to my review today, not bad, at least I got a review from the company, I guess it would be resolved, but probably would piled up the garbage for one more week. The third place is from the city, my concern forwarded to the Environmental Services department, well, I can imagine, it might need one more week to reach the company. no response from google map yet, so next time I won't waste time to write a review there. So it was given one star and now I put a 3 star now, at least they do fix the problem. --------------------------------original review------------------------------------ Republic Services abuses the position of exclusive garbage company in Fremont, providing very bad quality of service. 1. I first called Republic Service on 7/12 to establish the service, they promised to deliver the containers on 7/15, But they failed to deliver and only when I called them, they told me the containers are out of stock and will be delivered again on 7/22. 2. On 7/22 they delivered the containers, but the yardwaster container was not the 64GAL I ordered, it was a 36GAL container. 3. I called immediately and they said will replace the container on 7/29, and this time even the General Manager of Republic Services, Steve Viamari, gave me his word, but still, republic services failed to keep the promise, no container replaced at all. 4. I called on 8/6 again, this time I just gave up, ask them to cancel the replacement, I can just keep 36GAL container. but since the yardwaste container never been picked up from 7/15, I requested a pick-up of the yardwaste container, the customer representative promised me it would be picked up on 8/7, but as you can imagine, they didn't show up. I moved to a new place and arranged for a smaller trash container. Last week they removed the bigger trash container and replaced it with a small one, but the small one was completely filled with styrofoam! I called and they said I can leave out 3 extra trash bags next week to account for the styrofoam. So, I left out extra bags today and the truck came and didn't take out my trash at all. So, I called again and they said they'd have the driver come back and take out my trash by 6:30 pm. I waited all night and no one ever came. So now I'm stuck with 2 weeks worth of trash and will have to pay for a private service to haul away trash that should have been taken out. Best of all like the other reviews mentioned, I have no choice but to use Republic Services and it's required to have trash service in Fremont... so really, there's no point in writing this review because there's nothing I can do about it anyway. If I once again don't get trash service next week I'll probably complain to the City of Fremont and see if I can get a refund since there's no point in me paying for services I didn't receive. read more

Our homeowners association has contracted with Republic Services in Fremont because of the city's agreement to make them our only choice. Service has gone from mediocre to bad to terrible in a matter of weeks. Our complex is divided in two halves, a north side and south side. The north side gets picked up first, then the south side. In the past five weeks, Republic has picked up recycling all five times on the north side, and has skipped the south side altogether. Two out of the five times they (after being called) sent a truck back the same day or the next day to pick up the recycling. But last week they failed to come back at all, and now this week they were again a no-show. Added to that, today is the day they empty our garbage dumpsters -- once again they picked up the north side and left the south side's dumpsters full. Customer service said that they would dispatch a truck. It hasn't happened. Lousy service. They care nothing about the people who pay them! read more

We moved to a new development under a year and it never fails every week. When our garbage gets picked up, there are more trash on the street left compared to when the neighborhood takes out the cans; street ends up being a disaster. Terrible customer service. They repeatedly do not pick up the cardboard boxes that we leave next to the recycle bin. They are broken down and tied together just as required. When you call they are rude on the phone and just say put it out the next week. We do and they still do not get picked up. I hardly leave reviews on yelp anymore, but this one deserves some notice. Why are your workers picking up garbage/recycling before 99% of people are awake? Since I've moved to the area (95134), they will pick up before 6am at least once a week. Isn't that illegal according to San Jose Noise Ordinance laws? The back up sounds on their trucks are way too loud and the engines roaring can be heard from a long block down. It's pretty ridiculous! Sleep is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Lack of sleep causes health problems and economic problems. I'm sure they wouldn't want noises from trucks in their own neighborhoods while they're trying to sleep. Please fix this!!! read more

It's normally a two-bag giveaway per household but since I own a duplex the rep was kind enough to give me double the love.
