Egg Breakfast Toast and Black Vanilla Latte

Already a fan of Republik Coffee in Pasadena, I couldn't pass up the chance to support their new Monrovia location. While it's a lot smaller than the Pasadena spot, it's packed with personality and the same smiling faces greet you at the door. There are a couple of small round tables inside and extra seating outside if you want to enjoy your coffee al fresco. Fun fact: Republik hand-makes all their syrups and even their almond milk! They also offer latte art classes, which is awesome. My husband and I have been interested in learning latte art for a while, so we jumped at the chance to try their Barista Basics class. We ordered: - Black Vanilla Latte - Strawberry Matcha Latte - Lox Bagel - Egg Breakfast Toast A couple pastries were calling to me the entire time we were enjoying our breakfast. As soon as the line cleared I jumped up to the counter to order a couple cookies, olive oil cake, and a ham & cheese croissant to go. Republik is a wonderful little addition to the old town Monrovia scene.

Great service, really good food and coffee. Baristas are friendly and fast. Only downside: place is tiny with barely any seating. More of a grab-and-go spot than a place to hang out. I wish they would have more comfortable seating. Unfortunately, it fills up fast and it also feels hot and smells like burnt butter as they are always cooking behind the counter and the ventilation is poor. (Just limitations of the space/building which is understandable given high rent prices). Order: A pistachio latte + almond croissant. Worth it if you don't need a table.

Great place for a drink or sit down brunch. Love the energy in here. Order at the counter and find a place to sit inside. There are also outdoor sitting in the front or patio sitting in the back. Drinks are picked up at the counter. Food are delivered to your table. Crepes are served in the afternoon for weekdays or all day on weekends. We tried the ham and cheese crepes and the hungry grain bowl. Of course, have to get my favorite matcha latte. Non dairy milk options are almond, oat and coconut.

I am so thrilled to live so close to downtown Monrovia to be able to enjoy all the local restaurants and cafes on weeknights and weekends. The area is so nice and everyone is so friendly. I bookmarked Republik Coffee for the longest time but haven't gotten around to waking up early enough on a "ME DAY" (no kids, no sports, no school events, no volunteering, most importantly no work) to stop by. Sunday morning @ 10:30am - I was lucky enough to find a parking spot right in the front of the restaurant so that was great! The line was out the door but it wasn't anything too crazy. I was able to place my order within less than 5 minutes, which actually gave me enough time to look at the menu. I wasn't too hungry as I usually don't like to eat that much in the morning, so although they have a great selection of breakfast items, I settled for side of two eggs and Turkey Sausages, and of course a cup of London Fog Latte for my IG photo. #PhoneEatFirst Food Rating? I had actually contemplated in ordering the full breakfast for my review. It was actually only $18 so totally inexpensive but I simply don't think I could eat the sides of potatoes, toasts and even an avocado. Wasting food is the last thing on my mind, so I ended up ordering breakfast sides. Surprisingly, it came out nicely plated! I am such a HUGE egg person and always on the haunt for the prettiest egg yolks so the eggs definitely passed the test today! Lol. Perfectly IG photo pleasing so i give that a 10/10. Their Latte? A MUST TRY! It was not too sweet and served at the perfect temperature. I really did enjoyed this so another 10/10. I love the morning vibes here and definitely feel like I was brunching at my favorite cafes in L.A or Pasadena. I highly recommend Republik Coffee in downtown Monrovia! Two thumbs up!

A cute little coffee and brunch place thats with an aesthetic clean modern vibe. Outdoor and indoor seating. Free to park on the street or time limited parking lots in the area. I got the Lavender Oat one of their speciality coffees, it was not too sweet, the lavender flavor had a perfect ratio, and not watered down. The Chilaquiles were flavorful and not too spicy (which is perfect for me because I can't handle too much spice) and its big portions, lots of tortilla chips under. I also tried their daily quiche (mushroom), it was yummy, not too salty, crispy crust, with a cheesy middle. Service was quick. If you are ordering food and coffee, you will be able to get your coffee first!

The truffle mushroom & Brie signature toast was rich and earthy,. The creamy Brie paired perfectly with the savory mushrooms and truffles. The salmon cucumber toast was light and refreshing . The turkey club panini was warm, crispy, and generously layered with turkey and fresh toppings. Drinks were just as enjoyable -- the black vanilla latte had a smooth bold flavor. The açaí smoothie was refreshing, fruity, and blended perfectly. Overall, a great spot for brunch or a coffee date.

This was my first time at Republik Coffee and I am definitely coming back! They have everything from coffee and tea to amazing pastries. I ordered the strawberry matcha cloud, and it was absolutely perfect! As soon as I walked in, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I loved the background music, and they have great seating both inside and outside. You should definitely check this place out!

Cute coffee shop in Old Town Monrovia with a really nice atmosphere. I ordered the Vietnamese cold brew and actually really enjoyed that one. I also tried the matcha, but personally it tasted a little too much like plain milk for my preference. I mentioned it to the cashier, and she was so sweet about it and offered to make me a different drink, which I really appreciated. Overall, it's still a nice spot and I would come back again to try some of their other drinks since it's in the area

I've been to the Pasadena locations a few times and they've always been super consistent. The space itself is cozy with a subtle luxury feelthe square paneling with gold trim gives it that classic Paris café vibe without feeling overdone. I also appreciate that they make their syrups in-house, unlike a lot of newer coffee spots. If I'm paying $8+ for coffee, I expect that level of detail instead of using standard syrups like Monin or Torani. The coffee itself is solid nothing tastes burnt, and you can actually taste the crema, which tells me the espresso is being pulled properly. I'm not usually a fan of cold brew since it can lean more acidic and slightly sour, but the sea salt balances it out really well. Service was friendly and efficient my drink came out in under 5 minutes even though it was pretty busy. I'd definitely come back.

Good coffee, rushed service, and really cramped inside. I just got a hot mocha and it had a really good chocolate-y taste to it while still keeping a coffee taste. The food smelled amazing but the prices were a bit much for me (I was already spending a lot that day). The service wasn't unfriendly but they were clearly very rushed. This is a hot spot on a Saturday morning! I was hoping to have a nice coffee and reading time at a cafe vibe but the inside is small and cramped and it was drizzling when I went yesterday morning. They do have tables outside in the front potentially in the back from the looks of it. There's a location closer to me in Burbank so I'll definitely be back to try other drinks and hopefully some food!

And to the Republik for which it stands, one nation under the magic bean with liberty and caffeine for All. Now let's sit and partake with the goods that will make your body shake. I'm going to safely say the coffee is not bad and it left my coffee companion satisfied. So on my end I ordered the London Fog and Turmeric latte. Both of them were pretty good but I've had better but they were still good. Service was decent and my ongoing gripe will still be when they look disappointed that I didn't tip them high. I'm not sure why my teas were so expensive because those aren't on the tariffs list like Matcha is. Oh well I'm sure they have a reason. The place is super cute inside and the outside patio in the back. Seating is so limited inside so come early! This place gets super packed. Stopped in for a late morning visit and overall left pretty satisfied. We had the Black Vanilla Latte & Oat Cardamom Latte ran on the sweeter side, but overall good drinks. Food was a mixed bag. The chicken pesto panini was genuinely good -- would order again. The truffle fries did their job. The Carne Asada breakfast burrito, though, was a letdown -- not because it was bad, but because the beef just wasn't what you'd expect from a carne asada. The cut and prep felt off. Manage your expectations there. Service is counter-order, self-serve setup -- you grab your own water, napkins, and cutlery, pick up your drinks, and they bring the food out to you. Nothing wrong with it, just good to know going in. Vibe is comfortable, relaxed, typical coffee shop cafe energy. Good spot to post up for a bit. read more

The staff was super helpful and kind. I went because I saw bags of coffee beans in a pic and wanted to pick some up. If you're a coffee snob, check the dates on the bags. I grabbed one that said 3/10 before remembering my hubby's words and found a 4/28. Kids got an acai smoothie and shared and didnt finish even half of it. They said it had chunks (yes hemp seeds - but it also wasnʻt uniform). My friend enjoyed her London Fog and I liked the Turmeric Ginger latte (less sweet) - it wasn't powdery like some places make it. It was smooth and tasty. read more

I finally got to check this place out and it was actually really good. I tried the carrot cake and the black vanilla latte. The carrot cake is made with almond flour, so it has a slightly different texture, but it tasted fresh and the frosting was so good. The black vanilla latte was also solid even though I forgot to ask for it half sweet. It wasn't overly sweet at all, and the activated charcoal surprisingly worked really well with the flavor. Service was pretty fast too, especially considering how busy it was. read more

Naomi greeted us when we walked in the door. The place was packed. She was very helpful with menu suggestions and seemed to know alot about the menu even though this place just opened. The food took a while but the pastries looked amazing while I was waiting. Had small patio with access to huge parking lot. New coffee spot in Monrovia might give everyone else a run for thier money. I can't lie. The shop is very nice. The coffee is great. The service is solid. The seating is adequate. Lots of outlets throughout. If you're a local, you'll observe that a lot of the customers aren't. That's fine. Lots of bougie customers day after day. Also fine. It just makes me think about what kind of local coffee scene I want for my city. The other main Monrovia coffee shop seemed to make it on fewer frills and grit, but comparable pricing. We'll see how that goes for them, now. To each their own. But I'd just prefer an affordable, delicious experience that nods to local life rather than gesturing to unattainable lifestyle. Looking forward to seeing how the new challenger on Colorado will position itself. Having said all that, it's good coffee for sure. read more

Republik is now in Monrovia. I came in this morning for my favorite Tumeric Latte! It has the perfect balance of oat milk, tumeric and smooth creamy goodness! I have been a loyal customer of Republik coffee, Pasadena location for years, so I was really excited when they open a Monrovia location. I stopped a few times for drinks and pastry and while everything looks just like the Pasadena location, the taste hasn't been quite the same. The presentation is identical, but the drink and pastry seem to lack of consistency. I'm hoping it's just part of the growing process and they'll eventually match the quality of the Pasadena location. read more

The front of the store has cute seating, and there's also a smaller, almost private, area toward the back near the bathrooms with a little couch and board games, which gives the place even more personality. I'd say the back area with the small couch is more of a first-come, first-served spot. The couch could comfortably fit a group of 4-5 people you came with, or maybe just one couple. Otherwise, it might feel a little awkward sharing such a small space with people you don't know unless you're not socially awkward. They have a good variety of drinks on the menu, though they don't sell any food. My sister didn't like the drink she initially ordered because she had requested foam and salt, but the staff was kind enough to remake it to her liking, which we really appreciated. Good customer service makes such a difference, and they handled it very kindly. My drink came out great... good size, good flavor, and fairly priced. Overall, I'd definitely come back here again if I'm in the area. Cute shop, good drinks, great service, and a nice cozy vibe without feeling cramped.

I ordered my husband's large drink, and order my REGULAR drink, paid for an ADDED shot, and asked if it could be placed in a large cup instead of regular cup, with extra ice. No issues ordering and paying. Even left a tip in their jars. I move over to wait for my drink and the girl making the drinks (short curly hair) finds an issue with me asking for a large cup and tells me that is an upcharge because it's more plastic and it's an inventory issue, and I'd have to pay for a large drink. Really? At first I think that perhaps she's under the impression that I want more of the drink or extra ice on the side perhaps? so I proceed to explain to her that I want the same amount that comes with my regular drink, but just want extra ice and space for my added shot that was paid for, hence the larger cup. She refused to budge and tells me it doesn't matter, that I have to pay for a large, even though I had already paid and the girl taking my order has no issue with this. Her attitude towards the situation was so bizarre and I wonder if her inability to process what I was explaining is what caused her to be so "firm" on this, but I left feeling so disappointed and frankly, not sure if I want to return. Possibly losing a customer over what you think is a 50cent "thievery" seems like bad business. UPDATE: within minutes of the review posting, Isaiah, the CEO personally called me to apologize for the poor experience and promised to look into this to make sure it doesn't happen again. He was also confused, since he assured me that is in no way company policy, and offered to void today's transaction. Thank you for making us feel heard.

Update: After posting my original review, the owner reached out to me personally regarding my experience. I appreciate them taking the time to listen to my concerns, apologize, and make an effort to address the situation. My original experience was disappointing and uncomfortable, but I do respect businesses that are willing to acknowledge customer feedback and work toward making things right. I'm hopeful that future customers will have a much better experience. I had a very disappointing experience at Republik Coffee. On June 8, 2026, I went around 7:40am, there was an asian barista/cashier who took my order was extremely rude and spoke to me in a disrespectful and aggressive manner. I was genuinely surprised by the way I was treated, especially considering that customer service is such an important part of any coffee shop experience. The situation became uncomfortable enough that other customers in line seemed to notice. Several people were looking over as the employee was visibly upset, slamming refrigerator and cabinet doors and creating a tense atmosphere throughout the store. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was being treated as an inconvenience for simply placing an order. I understand that everyone has stressful days, but there is no excuse for yelling at customers or displaying that level of hostility in a customer-facing role. The coffee and pastries may be good, but the poor service completely overshadowed everything else. I hope management addresses these issues because no customer should feel uncomfortable or disrespected while supporting a local business. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Duarte! My husband and I stopped by and absolutely loved everything we ordered. We got the butter croissant and the Black Vanilla Latte with almond milk, and wow... both were incredible! The croissant was perfectly warm, buttery, flaky, and fresh. I really appreciated that they warmed it up before serving, it just makes such a difference. The Black Vanilla Latte was the star of the visit. It's made with activated charcoal, giving it a unique look, but the flavor is what really impressed us. It wasn't overly sweet, just perfectly balanced and so smooth. My husband loved it just as much as I did, and it's definitely one of the best specialty lattes we've had. The staff was so kind and welcoming, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. They have plenty of parking, comfortable seating both inside and outside, and a clean restroom, which is a nice touch. While the shop served plenty of in-house made coffees and teas, off to the side was a refrigerated section brightly displaying bottled Chaparittas tangerine soft drink and Tehuacán mineral water. I decided on ordering an Oaxacan tostada which came completely smothered in black beans, cabbage, queso fresco, and salsa verde. It was refreshing and made for a quick, light snack while also being deceptively filling. While waiting for the order, I noticed their NY Cookies which came in two kinds. One was simply the regular chocolate chip variety, while the other came packed with white chocolate chips, ate de membrillo (quince cheese), and tejocote (hawthorn fruit paste). I decided on the second one and enjoyed the unique flavors of the bits and pieces, even though it was very sweet. All in all, would definitely come back to dine and chill out.

It's reminiscent of the Smoking Tiger Coffee Lab chain, but there's a cuddly Filipino twist. AMAZING COFFEE!!! I felt awake and happy. (Important: Cash is not accepted. Bring Card or Contactless Payment. Also, there is NO restroom at this location.) I arrived at Malaya (Arcadia) on Tuesday (around 7:48AM). Parking is available. The parking lot surrounds this business. Staff is very friendly and hardworking; however, it feels understaffed. I noticed only one lady, and it was difficult to get her attention whenever she worked in the back. I noticed a couple customers awkwardly waiting as nobody manned the register. Fortunately, when I had arrived, there was no wait. My coffee was ready in one minute and 45 seconds. Quick! As mentioned, I absolutely LOVE the Double Ube Latte ($7.50 + 79 cents tax). It perfectly balances decadence with utility. It's lightly sweetened with the fresh flavor of ube while also carrying a robust, familiar coffee flavor within. I felt all my stress melt away as I sipped this smooth, elegant coffee. I wanted to break into dance as I embraced this memorable, delightful flavor. In addition, the cup arrived picturesque while not being crammed with ice. The coffee came plentiful. Concerning ambiance, Malaya (Arcadia) is very UGLY and BAD. It's embarrassing if bringing someone here to study... The seating area is outdoors. I noticed cobwebs in its crevices. Several aggressive flies also flew about. The "tables" are these thin long counters, and the seats are made of cheap plastic. The view is also AWFUL. Customers are greeted with the funeral chapel from across the street. If you turn your head, you're instead greeted with a dumpster. And the nearest restroom is at a gas station. However, if you can ignore the bad ambiance, there is utility. There's customer internet with password; details are on the counter's glass. There's also seven electrical outlets. WOW!! I also liked the soft music that played from the speaker. Still, I recommend using Malaya (Arcadia) as an order-and-leave spot to reduce disappointment. Overall, despite the BAD ambiance, Malaya (Arcadia) offers unique and strong coffee. The Double Ube Latte is perfection in a cup. It's one of my favorite coffees in the SGV. Personally, I'd happily drive 30+ minutes to savor this lovely brew one more time. If you love coffee, this is an easy recommendation! 4.8 out of 5

It is outdoor only, with a cute patio designed to entertain in the cool summer nights. The kitchen was closed when I visited, so another review will be written at that time. Drinks: I ordered the strawberry matcha. Milk alternatives are available. The matcha was bold. Strawberry flavor was done well and altogether, a decent drink. With all the matcha drinks available now, I would rank it a 7.5/10. I'll give their coffee a try next visit.
