Coming here during events is always a nightmare. We went for the yaoi event, not even a big name event this time, and were stuck waiting in line up until the shop was almost closed. The girls behind us were given a sign to say they were the end of the line and even then a completely different employee had to announce to us all that they had just let the last group in and if we were still in line none of us were going inside. We aren't even sure that this person was a Requiem employee and not just someone like a volunteer helping out with the event as when we tried to ask questions they kept telling us they didn't know as they didn't work inside. This isn't even the first time this has happened at a Requiem special event. As seen in other one star reviews and even my own personal experiences they have somehow never learned from their mistakes and refuse to do anything to make these special events easier for attendees. It would be one thing if they were still a small independant cafe who had never done something like this before but they regularly work with big name fandoms and do official collabs with things like Undertale and Digital Circus. There is no excuse at this point for them to be so incompetent when it comes to line management and getting people in and out who get stuck waiting outside for hours. Have been wanting to come to Requiem for years and finally came! The atmosphere is next level. This would be a great place to come have a board game night with friends, or to come relax or take cool photos, it's nice to have an atmospheric cafe after the bourgeois Pig closed down in Hollywood years ago. I asked the barista what the best drink was, she recommended the "Tea Salt Ice cream" Boba. It was very good, tasted like drinking ice cream in Boba form. I would recommend it. I wouldn't say it's the best Boba around, but it's solid Boba in a great atmosphere, and I would want to come back and try more of their drinks. I happened to stop by Requiem Cafe during their Final Fantasy XIV collaboration. It seems they occasionally are host to various gaming, anime, and pop culture collabs from time to time, and are queer-owned. Upon walking in, my jaw dropped at how gorgeous and atmospheric the entire place was. It looked like nearly everything was custom made for the cafe, and made with love and tons of detail. There's a super cute little nook in the corner where you can chill secretly with your friends, beautiful tabletops for both board games, reading (from their small library), and cafe enjoyment, tons of hanging immersive decorations, and wall features that make it look like you're in a fantasy universe. Though the lighting is dim and colored, there's also enough proper light source to conduct any activity. Their bathrooms also have bidets. Should you want to dine outside, there's an outdoor themed patio. And if you want to game, there's a cyber cafe. The Final Fantasy collab was represented in mainly the entire menu change and cutout decor photo-ops. The menu had items that you'd expect to see straight out of a cartoon, and as suspected, existed more for aesthetics than taste; our drinks were too sweet and a bit more watered down than desired. If the refreshments matched the level of quality of the interior, this would for sure be a perfect cafe. While waiting for your order, it's fun to peruse the item shop, which had a lot of various trinkets and local artist merchandise. For the overly decorated areas, it seems you need to make a reservation to actually utilize the space, as there are strict usage requirements to aid in the upkeep and preservation of the effects. While inconvenient, I can see this is in place to keep the cafe continuously clean and beautiful. Even though I'd go elsewhere to eat or drink something good, it's worth supporting this business for the photos and vibes. There's street or paid parking to get here. You can easily spot it from the outside with their fun decor. But also inside has a chill nerdy atmosphere with unique decor. The staff are friendly and nice. They'll ask for your name and they'll call it out when your order is ready. They're pretty quick getting your drinks. They have a merch store connected. They typically have collaborations and themed drinks/snacks so it's good to keep track of the events. Also they have the fancy toilets if you're curious to try one. I tried the Warrior of Light drink. It was pretty tasty and light. Not too sweet which is usually most drinks. I got just enough marshmallow flavoring. The Korpokkur Kid was fairly decent. The oreo flavors is the primary flavor which if you really like that then great. I thought the puddingway flan was just okay but my friends like it. Overall, you're not coming here for high quality food/drinks but it's a fun place to hangout. And occasionally you'll find something nice. First time visitor. Very cool themed shop. Fantastical. Interior is supppper cute. Miscellaneous item shop for things to purchase. They have games and tables to play TCG. I already love butterfly tea drink but having sea salt in it was a unique experience. I haven't tried the food but I will be going back to try other drinks. Stopped in with friends for the FFXIV x Requiem collab. While requiem has been on my list of places to try for a while, I finally got the extra nudge to make the drive up from San Diego to check it out. Having a reservation definitely helped us when going in, but it wasn't insanely busy, probably could have walked in. The arrangement to get everyone who had reservations was pretty smooth and straight forward and staff were super on top of everything. Inside the venue is nice! I was hoping for a little more with the FFXIV decor, but we still enjoyed our time nonetheless. The growing light beverage was probably my favorite, a nice light drink that wasn't too sweet! Ordered the Bonfire and Cup of Comfort and was pretty disappointed. Beware, the pictures are not representative of the drinks and cost extra. The menu didn't say anything or the baristas did not mention or give us the option for the extras. Pretty much just got overpriced lattes that tasted the same. I wish the service was better and that they were willing to work either us on the drinks. Instead just got a response that "oh yeah the pictures don't look like the drinks. We've told the owners about that. Sorry!". It's frustrating to know that this was a known issue, yet we weren't told that the marshmallows or cookie, and etc were extra. This place was beautiful inside! I was accompanying friends to an Ironmouse Pop-up and had no idea what I was walking into. I was completely-pleasantly shocked. I ordered the Anarchy Latte and the Flancitos. Both were great! I ordered the latte with Oat Milk for a $1.00 upcharge (lame). The flan was great, very dense and the sauce was so sweet. The latte did not look like what was advertised on the social media page page. The decor was GORGEOUS!! It felt so magical inside. They had a shelf with books for you to read while there, a table full of boardgames and card games. There was a side room where people were playing DnD and there was a bunch of merch you could buy. my friend and i were in the area and wanted to try out requiem since we've seen it a lot on social media. it is a very spacious cafe with fantasy like motifs and decorations all around the cafe. one of my favorite areas resembled a tree trunk that you could sit in with your friends and chill, and overall the cafe just had a very magical vibe! i believe they have collabs occasionally with video games or anime, so pretty cool! also, the workers were all super nice and helpful with our questions. moving onto the drinks, i got the bananya brulee with a marshmallow foam on top, and it was overall just ok to me. the coffee itself is a pretty good coffee, but the banana flavor was not present at all, and the marshmallow foam was just a regular cream top. my friend got a rose latte, and it honestly tasted the same as mine. i would have loved it if it had more banana flavor as a puree or a cream. read more

This place in terms of cleanliness and decor never disappoints! It's easy on the eyes and quiet enough to enjoy a good conversation while taking in the environment and atmosphere. Every time I go it isn't anything special but the workers never are rude and insensitive. They are straight to the point and helpful when necessary. As for the sundae, I'm not too big on pumpkin but this might have changed my mind entirely! I devoured this and left nothing behind. This is my go-to whenever I'm in the area. This place was inspired by Japanese RPG's, especially that of the Final Fantasy series. I love the vibes and ambience. Even if you're just going to drop in for a drink, stay a little bit to see some of the details and themed seating areas. The menu can change from time to time. Example, sometimes they'll have an event and the main menu will change. I was disappointed I couldn't get my usual drink when they had a collaboration event. However, they do collabs with major IP every now and then. This cafe went hard for the FF XIV collab. I also come out here for karaoke every now and then. It's a lively Gen Z crowd, but do come early since karaoke slots do fill up fast. The cafe also validates parking as well. Good vibes, a must for any gamer in the OC area! read more

What a fun little shop. This cafe has a dynamic and friendly staff., a section decorated like a cave A fun shop complete with computer stations to play your favorite online games. We came here for a collab signing with the new game "date everything" They have themed drinks in addition to their normally to arge drink menu that includes both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. It's been a minute since we last visited here. Last night around close to 9. My family and I went trot some drinks. Menu has changed so it took us a min to pick what we wanted. I ordered with this guys with shoulder length hair and glasses with some facial hair. I ordered 3 teas, an ice cream Sundae, and coffee. Mid way into my order he told me to give him a second and repeated my order. I paid. As we waited for our first round of drinks, then the sundae, I was walking back and forth waiting and going to family member to family member. Mind you, the workers ALL SAW me pacing and I overheard one of the female workers asking if I was possibly missing something thing. When I asked the guy who took my order if my coffee was ready he said this, "OH! You ordered the coffee huh. I knew I forgot something and even my coworkers mentioned 'didn't she order a coffee?' I'm sorry let's go over here and charge you for that coffee." Charge me? You knew but didn't bother to let me know or even ask "Hey! Did we get all our things?" Or if you knew...why didn't you ask. I said, " Yes, you didn't see me pacing back and forth like a shark waiting for my drink? Haha."They all laughed. I was honestly upset I still had to pay after waiting for like nearly 20 min. I been coming to Requiem before COVID. This is my number one hang out spot whenever my friends want to play board games or catch up. I love them doing the collabs and having speciality drinks and food. It really makes this place special especially doing different events to keep the place not be dull. my only reason for it being 4 star is their cleanness. Their bathrooms need to be more clean and I know accidents happen but, the tables need to be wiped down especially if it's open and people want to sit down. It was a long wait to get in and they warned us ahead of time that they were out of almost everything. I was okay with that since I really just wanted a drink and to see the collab decor. The decor was cute. The entrance is very whimsical and the colored lighting provides a nice ambiance. The collab elements were small, but appreciated. I loved the standees. Unfortunately the drink (a brown sugar milk tea with chocolate and toasted marshmallow cold foam) that I did get -- and paid $9 for -- tasted like watered down milk with a little chocolate syrup. I tried stirring and that did nothing. They did not even add the decoration that makes it a special collab drink, so I felt thoroughly ripped off. This was a popular spot I've seen all over social media, I hadn't to check it out! We came on a weekday. The cafe is right in downtown Anaheim and close to Disneyland. It's right on the corner, you can't miss it with its unique, colorful, and cutesy decor outside. There is street parking is limited but available as well as a parking lot. The cafe is big and right next to another business, with two doors being close together. We walked into darkness. Once inside, we saw there was dim lighting with some lanterns hung up on the trees and tables. This is what you immediately see when you walk in. It's almost like a nook; almost seems magical and fairy like. I saw that the cafe was sectioned off, with a stage, item shop, gaming area, and a front counter. There were a few people inside, and people kept coming in. We took a few minutes to decide what to get. They have menus available to look through as well as a wall menu. They have so many choices, like matcha, boba, refreshers, and coffee. For food items, I mainly saw breakfast related items like bagels. By the counter, I saw the pastry shelf and a calendar where they hold events and activities every week for the month. With help from the barista, I decided on the determination drink and a boba milk tea. The barista had said they specialize on their coffee drinks. While we waited, we went inside the item shop. There were stickers, pins, and figures available for sale. They also have a gaming room. The barista called my name and we went to get our drinks. They were good. This place is cool for many reasons! First, the overall atmosphere, ambiance and decor is definitely a vibe in itself. Lots of different types of seating. They have games you can grab and play. There is also a screen on the wall - you can watch people play video games. Second, if you like beverages that look colorful and are sweet, they def have that. I, myself didn't try any of those drinks because sugary drinks is not my thing. However, I did get a Sapporo (they have a couple beer options) and I ordered the cinnamon waffles which my kid enjoyed. They also have coffees and teas, as well as a few other food menu options. This wouldn't be the place I come to for food and drinks, personally. 100% for vibes and game play. My favorite part about this place is the "Gift Shop". They have some neat little things in there. The best part is the back gaming wall! They have gaming chairs, computers and screens for gameplay which you rent by the hour ...$5 I believe. You can bring your own games (if they have the system) or you can log in online to play. There are also tables back there. They also have a little complimentary art station where you can grab supplies are just create some stuff. I did this while my kid played games. Upon arriving, the interior is super cool but what sells it for me is the product and vibes it self. The video game scape-fairytopia X mid sommar nights dream decor and ambiance are magical every time I visit. I always come at night because that's when it's coolest. I'm so intrigued with all their unique drinks, especially now that there's alcohol. But there are still plenty of regular teas and refreshers and coffees for any younger folks visiting. I love the salted butterfly tea drink, I definitely appreciate their ingenuity in drink flavor profiles! Staff are so kind, but does take a while to receive your orders. Our first visit to Requiem will, unfortunately, be our last. For me to say this place was an "anticipointment" would be an understatement. I had high hopes for what appeared to be a unique and whimsical café experience, but what I encountered fell flat in almost every aspect except for the ambiance. Let's start with the positive: the ambiance. I genuinely appreciated the dream-like aesthetic of the space. The décor was cozy, surreal, and immersive--it felt like stepping into a fantasy novel. They clearly put a lot of thought into creating an environment that was otherworldly and inviting, and I respect that. It's the one element of the visit that I can say I enjoyed. Unfortunately, everything else about the experience left much to be desired. The staff was, without a doubt, the biggest disappointment. From the moment my wife and I walked in, we felt ignored. This was our first visit, so naturally, we wanted a little guidance. When we approached the cashier and asked for recommendations, we were met with an awkward, blank stare. The cashier then turned and began chatting with a co-worker, a girl standing halfway out of the kitchen. It felt as if we weren't even there. After asking again, we were still met with silence and the same blank expression. Finally, we gave up and made our own decisions. We ordered the "Determination" and the "Bonfire," hoping for something special. It wasn't until after we placed the order that the cashier said, "Good choice, those are our most popular drinks." A little enthusiasm or guidance before we ordered would have gone a long way. The wait for our drinks was another letdown. We stood there for about 20 minutes while watching the staff in the back laughing, skipping around, and seemingly having a good time with each other. Meanwhile, we stood awkwardly at the counter, waiting for what felt like forever. When the drinks finally arrived, they were underwhelming, to say the least. Both were bitter and left an unpleasant taste in our mouths. We couldn't tell if it was the coffee, the milk, or some other ingredient, but neither drink was enjoyable. By the time we got back to our car, we didn't even consider returning to have the drinks remade. We were so disheartened by the entire experience that we just wanted to move on. The trip wasn't worth it, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. At least now I can say I've been to Requiem, but that's the only silver lining. If they spent half as much effort on customer service and drink quality as they do on the ambiance, this place could have been a gem. Instead, it was a frustrating and forgettable experience that left a bitter taste--both literally and figuratively. read more

i love coming here either on the weekends or after work! the ambiance is one of the coolest things i've seen. very modestly put together but it still captures a whimsical, nerdy, anime vibe that we all know and love. the food items hit good when you're craving something to eat but it's the sparkling stamina portion that is my go-to order every time! the staff is always very nice and personable as well! i also love that there's a little shopping space that you can peruse while you wait for your order to be called on the intercom. i've definitely purchased a few gifts from there! read more

We stopped in on our way home from Knotts. It is a quiet and cozy little place with fun ambiance. It is Pride month and you are invited message, drawing, or your n pronouns on the flag shaped board. We all had a variety of beverages and snacks. The Tixedo coffee, iced, was an eye opener with excellent mix of flavor and had the perfect amount of ice for me. For a Digital Circus fan, it was an ABSOLUTE honor to visit this first and ONLY Pop-Up Café here in the U.S! The drinks were fun and cleverly themed, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the artist alley was PACKED with cool merch! And of course, the cardboard cutouts photo-ops that we got to meet were the TRUE highlights! Absolutely loved everyone's energy and the welcoming atmosphere of the place! Even without the theme, this definitely seems like a chill hangout spot for anyone into anything nerdy! read more

I've been frequenting Requiem a few times a month (sometimes multiple times a week) for the past couple years. It's a fun vibe, with cool events and collabs from time to time. My friends and I like to step into the shop area next to the cafe to play board games or MTG. Some nights are more busy than others but the staff is always kind and attentive. My partner is more apt to the food as they don't have a large kitchen area and I'm not always into sweets. But, the times I have had food, the treats and snacks they make are quite good. Definitely a place I'll continue to come back to. read more

We were waiting outside for 3 hours for the Digital Circus Event. We were informed we could wait in line in the hopes that we would make it in during the half hour marks but after waiting in the sun with little to no update about whether we'd ever make it in we left. My friend went inside to use the bathroom and the cafe didn't look very full. I think that's what disappointed us the most, I wish they'd been honest with us about the wait times and about the capacity inside. I understand there were a lot of fans but the cafe's inability to handle the crowds proves they aren't equipped enough to handle these type of events. Not only did walk in's wait for a long time but people who RSVP and PAYED to RSVP were also made to wait for some time. Anytime we wanted updated we received the same script, RSVP's would be let in every hour and at the half hour after that 10 walk in's would be allowed in. When considering whether to leave this review or not I scrolled through the reviews and noted the owners responses, denying all accountability and instead blaming the customers and outright denying that there were any issues at all. I really wish we'd have had a better experience and I do hope the cafe can do a better job. read more
