A couple of years ago ReRack installed roof racks on our car, and when we recently planned a kayak trip and considered adding a Thule J-style kayak rack the store not only had one in stock but quickly installed it, also showed us how to uninstall it. Later that day after put up our kayaks and realized we couldn't use the J-style rack (height problem with our Washington state ferry reservations), we called ReRack and asked if we could return it. Went in to get a hullavator a couple of weeks ago. Casper helped me out and it turned out that I needed a rack addition to the one I have on my Outback. I asked if it would be possible to get it installed that day and he said he could do it after finding all of the parts needed. He got it installed for me and it looked great! It ended up being a combination of new and used items. One of the other employees said they upgraded the Hullavator because the one I purchased wouldn't work with the crossbars I got. It was really great customer service. I do have two things though, just because someone doesn't put down a tip on their credit card doesn't mean they aren't going to give a tip, some of us know it's better to get the cash instead. I could tell that they didn't expect anything. It was kind of a weird transaction when getting my car keys back. Also, it seems to be whistling quite loudly, I don't think it's supposed to, I might take it back and see if they fix that problem. I was thinking that maybe that's why some people get rid of their racks because they are loud. But asking around I've found that other people do t have that problem. So a really good experience, just hope they can fix the whistle? read more

Guy I dealt with was super nice, walked out to my vehicle with a set of master keys (dunno how many in the set, maybe fifty?) and started trying the keys, one by one by one. Great store for Yakima racks. I could not find a part (replacement foot packs) the rubber at the bottom of the racks anywhere. I found their store online. They had the part I needed and were able to ship it to me very quickly. I was getting worried, because the old rubber padding was disintegrating from Sun, rain & salt and I was thinking I have to buy brand new racks if I can't find padding for the cars roof. The process was quick, my order went in and a few days later my package arrived. Brought my Yakima Skybox here after it sat outside unused for 15 years, in preparation for a 3k-mi road trip. It was missing a few parts, some were rolling around inside the box, and I was about ready to just get rid of it and buy a basket instead. Alejandro walked me through how each part worked, how it all went together, and what parts were missing. He searched the back and the shop didn't have any and the box and parts were discontinued by Yakima, but he showed me what little bolts to look for instead of having to buy entirely new attachments, and what nuts to get if I couldn't find bolts. I actually found said bolts in a furniture section at my local hardware store (always think outside the box), brought eeeverything back to ReRack, and he helped me reassemble the whole thing! I feel confident in this thing for the first time since I bought it. The guys here are great, and will always take care of you if you come in with questions and an open mind. Alejandro helped me get this $6-800 (new replacement) box back on the road for under $10 and I left feeling pleased and relieved. This was one more nightmare I didn't want to deal with in the grand scheme of moving across the continent, and Alejandro and ReRack made it super easy. read more

Absolutely the best customer experience I've ever had! I went to re-rack with the parts for my Yakima rack. I was missing the top-plate for one of the 4 housings that the 2 bars sit on, since it had been in storage for a long time. I went in, the guy greeted me, and as soon as he figured out my issue he said "I'll just give you one of those" and went and got the piece. Then he said "let's check the rest of the setup to see if there's anything else missing" and walked out to my car with me. We saw a missing end cap, so he went back in, fished one out for me, and also just gave that to me, no charge. Now my rack is again fully functional and I didn't have to spend a penny. This is the kind of place that makes Portland a great city -- people taking pride in what they do, wanting to share their knowledge, doing it small-scale and local. Truly fantastic customer service! I had some questions about a couple of products on their website (I am shopping from another state) and filled out the "Contact Us" form. I had a detailed response back within 30 minutes. I replied with a tweak to my first question and heard back immediately. The next day, when I made my order, I got a phone call almost immediately from John at ReRack. He just wanted to make sure I knew that one of the parts I had ordered was actually already included with another aspect of the order. I didn't know, and it saved my 20 buck. And this is 20 bucks that ReRack could have easily chosen to make off of me. I was completely impressed. Wish I could give this zero stars. ReRack sold me faulty rack setup, which fell completely apart after a few days. After reaching out to customer service. They ask what I was using it on and they refused to accept a return or give me a refund. ReRack has HORRIBLE customer service (Brendan) they refuse to help or resolve the matter. ReRack is a rip-off, please steer away and shop locally instead. I also was NOT offered a solution. read more

My Thule cargo box was smacked on top by a flying cow (no kidding) scooped up by the low sloping nose of my 2002 Odyssey. Both latch arms that hold the cover down broke due to the impact. These nice folks had some they'd taken off (along with hinges) from old boxes. Thule won't sell these riveted-on parts. Silly to junk an otherwise perfectly good 22 year old(!) cargo box. Drill out rivets, add some stainless HW, back in business. Thanks tons, ReRack!!! read more

I called to get a quote on a class 3 tow hitch. They told me I had to drive to the store to fill out paperwork to order the hitch that will cost me $600. Am I dealing with somebody's grandfather who can't take an order over the phone or does this company truly not understand that time is money? This extra step is a total turn off and IS causing me to take my business elsewhere. You might want to consider changing your business practices. read more

First experience here buying and having a roof basket installed was fine. Stopped by again to ask about options for having a rack system installed using the hard tonneau panels on my Chevy Avalanche. The panels are thick and very strong - I walk across them to load the roof basket and clean the roof. My thinking was if a rack system can be installed across all kinds of vehicles with curved roofs that would likely dent if you walked on them, the flat, strong tonneau panels should work too to hold gear and even better. The person at ReRack working the counter said she would go get an installer to come out and talk to me. A few minutes later she came out to the parking lot and said the installer said it can't be done. I asked if they could come out and look at my truck and the response was they were busy and it can't be done. This was last year and I was prompted to write this review after driving by and seeing their large 'free advice' ad on the building. That's exactly the value of the advice I received. I subsequently had a better customer service experience at Rack Attack but their offer was to drill into the truck bed at an expensive exploratory rate. Um, no. Fast forward to my doing some online research, ordering Yakima Q towers, clips and bars and completing a super easy at home install of my rack system across my truck bed (with no drilling!). After a 4,200 plus mile road trip this past Spring successfully using the rack system to secure a large storage bag (roof bag) full of camping gear I can say for sure IT CAN BE DONE :) I've since seen other Avalanche owners have Thule racks and some DIY racks to carry bikes, camping gear or construction gear. So thanks ReRack for saving me a lot of money, (especially the generous tip I would have given to the installer) and prompting a fun project to prove you wrong. It'd be 1 star since the installer wouldn't even come out or ask for me to come back at a less busy time, but the first visit there to get a roof basket went ok when they didn't have to think outside the box. read more

10 years ago I sold my cargo box at what I felt was a fair price and today I purchased a new one, again at what I felt was a fair price. The way I am treated at ReRack makes me doubt I would ever go anywhere els. Not only was my cargo box installed free of charge but I got all the correct info so I could stay safe. Information like max weight limit was explained too me. Why anyone would order online when the price is cheaper at ReRack is beyond me? And did I mention the have warranty protection? It was wonderful to have a positive experience in Portland and in closing I would say that the shop dog really seals the deal. You heard me correct, you can pet the shop dog as you wait.
