About a decade ago I started using these guys - and as you can tell I keep coming back. they have Very Good customer service, they're growing as a company, and you get an honest quality install for an honest dollar. I'm an outdoors man - My long-bed and I have spent countless hours on washboard gravel roads. Everyone knows, these shake the hell outta your truck. I also sleep in the back of my truck and the insulated canopy they installed in 2016 has yet to leak, In fact, the insulation is still tight & fresh as it was on day 1. The overhead LED lights inside the canopy have yet to stop working. All of this speaks to their craftsmanship & quality parts. The power-steps finally gave out after a decade of use, so it was time to replace them. I was given the option between the cheaper overseas version, or the USA built version. It's nice to get price options and their expertise on the level of quality. As part of the install they noticed a cracked end cap for one of the steps. (I would have never noticed it on my own) Anyhow, they called it out, already have a replacement on the way from the factory, and when the part arrived - they were able to a do a 'while you wait' replacement. They set me up with a full OME suspension kit on my 1998 XJ Cherokee. Made it clear if I was going to spend that much on the kit, that I wanted it as level as possible (a lot of folks having issues getting the leaf springs on the OME XJ kits to sit level). They managed to get it perfectly level after a bit of settling. Not sure what they're doing that the folks on all the cherokee forums aren't, but it looks absolutely perfect. Exactly 2.5" of lift, which is what OME states you should get. The part markup is very minimal, and it's clear they know their way around an XJ. Let me know all of the potential complications up front and (mercifully) didn't run into any of them. No wobble, either. Great folks, took their time to explain everything and walk me through the parts needed. Provided a detailed invoice. Very fair prices on the parts and labor, and very experienced. Recommendation: DON'T go here. Find somewhere else because they're careless and aren't that meticulous with their work. I wish I can give negative stars because it's not exactly cheap to pay someone to fix your car and find out the idiots can't do their jobs right for what you paid. Plain and simple. You can mess up doing your own work and be more proud of your car than to bring it here and get it done. The reason why is because even if you messed up, you know you're an amateur fixing your car... for a professional... think about it. I know a lot of people complain about auto mechanics on Yelp and frankly some of them don't know what they are talking about. I know what I'm talking about. Before I walk into any mechanic shop, I do countless amount of research. Also, I can do my own work, the only reason why I ended up here is because of timeframe. This shop messed up on my bump stops when I provided them the installation instructions... I had to fix it... I also handed them a set of shocks, all 4 corners, they even did this wrong provided the instructions as well. Why trust a mechanic shop that can't read? I would mention their names if it weren't for my small brain forgetting them. I took in my Jeep Gladiator to get a 3/4 inch leveling kit installed to make up for lost weight from winch and steel bumper. It was just a very pleasant experience. While the team at Accessory Outfitters was kind and their assistance in the shop was informative and thorough, they significantly overcharged me for their labor and far exceeded their quoted price. Of course, they were more than happy to make time to service my vehicle; but they misled me regarding how much I might expect to pay and arbitrarily added several hundred dollars on their invoice. When I confronted them about this, they were incredibly patronizing and dismissive. And even while one employee in the shop said "I could have been more forthcoming, you're right," they didn't offer to reduce the total cost of the invoice or honor their initial quoted price in any way. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for any accessories or services. read more

Because I can't give zero stars... Buckle up, this is going to be a long rant with several details... I made an appointment at this place for 1 pm on a Wednesday to have a high clearance cut done to my front bumper, and to get a light bar installed over my windshield and wired to a rocker switch panel on my dash. When I arrived, literally every one of their technicians was on lunch at the same time, while one of them was just sitting on a supply box talking to the desk woman. I waited for AN HOUR to talk with anyone about the project while the only other employee not on lunch was on the computer helping a woman shop for parts. FOR AN HOUR. The employee on lunch sitting behind the desk, in my presence, said to the desk woman, "iIm going to take every minute of this lunch because I'm working 12-hour days. If a business is short-staffed they have an obligation to just say no to new appointments they know they can't handle. They were supposed to call me with an update before closing at 5 pm, they didn't. They didn't call me the next morning, I called them. They called me back 30 minutes later saying they hadn't even started on the light bar yet, hadn't even drilled the holes for the brackets. They also said they were having trouble installing the switch panel, but again, hadn't even called me to discuss it. When I got there, the bumper cut was HORRID - uneven, wavy cut, not even sanded down to smooth it out. The technician was shouting obscenities at the top of his lungs because he has cut my dash and attempted to install the switch panel only to discover a metal support beam behind it. He discovered it because the last screw wouldn't go all the way in, NOT because they did the sensible thing and take the dash cover off to inspect where they would be doing the wiring for it. And they melted a small part of my dash with the heat of their cutting tool. I told them to stop immediately, took my keys, and angrily drove off without any paperwork or payment. All they offered as compensation was ordering a new dash cover and making me come back weeks later to receive it. Now I have to drop $230 for a bumper replacement to try again. Beyond incensed. and can't believe "professionals" can do such a poor job of communication, poor quality of work, and poor time management accepting new appointments. Stay away from this seedy little shop on the backstreets of Aloha. Word to the wise: Always *call* if you haven't heard from the shop in hours after dropping off the vehicle. The only silver lining is that I stopped them from even starting on the light bar install and possible saved hundreds of dollars more in potential issues. read more

A year ago I needed my '06 Rubicon lifted - gave Patrick a very high price point cuz I wanted the best (I actually use my Jeep for it's intended purpose). One year later I've had to have the stabilizers replaced and just recently had to have the shocks replaced with the high performance Ranchos I was supposed to have to begin with. What I paid ($6,000!) for and what I got are two very different things. I've never gotten the itemization for the work/parts I asked for several times either. There have been multiple issues with the lift - all due to truly crappy equipment. But Patrick was happy to massively overcharge me. I'm so pissed after this last expenditure of new shocks, I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back. If you're like me - don't know enough about accessories you need for your off-road ride - don't go to Accessory Outfitters. I had to trust Patrick was doing right by me - he didn't by a long shot. Hope they enjoyed the snickers they no doubt had while happily cashing my check. But at least I've learned - although it was expensive as hell. There are some amazing off-road outfitters around. Great guys and pretty knowledgeable. Took my jeep in to get some ideas for a suspension swap. Saved me some money with their advise. Recommended a tuner and dramatically improved ride quality (ESP). I'll certainly be back to get some things. Slightly better prices online for suspension components but I don't mind paying a little extra to support local business. My first time at the shop. Accessory Outfitters agreed to install my Dr. KDSS mod in my 2022 4Runner ORP with KDSS. This mod allows me to enable and disable KDSS with the push of a button. Installation appears to be clean and the mod functions exactly as I expected. I felt the labor charge was too high in my opinion, but the end result is worth it to me. I walked in today to get some basic info on pricing, and products and services offered there. The guy that helped me was a class a jerk, would not provide any space to browse goods, he did ask me what I was looking to do but after providing him what I was interested in he would not provide any pricing and proceeded to be-little and browbeat my choices, followed by a long awkward stare, so I just left. I had my ARB snorkel installed earlier this year by these folks. They did a great job and it was reasonably priced! They kept the labor time to what they quoted it to be, you don't see that in some shops. They are more than happy to research modifications and provide written quotes as well. Accessory Outdfitters took the time to get my rig to where it needed to be and are willing to work with me down the line should I need further help as I learned lifts & custom mods are not easy. After the first adjustment to the front shocks, they still were not setting right for the cv boots. Patrick corrected the issue without charging me, which was very kind hearted and much appreciated. I went in there to order a part for my truck as the manufacturer emailed me that I had to order through a dealer. There was no one in the store except for the guy at the counter. He was yapping to his buddy over the phone about what he did over the weekend. I literally stood in front of him for about 3 minutes. Yes, 3 minutes. That's a long time looking at the guy over the counter 2 feet away. He finally got off the phone. I told him exactly what I needed. He states he needs to order it. I asked him how much and he wasn't sure but he guessed about $100. umm, no, didn't think so, there is no way on earth that part costs that much as I have bought it before, so I left and called a different dealer who quoted me $60 which I thought was about right. I don't want to make a judgement on the business based on one ass clown that works there. Who knows, he might be an owner, but he is one shitty businessman who doesn't know how to respectfully treat a customer or act professionally. I would never set foot in this business again and having had this experience, would never recommend this business to anyone. If he can't stop yapping on the phone when the customer is physically present or quote a correct price, I would not trust the business to do any work on my truck, end of story. read more

The 2004 Ranger I just bought came with an A.R.E. camper shell that was in good shape, but had shifted a bit and the foam tape needed to be replaced. Went through the list of A.R.E. dealers in and around the Portland Area and e-mailed them all with the details of my fairly simple job (included the type of vehicle, model of A.R.E. shell, etc). Even though Accessory Outfitters was by far the furthest shop from my house, Patrick's response to my simple query was detailed, professional and explained exactly what the work would cost and how long it would take. Every other shop came back with quote ranges and generic responses. I ended up with some free time yesterday, called up the shop and they said to just bring my truck right in. The job was done in less than the quoted time (barely took 45 minutes) and Patrick and his crew were a pleasure to work with and clearly very knowledgeable. I picked Patrick's brain for quite a while and was very impressed with his ability to talk to a novice like me without talking down to me, as I've experienced in a few other area 4x4 shops. When it comes time for future upgrades I'll be back at this shop as a first choice and this shop is on my very short go-to list of places that I know can work on my truck. Accessory Outfitters is 2 for 2 with me. Patrick is a cool guy, very knowledgable and goes the extra mile for a customer. A.O. has put suspension lowering kits on 2 of my vehicles. When I had my Chrysler, I hadn't ordered the kit at the time I was looking at shops to do the install. I went over what I was going to do, and the kit I wanted, Patrick advised me to buy my kit thru Eibach since he couldn't touch the price which saved me money up front. The work was done in a day and that little PT handled like a GTI. That car is gone, and when it came time to lower my Ram, I got the same competitive price and an install done right. Yes, some fly by nite shop might be able to undercut the labor costs, but A.O. takes pride in their work and will take care of your rig. Oh and in both cases, scheduling conflicts meant that neither of my buddys who live close could give me a lift to or from the shop. Both times when I asked if someone could run me back to my work or my house the answer was 'sure, no problem!' Granted, I live and work very close to the shop, but that's besides the point. Once again, these guys deliver for me. This is the third time I've had them work on my 16' 4Runner. They did a complete front-end rebuild including a winch as well as a Rhino rack and CVT tent install. They were ahead of schedule and even worked with me after the install to figure out a way to quickly mount/detach the CVT tent from my roof. These guys are awesome! Was traveling up to Canada and randomly broke down near their shop. Patrick was driving down the street and noticed me broken down in my trailblazer SS. Essex has not been very user friendly with their defective merchandise that i had installed on my car and replaced 3 times in the past 5 years. Patrick is one of their only dealers in Oregon and stepped in to receive a new key panel for me and install it, test it and guarantee it only charging me for labor.
