We enjoyed our quick one night stay! Great location! 10 minute walk to millennium Park and 10 minute walk to the theater district. The room was clean and stylish, with a kitchenette and a coffee maker. The first thing I check in ANY hotel room is for clean sheets and linens. The bathroom and shower are spacious and clean. The whole building felt clean, stylish, cozy. Room rates include a complimentary breakfast buffet with eggs, meats, hot oatmeal, fruits, breads, hot coffee. We will be back! read more

I was visiting for the weekend for my anniversary. We stayed Thursday to Sunday and had a good experience. We got a 1 bedroom suite that had basically a full kitchen and pull out couch bed. The bed was comfortable, the couch was not. The cushions were quite thin and I would guess that when the bed is pulled out that it would butt up right against the dresser/tv stand. The bedroom was small enough that there was no dresser in there, just the one in the living room. No biggie for just the 2 of us. Bathroom was clean and everything in good repair. The only noise we experienced was being near the housekeeping rooms and service elevator. Again, not a big deal. I would like to point out that they must have recently increased the valet parking rate. We were given a card that showed the rate as $70 but when we had arrived, found that they covered the rate with a paper showing as $78/night for our stay. The free breakfast was satisfactory with a fair amount of choices. Location is good, but it is a business district. So not a lot of late night options. Target is maybe 2-3 blocks away and 7-11 is just around the corner. We walked to Millineum Park without issue. Would stay here again but hope to find another Marriott hotel in a more lively section of downtown. read more

This is our second stay at the Residence Inn Chicago downtown/loop. First and foremost the staff has been extremely accommodating and polite, professional and genuinely nice! As you arrive on the second floor, check in, the lobby is clean and attractive. On this floor you can enjoy sitting in the lounge to relax, pull up a chair at the bar in the evening and have a complimentary breakfast (hot and cold foods) in the morning. The rooms are nice size with a kitchen, microwave/oven and cooktop along with dishes and pots for cooking. Full size fridge great for longer stays (which we do when we are in Chicago visiting family). There is a nice desk as I often work remotely a few of the days when we are in town and there is a separate bedroom with a door that provides privacy and a bit of quiet when I'm up working early and the better half is still asleep. There is a workout facility on site as well. I will continue to come back to this hotel for our regular trips to Chicago based on the above as well as its convenient location. read more

I got a good opportunity to use most of the amenities of the hotel during my 10 day stay. The rooms are a little fucky if you have an inside room. I was on the ss second floor which required two sets of elevators. The room windows were opaque so I could see out. The laundry room was very clean and functional. The machines take credit cards which is fantastic! The only miss is the soap machine requires quarters. Why not make everything electronic? That's a miss. The gym had just enough equipment to get a nice workout completed. All of the treadmills and ellipticals were divided by plastic. I had a hard time signing in to track my workouts with the QR code. The cleaning crew was on point, they always left extra towels and made sure I had enough soaps and paper towels. The front desk and staff at breakfast was very cool and helpful. read more

I have been to Chicago 4x for work and have stayed at 4 different hotels each time. I have yet to find one that I thought was good enough to come back to. I think the Residence Inn might be the one. First, the front desk staff are so nice. I checked in around 11am and they had a room for me. I even got an upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite! The room is very nice, the water pressure absolutely phenomenal. They also have free breakfast in the mornings! The location is also pretty good, it's mostly a business area, I think, so not a lot of cafe options open on the weekend, but if you're here for work on a weekday, it's solid. The first reason we chose to stay at this hotel because it only take around 10mins by walking from train station and restaurants nearby. We arrived by train around noon so we really appreciated the hotel let us check in early. Room is located on 21st floor, spacious and plenty of rooms for my toddler to play. Breakfast was surprisingly very good, fill up regularly and the sever comes by very often to clear dirty plates. The shower in bathroom is ok except the water leaks constantly when shower is on, dripping on the metal drain and it got quite loud and not even stop right away even after you turn off water. It would stop after 2-3 mins after turn off water. Recommend one more hook for towel or clothes as the whole bathroom only has 1 hook. Elevator had a long wait on Sunday. We waited like 10mins just to go back to the room after breakfast. We still enjoy our stay and look forward to another future stay when we use the train again. read more

Brittany and Taylor greeted me warmly and I was able to check in at 9am. Ahmad was also great in extending my reservation. Good breakfast. Lots of options but options stay pretty consistent if you are there for multiple days. I would like to see some variation from day to day. My only complaint was I did not get a requested upgrade as a platinum elite member, so my view was of a brick wall. I would have liked a view of the water. I stayed at this residence Inn by Marriott in Chicago for three nights in October. I had to be let in by the security guard at first because the doors were locked and you need a key card for entry. I was directed to the elevator where I needed to check in. This is a hotel where, it is my favorite set up, but, you have to go to another floor to check in and then go to your room. I always get annoyed when I find hotels like this just because I feel like it is somewhat unnecessary considering the hotel is the only thing in this building. Once on the second floor I waited to be checked in and I was greeted by a lovely associate who gave me the lowdown of the hotel. There is a snack bar off to the side where you can have items charge to your room such as wine beer chips and other snacks. There was a breakfast available from 6 AM to 9 AM but I did not go to try it. There is no valet available so you have to self park across the street. The hotel will give you your own parking pass which is charged to your room for in and out privileges my check out was at 4 PM and they let me use the parking garage until 5 PM the same day as my check out. If you do not move your car after that you will be charged the hourly rate. After checking in I was able to go to my room on the 10th floor. The residence in room was a one bedroom suite which had a full kitchen, living space, king bed and a huge shower. I wasn't a fan of the lighting since it was more yellow than the white and felt a little dreary inside. Having before refrigerator was great since I was there a few days and I could go and stock up on snacks and other food items to save myself money. The kitchen had a large bar on it that I could use as a desk since I was working remotely from the hotel. Since I am a bonvoy member i was able to access the premium WiFi for free. The hotel was seemingly quiet. I didn't see many people while i was there. There is no real view from any floor since they aren't higher than any other building nearby. It was clean which is huge right now and I enjoyed my stay completely. read more

OMG, this hotel was great! I did a lot of research into hotels before my trip as I was nervous about finding a decently priced hotel, that still felt luxurious and romantic, and I am happy to say that it paid off, because I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. We booked a standard room, the cheapest available, and were surprised to see it had a beautiful kitchen, sofa, TV, bed, large bathroom with shower, and everything we could need. For the price, we were super surprised and grateful for how upscale our stay felt. What made me especially love my stay was the free continental breakfast :) So much variety of food!!!! We stayed at the Residence inn by Marriott hotel in Chicago, the loop, with my wife and my other friend, who came with his wife to celebrate both of our anniversaries. Before this trip, I called the hotel and Marriott customer service multiple times to see if this hotel offers any anniversary packages. Marriott's customer service offered us a complimentary upgrade because they said some packages might not be available around the holiday season. Let me tell you about our worst hotel and customer service experience. We walked in on December 26th, 2022 to your hotel at 11:16 PM; Bria was at the counter, and she wasn't really happy, which is ok; I understand this is late night. Based on her behaviors, I noticed that maybe she is new to this job. I greeted her nicely and told her this was our first time in Chicago and first time in your hotel, and quietly told her to look at the notes from the customer service agent and the person who added notes at your hotel because we wanted to surprise our wives. She brought her supervisor or manager to the counter from the back, and his name was Sam. Sam didn't even look at us or greet us the entire time. The real customer service is "Hello, Mr.customer or Hello, Dear, welcome to our hotel; what can I do for you? " anyways after that, He started saying something in Bria's ears that we can't upgrade the room, and we can't honor the anniversary package, and he said something to Bria to force us to buy something, and he left. Bria had difficulty translating sam's conversation, and she said, no, we couldn't upgrade you and do the anniversary package. Right after we got into rooms, I called Marriott corporate. After being on the call for 1 hour on the same night, the supervisor promised to email your management team so they could move us to another room and provide us with whatever we needed since no service was provided to us that night. We walked into our rooms 1504 and 1503. Room 1503 water was not working, and we had to go down and see if we could get another room, so they moved us to 1502. Room 1504- -the hand moisturizer was used, and the bottle was half empty. -blanket sheet was dirty, and there was a stain on it. Room 1502: - Blood stain on the blanket (Picture attached) - no room service -Thursday 29, 2022) We walked into the lobby and asked the person on the counter to send room service and replace our towels, and the girl took a note. We returned to our room at 9:00 PM nothing was done; there was no room service and towels. My Friend from another room also requested the same service, and he didn't get anything. He walked into the lobby to complain, and SAM was on the counter; he asked to see another manager because SAM was super rude to us the first time. Someone else came. Her name was (Dimitris not sure how to spell it). She was nice. Whatever my friend said, sam was like I will talk to Mr.Van regarding to your concerns, but he is currently on vacation for the past few days. He looked into my friend's eye and lied. We saw Tummie in the breakfast area for the past 2 or 3 days with all of your other staff, and this guy SAM who is the supervisor lies to us in our faces. The first and last point of contact is the lobby counter, and if we get a terrible first expression, you are done guests will not be happy for the rest of the time that they stay there. If someone doesn't want to work the night shift, they should either work the day shift or quit their job. Please read how many complaints about this hotel's night crew and customer service. I grabbed GM's name Tummie when he was at breakfast time, and I didn't want to bring the blanket with blood stains to the breakfast area and make a scene in front of so many guests. After Emailing the Hotel General Manager, Tummie, we received nothing, so we had to come up to him at breakfast time, but since he knows how to play his game, he said I'm still investigating because he didn't want to say anything in front of other guests. Right after everyone left for breakfast, he called our room instead of coming and knocking on our room and asking us to come down to talk to him. He talked for almost 15-20 minutes and said, "I couldn't give a $1000 per night room to someone who only paid $100 per night, I care about my hotel profit, and I can't upgrade". At one point, he said he was traveling, and he got tired of his wife, so he came back to work. What kind of talk is this? This came from someone who cares about people or doesn't even care about his family. I talked to him regarding the reviews, and he was like, "I read all the reviews, and all of them are for the height of the hotel, which I can't do anything about it; I can't raise this building to get a better view for our guests." He is just covering up his staff; I'm not sure if Sam, who was at the front counter, may be his cousin or daughter's husband or something. We stayed six days at this hotel, and no upgrade or anniversary package was provided. read more

Haunted? This is our second Chicago hotel that we had an experience. Let me know if anyone else has had experiences here. Parking is not great here like many downtown hotels. It we had to walk a couple blocks to park and no valet(covid?) the luggage cart was the weak style and the lobby is not on the ground floor. We rolled in kinda late. The doorman was nice enough and the front desk too. I really liked the kitchen and living room. The double queen room was decent enough but that was were we had the multiple encounters. There is a old church with a huge Jesus statue in the window view. That might have helped me sleep. The bed linens were clean and comfortable. The restroom was ok too. I don't think I would stay there again unless we were to do some ghost hunting. Eek read more

We have a wonderful stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott. My husband travels a lot, and this is his favorite chain hotel because of all of the amenities included that make travel easier. For this trip, we were there just for fun. The check-in staff and security staff on the entrance floor were all very friendly and helpful. This location is very close to shopping and several restaurants which is nice. Our room was solid and clean, I like the kitchenette (a refrigerator is always nice for leftovers) and living room-type space that comes with the Residence Inn. My favorite part of the Residence Inn is that it includes a breakfast. Because of the Chicago location, this one had an incredibly nice breakfast with many choices including more than one vegan and vegetarian option. Breakfast was absolutely delicious each morning and included with the cost of the room which is a great service. We had a car with us and parking was expensive, but not crazy, and could be validated by the hotel to reduce cost on more expensive weekends. I would absolutely stay here again for a weekend in the city or a business trip as needed. read more

I had very low expectations because 2 weeks prior I was in a dump of a homewood suites so I was assuming another overused, sad hotel. I was so wrong!! We were warmly greeted upon entering and directed to the check in desk one floor up. Check in was a breeze and the desk clerk even gave us free bottled water for our cpap machines. Saved us a trip to the 7-11 around the corner. Room was clean and well appointed. Comfy bed, great shower and it felt like it had been updated recently. Hotel guests can order from the Roanoke restaurant at the bar and eat it there or get it to go in the room. Food was excellent. Breakfast was better than average and there were plenty of choices. Staff was helpful and kind every time I had a question. I will stay here again. read more

My recent hotel experience here was disappointing. I stayed in an Executive Suite, which was quite comfortable. The challenge was with the housekeeping. Upon walking through the room when I arrived I discovered dirty socks and cracker crumbs everywhere. They did come a clean again, however if this was missed it calls into question how well they really are cleaning. They never wiped down the shower during my stay---and I was there for six days. I had to do this myself., One day when I returned from a meeting ,I returned to the same dirty dishes in the sink that were there in the morning. I could go on, but why. I was so frustrated, for my final days I just did not have housekeeping come at all and did my suite myself. Suffice it to say, Chicago has a plethora of hotels. Exercise your choices. read more

Sorry for being so inactive lately, I suffered a great fall and had to stay in a few extra hotels, which I will be reviewing. First off, this hotel was wonderful to stay at, although there were two things that irked me the ring way. My son was staying with us as well, so he had to use the pull out couch bed. Once set up, he said that the bed was hardly one. I sat down and immediately got a shot up my scoliosis-formed back. You can feel the wired and metal poles underneath the couch, as if the mattress isn't ever there. Another complaint has got to be the microwave. When we arrived, it was clear that it was not cleaned prior. The outside was greasy and the inside was filled with gunk. We had to clean it ourselves, which was not great for my husband's arthritis. On the bright side, the beds were very comfortable and there were enough outlets for our family. We were in a great location, it was within walking distance of many great eateries. The breakfast here was amazing, there were so many options to choose from. The elevators might have been the best part of this hotel. They were ALWAYS clean, which in my experiences, is rare. The voice in the elevator is very soothing to me, and it always makes sure that I know where I'm headed. The staff here was very polite and sweet, they are always there for you when you need something. Overall, this experience was great, and I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone who wants a high quality hotel with high quality features. read more

So no waiting ! 2 things my wish...1 is if they have bath robe, 2 if they have yoga mat in a room. Any way this is very close to many theaters so if winter time come will be fine. I really love here! The hotel is located right in the middle of everything that is downtown Chicago with great restaurants nearby the river and there's this big old lake just up the road Check in was professional and courteous with great staff on hand. The restaurant on the 2nd floor has some great food and gets very busy at lunch time so that should tell you the food is good. Best food nearby you MUST try???? Il Porcellino on Hubbard Street... about a 10 minute walk and some of the best food in the city. read more

This is a good location if you work downtown. The suites are big and have full kitchen. It has counter space in the Kitchen area but not a desk. Being a short person, it was a bit uncomfortable to sit at the counter to work in the evenings. Breakfast was decent and the bar/restaurant in the evening is also good. This is probably the most welcomed hotel I have ever stayed. At the entrance, the employees were friendly. The receptionist Ross was great and very helpful. We stayed here a few nights while in town for a wedding and were thoroughly impressed. The central location is fabulous and puts you within walking distance of just about everything. The rooms were spacious and modern and we loved the fact that there was a small kitchen and free breakfast included every morning. Hollaaaaa. The breakfast area was crazy town and they had a nice variety of hot/cold foods. It was great not having to worry about breakfast in the morning. Overall, the room was great, the bed was comfortable, and the entire hotel seemed super clean. My only complaint is that the elevators are so. slowww. Other than that, highly recommend as your home base if you're in the area. read more

Very impressive for a Residence Inn! It felt more like a JW or full service Marriott. The dining room/lounge area is extremely large and offers a full bar (unique to Residence Inn). The gym was very large with both weights and lots of cardio equipment. The only thing they don't offer is a pool or hot tub. The staff was friendly and the room was nicely appointed. SIDE NOTE: I also learned this happens to be the largest Residence Inn in the US (as of 2016). I would definitely stay at this location again and recommend it to others. read more

Lobby smells amazing - I don't know what the scent is but ahhhh so refreshing. The guys doing valet are super friendly and accommodating. Check in was super quick and our room was spacious and clean. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good! Tortillas eggs sausage with cheese salsa and spinach then the usual bagels, bread, cereal and waffles. The only downfall is the system they have currently, is a fail because people are mad dogs for breakfast apparently! The plates should be next to the silverware in my opinion because people seemed confused on where to find them and being in between the hot food was odd because people were only forming one line when there could've been two. Maybe if someone in there directed people where to go for less chaos. I enjoyed my stay here! read more

My boyfriend and I have stayed in an ABUNDANCE of Marriott hotels throughout our lives, and this hotel was by far the WORST. It's nowhere close to a level 6 Marriott hotel. Here are some of the main complaints I had during our 4 night stay. - staff closed breakfast doors before 10/9:30 deadline when breakfast was supposed to end. Tied it with a cloth then proceeded to rush us out. A Marriott property should never allow this. It's classless. Not to mention they refused to refill the coffee for us because they were 'closed' even tho it was five minutes before it ended. She said they had run out of coffee, which was a lie. - Found a hair in my breakfast after we were rushed out the doors by the staff, so I didn't even get to eat. We gave up after that and ended up eating out for breakfast every morning. - Staff was extremely rude throughout the hotel. We had issues checking in as they couldn't find our reservation. The man was EXTREMELY rude until he finally pulled up our reservation and found out my boyfriend and i were ambassador status. - Elevator in the bell tower smelled like straight rotten cheese. They tried to spray some sort of febreeze in it which just made it smell even worse. - The rooms were mediocre at best. There was random crap on the walls throughout the whole room. I'll attach pictures below. - There were BOOGERS on the walls in the bathroom. How REPULSIVE!! - no communication throughout the staff. Had housekeeping knocking persistently at our door at 11:30 and when i opened the door said she thought we had checked out. We had late check out at 2pm. If we hadn't have been here she would've walked right in and could've had free range with all our valuables in the room. - doorknobs in the room were STICKY. It's almost as if they were not cleaned. I haven't been this disappointed in a Marriott property ever. I will never return to this hotel. I will be letting my ambassador know how horrid our stay was. Lots of way better properties to stay at around the city, even a motel 6 would be better than this hotel. read more

As others have written, the rooms are indeed relatively nice - but having stayed in hotels across the country, I am not sure my hotel experience could have been much worse than the Residence Inn Chicago Downtown. I prepaid my reservation online and arrived around 10:30pm at the hotel to check in. I was told by the front desk clerk at the time that "your card did not go through" for room payment and that I needed to provide another credit card for a room charge in addition to my credit card hold for incidentals. I indicated that I had prepaid, but the clerk insisted that the card "did not go through." When I checked out the next morning, I asked the front desk clerk to verify that I would not be double charged, and was concerned that the hotel had collected a new credit card from me. The clerk assured me that I would not be double charged and even printed out a zero-balance invoice for me. Two days later, I found out (without receiving notification from Marriott) that I was indeed double charged on two different credit cards - for two different room rates! I called the hotel and asked to speak to the Front Desk Manager and was told he was not available, but the operator took down my information and assured me that he would call back as soon as possible. I then received no call. I also emailed Marriott and received a notice that the hotel's accounting department would get back to me...in 3-5 business days. As I write this review, I am still waiting for a response. An incredibly frustrating experience - and the Residence Inn Chicago staff seem to have absolutely no urgency to fix the issue. read more

What your looking at is someone's dirty old thong behind the sofa bed pillow. After an extremely long day of traveling, my sister was preparing to make the sofa bed to sleep and found this. And to make matters worse, after calling down to front desk the front desk agent named Kanissa, showed absolutely no care or satisfactory solution other then saying housekeeping will come up to remove the garment and remake the bed. After explained to her that it's not a matter of remaking the bed but more of our complete disgust and broken image of Marriotts sanitary upkeep. None of us wanted to sleep on that sofa bed knowing that minutes ago an old thong was there. That's not really and imaging you can easily delete and place your head inches away from! This whole scenario is not right! I feel (1) disgusted from finding this and (2) humiliated that front desk provided no genuine remorse or satisfactory solution to this disturbing experience. Residence Inn by Marriott Chicago Downtown/Loop - Old thong found behind sofa pillow - Hotels Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

First off, please see the pictures and videos I have attached to this if you need a visual reference to my story. I wanted to report on a recent stay that my family and I were subjected to at the Residence Inn Chicago Downtown at the Loop. We checked in on October 24 and out on October 29. I was there for a business trip and my husband and two young children accompanied me. I stay at Marriott properties frequently, and used my Suite Night rewards to request a 2-Bedroom suite. My request was granted and we checked into the room. The room was very nice, but we were startled to find the breakfast completely overran in the morning. It was so busy, there weren't enough plates for people to use, there were lines for everything, and most of the items had run out without staff replenishing them. This would include Coffee, Decaf and Hot Water, all at the same time. I haven't experienced this at a Marriott property before, but we decided it was unpleasant enough that we would just have to go out for breakfast for the rest of the time there. The second day in our room, we returned to water leaking excessively from the ceiling inside our room. I called the front desk, they sounded unconcerned and told us they would deal with it. After about 20 minutes went by and more water was now pouring from the ceiling, to the point it appeared pieces of the ceiling would soon collapse, still no Marriott employees were interested enough to check it out. We called the front desk again and they were just as unconcerned as on the previous call. About 30-40 minutes after my first call, with every towel we could find in the two bedroom suite now on the floor under the leaking ceiling, and after we moved the furniture to avoid excessive damage, the hotel engineer arrives. He entered, took a photograph of the disaster, said something to the effect of, "Holy Crap! That's a lot of water!" and left. Maybe 50 minutes after I called the front desk, the manager, Paige arrives in the room with two room keys. She said they would have to move us to two different room because of the leaking ceiling. This was now about 11pm. I asked if we could have another suite and she declined. I asked if there was another Marriott property nearby she could call to have us switch hotels and she again declined, saying it would take her too much time. Her attitude was very dismissive and she was not very apologetic. We took the two new room keys and began packing our things for all 4 of us. The hotel neither offered nor provided any assistance in packing our items. My children were exhausted and crying, and didn't understand what was going on. We took 3 trips up and down two different sets of elevators to get all of our bags into the new room (photo attached). The hotel also offered zero assistance in getting all of our luggage into the new rooms. When we arrived at the new rooms we were offered (around midnight), we were very disappointed to find out that they were located in the same waiting area as the elevators. Also, the rooms were not adjoining. I couldn't leave my children in a room by themselves without parental supervision, so we all stayed in the same small room. Evidently, the hotel didn't think anyone would be staying in that room, because there were no linens on the beds. I had to collect all of the sheets, blankets, and pillows out of the second room in order to make the beds in the one room we were using. The hotel offered zero assistance here either. You would think I could not longer be surprised / disappointed by this property any longer, but you're wrong. I finally got the beds made and went into the restroom to find it filthy. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned this month, much less prior to our check in. See attached pictures to demonstrate. So my children were now up until around 1AM, between us being given zero assistance after this absurd affair, and they were exhausted, I was exhausted and had to work the following day and the hotel staff really couldn't have cared less. I had to go ask for the manager (Paige) to refund my suite night awards that were used, although this was somewhat pointless since they expire at the end of the year. I was saving them all year for this special occasion when I would be traveling with my family. She returned 4 of them. I had to contact the hotel again after we checked out to ask her to return the 5th suite night award. We were extremely uncomfortable in the small room, and quite honestly, we were just over the trip after having such a poor experience at this hotel. My husband and children changed their plane tickets so they could return home early, at a great expense. I had to stay for work and before my last night at the hotel, they decided to check me out of my room. I had to call them and ask them to re-issue my keys because they no longer worked in my room.
