Usually I love residence inn, it's great for families esp with the kitchen appliances. 3 stars for the complimentary breakfast and ample parking. Breakfast had bacon and eggs, waffles, yogurt. The room was nice but the air conditioning did not work at all. It was so hot at night. The windows don't open all the way which is understandable so we had to leave the door open for an hour to get good air flow. We checked in late with a big group and by the time we settled in and realized it, it was too late to move. So please check the air conditioning and make sure everything works!

This place is GROSS!!!!!!!!! We booked a two bedroom suite and boy were we disgusted when we checked in! I never sleep in a hotel without fully checking the room, including the beds and I was so disgusted about what I found. I nearly vomited! Both mattresses were completely covered in disgusting, yellow and brown stains, blood stains, and some mysterious black things that are quite possibly bugs or mouse poop who really knows and I wasn't about to find out because I didn't touch it. Every surface is full of dust. The ceiling has stains from water, the carpet is disgusting so is all of the furniture not to mention the foul smell that you would think housekeeping would recognize when they walk in. This place is one of the most disgusting hotels I've ever seen in my life . I was not expecting this from the Marriott name. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel under any circumstances!!! You'd be better off to sleep in your vehicle and that is not an exaggeration. The front desk workers are nice, but that is not enough to redeem this disgusting cesspool of a hotel!

Comfortable room with a cozy bed. Wi-Fi (with Titanium Elite status) worked well. Good location for hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains. A/C worked well and wasn't noisy. Plenty of electrical outlets in the room for charging electronics. Parking isn't free. Hotel layout is a dated 1980s style. Bathroom desperately needs modernizing. Floor around toilet is grimy and peeling apart. Any hotel that won't do daily housekeeping immediately looses 1, maybe 2 stars off the review. But this hotel did, on request, provide housekeeping on my second of three nights.

The floor of the bathroom/accessible shower. It was old and very stained. Shower drains to the middle of the bathroom.

This place just turned me off from the get go. The clerk that greeted me was friendly but asked too many questions. It got a little awkward. We pull up to our room and we use the HC parking but low and behold a maintenance vehicle was parked in the area between the two spots for handicapped which made it difficult for my husband to maneuver his wheelchair around our vehicle. Walked into our room and it smelled. Don't know what smell they were covering up but whatever it was the deodorizer didn't work. The room was otherwise clean but just felt old. Then we walked into the bathroom. The floor was old, discolored, stained, not level, and not safe when wet. They have a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor because the shower floor isn't level so it drains to the middle of the bathroom. You can't even put a floor mat down because it gets soaked and is useless. We used the fridge & freezer, both were clean and in good working order. The bed was very firm if you like that. The next morning we drove up to the front to get the complementary breakfast which was good. They had a good variety to choose from plus they had strong coffee . As we went to park in HC parking at the front office, again there was a maintenance vehicle parked in a HC spot. You may not have many that need the HC parking but it is illegal to park there for a reason. This place definitely was not worth the $200+ we paid.

Ask the Community - Residence Inn Pasadena Arcadia

    Check in time?

Check in time is 3 PM, however I messaged the the hotel via the app and asked and was told I could check in as early as 11 AM, I checked in at 1PM. Not sure if it was because of my membership level, or because I asked in advance.

    What time for breakfast?

During my stay it was 7 AM to 9 AM weekdays and 7 AM to 9:30 AM Friday to Sunday.

You can go there for business and/or pleasure. I didn't have a reservation and walked in w/out one. Christopher at the front desk said that they had few rooms available and he can check me in right away. Had to run to the restroom in their lovely lobby very fast before taking care of business. Let's not forget that they welcome you with 2 warm, fresh Chocolate Chip cookies. I had to meet up with a client to discuss her wedding plans so that was the main reason that I was there this past weekend. February 28th, & March 1st. Checked out on the 2nd of March. Walked in to my room on the 7th floor #708 & later was moved to #718. I was planning to give this hotel 4 stars based on what happened in the 1st room, but since everything else went flawlessly from the restaurant, to the pool, jacuzzi, shower, etc... I will give them 5 solid stars for the employees going above & beyond for your comfort. They genuinely cared for your stay and the hospitality was just FANTASTIC in every way, on every level!!! Everybody was very helpful, nice, and caring. Both rooms that I stayed in were SUPER CLEAN, comfortable bed, sheets, towels, were crisp, and clean too. Pillows were also comfortable. Not too soft & not too firm. I had a minor or I should say a big hiccup the 1st room that I had stayed. Around 3:15am I hear this ugly, loud noise/sound coming from the bathroom. I couldn't figure out what the problem was and was keeping me awake. Plumbing problem with the toilet. Called the front desk and Simon who was working the graveyard shift refused to come up to check it out. Instead he sent the security guard by the name of William. That was not William's job. He somehow came to figure out what seemed to be the problem and long story short he helped me move my stuff to the next room down the hall. Both rooms had the following amenities:gym, meeting rooms, pool, with 4 cabanas, small store that had snacks, bottled drinks, cookies and other handy stuff. Restaurant, bar, small fridge, microwave, a safe, big closet with lots of drawers, blow dryer, shower, TV, phone, an iron, etc.. At the time of the checkout, I brought the problem that I had with the toilet and Laura, one of their managers went down on the price which was a very nice gesture coming from her. Also, I used my AAA discount towards my room. AAA always comes very handy! Ate at the restaurant twice during my stay and that's all I can say about this lovely, beautiful, comfortable hotel. Special thanks to Jaydon, the server that I had in the restaurant, gave me an exceptional service! William, the security guard, and the rest of the staff who helped me! Will definitely return next time I need some ME time or if it's work related. There are a lot of nice close by eateries all around. Has a HUGE parking lot, multiple restrooms in the lobby. Very clean, and that's all I can say for now. Thank you all!:-)

There is a huge communication gap between front desk and house keeping team. First the room was not ready by 6:30pm, have to wait over 30 minutes to get our room. Second, bed time comes, we found out there is no blanks for the pull out sofa bed. And when requested, it never came. First call front desk to request, second request at front desk, and then third request at front desk again. Then the on duty manager just says house keeping team is busy. This already 40 minutes later, close to 10pm. we can not sleep or rest. When I told manager that they should at least give realistic time estimate for house keeping team to deliver blanks, the manager just says ok, next time I will say two hours. Very rude and trying to put the blame on guest. The blanks only arrived when I told manager I will start live stream what kind guest service they provide now. In the elevator, another dad/son guest pair told me their request of blanks never came as well, and they have being wait for a long time. The worst service and attitude never had at ANY hotels. By the way. The beds in the room are starting sagging and makes you back hurt now. This place is going down hill. Too bad it was just still a perfect LA hotel spot we always stay even last year. Wil have to change spot next time. Can't risk pay for your room and then can't get by 6pm, and once you are in you can't sleep and gets locked by the front desk manager for just requesting a blank. The the worst, after all these, one night sleep on a sagging bed makes your back hurts. All these destroys the purpose of staying at this hotel. I never give out one star review. I do this time.

The list can go on and on. Checked in with Victor at the front desk and he was somewhat pleasant, I wanted to use my Triple A card and he wouldn't budge at all. I don't know if he is aware of the benefits of Triple A or not, but didn't accept my card. Moving forward with the rest. I was staying here on the 28th of May and checked out on the 31st of May. Needed to get away from my crazy ass neighbors and it was also work related. Victor was helpful in some areas. I told him that I need a room that is quiet, and he suggested 9th floor room #913. Walked into the room and everything was just super comfortable. My window was facing the beautiful mountains. Had way too many restaurants within walking distance. Amenities are: big TV that actually had my name on it, welcoming me into the hotel, mini fridge, I asked for a microwave(upon request), and by the time I came back from dinner, the microwave was already there. King size bed, standard size couch with a small round table and a leg rest. Big closet along with lots of drawers, and iron/ironing board, a laundry facility on the 2nd floor, the Bistro restaurant that kind of had weird hours. I'll get to that in a minute. Had a coffee machine with all the belongings that comes with it, gym(open 24/7),restrooms all around. Inside the lobby, around the pool and jacuzzi area, had a mini market with a lot of late night snacks from Ramen, Chips, Cookies, Frozen Food, Beverages and also a microwave for their guests. It had a Banquet hall and also a couple of meeting rooms. The entire hotel along with the lobbies, were super clean. Had a blow dryer, clean, crisp towels in the bathroom and the cutest shower curtain that I have ever seen inside a hotel's restroom. It looked like a bridal dress from the 50's 60's era. That cute. Presure of the water was not that good. Understandable, they are conserving water. Restaurant was fairly a large size with great people working there with FANTASTIC HOSPITALITY. They also had a small menu to choose from. Had breakfast and dinner.Ate there twice. Great, affordable prices. Also for Starbucks lovers, they have coffee. They don't have room service which was ok with me, you place your order on your app, or on the phone, go downstairs and pick it up. Special thanks to Meg, one of the most cheerful, upbeat, full of love and energy who works in the restaurant. Rosie was nice too. Bed, pillows, sheets were very comfortable.A/C was working perfectly. They also had a desk and a chair. Tried both their unique pools, and the jacuzzi. Both very clean and everything was SUBLIME!!! Free parking, Free Wi-Fi, had extra pillows and blanket inside the closet. Restaurant hours were weekdays 6AM-10AM. Weekends 7AM-11AM. Don't have lunch, only dinner that opens from 5PM-10PM. Full bar & 2 elevators that were working perfectly.. Appreciate all of you. Would like to extend my thanks to Victor, Will, Lily, Meg, Rosie, Evan, and Carl. I checked in after 10 PM and checked out before 10 AM--I simply needed a place to rest after a seven-hour drive and to shower and prepare for the service. After returning home, I reviewed my charges and noticed an additional $5.00 fee on top of the room rate. When I called the front desk to inquire, I was told the charge was for water in the room. I explained that I did not use the water and that it was still there when I checked out. I also shared that I have a photo, as I make it a habit to record a video of the room upon departure for my records. I was then asked to provide a photo with a clearly visible date and time stamp so it could be forwarded to a manager for review. Given the amount of money I have spent with Hilton, it is disappointing to feel as though my honesty is being questioned over such a minor charge. This is not about the $5.00--it is about the principle. I am being charged for something I did not use. If that level of proof is required from guests, it would only be fair for the hotel to provide similar documentation showing the item was missing upon my departure. That expectation would clearly be unreasonable, which is exactly my point. I was told a manager would contact me directly, but I have not received any follow-up. I am very disappointed with the lack of customer service, accountability, and respect shown in this situation. The hotel is in a great location, close to grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, and other conveniences, all within a nice neighborhood. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I appreciated the free on-site parking, included breakfast, stable internet connection, good TV service, and the availability of several wheelchair-accessible rooms. The hotel also offers a small outdoor pool and jacuzzi, and the guest laundry facilities are reasonably priced at $2 per wash or dry cycle. My king room was generally clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I especially loved the blackout window shade, which completely darkened the room for a great night's sleep. While I opted out of housekeeping service, it was a pleasant surprise to return to my room and find a full bag of fresh towels waiting at my door. The linens were clean, although they lacked that crisp, freshly laundered feel and scent found in some hotels. The room itself was a bit cramped but perfectly adequate for one or two people. The desk area is adequate for working. Tiny bar sink, minimal coffee service, fridge and counter top in the room are helpful. There are, however, some areas that could benefit from improvement. The rooms are beginning to show their age, and replacing the carpeting with hard-surface flooring would likely improve both appearance and cleanliness. The shower grout was noticeably stained, both bathroom faucets were somewhat difficult to operate and leaked (water is hot, but low pressure), and there were not enough conveniently located electrical outlets for today's travelers. The in-room air conditioning unit was effective but quite loud when running. Parking can become a significant challenge when the hotel is busy, and because of the nearby freeway and neighboring hotels, noise from loud vehicles and motorcycles can sometimes be heard, particularly during the evening hours. The outdoor pool is small, and the clarity was just OK. I was still able to get a cool off session. Jacuzzi was out of service. The hotel gym is average, with minimal equipment. The endless drinking water dispenser was appreciated to refill our water bottles in this hot climate. The included breakfast was adequate but fairly basic, typically consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles, bread and bagels, yogurt, milk, bananas, apples, juice, and mediocre coffee. Disappointing that was that breakfast was frequently not fully set up on time, resulting in our missing breakfast on the way out for our work day. Overall, this hotel offers good value, a convenient location, comfortable beds, and friendly service. While some updates and maintenance improvements would enhance the guest experience, I would consider other locations to try first.

When I pulled out the sofa bed, it still had dirty sheets on it and was filled with crumbs, dirt, and more human hair. We also found roaches and spiders in the room. The stovetop and exhaust hood were dirty and showed signs of rust. The condition of the property outside the room wasn't much better. The hallways had an unpleasant odor, and sections of the hallway carpet were wet. The complimentary grab-and-go breakfast area was dirty and had run out of coffee. The staff members I interacted with were friendly, but the front desk was often unattended when assistance was needed. The key cards were also difficult to use on the common area doors. The laundry room was out of order during our stay. I also paid the additional $5.99 for the enhanced internet service, but it stopped working several times throughout the day, making it unreliable. Overall, we only stayed two days. While I appreciate the kindness of the staff, the cleanliness, maintenance, and reliability of the amenities fell well below expectations. It was designed by architect Robert Stacy-Judd in the Mayan revival style (but named the Aztec because it was thought this would be more familiar to the public). The hotel was not particularly successful and went through various phases, including rumors of being a speakeasy and a brothel. It was a bit of a notorious spot for a while, with shady characters occupying its rooms. I was told that 11 people have died here which may not be a particularly high number for such an old hotel. Nonetheless, there are claims of hauntings and tales of paranormal activity. Either way, it's a super fascinating and aesthetically marvelous place!
