Really good food. A little limited in the menu, but what we ordered was phenomenal. I love the bread covered (they you can optionally cover in blue cheese). I had the chicken wrapped asparagus-delicious-and my husband had the seafood risotto. So good. Our daughter had the spinach ravioli. Expensive. Not that good. Nice presentation. But they messed up our order and bill so badly. The food also was very slow to come out despite the place not being very busy. The steak tasted cheap. The appetizer was okay. The main dish was better. The drinks were fantastic. I liked the setting and low lighting. It really captured the sunset. However, the reason it's getting 3 stars is because we saw a possum go into the kitchen, and the staff did not really address it. Therefore, 3/5. read more

We have been to the Westin many times but have never dined at the more formal Arrefices restaurant. This was a special occasion trip and decided to give it a try. The dining area was outdoors, the weather was warm and we arrived right at sunset which was magnificent. It has a spectacular view of the bay and all during dinner you can hear the water splashing on the shore. We were seated at a table on the front facing the water. Our waiter took a bit of time to present us with the menus but we thought it was OK as we were enjoying the view. Well, he finally arrived, presented the menus and we chose and ordered a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. It seemed to be taking quite a bit of time for him to return only to find out they did not have that and he brought a Mexican white wine. My husband wanted to order a different wine and he began pushing the Mexican white. My husband said no we want to order this different wine. The waiter insisted and I said OK, can you give us a taste of the Mexican wine before we buy a bottle of it. Our waiter said no and we ordered the one that we chose. He served us the wine and we ordered our meals. We decided to order just the entrees with no starters. We ordered: - Whole Lobster approx. 1.5 lbs beautifully presented with watercress and fresh vegetables and drawn butter - about $33 USD. - Steak med rare over mashed potatoes with Bleu Cheese garnish - about $13 USD Here's the part where we started wondering because this is the more formal higher end restaurant of the Westin. They took what seemed like a lifetime (45+ minutes) for the food to arrive. We were served the bread once we ordered but we had to ask for utensils. Once the dishes finally arrived, my steak was a bit tough and all I had was a butter knife. I had to flag our waiter down to ask for a steak knife because the butter knife was useless. After that, they pretty much left us alone - no checking in to see how the food was. The dinner was delicious, presented beautifully and for Westin's more formal restaurant the prices were very reasonable compared to the US. The service however is pretty bad so if you are hungry or are in a hurry I would try some place else. It's not that anyone was not nice or rude, they just took so long. This is in such contradiction to the service we received at the other restaurants like Las Palmas or the pool service. The stars are for the food and not the service. read more

Beautiful oceanside location with seating outside as well as in. Obviously very convenient for those staying at the hotel and prices not bad given the exchange rate. We went early in the evening as we have young kids, but we did get to see a great sunset and it's a very relaxing setting. I had the shrimp tacos which were fine and ordered the mixed grilled vegetables (as many vegetables seem in short supply in Mexico) which were good but rated very low on the presentation scale as there were about 5 pieces that were scattered and rolling around on a plate. My husband had the jumbo prawns which were also good but nothing particularly memorable. Mojito was well made, wine selection mostly geared to Spanish and South American wine. read more

The Westin's steakhouse is obviously convenient and perfect for those staying at the resort if you don't want to walk out the driveway across the street or don't have time to head into town. Our flight arrived in late and the weather was a little iffy. By the time we dropped our things in the room and took a shower, it was almost 9pm. So we decided to walk around the hotel grounds and came across the restaurant by the pool. With its stark white décor, and palapa roof, it is straight out of Hollywood Caribbean casting. There was a fundraiser going on in the front deck with about 200 people so we stayed inside (there is outdoor seating), but then it started to storm and rain. Of course then all the guests come in with their cocktails in hand standing all around us and dropping champagne glasses on the floor. We almost could have become part of the fundraiser and started taking food off the trays and bidding on items! It is okay. It wasn't like we were looking to have a relaxing first night romantic dinner or anything! open air design. We weren't really that hungry and the humid air just had us wanting something in our stomachs. We ordered a bunch of appetizers including Scallops, Duck Tacos and Lobster Empanadas. We also had a pumpkin flan for dessert. The margaritas were just okay as the humidity didn't allow the drinks to be really cold. Service was great though as the waiters apologized several times for the crowd which they tried to keep away from us. It was a little difficult to have a conversation when there are 6 conversations happening around you, but it was likely a rare occurrence. Too bad as I'm sure the normal quiet open air ambiance is what makes the place really special as the food was just okay. Again, we did NOT eat anything from the entree list which I'm sure would have been good. read more

We had a light dinner at the bar. The tacos are small FYI. The shrimp ones were good but the beef ones were terrible. Lots of fat on the meat. Prices were good as the dollar is strong here in Mexico. read more

Came here with 6 people including 3 vegetarian kids, not the easiest to please food-wise. There were plenty of options and they liked what they had. Food was all around good with the beef tenderloin being particularly delicious. Service was fast, waiters were nice and music wasn't too loud. The lights and the location right next to the ocean adds up to a beautiful place to eat. Would recommend. Prices were reasonable American dollars-wise. read more

This review is for the poolside Arrecefis service- it is not good. The servers are overworked and there are too few of them, and the food is not good. Do yourself a favor and walk over to the next pool at the club Regina- their pool bar is tenampa and is so much better - better service and the food is so much better. Your pizza will be cooked correctly, your chicken fingers and onion rings will not be burnt to a crisp and the ceviche is excellent, and la tenampa is a few $ less for most of the same types of food. Skip the arrecifices poolside service till the Westin is able to improve it. The only redeeming thing about the arricefes pool side service is the taco truck- a couple of days a week they pull it up next to the pool bar and for 33 pesos you get an amazing pork taco. If you see the taco truck serving- go eat your fill. Bar Tenampa isn't listed as a business on yelp, so I have posted their menus here (both for tenampa and da cevicheria- the ceviche is incredible- you can pick a trio of 3 ceviches for under 200 pesos- definitely get the peruvian, the pizza is good, and my kids liked the quesadillas, service is also good. read more

Steak house inside the Westin resort. A bit pricey but if you're looking for a nice place to take the spouse this is probably it. Looks like they should have a dress code but hotel guest were there in tank tops and bikini bottoms. Like I said it's pricey but the food was excellent. Bread was fresh and soft. Vegetables were well seasoned. Steak was cooked perfectly. Great cut of meat, almost melted in your mouth. Seafood was perfect as well. read more

Overall, "meh" about sums it up. Setting amazing. The ocean is literally at your lap. Sunset gorgeous. Waitstaff is decent. Food is less than ok. Caesar salad had a vinegarette dressing, not a Caesar. Salmon tartare has raw onions in it which overpowered the fish and was just wired. Tuna steak had a strange texture. Nice oceanside setting for a sunset dinner. Ordered the shrimp appetizer which was average plus and the duck entree split as an appetizer which was nice but quite small ( 4 oz.) . We both ordered medium rare rib eye steaks which had nice flavor but were tough and stringy.The sides of mashed sweet potato and asparagus were good, with the asparagus cooked perfectly crisp. Ordered the trio of creme Brule for dessert. They were all good, my fav was the ginger one (perhaps for its uniqueness). The service was good and the chef did the right thing by removing the charge for 1 of the steaks. My suggestion would be to stick with the seafood. read more

Terrible slow service for dinner. Beautiful setting but it took an hour and fifteen mins to get our food served after ordering. And when it came, portions small and overpriced. The steak was fatty and practically inedible. We complained about the slow service and fatty steak and waiter was totally unapologetic. He said most people love the steak and offered us no compensation whatsoever for our long wait or dissatisfaction. Never again. Not worth it when so much other great food nearby. read more

The Cesar salad was a head of romaine split down the middle. The meat and fish were not good. Two of our party ordered the 'filet', upon ordering asked if it was filet mignon and the waiter said yes. It was NOT Filet Mignon. I ordered the seared tuna. It tasted like it was frozen or out of a can. The party member who ordered the ribeye was pleased with her entree. Overall, this was the worst restaurant at the Westin. The only thing that it had going for it was the scenery. We thought maybe they could redeem themselves with desert. The mousse that ordered was rubbery, unlike any mousse I've ever ordered. My wife's desert was equally un-finish-able. Great service and even better food. The char grilled lettuce on the Caesar salad gave it great flavor. The Ceviche had a kick to it and was filled with great flavor. Wine list was geared towards Spanish and South American regions but everyone we tried was good. Well made cocktails. Got the surf and turf special; lobster was incredible, simply seasoned and bursting with flavor. The steak was perfectly cooked and came with a delicious pepper sauce. The scenery was incredible, got to see an incredible sunset despite it being rainy season. Overall great experience. read more

Excellent location by the beach however food left us unimpressed and service was probably the worst we have ever experienced. Took us 3 hours to finish dinner from the time we sat down. That was not because we wanted to stay long - food took forever to come out. When it did, some people's main meals came before the appetizers, and we had to wait awhile before others got their mains. One person ordered fajitas and they forgot to bring the tortillas! By the time they brought it, the dish was cold! Really unfortunate for a restaurant of this supposed caliber in a top tier hotel. read more
