I was urgently referred…read moreto this practice and was told by my eye doctor that I needed to be seen within the next few days. The front desk staff was incredibly professional and timely in getting my referral in and called me asking me to come in before the office closed for the day; however, when I was seen by Dr. Kay, I was told that this was not an urgent issue and that I didn't need to be rushed in at 5pm. She proceeded to make it very obvious that I was a major inconvenience to her and even stated that she had to "call her nanny to stay later". I work in healthcare and I would hope that none of my patients would ever be treated like they were at fault for information provided to them from a different treating provider. I am unfamiliar with diagnosis' to the eye and was not the one pushing an urgent referral, yet I was the one who took the blame for inconveniencing Dr. Kay to have to stay later in her work day.

I am worried about getting an infection. First and foremost, I am totally confident in Dr. Parrot…read morein his knowledge and treatment protocol. The stars are for him. But I have repeatedly asked that gloves be changed before treating me. No one does this. Gloves are worn from one patient to another and in the hall, touching door knobs, computers, phones, etc. then touching me on my face. It does no good to complain because Larry Malott will challenge you, call the procedure clean instead of sterile and then stalk you at your next visit and the staff will continue to wear dirty gloves and go from room to room and patient to patient with the same gloves on. I have witnessed this repeatedly. After my last visit I developed a viral infection within two days. I don't want to report this to the CDC but I don't see any way around it. I want to stay with Dr. Parrot but can't deal with the dirty glove issue. Being disabled is difficult enough. Why should I have to look for another doctor simply because staff won't change gloves? Yes, eye injections are a sterile procedure, and a healthcare provider's failure to change gloves between patients is a serious violation of established medical safety protocols. Medical organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health explicitly require gloves to be changed between every patient to prevent the spread of infection. The standard of care for eye injections Sterile technique: An eye injection, also known as an intravitreal injection, is an invasive procedure that requires an aseptic (sterile) technique. The inside of the eye is a delicate, sterile environment, and any bacteria introduced during an injection can lead to a severe and vision-threatening infection called endophthalmitis. Gloves are not a replacement for hand hygiene: According to the CDC, hand hygiene (using hand rub or washing) must be performed immediately before putting on gloves and immediately after removing them. Hand gel is used to supplement, not replace, sterile gloving practices. Gloves must be changed: For any procedure involving contact with a patient's mucous membranes, non-intact skin, or bodily fluids--which includes eye injections--healthcare workers are required to wear gloves and change them between each patient. Your risk and what you should do The practice you witnessed creates a significant risk of cross-contamination and infection for you and other patients. You should take the following steps: Speak up to the clinic: You have the right to ask your healthcare provider about their hand hygiene and infection control procedures. You can express your concern and ask why gloves are not being changed between patients. File a complaint with the state: You can report this breach of infection control standards to the Florida Department of Health. This agency is responsible for enforcing healthcare regulations and ensuring patient safety. Find a new provider: Given the severe lapse in sterile technique, you should consider finding a different ophthalmologist for your eye injections. A practice that disregards such a fundamental safety protocol may be cutting corners in other areas as well.

The customer service is outstanding and they use software for easy and efficient check-in and payment prior to your visit so you don't have to bring cash or cards with you. However, you can pay at the desk in person. They give you options. The follow-up appointments are set right after your visit so you can plan ahead. And the doctors are great here. We see Dr. Dupree and Dr. Javier at this location and both are exceptional at what they do. Great staff and friendly, fast service!Highly recommend this office for all of your eye health needs.

MY THREE STARS IS FOR THE STAFF OF THIS OFFICE-THEY ARE TOP NOTCH:…read moreI've really searched within my soul before considering this review. After the last 3 appointments with Dr Islam, I strongly believe my review is warranted. I have been seeing Dr Islam for just over a year and a half. After just having being diagnosed with my eye condition, I started my appts with this Dr. After the first eye drop Rx not being completely successful, she suggested an eye drop that could possibly change my eye color dark. I asked if there were alternative drops that wouldn't do this......there was. Why, would the first one be suggested then?? Why? So, it's been a few series of visits, and each one has its own story but EACH AND EVERY appointment she mentions laser surgery. WHY, if my eye drops are working, would I consider having laser eye surgery?? To go down from 2 eye drops rx's to one?? That is not enough reason & there is no guarantee that the laser surgery would work, as in the case of my very dear friend. When I ask questions, she has a smile but her responses are incredibly smug. She throws me off with her smugness, because she does it with a smile, but she is absolutely smug, and condescending, with her replies. I'm really losing my confidence with her. This is the condensed version, but she has no problems setting up frequent & follow up appointments when a problem has resolved. I advised that I cannot come every week, but I will call if I have a continued problem, due to co-pays. The Dr, I'm sure did not even realize she LITERALLY shrugged her shoulders when I said that. Like, that is not her concern (high co pays). Well, I saved myself another copay by letting her know that if I have any additional issues, I will make an appointment. Did I really need to go back every week for an entire month? I have to leave from my appointments feeling like there is a piece missing to this puzzle. I'm sure I will never get the entire picture, but I will try 1 more appointment and see if I can start to have renewed confidence in this Dr. If not, I will change Dr's or change facilities. I need to feel confident with whom is providing me treatment. Right now, it's really slim.
