The young woman who helped us was very knowledgeable and friendly. There was a huge array of plants to choose from. The grounds are fun to walk around and there are several water gardens and other water features as well as lots and lots of blooming g flowers to enjoy. Lillies are a little pricey but we wanted them for our new water garden and there doesn't seem to be any place closer around us to shop for. The plants we bought were nice size and we are looking forward to enjoying all summer.

The store is not large so we located the section we needed right away. However, we still couldn't find or determine if the item we were looking at was right for us (again, no one ever asked us if we needed help) and eventually landed on a garden flag stand. We had been to several stores previously for weeks and like to buy local instead of online when we can. This was the first store we found that had substantially stronger garden flag stakes. This whole time, there was a man working that kept his eyes on me and my partner but especially me, scowling. I just ignored it as RBF cause he was an older man, and I had done nothing but smile and greet him when we came in. I could feel him staring at me several times while we were shopping. Every time, I just smiled and he'd look away. We decided to look around the store after deliberating alone for about twenty minutes to see if maybe we could get other gifts for people and bought a few other items. Note, there were two older women working and the older man. When we got to the store, there may have been only 1 other person in there. A small family had also come in at one point but left before we did. Otherwise, the store was entirely empty. At checkout, there were two areas to check out of at the counter. We were still meandering when I came up to one side to look at the stickers. He alerted us that check out was on the other side. He checked us out and I realized he had bagged our items, but we had brought our own bag. When I mentioned this, my partner was like, "Oh yeah! We have our own, we don't need one but thank you." I added in, "Yes save it for another transaction." This man, scowled and stared me down for a solid 15-20 seconds--he literally kept his head facing me, locking his eyes on mine as he put the bag back in the rack behind him. It was so awkward and uncomfortable and honestly rude. I just smiled bigger at him politely, but widened by eyes to make it clear that I DID see him rudely staring at me for refusing a bag. He finally relented, greeted us goodbye. The other female worker had just come back up to the checkout platform as well as we walked out and thanked us with a goodbye as well. It was a very odd shopping experience. The store is very quaint and woodsy. Items are priced to match inflation. They have a variety of things not just for ornithology enthusiasts. The garden flag stand was the best we could find in the area and is very sturdy. I had contemplated coming back to get a bird bath, but I'll try elsewhere cause of the weird interaction.

I've been here a handful of times since I've moved to the area. Most recently, I purchased a…read moreharness for a dog I'm fostering. I was told if he wore it and it didn't fit, they would accept it back as long as I had the receipt and tag. I bought it on a Wednesday and attempted to return it on a Friday. He wore it once for a long walk and I removed it when I came home. It didn't fit him well and seemed too snug for continued use, specifically around his neck. Somehow on our walk it became frayed on the underside. I tried to exchange it with the intention of buying one of the nicer harnesses. I was told they would be unable to resell it bc "he must've chewed it up". Which didn't happen. He only had it on for the walk and was taken off when we got back. I was told it wasn't too small then and we can't resell it". People are constantly saying to support local businesses. Return policies like this make it difficult when big stores like petco or petsmart will exchange with 0 hassle. For a store that is empty every time I've been there, I would think they'd be more understanding and relaxed in an exchange, especially considering I was going to spend more money than the first time I was there.

Chiefs gear for my fur babies and the cutest super hero collars too. I will be back often. Especially when I can have option to have them bath my dogs or I can do it myself. When we moved to the Kansas City area we drove past this place and stopped in to see what it was all about. We bought a 25lb bag of the 21% fat (that's the lowfat) dog food. It's specifically designed for dogs age 7+ and has a very small pebble that is easier on older teeth. Molly eats it up! Three years later we are still feeding her exactly that. Great value for the price too! They have everything from horse feed, to bird seed, rawhide treats and oodles more stuff but keep in mind this is not the place to find pet toys, pet beds or fancy accessories! We're talking wood plank floor and simple surroundings but plenty of good old fashioned service (they insist on carrying every bag of food to your car for you!) Like a taking a walk through time. The older gentleman behind the counter today was playing Big Band Jazz. Sometime I need to stick around when its quiet in there and just hear some stories.
