Reunion is a very cute restaurant, but honestly doesn't have the best food. We came with a group of five so we started off with hummus, which was actually the best part of the meal. It was homemade and was served with bread. If you love hummus, I would highly recommend it. My mom and I shared the bruschetta chicken sandwich with fries and ranch and it was okay. I only ate the chicken, but the others said it was average. The fries were okay, but the ranch was not good; it was definitely not homemade. My dad got the Reuben with potato salad and it was not very good. The potato salad wasn't even a potato salad, it looked like frozen breakfast potatoes served on a plate. The only other thing someone else got was the house salad which actually looked really good. Overall I would say this restaurant isn't that great, but we got seated very quickly and the service was decent. read more

Got it to go, i was told to pick up in an hour, when I got home, which was 3 min away, it wasn't hot so must have been sitting for a while, fries seemed like they were microwaved, they were chewy, burger was mediocre, had a whiskey chicken and it had no taste whatsoever. Won't go back. read more

Prepare to Be Amazed the moment you walk in the door! The space is gorgeous upstairs & downstairs! I love how they have a Bar, Dinning Room, and Lounge for all you needs and enjoyment! Reading all these whiny reviews makes me ill. Yeah, it's expensive for Northfeild. Yeah, well it comes with better food and drinks and atmosphere than typical Northfeild (Cannon Falls, Fairbault, etc...) restaurants. Thank goodness a nicer restaurant with "fancy" food came to this area. I am moving back to Cannon Falls after years living in large foodie cities all around the country and restaurants like this will be my Saving grace. Don't believe the bad reviews...this place has Minneapolis style and great food without the Minneapolis prices. My 7oz filet was prepared perfectly medium as requested and the smashed potatoes and brussel sprout sides were a perfect accompaniment. Wow - I've never seen such rude. awful service. It was like the staff were paid to pretend we didn't exist. We came in and were immediately given a table. It was a Sunday night and the joint was not busy. We sat. Servers are circulating. No one says hello, brings water, or otherwise even acknowledges that we are present. We wait. And wait. Still no contact with any member of the staff. Ten minutes later, after at least three servers have walk past us pretending we aren't there, we decide to get up and go to the bar instead. We figure the bartender will take our orders, since we'll be sitting right there. We sit. The bartender is at the other end of the bar. He sees us, we make eye contact, and he literally turns around (if you go in there, he's the guy with little man bun/pony tail). A few minutes later, he comes and talks to a customer literally right next to us, gets the remote, and changes the channel. Doesn't say hello, just turns his back, again, and walks to the other end of the bar, and stands. Still no acknowledgement of our existence. After six minutes (an eternity) we burst out laughing, get up, and leave. On our way out, a server asks how we're doing! Maybe we were dressed badly? Had bad hair? Just didn't look right? Whatever it was, those employees were most definitely not into earning our money, or even having us there (and I've never, ever seen a bartender so entirely disinterested in making money as I did there). There are not many decent places to eat in Northfield, so if you're here you might feel compelled to go to Reunion. Don't do it. Do yourself a favor and drive to Minneapolis. Four of us were visiting from out of town and this was by far our unanimous favorite of all the places we ate in Northfield. The quality of the food and service was great. My 13 year old son (and the only vegetarian in our family) said the Gouda Mac n Cheese (minus the bacon) was the best mac n cheese he'd ever had. The food seemed overall to be of good quality and fresh. The only thing I could possibly complain about is that I ordered a sirloin medium rare, but it came with only a little pink (closer to a medium well), but it still tasted great! We just tried this for the first time last week and were so impressed we went back again last night. We had ribs and walleye on our initial visit and had burgers last night. All of these were excellent! They're doing it right by not trying to save cost by skimping on quality. How many places put heirloom tomatoes on a burger?! Had a very pleasant evening at Reunion last night. I ordered the pork chop entree with sweet potato hash browns and their special Brussel sprouts. I have to say that I always have my pork chop butterfly cooked because I end up sending it back for being raw. When I requested this, the kind server Jackson, guaranteed that it would be done to very well. HE WAS RIGHT! It was perfect. This absolutely one of the coolest establishments I have been in. As a Carleton grad with fond memories of the Rueb I appreciate that you left some of the original flavor. The wood burning grill left my steak savory and perfectly cooked. I so enjoyed my sprouts. The wait staff was kind courteous and very knowledgeable about the menu. I was impressed that the manager, a fine fellow named Max, stopped to welcome us and discuss some of the more interesting details about the design of the restaurant that we may have missed. To top it off the water closest had music playing by the Clash... I kid you not. London calling. Not should I stay or should I go.. crap. The waiter talked to us about his experience demoing the restaurant and about how great it is to work for the GM and other supervisors. He impressed us. As a former ultimate player I was impressed by his knowledge of the game. He also seemed to know the menu by heart. He commented that his parents helped him memorize it and play act being customers. Brilliant. Next time we are back in Northfield we will be stopping at the Reunion. Pretty epic. Another visit. This time I was able to take my mother there for a small midday appetizer. Again, great service. The young waiter greeted my mother with great reverence and respect. Thank you again to the young manager Max for explaining in detail the system of cooking on the tremendous wood grill. I look forward to a time when I can get the chefs table. Kudos to the great GM. Some friends and I stopped in to try Reunion the first week it was open. We had to wait about 30 minutes for our table, so we hung out at the cocktail lounge upstairs and ordered drinks. I've had three great experiences there. They must have hired a new chef since when it opened. The baked rigatoni was delicious. My wife and I have also had the meat plate for two. Walked in and put our name on the list and were told 15 minutes. 40 minutes later we asked how long and were told it would be much longer. We walked out. I can get quality food for that price in the cities and get a table in the time we are told or at least get an update after the 15 minutes. I attended the soft opening this last week, and was blown away by all the beautiful renovations they've made. The wood-fired steak was perfectly cooked, and the chicken pasta dish, featured that evening, was full of color and flavor. Eh. Not impressed. Food is horribly overpriced for Northfield. We ordered appetizers and 4 drinks between 3 people and walked away with a bill of $125.00 after the tip. It definitely wasn't worth it. The restaurant itself is beautiful and while the small portions of appetizers were tasty, we all left hungry. We come to Northfield to stroll through the shops and stop for something to eat. We will continue to visit the town a couple of times a year but unfortunately Reunion won't be on our list to visit again. We made a reservation 2 months prior to our get together for our brother's surprise 40th birthday party for this evening. Many of us traveled from out of town for this occasion and we're very excited to dine at this establishment. In the spirit of celebration, we ordered cupcakes to bring to celebrate. The minute that we walked into the door, we were accosted by an employee that said we would be charged a $20 fee for a cake cutting fee. Seriously?!! We were not made aware of this at the time of reservation and to add to it, there was no cake to cut! We spent over $300 and then charged an additional $20 for walking cupcakes in the door. Additionally, in trying to discuss this with the manager she was unwilling to work with us and gave the excuse that "they couldn't go over every reservation to let people know there is a fee for bringing in cakes". This changed what was supposed to be an amazing experience in to one where we will never spend money in this establishment again! So disappointing that this is how this business chooses to make up losses during covid!! read more

This is a very nice , modern restaurant in Northfield. The staff is friendly and attentive. We stopped by for "happy hour" and I would say that that, is a bit misleading. The $3 tap price applies only to Bud, Miller GD , and such, typical mass market beers offered by any bar in Minnesota. The craft beers( all domestic in that they are predominantly brewed in Minnesota) , and are mostly what Reunion offers, are $7-8 , the standard price.All fine as long as you clearly let the customer know that. Better yet, just dispense with the whole claim that you offer a happy hour. read more

I was part of a group that gave money to support a charitable cause. My husband and I decided to have supper at The Reunion, after. It had replaced the Rueb n Stein , a friendly place that I enjoyed. My husband had a burger and liked it,except for one issue. I had ordered shrimp. When it arrived at our table, it had a old fish odor that was overpowering. The shrimp, which had been twisted into a shape, must have been prepared beforehand,. My husband said as he ate his burger he could only smell the odor of my food, which affected how he enjoyed his meal. The restaurant was somewhat pretentious, with the menu tied between a block of wood and a ripped square of some kind of rubber. It was expensive. We don't mind paying more for something a little special, but this wasn't special. I did eat the wild rice blend side dish which was ok. They did comp my meal. I doubt we will be eating there anytime soon. It had taken a very long time to close a great restaurant and bar to turn it into this sad place. It was one more place I don't go into and I mourn the loss. read more

We enjoyed our visit to reunion. This was probably a 4* review except our server, Brigid, made it a 5* experience. She was outstanding in spite of the place clearly running short staffed (as most seem to these days). I had a very good filet and the smashed potatoes were amazing. The food was... okay. The menu looked pretty good but it seems like there was a bit of squandered potential in quality. The chips and dip came with processed guacamole and lukewarm queso. Fabulous food, fabulous decor, and fabulous service. This is now my favorite place to eat in Northfield. I knew the Reub very well back in the 1970s and the transformation into Reunion is incredible. This restaurant is fair. The servers, while friendly, are inexperienced and it shows. They struggled with questions about their wines and seemed to need suggestions regarding us needing fresh silverware. They also brought boxes to the table rather than boxing leftovers in the kitchen.
