Reunion is just getting off the ground, so we're prepared to forgive it a few bumps and will be back in a few weeks to try it again. It's a nice addition to the Northfield restaurant scene. The decor is terrific -- very inviting, very open, with good natural light. The staff is young -- pleasant, earnest, eager -- and does a decent job given their collective lack of restaurant experience. It took longer than it should have to get our drinks. Management, take note: the sooner we get our drinks, the more drinks we're likely to order. Also, please provide a wine list and a beer list. It took unnecessary time for our server to tell us what our options were. Put a price on your cocktails so we don't waste time asking -- it looks a little weird that everything else on the (dog-eared, photocopied) menu has a price but the drinks don't. And Jesse's Girl? (Rum-based drink) Skip it. In terms of price point, Reunion seems trying to compete locally with the Ole Store. The quality isn't quite on par yet. Our dinner was pretty much what we'd expect from an off-night at an Axel's Bonfire Grill. The spinach salad comes with a generous portion of spinach, and the added salmon was likewise generous. The salmon was cooked with too much oil or butter and had a greasy mouthfeel but was otherwise fine. The salad was missing the pea pods. The idea of coating the goat cheese medallions in crushed almonds is an excellent one. Given the quality of fresh goat cheese in the area, the goat cheese itself should have tasted better. I ended up electing to eat around it, and I'm normally a huge goat cheese fan. The basil vinaigrette was delightful, so overall I'd say that the salad has promise. The steak sandwich was perfectly done and quite tasty. The Parmesan fries were nothing to write home about -- the cheese was unequally distributed -- but were good with the sandwich. I'm not sure Northfield is ready to have to pay for bread with dinner given the price of most meals at Reunion. It'll be interesting to see how long that policy lasts, given that feeding diners a bit of bread or crackers (or olives, or nuts) upon their arrival increases the likelihood of more drinks being ordered. We weren't terribly interested in the dessert options so left without dessert. It would have been nice to read descriptions, or see what the desserts looked like. Normally, I can easily be talked into at least sharing a dessert, so I expect I'll probably try a Reunion dessert at some point in the future. Reunion, we're glad you're here, and we hope you get a little bit better. If you do, you'll be rewarded with a very loyal local customer base. read more

Stopped in here for lunch with relatives. The building is really nice inside. Great restoration of an old building allowing the original brick to show. I had the walleye sandwich which was quite good. One of our party had wings which he said were tasty and they looked good to me. I was impressed with the tap list although I didn't have a beer this time. Next time I'll try one. Our whole group seemed to like their selections. read more

It's not bad. This place is basically trying to beat out the Ole Store, but it can't really compete versus that standard. What you're getting is a nice, sit-down meal, and probably your best bet for that downtown. Unique flavors at least, and pretty good ones at that. My aunt's favorite restaurant in Northfield and I can see why. We recently had lunch and she told me a lot of its history when it had been The Rueb'n'Stein decades ago. The owner stopped by our table and they shared some memories from back in the day. The renovations are fantastic. The shrimp pasta had a wonderful non-dairy broth and was delicious. My wife and I ate here for the first time tonight, anxious to try the food and atmosphere. Both are equally fantastic. Inside there are lots of great separate spaces to eat and/or visit with friends. Double decker patio is a great addition to this venue. We were quickly seated and and enjoyed salad, the steak 7 oz filet and the walleye filets. On the side we had wild rice risotto, sautéed baby spinach, and the smashed potatoes. Everything was hot, flavorful and well made. I give the owners high snaps for this concept. Nice cocktail selection. Service was hurried on arrival. Short rib special was the worst piece of meat I have ever been served in a restaurant. No meat only large pieces of fat on the short rib bone. Meat only in small part of serving was only strands in fat. Vegetables with the plate were cold. Very disappointing. I'm usually a big fan of this place, though I've only ever gotten takeout. Well, this visit was not so great. I ordered the pear apple salad with smoked chicken. When I got home, the rest of my family's meals were covered in what would have been my salad dressing and the chicken that was $3 extra was just a whole breast in a separate container. Now, I'm not incapable of cutting up some chicken, but the whole point of ordering food is not having to do that. Despite that, the salad was delicious with the dressing I added from home, the chicken was gross and I won't be adding it again. Monday night: 1st time we've ever made it for happy hour. I ordered head flyer vanilla bean porter and hubby had the deschutes porter. My beer arrived in a tulip glass, hubby's came in a regular pint glass. Both beers were very cold...love that. We like to sit at the bar, and caroline the bartender made us feel very welcomed. Ordered the beef sliders and the street tacos. Nice presentation on the sliders and they were cooked perfectly. I did think the patties could of been a little bigger to fit the bun. They were delicious and we would order again. We've had their street tacos before and do enjoy them. My only suggestion would be to have each taco double up with a second tortilla, as soon as we folded it to eat, the bottom split and the chunks of beef fell out. Got our bill and still thought it was an expensive happy hour. 2.00 off each appetizer, they are normally 12.00/13.00. I found out after my 2 beers that my particular choice was not discounted. My tulip glass of beer was 8.00 regular price. Our total bill came to $51.12, It's pretty spendy for 2 appetizers and 4 beers. However we do like the ambiance of this place so we will be back, just not as often as we would like too. read more

The space is absolutely amazing. They did wonders to what used to be the Rube n' Stein. Pre-COVID there was a lot of buzz inside with bands and parties and bar goers and diners, which seems to be coming back slowly in 2022. It would be great to see that! The food is always good, but never great. The prices are high for Northfield, so carryout can be a bit expensive, because you are paying in-part for the space/atmosphere, I think. The wait staff here is always terrific. With young kids sometimes with us, the staff has always been super helpful and made their experience great too. read more

Meh. A disappointing first visit. Shrimp scampi pasta was bland and tasted like buttered noodles with mushy tomatoes and a few shrimp thrown on top. Had to ask for our salads after our meals came but were still shorted one. We also had to ask for water 2x but those were never filled either. All in all, I was surprised because I've heard so many good things. With only 4 people at our table, and a restaurant at 50%, I thought the service would be a little better than that. Food is good. A bit higher price than most places around here but, the recipes are hip and unique. Wait times can be long but, there are two bars that make it easy to pass the time. I had the Salmon Entrée with citrus reduction which came with two sides. I chose Brussel sprouts and wild rice risotto. Stopped here while attending a town festival. Thinking they might get busy soon, I asked the hostess if I could sit at the bar. She wasn't receptive to that idea. OK. Once seated, the server was professional and attentive - the one really positive feature of my visit. I ordered a reuben sandwich. It was loaded with none-too-moist corned beef, a bit of cheese, a barely visible thread of kraut, and no 1000 islands. Never in all the years of going to restaurants, have I experienced what I did at Reunion. My friends and I decided to meet at reunion for lunch today, upon entering we asked for a booth. Mind you, we got there after lunch hour 1:00, and there were 2 booths open! We were told we couldn't have the booth as those seating areas are "saved" for more than 3 guests. When the hostess seated us at a table near the bathroom, we asked again just to double check....and the hostess came back and told us she couldn't accommodate as reservations were planning to come. My friends and I spent 3 hours here, and NO ONE was seated at these booths the entire time. They literally lied! We were disgusted. When we asked the hostess about it, she gave us attitude stating it really isn't her job......unreal!! Honestly, our waitress was amazing and the food was decent. However, the hostess was awful...poor customer service doesn't make me want to come back. For those looking for food recommendations, we had the burger (little dry), chicken tenders, and Rueben were both great! Just beware, you won't get seated where you want. I've never had a hostess argue with me about where I want to be seated! Then lie? Terrible. read more

We tried to go to Reunion last winter but got turned away due to a plumbing issue. The manager had given us a $10 gift certificate to use at a later time. When we made plans to go back and use our certificate, we realized it had an expiration date which had passed... we thought for sure they would be kind and honor it anyway... we were told no. Oh well, I guess gestures of good will do not apply at "upscale" restaurants. We ordered our food... service was very average. I would have expected better here. The smoked chicken legs were excellent. The reuben sandwich we shared was a bit strange... taste was ok, but the shredded corned beef was very hard to chew-- not a do-over. Made our 6:30PM, Saturday evening reservation for 4 adults over a month ago for a very special Father's Day fine dining experience. In our appropriate dress code attire,we drove over 30 minutes to specifically experience Reunion after not dining in Northfield for over two years. When we arrived, the teenage hostess was not friendly or accommodating. She whispered to other teenage host. We were walked past the EMPTY main dining room to a hot, scuffed bare walled, overflow closet room that was stuffed to the brim with other people all jammed into this small space. We told hostess, Unacceptable and we were placed in a booth in the EMPTY main dining room. I asked our server "why is there no one here tonight?" My question was answered in just a few minutes! The quite atmosphere of fine dining changed within a moments notice! In ran a baseball team of 10 year old boys in their sweaty dirty uniforms, spiked shoes, baseball hats, along with their loud, jumping- bean bodies. The parents shoved 10 boys into the booth directly next to us and they all sat across from us enjoying their tall glasses of beer oblivious to the 10 year old little monsters climbing up the booth to peer over the divider to watch us eat our dinner. The parents or staff doing nothing to stop this unacceptable obnoxious behavior.. my husband along with our two other guests got up and went outside as we could not finish our meal. Another table of fine diners also got up and moved to another part of the restaurant as they were also extremely upset with their experience. We witnessed them moving and our server was notified of their unhappiness at our table in front of us. My extremely disappointed husband notified main Host?, as we could not locate a GM manager to relay our disapproval. Totally Unacceptable! We expect a 5 star experience, when spending over $200.00 in food and beverages, Not a Chucky Cheese kid's romper room ! What a total disappointment this place is. Overpriced for poor quality products. Food truck quality at best. This place will be belly up with in a year. Terrible service. Nothing local on the menu worth mentioning. There are other restaurants in the area that are more affordable and better quality products. We've been to Reunion four times since they opened, including opening night. Atmosphere is simply great. Menu is very good. Service is ok with expected glitches being all new, such as food served but no silverware. Drinks ordered are slow to be delivered, but I think the bar is understaffed for the amount of patrons. I loved the pork chop, very much liked the shrimp and chorizo pasta. The walleye sandwich was so-so as the fish only covered half the bun. I ordered the 7 oz. fillet steak medium, and it was served well done. They reduced the price, but I wasn't happy about it, as the menu says they are made to spec. Also seemed like a lesser cut of steak than a fillet. My wife likes the citrus shrimp salad, but tonight there seemed to be a noticeable lesser amount of shrimp than previous time. One more thing I'd expect when ordering a pasta or salad would be a simple roll or breadstick with a $17-20 pasta dish or salad. It would also be nice to have a drink menu at tables for the variety of tap beers and wine selections so we can review without making the wait staff go off looking for that info. I went here with my husband to have one drink at the bar. Great atmosphere, customer service and surroundings, but let me tell you about the drink...I had a Riverwalk Sip. It was a transformative experience. True, I haven't been out much since Covid, but I still know a great cocktail when I have one. Just watching the bartender put this concoction together was entertaining, it was a process! The results were so tasty and actually mood lifting! I came a week later with 3 friends, and while the food menu got mixed reviews, I encouraged everyone to have a Riverwalk, and they all proclaimed it the best cocktail ever! read more

I'm surprised to see such a low average rating for this place. It was PACKED on a Thursday night. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. The finger food was delicious. I was privileged enough to get a chance to enjoy an invitation only dinner at Reunion last night and I will definitely be back! From the moment I walked through the door I was impressed with the space and the historic preservation that they included into the decor. They were still working out the kinks when it comes to the ordering computer system but that's to be expected and it really didn't matter because the delicious libations and good company were a good distraction. The food was well worth the wait! The plates were beautiful and the food spoke for itself. If you're in the area and you are looking for a great place to have some drinks and a nice dinner aside from the normal burgers and pizza, this is the place for you. read more

Wow just had great food at Reunion! Loved the smoked chicken appetizer. The rub was amazing and so was the ha crafted Bloody Mary. We also had scallops which were cooked perfectly. Their ribs had a delicious watermelon bbq sauce too. The service was also excellent by the bartender . Reunion is a very cute restaurant, but honestly doesn't have the best food. We came with a group of five so we started off with hummus, which was actually the best part of the meal. It was homemade and was served with bread. If you love hummus, I would highly recommend it. My mom and I shared the bruschetta chicken sandwich with fries and ranch and it was okay. I only ate the chicken, but the others said it was average. The fries were okay, but the ranch was not good; it was definitely not homemade. My dad got the Reuben with potato salad and it was not very good. The potato salad wasn't even a potato salad, it looked like frozen breakfast potatoes served on a plate. The only other thing someone else got was the house salad which actually looked really good. Overall I would say this restaurant isn't that great, but we got seated very quickly and the service was decent. read more
