Because I don't do much with my hair I was nervous to trust someone else, but she listened to all my requests, she changed my hair in subtle ways to match the low maintenance vibe. If you have curly hair and know that there's an artistic mad science to properly styling curls... look no further! Reveal has it down to an art and a science. I won't let just anyone touch my preciously cared for curly tresses, because I've been to a few people who "said" they "totally do curly hair", only to have them dry brush (gasp!) and give a lackluster cut. This is how I ended up seeking out Reveal and leaving completely happy with my first visit! They are top notch. Jessica and Quinn are very friendly, make you feel pampered and are total wizards of their craft, to boot! I walked in desperate for a haircut (my usual state), and instead of a haircut I got a consultation followed by an education. My actual haircut is scheduled for two months out (imagine a stylist who says, not yet-the cut comes later), but I walked out of her salon ecstatic (and educated-did I mention that?). I've had curly hair for my entire life, and except during the straight-swishy hair worshipping 1970s, I've always embraced my curls. Hair products have gotten better and I thought I had a decent routine to keep from turning in to Ms. Frizzle. Sure, I got my hair cut at cheap chains with Cutz or Clips or Super in the name, but if my hair were going to be wrecked by a bad trim, at least I hadn't paid much for the trauma. When Quinn gave me her card, I didn't intend to make an appointment. But I guess I felt hope that I could have more adorable curls, and a head that didn't look like a pyramid with the top cut off, so... I could go on and on and on about how much I really love my new hair. I've committed to all the things Quinn told me about No-Poo, and piles of conditioner, and microfiber towels. And it's true! I can go 3 days without wetting my hair to refresh the curl! My hair is no longer pyramidal and it is much less frizzy. I can't quite yet get the look that Quinn sent me out of the salon with, but my corkscrew ringlets make me feel so happy and I can make them happy without too much work (low maintenance is a priority for me). The little tendril bangs make the look less severe. I'm an evangelist for the Deva cut. If you live in Santa Rosa, you should go get yours from Quinn. Buy all the products, too. Growing up white girls just didn't have curly hair. There were no products, no protocol and no one to tell you how to work with your curls. For about 5 years (between ages 13-17years old), I received Brazilian Blowout treatments because I had no idea what to do with my hair. My parents whom were also clueless in the "art of curly warfare", had no more insight than I did and only had the suggestions of, "Just put oil in your hair" (so that you get this nice greasy and still frizzy look), or "Go to bed with it wet on a towel over your pillow"(so that you wake up looking like a frizzed out poodle). Any one with curly hair who just read those two lines probably just shuttered at the though! She didn't brush, pull, or do anything else detrimental that would disturb my natural curl pattern, and she showed me a couple tricks I didn't yet know to help keep my curls defined and healthy. All told the intro package she did was $200 pre-tip, but super worth it. QUINN BISHOP is a miracle worker, a hair genius, and as long as it's possible no one but her will ever touch my hair again. I have curly hair (Type 3-A if you're familiar with curl types)- springy ringlet type curls. It gets pretty heavy when I'm growing it out, and layers are a necessity. The problem is very few hairstylists know how to cut curly hair into layers correctly. The last stylist I went to tried a "Deva Cut" and as it grew out it turned into "Rosanne Rosanna Danna" hair...a triangle. Flat on top, heavy on the bottom. When I went to Quinn the first time, I was just desperate to get it all chopped off. I'd been keeping it long for whatever reasons and it was a pain, no style, took way too much hair product, just terrible. I brought some pics with me and showed her what I wanted, something young, a shoulder length curly bob with volume at the crown. Whenever you go to someone new there is ALWAYS that huge fear of coming out looking like Ronald McDonald. Well not so with Quinn. That very first cut, I felt like a million bucks. It was perfect...cute, young, I felt like I'd lost 15 pounds (of hair!) She's been giving me trims every few weeks and I am just SO pleased with this cut, the shape is perfect and flattering...my curls have room to bounce and look fantastic...it's SO low maintenance. I use the "Deva Curl" Haircare line; yeah it's a little expensive but it's worth it for how utterly amazing my hair looks and feels, plus I only have to wash my hair every couple of days (2-3 days even is fine). It's so shiny and healthy looking and I constantly get compliments. So not only is she magnificent at cuts, she is a genius at color too!! I happen to love having black hair, but most colorists get heartburn when I ask to go black. I guess It can look very harsh. Well Quinn managed to get me a very flattering soft blueish deep deep deep brown/almost black that looks fantastic on me. Seriously I am in love with this color. And in December I decided I wanted a blue streak of hair in front and she did it perfectly- it looked so cute and lasted 3 whole months!!! Even the way it faded- to a greenish color- still looked so cool. My last visit to her, I went with purple chunks against my black all over. It looks just so amazing. It's been 5 weeks and it does not even need touch up. I was actually supposed to go in but I'm putting it off another week or two just because it still looks so vibrant, I can't even believe it. Quinn just nailed it again. Quinn is such an amazing hair stylist and an absolute skilled genius...I love that every time I go see her I can be so excited and not filled with worry over how I will look. I trust her completely with my hair. If you have curly hair, or have trepidations about past experiences, seriously give Quinn a call because you can't go wrong. I've recommended about 4 or 5 of my curly haired friends to her already. She's easy to find on 4th street next to Superburger, she has cool Online booking (which I LOVE), very reasonable fair pricing, cool studio, and she's very sweet and friendly, really makes you feel comfortable and at ease. I am so happy with going to Reveal today! Kelly gave me a Deva Cut and she colored my hair also. She was so nice and helpful with all of the tips she gave me on how to style my curly and what products to use to achieve the same look at home! This review is long overdue. I drive from San Francisco to Santa Rosa to have my hair done here, so there's that for starters... I have been going to see Quinn for cut & color for years. She has done many of my friends & family's hair as well. I know when I refer someone to her that they are in the best hands. I sent a friend in with curly hair (in which she specializes, btw) and the results were miraculous. My sister in law sees her regularly as well and she is one picky lady when it comes to beauty... Here is why I let Quinn do my hair: 1. Consistency. When I go see her, I almost always want a tiny change here or there, but I am not one to go super dramatic with my hair, and she knows what I like. So, every time I go in to see her, I know I will leave looking better than ever before. 2. Taste. Quinn has taste. She can look at a person and tell what colors will not go with their skin...what cut will not look good with their head shape. She is picky, she is HONEST. She will tell you the truth BUT also work with what you want. I trust her to make the right move. For example- sometimes I want to go lighter, and sometimes I want to go darker. She always has counsel so that I don't make some overly dramatic decision and she always mixes the color so that it fits, even though its a little different each time. 3. No Drama. Quinn has a the biggest heart. She listens, she is smart, she is good at what she does and she enjoys it. I know I can go in and have a relaxing experience and know that I'm in safe hands. I am very picky about how my hair looks because it's fine and I look horrible with certain cuts/bangs, etc. and I just know I am not going to be pressured into doing something I don't want to do, or her cutting more or less than I want. If you have curly and/or wavy hair, you probably know by now that your hair is hard to cut and easy to mess up. Finding a stylist who really genuinely knows how to cut your hair and make it look gorgeous is a high-stakes game. After moving to the bay area 5 years ago, I had *almost* resigned myself to having my hair cut only on visits back home in Colorado. Yikes. I had Quinn do a color correction, which she told me was permanent, though there would be some fade. The color was gone in just 2 wks. Now fading and disappearing are two different things. The color disappeared and when I returned to discuss this w/ Quinn she was rude and arrogant, and clearly could care less. She even refused to give me a receipt, saying she doesn't give receipts. Only after I was insistent did she offer to email me one, and though she took the time to find a pad of paper, she could have easily written a receipt on the spot. Quinn is patient with me and my frizzy long hair, great at providing suggestions, and always does a great job cutting hair. I decided to get highlights a couple weeks before my wedding, and Quinn did a fantastic job on it despite me not able to provide a ton of guidance as to what I was looking for other than "something classy that will look good for a wedding."
