Really enjoyed my time here! Went after work for some drinks with coworkers and had a blast! Our waiter was really nice and helpful when I was asking questions about the cocktails. Had the pigs in a blanket which were goooooood and the balsamic chicken sandwich which was good too but there was a lot of balsamic so it was a bit strong... they have happy hour until 7, where they have $1-2 off of beers and $5 wine glasses. Wish no stars were an option. You couldn't pay me to go back. Should have realized why it was empty on a football Sunday. We walked in and looked at the beer list . Some decent choices. My boyfriend and I then walked to the bar (which was pretty much empty) and waited for about five minutes while the jerk behind the bar just looked at us. I saw an empty table without a "this is table service" sign and sat down waiting another five minutes while he was still trying to get our drinks. Then someone that worked there acknowledged me by saying"you can only sit here for table service" seriously ? Maybe if your bartenders didn't suck I wouldn't even need to sit here! Great beer selection, fun atmosphere, great staff and good food. Love the fact they offer German style selections (I have been on a German kick lately). Communal tables, high ceilings and a long bar add to the fun atmosphere. Food: You gotta order the giant pretzel and perogies (they come with onions, a honey sauce and bacon)...you cannot go wrong. Of the wursts, I would recommend the: Bauwern Wurst (Rustic Spicy German Sausage Made with Beef & Pork). Delicious! Sadly I would pass on their salads. The steak was also inedible and bland. The lettuce was wilted. Their service was great. Prompt and friendly. Their beer selection nearly 90 total (40 on tap alone). Plenty of TV's for games. Tons of seating. Decent happy hour prices. They have so many beers drinks on top and I believe they have a few wines as well. Pre-Covid I would love coming here and hanging out at the bar. A nice big establishment. Place has a fun vibe but TVs with games only on one side of the restaurant. That should be addressed. We got a flight so we can taste a few of the beers. They were all very good. Once again it's average. I feel bad because I really, really want to love Revolution. I want to give 5 stars, but I just can't. I give Revolution chance after chance because: 1) German food 2) So much variety on Tap 3) Atmosphere is great 4) Service is very great Today I had a $14 chopped chef salad. It consisted of romaine and iceberg, shredded carrots, some cucumbers and maybe 1/2 hard boiled egg with some grilled chicken that had the texture of and tasted exactly like Perdue packaged grilled chicken (I omitted the croutons). This was a $6 salad at best. Disappointing. Sausages are from Barth's Market, which I frequent regularly. They should get their sides from Barth's too because the sides at Revolution are only ok. Plain air temperature Sauerkraut from a jar, and a potato salad with mayo, not German style. Revolution was... not quite a revolution when I compare to other beer halls across the local NYC region. Website was down, though, when I last checked for it. Lots and lots of space inside - back entry is close to the Morristown public parking garage. The service, friendly, and the place was empty on a Monday. Large monitors on the wall also identify beers and the taps they are on - Coors Coors Light on two taps, I noted. It's interesting, either I'm getting more acquainted with odd beers, but out of 30+ taps, I'd had more than half of them. They had some interesting craft beers (Kill all the Lawyers was one..." and some local brews, too. Could be tough to read for people not close to the screen - would've been good to have a paper menu or something closer for those with poorer eyesight (one person in our group). Beers in a flight (four served in 5 oz. glasses), and in a wooden box with chalk to make sure you know which one is which; unfortunately mine had a spill inside so it leaked all over the table where I sat and onto me, which dampened my experience of the night. Food - the perogies were fantastic, with sweet syrup and thick cut bacon. The wings were ok (buffalo) and so-so (garlic parm), the pretzels were big but the cheese sauce and mustard wasn't enough (we asked for a second), and the fried mac & cheese was so-so. Sausage - we tried three. - Chorizo: good, but not spicy enough - Kielbasa: fantastic - Sauerbraten: was so-so, I've had better. Downside of being spilled on was I didn't enjoy myself nearly as much as I would have, and so next time I'm hoping it won't happen -- will be back here for perogies, beers & meats fpr another happy hour time! read more

Revolution is a good spot if you're looking for an after-work happy hour. The bar is spacious and has ample seating both at tables and at high-tops by the bar. They also have a huge selection of craft beers on tap, many of them local to the tri-state area which was neat. The food is a different story. While we enjoyed the giant soft pretzel appetizer and mac and cheese balls, the entrees were just ok. I honestly can't even remember the name of the burger I had because it was that lackluster and flavorless. I opted to get the handcut potato chips instead of the fries, which was a big mistake - the chips were stale and tasted like cardboard. Being that this is a convenient happy hour spot, I would definitely return for drinking purposes and possibly appetizers, but will pass on actual dinner next time. read more

The table was kind of slanted so our drinks kept sliding around lol but that wasn't a big deal. I ordered the cucumber mint mule which wasn't much to write home about. To eat I had the bacon Gouda burger and potato salad. The burger was slightly over cooked but it was still flavorful and the potato salad was very good with the exception of one rotten potato. My dad had the balsamic chicken sandwich and put it down faster than me being able to ask him how it was. He mentioned that the soda tastes bad, suggesting the lines may need to be cleaned? You honestly cannot come here without getting the pretzel. It's the perfect appetizer for all occasions. I'm a frequent flyer at Revolution. I love the atmosphere/vibe of the restaurant. They have an incredible beer selection and make good cocktails as well. I visited again during covid for outdoor seating. I asked for a table for 3 but was sat at a two-seater table with adding an extra chair. I felt the table was a bit crowded to comfortably seat 3 people but I do understand that outdoor seating is limited and they were trying to accommodate us within the wait time they provided. I ordered the hummus platter for the first time as my meal because I wasn't too hungry. It was very good and very filling! I brought half of it home for the following day. Bathroom 4, Place 4: Average 4 The bathroom is surprisingly really nice for a bar. It looks new, floors aren't sticky, it didn't smell when I visited (4 times) and the lighting was good. Bar bathrooms need to be upgraded like this one. The only reasons I can't give this a 5 is because there's only 1 urinal and 1 stall. For a bar thats expecting traffic, that doesn't end well. Also the soap isnt automatic. Anywho, it's a beer and food joint and just for serving beer and the floor not being sticky/dirty gets a thumbs up from me. Huge beer list with many of great choices. I could have gotten two flights and not tasted everything that stood out to me. Menu is really great for sharing - we had the 3 sausage plate (chorizo was my favorite, but the others were great as well), pretzel, and perogies (small portion of 4 for 9$) to share between us 4. With two beers each we were still hungry and added on 2 more sausages, french onion soup (little bit different flavor from your average diner style, but still a great soup), wedge salad, and a side of potato salad. Service was friendly, knowledge, and fast. Bit of an older crowd than Sona and Iron Bar (thankfully). Only criticism might be the lack of a HUGE sausage platter where you get one of each kind and a big serving of sauerkraut and potato salad. This is a great place for a gathering or a party. It's wide open, plenty of long tables. Although it can get loud on a Friday or Saturday, a party of 10 can find a spot, or you can meet new people. Unlike the lines and crowds elsewhere on a Friday night, there was no wait to get in and a relaxed atmosphere inside. We were able hear ourselves talk one out of two visits so far, we were able to communicate to the bartenders, and also the bartenders had enough time to communicate back. Also (forgot) - the music selection. DJs were spinning... classic rock. Beatles. Both visits. We were all singing along. Love. Drinks were served promptly and poured right every time. Love love love the selection. 40 crafts on tap, all from around this area. A beer snob's wet (meaning alcoholic) dream. So I came back for the food. Who would think they get them both right? The mac 'n' cheese balls are out of this world. Seriously bites of heaven. Never had better. Each ball was nice and plump (well, one got smooshed a bit), there is ALMOST enough beer cheese sauce for them (it's a northern Pimento Cheese dip, in a way), and fried perfectly. Such great taste and texture. There was a bit of a wait, but I accepted it because the food is made from scratch. I had the Bavarian burger, which put kielbasa and sauerkraut (and beer cheese dip) on a burger. Three meat burger (chuck, short rib, brisket). Rare. And it came out that way! And it was fantastic! And the fries are exactly the way I like them! (Spend the extra dollar.) The potato salad portion was a bit skimpy, but delicious. Double scoop next time, please. And soak that pickle! Nearly everything about this place is great, until I saw the bartender using cheap booze in place of the high end booze. The cucumber mint mule uses Hendricks gin but I noticed the bartender using Tanqueray for mule #2 and #3. Didn't say a word to the bartender, he was just doing his job. This is a management issue. A schnitzel is traditionally a thin deep-fried piece of pork or veal the size of a dinner plate, preferably served with a tall pilsner, but at Revolution the "schnitzel" is an inch-thick slab of pork that looks like deep-fried meatloaf. Beer is still required and there are almost 40 drafts to choose from here, 5 stars for beer. The food is more than burgers and priced reasonably; their burger is $13. Those 40 taps include East Coast and other brews, just 1 cider and no macro brews. I managed to choose a flight of 4 fine stouts for $15. Flights are labeled perfectly on the front of the box used to hold the glasses, and if you avoid the "reserve" beers your flight can be as cheap as $9, very fair. An excellent pint of Brooklyn sorachi ace was just $6. Alas I don't think there's a happy hour. Start with the pretzel! Yes it's overpriced at $10 but it's huge and arrives smoking hot with cheese AND mustard for dipping, what could possibly go better with beer. My dining companions actually preferred the perogies, a small frying pan of 4 for $9, a few chunks of thick bacon and onions on top, very good. Me, I preferred the pretzel. A sausage trio for $17 included a modest portion of kraut and a (slightly undercooked) dollop of potato salad, the three sausages (provenance listed as New Providence, NJ) hadn't been grilled enough to char so they were only ok. Potato pancakes were more like mashed potato fritters, generous portions of applesauce and sour cream on the side, good but like that schnitzel definitely a re-interptetation. The chef's special brisket sandwich was quite good and the house-made potato chips were excellent. That inch-plus schnitzel was still alarmingly pink at the center, oops. Noisy - brick walls, tin ceiling, hard smooth floors - so adult conversation was a challenge just from the happy people around us. DJ spins on the weekends I believe. We enjoyed fine service (thanks Tali), useful recommendations and fast refills. Vegetarian rating: 2 stars, you might have a salad, that pretzel and there's a veggie burger. Happily beer is 100% free of animal protein lol. Why only long tall tables and bar stools? The drinks my husband and I had weren't bad. We really expected them to taste a bit different but they were refreshing. My husband actually sent his back for lack of flavor. Our server however was super nice and understanding. Not a very big menu to choose from. Myself being a picky eater had a little bit of difficulty deciding. We agreed on "shareables" (appetizers). Loaded Pierogies (potato and cheddar stuffed Pierogies in sherry-honey syrup topped with caramelized onions and bacon) and Schnitzel Fingers (thin chicken strips breaded with seasoned Ritz crackers)....the Pierogies were undeniably delicious and the schnitzel fingers were pretty darn tasty too!
